My name is Donatello, and if there's one thing we've learned since we started coming to the surface, it's that things aren't always what they seem.
Take this Triceraton Tri-Base my brothers and I infiltrated, it looks like a space invader, but it's really just another leftover from the recent alien invasion. Then there's Oroku Saki, AKA, the Shredder. He seems to be helping rebuild the city, but he's really just interested in claiming all this leftover alien tech for himself. Finally, these ten foot tall metal amazon robots, as well as the kunoichi leading them: Karai! For all our sakes, I seriously hope that there's more to this situation than meets the eye.
…
In the main lobby of the Saki Corporation main headquarters, Oroku Saki stood before a mass congregation of government officials and media outlets.
"Mr. Mayor, ladies and gentlemen of the press," Saki addressed. "In recent weeks, I have been called 'the savior of the city'. In all modesty, I am merely a man fortunate enough to possess the means to jumpstart the rebuilding of this city. My salvage and construction teams will lead the way into turning New York from a warzone, into the shining metropolis it was meant to be."
This elicited applause from everyone present, except for one April O'Neil, who was standing in the back with Vernon.
"Nice speech," She muttered under her breath. "Wonder if these guys would applaud so hard if they knew what he really was?"
"Mr. Oroku!" a reporter called out. "There have been rumors about your ties to an ancient Japanese crime organization known as the Foot, one that has been terrorizing the city for over a year. Care to comment?"
Vernon smirked.
"I sent out a few anonymous tips about his dealings. Figured it would stir the pot and might get Shredder to peek through that holographic mask of his."
"I appreciate the effort," April told him. "I just don't know if it'll work."
"I personally find it highly offensive," Saki spoke. "Just because I am of Asian descent, you assume I am connected to ninjas."
"And what about your connections to groups like the Purple Dragons or the Turtelli mob?" the reporter pressed. "Or how you employed Baxter Stockman before his sudden disappearance from society? Or how your daughter Karai has not been seen for-"
"I'm afraid that's all the time we have for today," the Mayor spoke up, ussuring Saki off the stage.
"Mr. Oroku!" the reporter continued to press. "Mr. Oro-!"
Suddenly, Nakumo materialized by the man, hitting a pressure point that made him instantly lose consciousness. The ninja caught the fallen reporter, acting as if he was catching him after a fainting spell.
"Could everyone please back up? I'm afraid this man has been overwhelmed by the stress of today's events."
As Saki walked off, he shot a glare towards April's direction, who met the glare with no hesitation or fear. Vernon, on the other hand, gave a horrified shiver.
"Jeez. If looks could kill..."
"Come on, Vern. Let's go home before we end up like that reporter. Or worse."
…
Out in the city, the turtles were leaping from rooftop to rooftop, ready to engage in some late night training.
"Alright guys," Leo addressed. "Ready for some ninjutsu stealth and heightened senses training?"
"Oh yeah!" Mikey cheered. "Ninja hide and seek!"
"More than," Raph agreed. "So, who's it?"
"Well I was thinking that-" Leo began. "Not it!"
"Not it!" Raph and Mikey shouted in unison.
The three scattered, leaving Donnie alone on the rooftop. He looked around, then sighed.
"Well, I guess I'm it."
…
Donnie quickly got to work, hunting down each and every one of his brothers. He found Mikey first, the turtle tucked into his shell and hidden behind an AC unit. Donnie tapped the shell with his staff, causing the turtle to stick his head out.
"Aw man!" Mikey whined as Donnie leapt away.
…
Raph meanwhile had hidden himself in a dark alley, crouched down on a ledge and pressed against the wall to avoid detection. He felt a tap on his shell, turning to see Donnie standing next to him. He growled, pointing at Donnie with an accusatory finger.
"You cheater!"
Donnie didn't respond, merely jumping off to search for the third turtle.
…
With Leo, he managed to hide himself under a water tower, clinging to the underside as he waited for the game to end. However, he was shocked to feel the butt end of Donnie's staff poking the back of his shell. He turned in surprise, then let out a sigh of annoyance.
"Donnie..." He hopped down, crossing his arms. "You're missing the point of the exercise."
"What?" Donnie replied, flipping up the goggles he was wearing. "My senses were heightened. With infrared night vision goggles."
"It's cheating, that's what it is!" Mikey accused as he and Raph joined them.
"Hey I can't help it if you guys weren't 'infraready' for me," Donnie replied, chuckling to himself. "See? It's already heightened my sense of humor."
"How about we heighten your sense of pain, laughin boy?" Raph suggested, pounding his fist.
Before anything could go much further, Donnie's shell cell suddenly went off. He let out a breath, fishing it from his belt.
"Saved by the shell cell," he declared. "Hello?"
All he got in return was a very loud, high pitched noise, the very same noise he had been receiving for a few nights now. He let out a yelp, pulling the phone from his ear.
"Ugh, not again! Someone keeps trying to fax me or something. I didn't even know people still sent faxes."
"Yeah, yeah," Raph replied dismissively. "Now where were we?"
As Raph and Mikey moved towards him though, the sounds of a helicopter flying overhead causing the four turtles to stop in their tracks. A spotlight shined down towards the roof, prompting them to scatter and hide as it passed overhead. It was not alone, three others just like it flying towards the same location.
"What the shell is going on?" Mikey asked.
"Give me a sec," Donnie replied as he pulled out a pair of binoculars. "From the looks of it, they're cleaning up the salvage from Central Park."
"If memory serves, we made a shell of a mess there," Raph recalled.
"Uh-oh..." Donnie let out, focusing in on an insignia on the helicopters. "This salvage operation is one of Saki Corporation's!"
"Great," Leo lamented. "The last thing we need is Shredder with Triceraton tech. Come on, let's get in closer."
Donnie stowed his binoculars, then all four turtles descended from the rooftops towards the park.
…
Once there, the turtles concealed themselves as they watched several pieces of Triceraton technology being hauled away. As they got in closer, movement in the trees caught their attention. Leo let out a quiet curse, already reaching for his swords.
"Guys… this salvage op is protected..."
"Figures," Raph remarked, drawing his sai.
Several Foot Ninjas dropped out of the trees, surrounding the group. Don and Mikey drew their own weapons as the turtles took defensive positions.
"Was wondering when you boys would show up," Raph commented. "I could use the workout."
"You kidding?" Mikey quipped. "With these losers, we'll be lucky to break a sweat."
"Trust me, you'll be breaking so much more than that," an all too familiar voice retorted.
Shocked to hear it, the turtles looked up to see, of all people, Karai standing in the trees.
"Karai?!" Leo let out in astonishment. "What- What are you doing here?!"
"Getting rid of four pests that should have been eradicated long ago," Karai sneered, hopping down from the tree with her tanto drawn. "Now, which one of you would like to go first?"
"Karai, what are you doing?" Donnie questioned. "I thought you saw the light."
"And you honestly believed that? God, you turtles truly are pathetic. Did you really think I'd turn my back on the man who raised me my entire life to live in the sewers with you freaks? Not a chance. Foot, attack!"
The Foot Ninja all charged at the turtles, forcing them to flip backwards to ready themselves. Donnie quickly brought up his staff to block a Foot Ninja's sword, before swatting him in the face. Donnie recognized the metal clank that resonated from the impact.
"Guys!" he called out. "I think these guys are the Foot Mechs!"
"Great!" Raph cheered. "Then we don't have to hold back!"
Raph then jammed his sai into the Mech's stomach, causing it to spark with electricity before Raph kicked it aside. It collided with a tree before shutting down, allowing Raph to return to the battle. As Mikey duked it out with a few Foot Mechs, one landed to the side of him and shot out a chain towards Mikey. He quickly ducked under it, allowing the chain to wrap around the tree branch.
"Ha!" Mikey called out. "Missed!"
The Mech then pulled on the chain, snapping the tree branch off and allowing it to hit Mikey in the back of the head.
"Okay… that was a nice recovery..."
Leo meanwhile was clashing blades with Karai, the latter quickly taking advantage of his disoriented state to press her attack.
"What's the matter, Leo? You're supposed to be better than this!"
"So are you! I thought you finally abandoned the Shredder! Why are you doing this?!"
"Like I said, Leo, I'm not going to turn my back on my father to sign on with the freak squad! You may have made me doubt myself back on that ship, but my mind is clear now."
She then leapt up and kicked Leo in the face, knocking him back.
"Leo!" Raph called out, rushing to catch up to him.
Before he could, one Foot Mech shot out a chain to snag him on the leg, tripping him up. As Raph fell to the ground, a second Foot Mech drew its sword and prepared to slice off his head. Before he could though, Donnie came out and blocked the blow, shoving the ninja back.
"I think we're breaking a sweat."
"Yeah, I noticed," Raph replied, tossing the sai at the Foot Mech's head.
Surrounded by Foot Mechs, Mikey quickly extended his chain and spun the blade around, cutting down several of them. One of the Mech's managed to leap up and shot out several shurikens from it's wrist. Mikey brought up his second nunchaku and deflected the shurikens as best he could.
"Oh yeah, definitely feeling the sweat!"
Two more Mechs ran up and tried to cut him down, but Leo quickly moved in the way and blocked the blades with his own. Karai smirked, then came in swinging.
"Focus on your own battle, Leo!" she shouted. "I am your enemy!"
"No, you're not! You're our friend! Our-"
"Enough!" Karai snapped, shoving him aside. "It's time to end this, once and-"
Before the fight could continue, several police copters began approaching the area, shining spotlights across the park. Karai cursed under her breath.
"Foot, disappear!" she ordered.
Karai and the Foot Mechs quickly vanished into the brush, leaving the turtles to make a break for it as well.
...
The turtles quickly hid under a bridge as the copters flew overhead.
"Ok…" Leo let out. "What the heck was that?"
"It was an ambush… set up by Karai," Mikey answered, looking crushed. "But that's not right. She's on our side now… or she's supposed to be."
"I don't get it," Leo continued. "Why would she… I mean, she couldn't…"
"Of course she couldn't, Leo!" Raph suddenly snapped, grabbing Leo by the arms. "Come on, are you really that dense? Karai was willing to die because she didn't want to go along with Shredder's plans. She risked her own life to save Master Splinter. And, let's not forget how the last time we saw her, she was locked in a prison cell! There is no way in hell that Karai has done a complete 180 from prisoner to dutiful 'daughter' practically overnight!"
Leo paused, registering what Raph said, before finally steeling his face.
"You're right, Raph. Somethings going on here, and it's up to us to find out what."
"Luckily, I already have a few ideas on what may have occurred," Mikey declared before crossing his arms and thinking hard. "Amnesia?"
"A bit cliche, and it would be too convenient," Donnie shot down."
"Evil clone then."
"His previous experiments with cloning failed to yield the results Shredder was looking for."
"Okay… Android replica?"
There was a pause.
"Android replica, of course!" Donnie exclaimed. "Shredder has access to Kraang tech now, and we know he's been dabbling in robotics. I mean, remember the Splinter Bot he sent after us? It had us all fooled!"
"Yeah," Raph agreed. "And if he could do that with Splinter, building a Karai bot would be a walk in the park for him."
"And it would be the perfect tool against us," Leo realized. "He'd lead us to think Karai was on his side once again and it would throw us off our game, leaving us vulnerable."
"Scary thing is, it almost worked," Donnie remarked. "If those police had been any slower..."
"If Shredder's making moves like this, then he's got to be up to something big," Leo surmised as they all rushed towards the nearest manhole.
"And knowing him," Raph commented as they all descended. "Big for him usually means trouble for us."
…
At his mansion, Saki and the mayor were talking as they entered his office.
"So, should I be worried about that reporters accusations?" the mayor asked.
"Mere tabloid fantasy," Saki reassured, walking up to his desk and going over some papers.
"Ah, I should hope so. The last thing either of us need is bad press, especially with the city already on edge because of everything that's happened this past year alone."
"Indeed. Now, we need to discuss-"
"Master," Nakumo spoke up, entering the room. "We just received an urgent message-"
"I thought I gave instructions that the Mayor and I were not to be disturbed!" Saki snapped.
Nakumo choked, bowing.
"Apologies… sir. I was unaware you were in a meeting. I will see myself out."
Nakumo quickly and quietly slipped out of the room
"You'll have to excuse the rudeness of my assistant," Saki said to the Mayor.
"Did he call you Master?"
"He comes from a line of Samurai that served my family for generations. He and his still cling to the old ways. But, we are not here to discuss old traditions. We're here to discuss plans for rebuilding Times Square. I've reviewed your proposal and I'm afraid forty seven million dollars is out of the question."
"What? But-"
"You will require one hundred and forty seven million dollars. I hope you don't mind, but I've taken the liberty of wiring the funds into the city's account."
The mayor was speechless.
"Uh… I suppose you know best."
"Always," Saki replied, eying a set of ceremonial armor sitting in the room behind the Mayor.
…
"We've seen what Shredder can do with Kraang tech," Leo spoke up as they walked through the tunnels. "Just imagine what he could create with Triceraton Tech added to the mix,
"The results would be catastrophic," Donnie dreaded. "We need to put a stop to this before it gets out of our control."
"Sounds like it's time for us to pull off some good ole fashion sabotage," Raph declared.
"You mean, break stuff?" Mikey inquired.
"Oh yeah," Raph confirmed.
"You know, I think I saw some Foot copters heading towards the river!"
"Then let's check it out!" Leo declared as they all ran off.
…
Back in Saki's office, the Mayor had long since left and Nakumo returned. After the door closed behind him, he dropped to his knees before Saki.
"Please forgive me, Master. I did not mean to risk your ties to the Mayor."
"Fortunately, you said nothing too damaging," Saki replied, before quickly aiming a blade at Nakumo's throat, much to his surprise. "But in the future, you are to be excessively mindful of what you say and do while I am conducting our… legitimate business. Understand?"
"Perfectly, Master. I will not fail you again."
"Good." Saki retracted the blade and made his way to a changing screen. "Now tell me, what was so urgent that you felt the need to barge into my office?"
"The turtles were spotted near our Central Park salvage operation… by Karai and her legion. They engaged in combat until they were driven off by the police."
"Did they suspect?"
"On the contrary, they were falling over themselves attempting to 'reason' with her. Leonardo was particularly heartbroken."
"Perfect," Saki replied, stepping out with his armor on.
He removed the device projecting his holographic face before slipping on his helmet.
"The turtles' confusion will leave them vulnerable. Which we will then use to bring about their demise. Come, we have work to do."
Nakumo bowed as the two made their way to a large stone bust of Saki, Nakumo pulling out a remote and pressing a button to open it up, revealing a secret elevator inside. The two stepped inside as the bust closed up, allowing them to ride the elevator down.
…
Beneath the mansion, there resided a secret base of operations, the current lair for the Foot Clan and their various allies. This, unfortunately, included the various mutants, including Bebop and Rocksteady. The two were in the midst of an arm wrestling competition, with Rocksteady pulling out ahead. After a few moments, Bebop managed to get the upper hand, slamming Rocksteady's hand into the table, denting it hard.
"Ha! I win again!"
"Come on, it's not fair! How can a pig be stronger than a rhino?!"
"Maybe because I actually take care of myself. This little piggy ain't no slouch!"
"With that pot belly? The only thing you're taking care of is your stomach."
"Oh yeah? You wanna go, horn head?!"
"Bring it, pork chop!"
The two rushed at each other, tackling each other to the ground and beginning to wrestle. Slash, Tokka, and Rahzar watched the two tussle with annoyance and exasperation.
"Those two are hopeless, right Rahzar?" Tokka asked.
"Indeed, Tokka. Utterly hopeless. I wish we could just ditch these guys."
"Same here, but Carol and Jeffrey…"
"I know… I know…"
"Heh," Slash remarked. "You two are pathetic. It's a wonder why the master hasn't gotten rid of you yet."
"The same could be said for you, Slash," Rahzar sneered.
"Yeah," Tokka agreed. "You're no better than us. Just another freak at the Shredder's beck and call."
Slash gritted his teeth at that, grabbing the two by the throat.
"You wanna try that again?" Slash challenged. "Cause I promise you, you ain't gonna like what comes next."
Tokka and Rahzar both snarled, the latter having his hackles up all the way just as Shredder came in with Nakumo.
"Enough!" Shredder yelled, getting everyone's attention.
Slash quickly dropped the two in his hands and the two wrestling mutants froze mid fight. Rocksteady did deliver one last blow to his pinned companion after the fact, then both quickly got to their feet.
"I have no patience for such buffoonery. The turtles are getting close to our operations. I want them disposed of before they can interfere with my plans!"
"Then don't send a mutant…" the voice of Baxter Stockman commented, his brain pod with a holographic display of his head hovering out of the shadows. "To do a man's job."
"Surely, you don't mean you," Nakumo remarked.
"No, of course not. I'm hardly in any shape to be fighting. However, I have come up with something that should help with your turtle problem once and for all."
"I seem to recall you making similar promises in the past, Stockman," Shredder reminded, walking up to him. "What makes this one any different?"
"Because this time, the basis of my creation is something I know you will approve of."
At that moment, Karai walked into the room, approaching Shredder and kneeling before him. The sight of his daughter kneeling before him made Shredder smirk beneath his mask.
"We've already seen resounding success with 'Karai', have we not?" Stockman reminded. "So I decided to take the concept to the next level."
Stockman then led the group through a set of massive doors, which opened up to reveal three massive Karai themed robots, armed with swords, a spear, and a kusarigama respectively.
"Meet the Valkyrie Bots, programmed with every fighting style recorded by both the Foot Mechs, as well as from our own forces. Their martial prowess is unlike any other."
"More robots," Nakumo replied dismissively. "They will just crumble like all the others."
"If these machines are as impressive as you say…" Shredder pondered. "I will require a demonstration of their prowess."
Stockman's brain gave a bob, somewhat like a nod.
"Of course, master. Nakumo, if you would be so kind."
"Fine," Nakumo allowed, stepping forward and drawing his swords.
The Karai bot wielding the twin swords struck first, clashing blades with Naukmo at a rapid pace. Nakumo was barely able to keep up as the bot kicked him in the chest, knocking him into a wall. The bot wielding the spear made its move next, lunging his weapon forward and trying to stab him. Nakumo leapt up onto the spear and ran along it, hoping to decapitate the robot. Before he could though, the kusarigama bot shot out its chain, causing it to wrap around hin. The bot yanked on the chain and pulled Nakumo off, causing him to fall to the ground where the sword bot was waiting for him with its blades raised.
"Yame!" Shredder called out.
The bot froze, blade poised to execute.
"Well?" Stockman let out. "Impressive, are they not?"
"They have promise," Shredder admitted. "Whether or not they can defeat the turtles remains to be seen."
"Only one way to find out," Karai insisted. "They'll no doubt be out looking for me in some vain attempt to reclaim me. Let me lead the Valkyries out on a test run. I'll bring back their shells as souvenirs."
"Very well," Shredder allowed. "Oh, and Stockman, you'd best hope these robots work."
Shredder then extended his claw and grazed it against the glass of his tank, much to his horror.
"Or you'll lose the only thing that has kept you alive and of use to me… your mind."
"Uh… understood," Stockman responded.
…
Reaching the river, the turtles swam out to where the Foot Copters had been journeying to, realizing it was the downed Tri-Base in the Hudson.
"So that's what they're after," Leo recognized. "The Tri-Base."
"Looks like the Foot have made quite a bit of progress already," Donnie noted.
"Then what's say we slow em down a bit?" Raph suggested.
They dove back into the water, swimming through the now broken airlock and into the Tri-Base itself.
…
Once inside, the four of them made their way to an elevator shaft, easily able to walk along the wall of it.
"Man, this is so weird," Mikey commented. "Everythings all sideways-ey."
"It makes getting where we need to go easier," Leo replied.
"Only problem is we're not sure where it is we need to go," Raph pointed out, glancing at one of the elevator doors. "Still I know one way to find out."
He leapt up onto the door and used his sai to pry it open. Inside, they found an entire room full of Triceraton explosive devices.
"Check out the armory," Raph remarked. "We could have a wicked Fourth of July party with these bad boys."
"That, or we could turn this Tri-Base into the biggest bonfire New York's ever seen," Leo declared. "Don, think you know enough Triceraton-ese to figure out how to work these things?"
"I think so," Donnie replied.
…
The turtles continued moving along, coming to a massive opening in the floor. They looked down and saw several Foot Technicians working on disassembling an emerald pyramid.
"More Foot goons," Leo recognized.
"Industrious little monkeys, ain't they?" Raph noted.
"What's that thing they're carving out of the console?" Mikey questioned. "It looks expensive."
"An understatement as usual, Michelangelo," Donnie replied. "What you see there is the Tri-Bases power core."
"Whoa. How much juice do you think something like that pumps out?"
"Well, considering the Tri-Bases are essentially small metropolis', I'd wager there's enough raw power in that thing to wipe out the entire city. And most of New Jersey."
"So… Shredder having it would be bad."
"Extremely."
"Well then, they really should have had more than just goons on site," Raph smirked, already drawing his weapons. "We can take these chumps easily."
He quickly leaped down, kicking one of the Technicians into the water below. Upon seeing their companion fall, two of the goons pulled weighted chains off their belts, throwing them up at Raph. They caught him by the ankles and yanked him off his feet, prompting the other turtles to jump into the fray. Mikey landed on a platform and rushed towards a Technician, hoping to tackle him. However, the Technician grabbed him and flipped him off the platform, causing him to land on another platform below.
"Ow… guess ninjitsu is mandatory for the Foot…"
"Shredder isn't known for doing things by halves," Leo remarked, landing on the power core and clashing blades with a Technician.
Donnie landed on another platform, barely dodging a chainsaw one of the Technicians was using to cut through the Triceraton Metal. Thinking fast, he extended his blade and sliced through the handle, causing the Technician to drop it before Donnie batted him aside.
"Alright, we need to take these guys out before someone a bit more qualified comes knocking!"
"Working on it!" Leo called back, disarming the Technician and kicking him into the water.
Raph quickly dodged the chains the other goons shot out at him and leapt towards them, split kicking them and taking them out. Mikey meanwhile tossed a smoke bomb as his goon, disorienting him long enough for him to leap back up and kick him across the face, knocking him out.
"That's how we do it, turtle style!"
The turtles then convened at the power core.
"So, now we just need to figure out how to keep Shredder's cronies from coming back for this thing."
"Simple, by making it inoperable," Donnie responded.
"You said this thing was powerful enough to take out a city," Raph reminded. "How do we shut down something like that."
"The same way you would any power source," Donnie replied, lifting the lid as a drop of water fell towards it, causing a brief short. "With water. And lots of it."
…
Within a few minutes, the turtles grabbed several explosive devices and placed them all along the Tri-Bases asteroid underbelly. Once they were each securely placed, Donnie set the timers.
"Alright, timers set for one Trigon," Donnie informed. "About ten minutes. Once these charges blow, river water will flood in and short out anything that could be of use in here."
"Leaving Shredhead with nothin but a soggy rock," Raph remarked with a smirk.
"I wouldn't be so sure of that!" Karai suddenly called out.
The turtles turned to see Karai in the entrance way, her tanto in hand.
"Stay out of our way, Karai," Leo insisted, drawing a sword. "If that's even really you."
"What do you mean by that?" Karai questioned. "There's only one Karai."
"Yeah, and you ain't her!" Raph snapped, drawing his sai.
"Believe what you want, freaks. Either way, you're not leaving this place alive."
Karai was then joined by the three Valkyrie bots as they approached from behind. The turtles took a step back, drawing their weapons in response.
"Whoa," Mikey let out. "Check out the Karai bots."
"This has Stinkman written all over it," Raph sneered. "At least it also confirms our Robo-Karai theory."
"Then let's make em into scrap metal!" Leo declared.
The Karai bots readied their weapons and leapt into action. The sword Karai bot lunged at Raph, forcing him to backflip out of the way before darting into attack. His sai clashed against the robots swords, the two keeping a constant pace. Raph pressed his attack, causing the robot to use metal clamps to attach itself to the side of the cave wall as it continued to fight him.
"Oh, come on!"
Donnie meanwhile was dancing around the spear Karai bot, blocking its attacks as fast as he could. He activated the taser end and tried jabbing it forward, only for the bot to dodge the attack and grab the middle of the staff, throwing Donnie across the room. Donnie shook his head in pain as the bot tried bringing its spear down on him. Reacting fast, Donnie rolled over and brought up his staff to block the attack.
Off to the side, Mikey and kusarigama Karai bot were circling each other, spinning their respective weapons.
"Come on you cheap knockoff of the real Karai! Let's see what you can do!"
The bot shot out it's chain, causing Mikey to dodge as it cratered into a wall.
"Ok… not bad. But can you beat this?!"
Mikey shot out his own chain, causing it to lightly bounce off the bots chassis. The bot then grabbed it and yanked hard, pulling Mikey in close to kick him in the chest.
Leo meanwhile, clashed blades with Karai, his fury towards the situation ever growing.
"You are not Karai, so stop pretending to be her!"
"I'm the only Karai you need to worry about! Because you're gonna be dead in a minute!"
As the two locked blades, Karai shoved him into a wall, pushing against him hard. Leo held her back as best he could, but she was clearly stronger than him. Leo looked up, noticing one of the Triceraton explosive devices behind her and counting down fast. Not wasting a moment, Leo leapt up, planted his feet on the wall, and shoved hard, pushing Karai off and towards the explosive. The second Karai made impact, the bomb exploded. She was swept up in the massive explosion, blowing to pieces. As expected, this revealed her to be nothing more than a robotic facsimile.
"Karai bot!" Mikey let out. "I knew it!"
Just then, the other explosive devices started going off, much to the shock of the turtles.
"Come on!" Donnie called out. "Let's move!"
The turtles started booking it out of the room as the explosions shook everything. Water began flooding in, overtaking the turtles and seemingly burying the bots.
…
From his lab, Stockman watched the events play out on a monitor screen.
"Looks like you somebody's going to be out of a job soon," Slash remarked.
"Don't be too sure," Stockman remarked. "It'll take much more than a little water to take down my Valkyrie bots."
True to his word, the Karai bots pulled themselves out of the water and began climbing along the wall of the cave.
"Trust me Hun, I'm not the one being considered for early retirement here."
Slash just snarled in response.
…
Back in the Tri-Base, the turtles managed to breach the surface in the power core chamber.
"Everyone ok?" Leo asked.
"For now, yeah," Raph answered. "But we need to get out of here now!"
"Raph's right," Donnie agreed. "Once the water reaches the power core, it's gonna be electroshock city!"
The four made their way to some metal railing, climbing up it as quickly as they could. They managed to stay ahead of the water just as it reached the power core. Contact with the water caused the core to fizzle out, electrifying the water as a result.
"Whew!" Mikey let out. "That was close."
"Too close," Leo agreed. "At least those Karai bots were taken out as well."
"Uh, Leo…" Donnie spoke up, pointing up.
The four looked up and saw the three Karai bots standing over them.
"I really hate it when you say things like that," Raph remarked.
The three leapt down, forcing the turtles to leap out of the way. The sword one struck first, leaping forward and taking a swing at the group. Leo ran forward and blocked the strike with his own sword, allowing Raph to leap onto the blade and strike at the robot's metal hide. His blows did little more than scratch the robot as the spear bot stabbed at him. Raph quickly brought up his sai to block the blow, using all his strength to dislodge the spear from the bots hands.
"Donnie!" Raph called out.
Donnie quickly leapt up and caught the spear, giving it a hard swing at the spear bot, cleaving it in half. The top half fell into the water below, allowing Donnie to bat the bottom half at the sword bot, knocking it off its feet. The kusarigama bot quickly tossed out it's chain towards the turtles, prompting Mikey to throw his own chain in response. The two chains became entangled in each other, prompting Mikey to hook his on some of the railing. The bot pulled hard on the chain, trying to retrieve it. Leo however, quickly used his sword to sever the chain, causing the bot to fall backwards. Before it could get up, Donnie quickly jammed the robot's spear into the bot's chest plate, pinning it to the ground.
"That should get rid of them!" Donnie declared. "Now let's book it before we go down with the ship!"
The turtles nodded, quickly climbing up and out of the room.
…
The turtles quickly made their way back into the elevator shaft, huffing it as fast as they could. The shaft was beginning to tilt as the Tri-Base sank under the Hudson, making their run that much more difficult. The turtles quickly leapt onto the newly tiled wall that served as their floor, continuing their escape as fast as they could. Just then, a metal clang rang out, causing the four to turn and see the two Karai bots walking towards them, one sparking from the stab wound Donnie dealt to it.
"Seriously?!" Donnie let out. "These things again?"
"That's it!" Raph let out. "I've had enough!"
Raph then charged at the robots and leapt into the air, much to Donnie's horror.
"Raph wait!"
It was too late however, as Raph managed to kick both Karai bots into an open room.
"What?" Raph asked, landing on the ground. "Had to get rid of em somehow."
"All you did was cook our goose!" Donnie told him. "Those sparking Karai bots just landed in a room full of Triceraton explosives!"
"Oh…"
RUN!"
The turtles now bolted at full speed towards the nearest exit, the entire base exploding into a massive fire ball. They made it to the outer air lock, jumping free just as flames spewed forth from the opening. One by one, the turtles fell into the Hudson, still feeling the heat of the bombs.
"Hope the mutants on Mutant Island don't ask us to host a barbeque," Mikey remarked.
"Hold it," Leo spoke up, hearing the sound of a boat motor. "We've got company. Dive!"
The turtles all dove under the water as a boat rode up to the destroyed Tri-Base, with Nakumo at the controls.
"Nakumo, report!" Shredder ordered over comms.
"The Tri-base is completely destroyed, and there's no sign of the turtles."
"Disappointing… return to base!"
"Yes, master."
Nakumo then turned the boat around, driving it out towards the river as the turtles surfaced.
"Where's he going?" Donnie wondered. "The shore's in the opposite direction."
"Better question, you think he'd give us a ride to shore?" Mikey quipped, earning him a smack from Raph.
"Shut up and swim!"
…
Back at Foot HQ, if Stockman still had pores, or skin, he would have been sweating like crazy.
"This is it," Stockman dreaded. "I'm finished. I'm going to end up on a dissection table… again."
"Stockman!" Shredder called out, causing him to freeze up.
"Y-y-y-yes Master….?"
"Your robots have all been destroyed, including Karai.
"So it would seem…"
"This… is the closest we've come to finishing the turtles."
Stockman straightened up in surprise.
"Is… is that so?"
"Indeed. They lasted far longer than any of the previously constructed automatons, and kept the turtles distracted from my true objective."
At that moment, an elevator shaft opened up, revealing Nakumo with a large metal box.
"Which has been secured, Master," Nakumo confirmed.
"Well done," Shredder commended, walking over to him.
"If you wish me to analyse this alien artifact, Master-" Stockman began to volunteer.
"When I require your services, I will call!" Shredder cut off as he entered the elevator. "Just continue this new string of success, lest I be forced to consider how to rid the Foot of dead weight!"
Stockman gulped as the elevator closed up and descended.
"Master," Nakumo spoke up. "If I may speak freely…"
"You may."
"It's just… I've been going over the financials for the New York restoration project. Costs are beginning to escalate."
"Nothing to be concerned about," Shredder commented, opening up the box. "With what I have planned, money will no longer be an issue."
As the elevator reached it's floor, Shredder closed up the box as he and Nakumo departed for what appeared to be some kind of pod. The two got in with the cargo as the pod shot through a massive metal tube until it ended up in the water. The pod then jetted through the water, until it finally reached the sunken remains of the Technodrome.
