Chapter 64: War of the Worlds
EARTH MHA-714-2
MUSUTAFU, JAPAN
DEVELOPMENT STUDIO WORKSHOP
Ochaco was in hero uniform and more nervous than she had ever been before. The workshop was filled with politicians, scientists, and heroes.
It turned out Hatsume was the first person on the planet to get the machine to work. Some were saying it was the open-mindedness of youth and sheer genius. Honestly, Hatsume didn't overthink it; she saw plans, she put them together and built them.
When someone talked back to them, the teachers had to get involved, and the governments followed. Since the girls were the first to speak to this 'Scout,' they were asked many questions.
It didn't help that he sent a message that he would respond for a few days.
The portal turned on a bit, and a message came through, which served as a line's busy message. It didn't give them anything; it seemed to be automatic. The scientists were checking on readings, seeing if it was safe to use or have on. They were talking about sending in a probe if they didn't get a response soon.
Ochaco didn't know what to say, but Hatsume was more than happy to talk about her newest and biggest bay.
After what seemed like hours, they shut it off and left to go to the conference room to talk about what they were going to do about it.
Someone had talked; news that someone built the machine was known worldwide. Some countries were demanding to have access or be allowed to take it over. Some argued that it should be destroyed rather than risk anything.
Hatsume stayed behind to clean up the device and just run maintenance. She also glared at a man who added some extra part to it to make sure it wasn't leaking radiation or misused.
Ochaco sighed in relief and walked out of there and back to her classroom. She should be able to reach the group before they got started.
As she reached the classroom, she found her classmates there, all in hero uniforms. With so many people interested in the device, there was a mess of people outside the school. The usual methods to keep people out weren't going to work with so many guests. To make up for it, they had pro-heroes doing security, and every student with a license was asked to help to do security.
Ochaco sighed; though the population was halved, groups didn't precisely get cut even. Counting herself, out of her class of 20, only seven of them avoided getting dusted. It was only Tenya, Mina, Todoroki, Taoyorozu, Jiro, and Bakugo.
"Good, you made it in time, Uraraka," Aizawa greeted her, "Okay, this will be simple; I'm breaking you all into teams of two. We are going to walk around the perimeter at 60 meters from each other. Keep your eyes open for anything strange or anyone trying to cause trouble. We will all stay on the radio; if anything happens, call for help; pro-heroes are close by and on patrols around the area too. Keep all ground and all people at least 30 meters from the school; barricades are marking where the crowds can't pass."
Ochaco noticed three other people, Kendo, Shiozaki, and Komori; they must have been pulled in to even up the numbers. Ochaco had heard the class did better. They must have already started their perimeter checks.
The door to the room opened up, and a familiar blue hair girl walked in. "Oh! Are we late?"
Nejire walked in, followed by Amajiki.
"No, just in time," Aizawa told them, "Amajiki and Nejire are going to not only be on patrol but help out coordinating all of you."
Ochaco wished she could be hopeful as Nejire; she couldn't imagine things getting worse.
WAKANDA
She could see everything, should feel everything.
When the Dusting happened, the world was in turmoil. Kara rushed to Smallville to find that her cousin had vanished in the middle, cutting logs. He had retired with Lois to the farm with their children. Clark had saved the world, the whole Universe, more times than anyone could count. He deserved his retirement.
It was a lot to live up to; after she returned from the future with the Legion, she changed her costume, changed it to something white though she did keep the red cape, and added the blue gloves and boots are a touch of her old suit. She took on the name Power Girl to stand as her own and not be compared to Clark as often. She promised she would protect the world until they could reverse it. Then she stumbled onto something strange, Brainiac's ship with multiple Lex here to collect the Lex of her world.
Kara tried to contact the Legion and the League, but she never got a response from either. The League was busy dealing with accidents all over the world. She had no idea why the Legion didn't reply at all.
With no time to waste, Kara chased after them, following them through a rift.
That was a mistake; without a ship or anything, the trip drained her powers, and they caught her. They strapped her down as they gathered their forces. Then her Lex Luthor brought over a small worm, Mister Mind. Mister Mind was a worm from Venus, it was a genius beyond most human minds, and he was a powerful telepath. Luthor gave him a shard of Kryptonite, and in her weakened state, Mister Mind had no problem crawl into her ear and controlled her.
Kara could only watch; she would try to fight back when she could. It took everything she had to keep him from using her to kill. Sometimes she could break free and for a few seconds.
She wasn't going to give up; Clark wouldn't, so she wouldn't. The Luthor's we're planning something horrible, and she had to stop it.
0000
"Hurry!" Shuri order as they moved out of the forest and onto the plain.
"We don't have any cover here!" Tony pointed out.
"We don't need it," Shuri ran ahead towards a large rock formation; at the bottom, she found a switch. The rocks moved and made an opening, "Get in!"
The group did as they were told and rushed down a stone staircase, the warriors followed, and Shuri was the last one down.
Descending the stairs, they were greeted by the sight of a massive underground temple.
"Welcome to the Necropolis, a temple built by the first Black Panther under the instructions of our goddess Bast and lost for centuries."
"Lost?" The Doctor picked on that word.
"Yes, until right after the attack."
"Well, that's lucky. You found such a great hiding spot," The Doctor whirled her sonic scanning the walls, she looked confused at her device, "deep enough that unless you're looking for it, you won't find it, and if you did, it wouldn't work. Something is screwing with the scans."
"Vibranium," Shuri explained, "we thought that we'd mined everything out, but there looks like ground above the temple is lined with it. "
"It's perfect, and you just found it?"
Shuri sighed; she remembered the dream she had gotten that ended in the plain; she didn't realize it until she saw it awake, the plains right above them right now. When the fighting got worse, and she needed to run, she knew she had to go there and found shelter.
"I had a vision, okay? Let's talk,"
They found warriors; some hurt, some resting, some just trying to develop a plan.
Okoye stared at the Doctor, "Didn't you breach our security a week ago?"
The Doctor shrugged, "No, must have been someone else, I have one of those faces,"
The Doctor hurried along with the others as they started to talk with Shuri about what happened.
KNOWHERE
"Trickster?" Alexis Luthor grinned, pulling the glass dome over her head, "Do the honors."
The older man smiled, "It would be an honor."
The Trickster pulled out a remote and pressed the button, "Bomb-Voyage!"
The ground beneath the heroes explored, again and again, and again.
"Delightful, I don't know why the other Luthors don't like you." Alexis couldn't help but remark.
"I know," the Trickster shook his head, "I overheard them say, my voice reminded them of someone they hated." He held out the remote and pressed another button, "And for the final touch!"
One massive explosion shook everything, "That should do it,"
It didn't; a large pink bubble shot into the air. Rose managed to form a bubble around them in the last instance, but it was giving out. They crashed back onto the ground, the bubble popping.
"Okay, this isn't going well," Scott pointed out with a groan.
Rena Rogue rubbed her head, "Yeah, I noticed,"
Quickly the Reverse-Flash ran up to them and smiled, "It looks like we still have to clean up."
The rest of the villains ran towards them to finish the fight. The Reverse-Flash quickly picked up Hiro.
SAKAAR
Bruce was surprised how familiar this all seemed. He didn't remember those two years, but maybe the Hulk did.
"Finally, a proper challenge!" Bane yelled as he confronted Bruce. "I heard you were the champion of this arena."
"Trust me, body, I'm gone down a weight class, but I'm still out of your league,"
The Luchadore turned on a dial, and a green liquid started to pump through the nozzled into his back. After a second, he huffed as his body began to expand, and his muscles began to grow. "How about now?"
"Oh- Okay, now we-"
Bane started by punching him right in the face.
Elena went into her Nanochip Queen form and charged, but Livewire shot a bolt of electricity at her disrupting her.
Rojo jumped in to block the blast as best she could; her suit was at least insulated. That didn't matter much as the so-called master of magnetism, Dr. Polaris, used his power to lift them into the air.
Captain Jack pulled a blaster and shot Doctor Polaris in the back with a blaster.
"Well, we can't have someone shooting people in the back,"
Jack looked down to where he spotted a half-hidden mirror.
The Mirror Master jumped out of it and fired at Jack.
Shego rushed at a red-haired woman, her hand glowing with green energy as she was about to grab her Giganta grew to enormous size.
"Oh,… big girl."
Giganta smirked, "Yup."
"The bigger they are-"Fred rushed at her, her Kaiju from slamming right into her knee-knocking her to the ground., her head colliding with the seating.
Wasabi made sure to catch Shego.
FireFly smirked as he readied his flame thrower; he had the advantage in the air and would burn them down. Silver Fang rushed in and leaped straight up into the air before the villain could react fist pounded against his suit damaging it.
Silver Fang landed on his fit will the big crashed to the ground.
Psimon appeared behind him, striking him with a psychic-blast.
Up in the stands, Luthor leaned back in his chair and poured himself another glass of the Grandmaster's finest wine.
KAMAR-TAJ
The Temple in Nepal had become a battlefield; anyone who arrived unprepared would have likely thought they had gone insane. The villains were numerous and had a lot of power, plus they were stuck playing defense, a position most didn't seem used to holding.
The Black Bulls were used to fighting magic users, and that was a bonus; the team was a great help. Vanessa kept anyone near her safe. Charmy's food could restore anyone's magical power, so odd to take a snack in the middle of the fight any magic-user didn't need to worry about losing energy. Finral and Magik could teleport people around, basically letting the team surrounded the villains.
Some of the temple monks were able to fight with them alongside.
The downside to that was that the villain Queen Bee could control people, and she was controlling some of the other monks to fight along their side.
Felix Faust ran over to Luthor's side, "Luthor! We can't keep up the shield when they keep bombing us!"
"I got it! Just focus on your Hocus Pocus!" Lex, in his Lex suit, flew into the air.
Felix just sighed, "Why did we get stuck with this one? His voice is so grating."
Lex flew up into the air and got behind the Warmachine; he scoffed, "Military? No sense of aesthetics. All guns must be Hell to upgrade."
Lex smirked as his HUD lined his shot right at Rhodey.
Before he could fire, Lex found his suit covered in flames; his system blared; he struggled but got his suit systems back under his control before he crashed. As the fire died down around him and his vision cleared, he found the Warmachine before him, aiming all his weapons at him.
"By the way, this suit patched into your radio, I heard everything you said. Fun fact: dragons don't come up in the standard radar."
Nearby, Haley, in her dragon form, smiled before she and Rhodey fired everything at Lex. The Lex suit spun into a crash below.
Psycho-Pirate held his mask, the monks around him cowered in fear because he ordered them too. They were too afraid even to use their magic. He found one of the newcomers, and he decided to show them the Medusa Mask's power.
"You feel great fear, overwhelming you."
Touma blinked, "Ah, I don't."
"What? You must submit to the power of the Medusa Mask."
Touma just smiled, "Let me shatter that Illusion," Touma didn't hesitate to punch him right in the mask.
There followed a loud shattering sound and the Medusa Mask cracked, breaking apart. The Psycho-Pirate was dazed and confused and now his head throbbing collapsed.
"Nice Punch," GoGo walked up to Touma.
Honey Lemon was next to her and smiled, "Nice hand, I think I have a fun idea."
A gas cloud littered the area, a man dressed as a Scarecrow laughed, "It's such a delight to test out my new batch of fear toxic on peoples from other worlds. Luthor has promised me could examine your bodies to see the effects on the cellular level."
Itsuwa rushed straight through the cloud of fear gas, focusing on him. Her training taught her to control her breathing; she was barely taking a breath as she moved. Plus, her training as a magician honed her mind; at the edge of her mind, she could see monsters and fears creeping in but still didn't allow it to affect her. She just repeated to herself; they were just an illusion. Itsuwa readied her spear as she came in range, swung striking Scarecrow and out. Itsuwa quickly used her wires to tie him up in case he tried something later.
Kanzaki hoped to get this done faster, but they couldn't risk Scarecrow escaping and releasing more gas. Kanzaki set off her spell and spun her kodachi; suddenly, a whirlwind sucked the gas high into the air to get dispersed harmlessly.
Itsuwa took several deep breaths, exhaling the grass from her lungs.
"Are you alright?" Kanzaki asked her.
"I am alright, Priestess. I need a moment." They had been trained even to deal with poison gases, this was something different, but the principle was the same.
Kanzaki nodded, staying beside her to guard her.
TØNSBERG
The sky was filled with lightning and thunder; it could blind a person. It was like the gods were fighting, and in some ways, they were.
The weather stations across the country were already reporting this as the storm of the century.
They high in the air spinning wildly.
Thor swung Storm Breaker with all his might; Black Adam barely catch the blade as he neared his neck. Both of them had lightning shooting after their bodies as they spun in the air.
Adam grunted as he pushed back the weapon, "Impressive, you didn't hesitate to go for the killing blow!"
"I've learned not to make that mistake again."
They crashed into a nearby hillside, destroying it as they did.
Sogiita was delighted; he'd love a chance to fight those two guys he wasn't annoyed by his opponent. It was King Shark, a giant man shark stomping his way. Cognita was delighted; his fist was ignited by energy as he ran towards King Shark.
"AMAZING PUNCH!"
He swung his fist, colliding with the shark so hard it sent this giant 20 feet back.
Vandal Savage pulled out a centuries-old knife as he ran forwards. Mugino shot plasma shots towards the man; the first shot struck him in the shoulder and the next in his hip. He paused for a few seconds and continued; she shot him again and again. Savage barely flinched at the attacks.
Mugino had enough shot him in the heart.
"Hehe, you will need to try harder," He smiled even as blood dripped from his lips.
He sprinted towards her and stabbed her; Mugino barely managed to block the attack with her cybernetic arm. The knife dug into the metal as she struggled to push the man away.
Kim activated her battle suit; the white suit sprang around her body, the blue lines glowing as it activated. Atomic Skull was a little more than a man in a suit with a skull covered in green flames. Honestly, this was old hat for Kim, he fired the flames at her, and her suit reacted, her gloves turning into a scoop to catch the blast and send it back. Atomic Skull was hit hard and tumbled back, not use to taking their own attack; Kim smiled, the shield was working well, and she was fighting someone who couldn't land a hit. This would be over soon.
Deep in the water, the fish-man looked for his opponent, in the dark red glow.
Zed barely managed to dodge the blast. Black Manta wasn't going to let him rest; he quickly closed the gap between them and slashed at him with his knife. Quickly blood seeped from Zed's wounds.
Manta joked, "Maybe we should get King Shark in on this,"
"Be my guest, all the easier to defeat your group. Blood Form Twelve: Raining Daggers."
The blood escaped began to pool together, and taking the shape of a dagger, rushed at Black Manta. Manta's oxygen cable was cut, and he tried to escape; before he could even try to swim up, Zed grabbed him.
XANDAR
Things weren't going well; the team was split apart pretty quickly.
White Beetle had used his powers to duplicate himself to a swarm and covered Chemo. He didn't have too much choice; Chemo was a living hazardous material disaster. If the suit got pierced or someone decided to open it, they'd all be drenched in chemicals he doubted anyone but himself could survive. He was dark matter, so he didn't have to worry about it, so he duplicated and created a dome over him to keep him from moving.
Connie found someone to clash swords with; General Immortus carried a saber with him and was more than willing to use it on a child. The wrinkly older man smirked; it had been some time since he fought one on one. Immortus had centuries of experience, but Connie had youth and agility. Their swords would continue to clash.
"Whoooo!" Roxy Rocket, the villain with the bomber jacket and goggles, yelled excitedly. She rode a rocket high above the air, dropping explosives as she did.
Stitch told Bismuth, "Throw me!"
"Uh, okay?" Bismuth grabbed the little blue guy and hurled him towards Roxy.
A second later, the blue experiment crashed into her face.
"What? Are- what?"
"Going down," Growing extra arms, Stitch pulled her hands off the control and set the rocket to crash away from everyone.
Roxy fought to get control, but Stitch grabbed her and jumped off before the rocket could crash.
Amethyst had charged a guy and got frozen in ice by Mister Freeze.
Lex would have to admit he rather enjoyed seeing everyone fight amongst themselves.
"It's thrilling, isn't it?" Venomous just casually walked up.
"I didn't see you get so close,"
"It's a gift; I'm particularly sneaky,"
Lex reached for the mother box; he could use it to teleport him away quickly.
"I don't have any powers if you're worried about that,"
Lex was particularly good at reading people; he could tell that Venomous was telling the truth about that, there a hint of bitterness that told him he might have wished he did have powers.
"So, what are you doing here?"
"Saving a Universe," He sighed with some annoyance, "I thought we might talk,"
Elsewhere Rocket fired at Plasmus; it gave him enough distraction to duck into a wrecked building without much notice. He heard the ever so familiar sounds of guns loading and cocking.
"Rocket?" Nova Prime looked worse for wear, but she held a gun right at his head.
Around her were a few Nova whose armor told stories, not happy ones and a few armed civilians.
"Nova Prime… well, hello, mind putting the gun down."
Prime did, "Are you and the rest of guardians here?"
"Ah, no, I'm the last one. I did bring in some new friends. What's going on?"
Nova Prime sighed for a moment; she looked like a woman twice her age, "It's been a rough few weeks. Thanos comes and decimates half the population; as we try to recover, the Dusting happens, and we lose another half. We were desperate for help when this group came; before we could even question them, they laid siege to the city. We tried to fight back, but as you can see, things didn't go well."
Rocket slumped onto the ground, "Yeah, and here I was feeling sorry for myself." He started to scramble through what they still had, "Okay, I got a plan. Not a great one, mind you, but we're on a time limit. I just need to borrow what tech you still got, cause if I'm right, a friend might be close by."
VORMIR
The team had to dodge bullet fire from Deadshot quickly; he was an expert sniper, and he did land his target, but that happened to be Deadpool. He didn't even notice it as he rushed at Deathstroke.
"Oh! It's so good to see you! We've got Death Battle fans that would be so angry if we didn't at least do a reference!"
"What are you talking about?" Deathstroke blocked his flurry of slashes with his blade.
"Don't play coy."
Hawkeye quickly shot his bow, perfectly sending an arrow into Deathshot's sniper rifle. "Well, great." He tossed his gun to the side, "Another Green Arrow,"
Merlyn chuckled as he readied his bow, "Maybe we should team up if we both attack him at once; well, he can't hit two targets at once no matter how good an aim he has."
"Fine, I'll go in close; you work from a distance," Deadshot readied the guns in his gauntlets.
"Burrow!" Bunny used her superpower and slipped into a white void filled with screens. Each screen showed moments in time.
She could see Captain America's fight against the Red Skull on the plane. Doctor Strange fight against Thanos on Titan. She saw a Celestial using the Power Stone on a planet, wiping people out. One screen showed Meredith Quill singing with a man she called Ego. Phil Coulson was mortally wounded but made to fire a blast at Loki, sending him through a wall. She could also see the Asgardian fighting against an army of Frost Giants.
Bunny saw these and countless other events play. She looked at her pocket watch; once she activated her power, she had five minutes before she'd revert to normal. Burrow had a condition that count down would start the second she jumped back out of the Burrow. From here, she could go to any point in time. She had considered going back in time to try and warn her world, but Fluff and the Doctor warned her about it and the paradoxes that would occur. Bunny decided to focus on the battle at hand, so see where she could help the most.
"What an interesting place?" Warp, a man in gold armor, forced open a portal into the Burrow. "We are in a unique place in time here; if I could master it, I would be unstoppable."
"Yeah, that's not going to happen." She readied her umbrella to fight.
Shutaura thought bringing her Black Crow mech would have made this easy; it was an advanced tank. She wasn't expecting a super-strong zombie.
Solomon Grundy didn't hesitate but rush her Black Crow grab it by the front as he tried to lift it.
"Well, it's a zombie," Shutaura grit her teeth as her eyes glowed for a fraction of a second. A disc shot from the mech is exploding in his face.
Gorilla Grodd charged at King Monkey; he was particularly annoyed by the human dressed as a monkey.
King Monkey loved the idea of fighting a Gorilla, "Come here, buddy." He squeezed
"I am not your buddy!"
"Have a banana," he tossed the toy at him.
Grodd just slapped it away, deciding to destroy the teenager's mind.
King Monkey just smiled; that was his Uproar, which whoever hit lost control of their powers. As Grodd tried to hit the teen with a psychic blast, instead, the attack turned on himself, and the blast wave struck others on his team. China Cat, Heatwave, Tigress, and Brainwave got hit by the blast and were knocked out along with the Gorilla.
"Cool, I'm glad that worked. Wasn't sure what I was going to do if it didn't."
"SHUT UP!" Deathstroke yelled at Deadpool.
"You'd be surprised how often I hear that,"
"No, I wouldn't." Deathstroke managed to force Deadpool to drop his swords.
Deadpool quickly grabbed his handgun and turned them to mercenary, only for Deathstroke to slice the barrels off.
"Okay, that's emasculating," Deadpool remarked, only to have a sword shoved through his chest.
"And this - I had a dick joke ready for this- it had to do with you impaling me with your har-"
Deadpool collapsed to the ground, and Deathstroke pulled the sword out. He was annoyed by how long that took,
Gasping, Deadpool jolted up, "Pulling out already?"
Deathstroke just took out a gun a fired it right into Deadpool's head.
"This time, stay dead," He started to walk away.
"Yeah, easier said than done." Deadpool jolted up again as he now had a gaping hole in his head, "Trust me, I've tried it, dark period. My girlfriend died, but you know what that's about."
Deathstroke just stared.
EARTH'S MOON DC-63038-7-00
WATCHTOWER
The Justice League hosted the Justice Society, the Doom Patrol, The Titans, Shadow Pact, and everyone other superhero groups and solo heroes they could reach. It had been weeks since the Dusting happened, and they precious little done in the way of finding anything out. They had spent all that time trying to take account of who was missing—then trying to deal with the fallout and disasters that followed.
Superman looked around; there were fewer people than he'd hoped. Superman hoped they were busy taking care of things and not just gone.
John was talking to Damien; they both lost a parent. Catwoman was nearby but keeping an eye on them. Some of the heroes eyed Catwoman, unsure if they should even let her before her. After all, Superman vouched for her; if Batman trusted her, they could all trust her. Superman did trust her; she worried like a mother even though she said she wasn't the parenting type.
He missed Bruce; if he'd still been around, they probably would have had this figured out two weeks ago.
Superman got up in front of everyone, and they all went quiet, waiting to hear him speak.
"Friends, I'm not going to mince words. It's been a difficult few weeks; they have affected everyone, and in all good conscience, I cannot promise you they have passed. We've dealt with universe-shattering crises before, and we've made it to the other side. I'm sure we will do it this time too. Today we gather to share everything we know of this new disaster. I'll start; STAR Labs report they had detected extra universal energies, including particles from the Bleed. We still have no definite evidence of what this means, but we've talked to our allies in other universes, and they have confirmed they've gone through the same phenomena. Until we can hear back from them, that avenue is somewhat limited."
That was less optimistic than anyone was hoping.
"I'll open up the floor to anyone who has anything to share,"
People were hoping for the Phantom Stranger to show up, give some dire warning, and a vague clue how to solve it. No one had seen him; either he got dusted or had nothing to say, no one knew which was worse. Dr. Fate was MIA.
Constantine huffed, got up, and dusted off his coat. "I guess I'm up,"
Constantine was far from the most respected magic user, but no one doubted his skill, even if a fair bit of his power was stolen or conned. "Well," He started, "I'm just going to tell you all of what me and my magic mates have noticed. Every realm has felt the effects, the Faerie to the Gemworld. Heaven above and Hell below have both shuddered their doors. Not sure if they got hit too, but they call back every demon and refused to let anyone out. And, the sodding angels are doing as much as they ever did. Our best guesses are they will open up and take any soul that dies, and he's heading their way, but that's about it." He held up a finger, "I managed to capture a demon, and we had a chat. No one that's turned to dust went anywhere. From the looks of it, all those souls just vanished; sure, any poor block got in a nasty wreck after the driver vanished made it to the other side, but the driver didn't. No one knows where those souls went."
Wonder Woman asked, "Then where did they go?"
"That's the million-pound question. Say what you will about demons; they keep good track of the souls that are due to the pit. They are mighty upset to lose out on so many souls."
A portal opened up in front of them and out stepped Superman, Calvin Ellis, a dark-skinned superman from their Earth-23 and president of his America.
"Superman," He greeted.
"Good to see you, Superman," Clark Greeted him.
They shook hands, "It's good to see you, Clark."
"Good to see you, Calvin. I take it this about the message we sent you."
From other worlds, other heroes stepped out of the portal. A wonder woman with white and gold armor. A Flash with blonde hair, a pink suit, and a friendly smile. In dark green cloak and robes, a Green Lantern held a staff with a green Chinese lantern at its end. Then followed a young-looking girl with dark hair wearing a black and white suit. There was a tall up, bright rabbit, with a warm smile he was Captain Carrot. Following behind them were a few members of the Legion of SuperHeroes; he didn't recognize them; then again, half the time, it seemed like a different legion. It looked like Brainiac 5, Dream Girl, Shadow Lass, Shrinking Violet, Phantom Girl, and Chameleon Boy.
Calvin explained, "They are from Earth 31, a world running ahead of ours, where their Legion of Super-heroes protects the Universe. I'll let them explain it,"
Brainiac 5 began to speak, "After the 'Dusting' happened, one Alexis Luthor managed to break out of Takron-Galtos, we managed to track her only to lose her as Brainiac ship picked her up. Before we could act, the ship jumped into the Bleed. It was traveling through the multiverse."
Phantom Girl spoke up, "And that's where we thought things would end. But Brainy here decided to try and trace them, scanning the area where they jumped. Well, he found something, a message for us."
"Not for us, per se," Brainiac 5 corrected, "it was a meant for a different Legions of Superheroes, but it couldn't push past the time barrier. "
Dream Girl continued the story," We managed to decipher the message; it went to confirm a lot. Power Girl from Earth 167 found her world's Luthor and going with this group. She tried to follow them when the signal cut off. We're not sure what happened to her."
Shrinking Violet added, "We contacted Justice League Incarnate when we detected the Brainiac Ship returning and picking up more villains."
Brainiac 5 simply told them, "Though we couldn't reach it in time, I did manage to get a proper scan and got their energy signature. It was difficult to track, but I've located the Universe it's in."
Calvin spoke up again, "There are two factors that we still need to discuss. The first one, Brainiac Ship, was scanned, and we've confirmed it; it's from this Universe."
"Luthor," Clark muttered; if it were their Brainiac ship, then it would make sense their Luthor was behind it.
"The second one, and more troubling is that the Luthor's seemed to have collected an army of villains to aid them, to go to a universe outside our Orrery of Worlds."
"I don't think I understand," Wonder Woman spoke out loud, "They went outside the multiverse?"
"So it seems, we've long theorized that there were universes outside out known 52. But that is merely a basis; there are multiverses in multiverses. Universes 27 and 28 are, in fact, universes with whole multiverses. "We have records of contact to universes during incidents that we later could not find in our multiverse."
Clark pushed back his spit curl, "That means Luthor and his cronies went to a universe, we do not know about, to do who knows what?"
Brainiac 5 hesitated to say something but pushed himself, "It's only a theory, but we've all detected the damage to dimensional barriers. It's unlikely but possible that the Luthor's have found the source of the Dusting Phenomena. That it was something that caused the damage."
"One way or another," Calvin explained, "we cannot allow Luthors to run rampant in that Universe. Your Universe has faced more direct Crises than any other and thus was more prepared when the Dusting occurred. You're in a better state; can we count on your help?"
Clark nodded, "Of course, we're already here, and since the trouble seems to have started in our universe, it's only right that we help put an end to it."
Avenger's Compound
Greyman and Alexis were busy monitoring the off-site battles as best they could. There was very little for them to do, which let Alexis' mind dwell on things he wished to forget.
"Po?"
Alexis blinked to find Kirby there, offering him chocolate.
"Thank you," Alexis took the chocolate and started to nibble on it. Kirby jumped onto his lap and looked over at the controls.
"Okay, something just hit me," Greyman pointed out, "How are we supposed to hold all these villains? We can't just leave them there once the battle is done."
"That's a good point. The Raft? I know in this world, they have a prison for super-criminals. I'm not sure how well that would go, the UN runs it, and the Avengers aren't on their best side right now. Not to mention the whole of them insisting on holding people prisoner for life without trials. I might have something else. Give me a few moments,"
Alexis got up and put Kirby in his chair, opening a portal to his homeworld, and he stepped into it.
After moments he returned with a blue cube, "I call this an Extra-Cube."
"Extra-Cube?"
"It's a cube with a pocket dimension I made all in a little cube. I've been working on this for a while; I've had many plans for it. I could never work out all the kinks; I kept getting bored with it."
"You got bored with making a pocket dimension? You could pretty much solve hundred of global problems."
"Yeah, but I'm sure someone would use to sneak weapons, or dangerous people, hide illegal things. Even if I worked out everything, I would never trust it out there in the world. One of the kinks might be useful; I kept messing up with the barriers; the result was that time acted strangely. Days can pass outside, and one-second passes in there. Each cube is a bit different, but this one, I think, is like 26 Hours to one-second. I've been mostly using these as stasis pods that I can move. Great if you want to keep food fresh."
Greyman caught on, "We can just put them there; we could have weeks to figure out what to do with them before we could even try to escape."
"Okay, how do we get them there?"
"Router, the same thing we have to send people to the med bay if they get hurt. Just this one will send the villains into a cube. "
"Okay, but how do we get them in there? The TDS won't work like that. We'd need new programming and update everyone in the middle of battle."
"Get CPU and Darkhlem to build devices specifically to this,"
"That would be faster, maybe add some feature to keep everyone wearing a TDS from being sucked in."
"Good, good idea. Even so, opening a portal, using the HUB, I think each device could only get one trip before it needs to be charged."
They went to work on getting this done.
Kirby chomped onto the chocolate, happy to see Alexis seemed better with a distraction.
KNOWHERE
Things had gone to pot, real fast. The Reverse-Flash hand started to vibrate quickly and moved it towards Hiro. Baymax jumped towards the speedster to try and tried to grab him. The yellow speedster just simply moved out of his reach.
"Come now; you have to try better than that."
Hiro was doing better than that; up close, he noticed the machine strapped to the Reverse-Flash chest and to identify it as an energy storage machine that worked with biological beings. Hiro grabbed it and tossed it.
"No!" Reverse-Flash dropped him and tried to get it. Back, this Universe didn't have the energies that helped him run super fast; without the machine, he'd lose his speed.
As he was about to reach it, the machine suddenly spun straight into the air.
Peridot held out her hand, using her magnetism power to move it farther away beyond his reach. He spun his hands, trying to create a whirl beneath him to raise him into the air. His arms twitched, and he fell to the ground; he could feel it, his energies already fading.
"Somnus!" Charmcaster let out a spell forcing the speedster to fall asleep.
"Nice work," Gwen complimented her.
Charmcaster smiled, "It's nice to know you appreciate me,"
Before they could react, purple energy wrapped around Gwen; pulling her high into the air, Star Sapphire held out her ring. "My, my, you are very different. You glow with unique energy; it's something akin to our energy and maybe the white lantern entity." She studied Gwen, "You yearn for freedom."
"You think?" Gwen growled as she fought against her binding.
"You are torn between so many directions; you have great compassion and love in your heart. You wish to protect so many, to be there with them; you care so much. Yet you are still so lonely, only one truly close friend."
Gwen paused, she thought about her friend who she found out she was amongst those dusted. She had felt different; in many ways, she still did. Emily did help her make feel accepted. It wasn't easy to make friends when half the time your studying or fighting aliens. Outside of her Group, Emily helped; when she found out she was part-alien, Emily was the only one Gwen could talk about that and still feel like they weren't just saying what they thought she wanted to hear. If it weren't for Emily, Gwen wouldn't be Gwen.
"Yet your heart is torn and wounded. You, like everyone else, have lost your loved ones. Yet something's happened; something has changed. A spark has ignited within you; you fear it. You are aware of it, but you fear it. Fear of getting hurt, of being rejected, fear of being vulnerable, fear of being even more alone."
Gwen wanted to say something, anything but her mind was going blank. Like she was staring into her soul. Star Sapphire's words echoed in her mind, and as much as she wanted to fight against her restraints, something inside her felt comforted in them and didn't want to fight.
"You'd make a great Star Sapphire. Welcome sister, maybe you find your love once you awaken."
Gwen felt warm; she never noticed her bindings had changed into a crystal that had grown over her. She was incased into the purple crystal. Gwen was safe, comforted; it felt like she was with everyone she had ever cared for.
SAKAAR:
"Have you had your fun?"
Luthor looked over to see the Emerald Empress standing in the booth,
"Fine, fine, if you must," He turned on the GrandMaster's projection.
Suddenly the Emerald Empress was projected over the arena as tall as the stadium. She held out a large green eye, "Look into my eye."
The Emerald Eye of Ekron glowed, and its light covered the whole area; all of the fighters stopped as their minds fell to her spell.
Luthor on the side pouted, "It works, but now we have nothing to do until the timer is done."
Kamar-Taj
"Enough of this!" the Queen of Fables in her red dress opened up her book.
Temple grounds were soon replaced by a storybook forest, hiding the machine deep in it.
As the area exploded with trees and pushed several people out, the heroes who escaped the forest were left outside with villains ready to keep them out.
Those who didn't escape in time were dealing with trouble courtesy of the queen.
Scarlett dropped in the middle of the forest, her red cloak replaced by a red cloak and a modest dress. She heard something growl behind her, turning back to find a wolf three times her size.
"Okay, what big teeth you have." She ignited her hands.
Noelle found herself in the middle of a castle on top of a pile of beds. She also found herself wearing a royal dress; she also found the bed rather lumpy. She jumped off, as she died, a vine shout grabbing her. Out from under the beds crawled out a nasty-looking pea with a large jaw pulling her with its vines.
Charmy found herself inside a charming house and found three bowls of porage just waiting on the table. "Yummy!"
She quickly sat down to eat when the door to the room ripped open, and three monster bears walked in.
"Uh, you hungry?"
Yami was confused; he found himself in the middle of a clearing next to a huge and angry lion.
"Okay, I guess this is a thing,"
Vanessa found herself on the table; she wore a beautiful dress and more conservative than she was used to. She found an apple in her hand, and without thinking, she bit it. Suddenly sleep overwhelmed her. She quickly went into a deep, peaceful sleep.
"Oh, you have got to be kidding me." Elodie was the first to say anything.
Elodie, Red, and Enid found themselves turned into anthropomorphic pigs, wearing alter version of their clothes. They were in a comfy looking home made of straw.
"Why does this seem familiar?" Red asked, right before a large wolf's jaw ripped through the door.
"Idiots!" Zora yelled out, "Why did you take a swan!"
Zora, Finral, and Magna ran for their lives on top of a cloud while a giant so big they couldn't see his head chased after them. Magna saw a swan and grabbed it didn't even know why.
As they ran, they saw an enormous beanstalk sticking out of the clouds.
Itsuwa found herself next to a lake in the middle of the forest. A large frog jumped out of the lake. Its wide maw smiled, "Give us a kiss."
Hayley sighed; she has turned human again and put into a white and blue dress. Rhodey had been turned into a human-made of tin; Grey was some human-lion, Kanzaki as Scarecrow, which she found doubly ironic as she had just defeated one.
They were in the middle of a strange emerald building in the middle of the forest. As the large head of Lex Luthor was projected in front of them, "You'll have to forgive me, but I can't help myself. Who dares disturb the Great and Powerful Lex!"
TØNSBERG
Carol and Foxtail quickly knocked out Dr. Psycho and Abra Kadabra. Rippy Roo and Mickey ran ahead; there was a point when working with a kangaroo would have phased Mickey. They ran towards the machine in the distance.
BlockBuster and the Persuader waited for them to defend the machine. Mickey readied his weapon.
The sky exploded, thunder crashed. Adam and Thor fought high above the ground; as their punches collided, the very air trembled.
They crashed on the shore, the force evaporating the water.
Thor got up on his feet only to find himself suckered punched by Black Adam. Thor was pushed to the ground as Adam grabbed the hilt of Storm Breaker and readied it.
XANDAR
The Boxmore bots had charged at Count Vertigo and managed to dogpile him. Darrell took out some rope and hogged tied him. It turns out The Count's power to make people disoriented didn't work on robots.
To their surprise, they were doing pretty well.
"What was my time?" Darrell asked,
Ernesto responded, "Hm, you did better with that gorilla, Malla."
Shannon held the top of the brain, which was just a brain in a glass jar with a skull on it, "Uh, what should I do with this anyway."
Raymond disputed, "We aren't counting that one; you simply pushed it over and cut off the top."
"I cut it! That was an effort! It counts! If you were the one to get them, you would be saying it counted."
Mikayla, the large cat-like robot, dragged over Phobia, who could control none human minds. Jethro pulled over the severed and cackling head of the Floronic Man.
His siblings stared dumbfounded.
Ernesto just reminded him, "Ah, Jethro, we are supposed to be the good guys here. No severing heads."
"I am Jethro!"
"Yes, we will still count that one towards yours. You are in the lead of capture with a total of Four."
Luthor was still talking to Venomous, "You want to join our side?"
"I'm a survivor; they're dead set to try to save this world. It's a lost cause; I only went with them because it gave me a chance to have a meeting with you."
Lex smirked, "Oh, and why should we trust you? Why should we bother to save you."
"I can give you power." He motioned to that machine, "If you can siphon a bit of power from there-"
"I'll stop your right there; we've studied the energy of the stones. It's too dangerous to come in contact with; this form is even more unstable than holding the actual stones."
"I know a workaround,"
Venomous took out a glowing orb, "A glorb, something from my Universe. It can boost someone's power, natural abilities, and so on. It easy enough for a person to absorb it without issue; I've been working on that for years. But, what do you think would happen if we were to infuse one with some of the stone's energies."
Lex scanned the orb with the Mother Box, and it did confirm what he said. "It could potentially infuse someone with the stone's power. Now, something like that could be useful. I think we might have a deal."
VORMIR
Black Widow faced off against Mercy Graves; it was an even fight, both agile and well trained. Each blow was blocked, countered, and returned. The Black Widow looked at Mercy's cold glare; every action was calculated in this battle; emotions were left behind.
They pushed the other back, trying to get more distance, and they both pulled out their pistols and aimed. They each found themselves staring down the barrel of two guns.
Deadshot was forced to confront Hawkeye at close distance, and the archer was agile enough to dodge the shots. They aimed their attacks only feet away, and they fired. They were both blasted back; Hawkeye had shot an exploding arrow hitting the bullet and exploding.
"Gah!" Deadshot screamed out, the gun exploded, damaging his arm. Hawkeyes grimaced, his ears were ringing, and his vision was blurring.
That was when Merilyn fired his arrow right into Hawkeyes quiver, and it was an igniting arrow. Hawkeyes reacted quickly, tossing the quiver away, just in time to watch it explode.
Merlyn prepared another shot intending to end it, but something arrived.
Descending from the sky was a large robot, matching the height of the two stone pillars. In the cockpit was Lex Luthor looking at the people as they were ants.
Author's Notes: Okay, so notes. First off John Cryer is Lex for the arrowverse and voiced Felix Faust in Justice League Action, so thats why he can't stand the voice.
Honestly, I'm sure I had more notes, but I don't remember them now. I've been on a roll, and I've been having fun with the arc.
I think I need a step back before I burn out. So, I'm going to wait a week before I even start on the next update. So make it easier to read, and a bit simpler to write. The battles across the MCU will be done a bit differently. I'm not going to hop around as much. One or two of the world per chapter, maybe some of the background stuff, and mini looks into other worlds but more focused. And the Wakanda stuff, that going to happen throughout. So vote for the locations that came up here and those battles we will focus on.
I'm going to let you guys vote, which worlds come in next chapter. I'll pick the most popular ones, so vote in the reviews. Other let me know what you guys think? What you like? Who you want to see, and the alike. Others, lets keep working on the tv tropes. I'm doing some stuff on it now.
Q&A:
kingmaneane: I try, like I said I've been having fun with this arc.
AstralWhip: Maybe? I'll never tell.
Yeah.
Z:Okay, thanks for the note, I fixed.
Guest 01: I've been on a roll.
1. Luthor is the kind of guy who would let an alien invasion head to Earth knowing full well about it just so he can prove his leadership at the last moment and seem like a hero. In this case after seeing the fight with the armies in the garden, he just wants to make sure Thanos can't possibly hurt him.
2. Half the team are spies, they could disavow if things went wrong. One is a robot, and the other two are civilians. Hiro is the only one they were afraid of loosing. He's a natural treasure. Otherwise nothing could really be traced back to Japanese Government. They could help bring everyone back with little to no risk to themselves.
3. This is the second time something a Luthor does makes Metron act.
4. You got that one! Knowing characters help, I try to add foreshadowing and peoples history when I can.
5. Honestly, I'd still love it if Laura Vandervoort showed up in Supergirl to play Powergirl. It would be a great nod. Anyway, yeah, there are lots of worlds to work with so lots to play with.
problem, thats why I do this thing.I'm working on stuff in the back of my mind. I'm thinking on Madoka, she's a part of the universe, like a function of that universe, can she even leave it?
themaninthemirror2000: its about me knowing the worlds. Like the Steve Universe one are more peaceful, and have rules on fighting humans so it makes it easier for them to talk. So no huge arc. If they are naturally less trusting they might need more of arc. Or if I think something would happen in the world that would make it harder for them. Or if I can think of something interesting to do. Like for Ben 10, Gwen getting the omnitrix and recruiting villains for team. or if it would just take longer for them to find the mcu. I don't have everything planned, but I have a good idea of where I want it to go and where to end. I will make changes as I go but I got a road map. I know who I have plans for, and general fun ideas to doesn't make sense for me to bring someone in and then have them do nothing. so having some sort of a plan helps.
