Christmas Reunion

SuperCat. It's been three years since Cat and Kara have seen each other. What better time to reunite than at Christmas?

It was so shocking that it made Supergirl swerve and come around for another pass. Every night, the hero patrolled National City and every night she came home by way of Cat Grant's penthouse. For a long time, the penthouse had remained dark but now, Kara could see lights in the windows and, as she focused her hearing, she picked up a heartbeat as familiar to her as her own.

"Cat," she whispered as she flew closer and then slowed down to hover outside the living room balcony. She didn't have to use her x-ray vision to find the older woman, who was curled up in an armchair in front of the lit fire, a glass of white wine on a coaster on its arm. Strains of music floated to the hero's sensitive ears and she recognized it as Nat King Cole's Christmas album.

Kara moved closer and touched down silently on the balcony, just watching as Cat took a sip and then tipped her head back, humming softly to the music. But then she smiled as green eyes opened and caught sight of her. The older woman's face eased into a warm smile and she got up to open the balcony door and step out into the warm evening. "Hi," she said softly. "I've been trying to work up the nerve to text you but… I was really hoping you'd drop by."

"Cat," Kara replied breathlessly, her eyes moving over the older blonde almost reverently. "You're here. Oh my God, I've missed you."

Their feet moved them together and their arms closed tightly around each other. "I've missed you too, Kara. Merry Christmas." Cat replied, letting her cheek rest on the hero's shoulder.

"Merry Christmas," the hero said, hugging just a tad tighter. Then she released her friend and took a couple of steps back. "Is Carter home with you?"

Cat's face grew a little sad. "No, he's actually spending Christmas with his new wife and her family this year." She smiled softly as she went to the balcony railing and leaned back against it. "But I'm happy for them. She's a very sweet woman and he's besotted with her. They got married in a beautiful, intimate ceremony on a beach in Hawaii six months ago."

Supergirl smiled as she crossed her arms and leaned against the rail herself. "Sweet. He's twenty… what now?"

"Twenty-four," Cat sighed. "The years have flown."

"I feel old," the hero chuckled. "He was just a kid the first time I met him. Now he's a man and I'm thirty-four. Jesus… ten years."

Cat scoffed. "Try being my age," she chuckled.

Kara's eyes met her friend's. "You're still as beautiful as the first time I saw you," she replied.

Cat swallowed as she felt the familiar attraction between them… the overwhelming attraction that had driven them into bed together more than once over the years. Kara had certainly changed and the openly admiring look on her face made Cat's body tingle. "Thank you," the older woman said with a smile bordering on flirtatious. "And believe me, being in your thirties looks good on you." She offered a hand in invitation. "Come in and have a drink?"

The hero took Cat's hand without hesitation and went with her as she walked back into the living room. "Wine ok?"

"Perfect," Kara said as she followed her friend to the kitchen. Cat pulled a bottle out of the wine cooler, uncorked it and took a breath as she realized her fingers were trembling. But she startled a little as Kara's hand covered hers. "Are you ok?" the hero asked softly, her greater height making Cat look up at her.

"Yes," Cat replied with a smile. "I'm just… You're here." But her eyes widened as something above Kara's head caught her attention. "Oh… my housekeeper has a sense of humor."

The hero lifted her eyes and she grinned when she found a sprig of mistletoe hanging from the pendant light above the island where they were standing. "Yeah, she does." For a long moment, they were quiet but then Kara squeezed Cat's hand. "Personally, I think it'd be a shame to waste a Christmas tradition."

"It would," Cat replied with a smile. She turned into Kara and pressed her hands against the crest on her chest as she looked up into her eyes. "Well… what are you waiting for, Supergirl?"

Kara uttered softly. "Cat, are you sure this is what you want?"

Then Cat's hand was caressing her cheek and bringing their lips together. At first, the kiss was a gentle brush of lips but then, as they both gasped softly, their heads tilted, and the kiss deepened slowly. Cat's hand left Kara's cheek and threaded through her hair. Their bodies pressed together, and Cat wrapped her free arm around Kara's neck, lifting up onto her toes to kiss the younger woman even deeper.

Kara's right hand caressed the back of the older woman's neck as her left stroked slowly down her back. It was slow and wet and deep, and after a moment, Cat had to take a moment to gasp in a breath before going back to the hero's lips for more. She couldn't stop kissing Kara. Three years of missing her poured into it and the hero moaned softly as her heart began to beat faster.

Then Kara gently eased back, pressing her forehead against Cat's and holding her tightly in her arms. "This feels so good," she whispered. "I've missed you so much, Cat." Her breathing was shallow with arousal and Cat's hand trailing slowly down her back under her cape made her desperate to feel it on her bare skin again.

The older woman moved her mouth to Kara's ear. "I know we need to talk but… bed?" she asked softly, letting the tip of her tongue caress its shell.

"Mmmm… I want you," Kara said, nibbling Cat's jawline and pulling a moan from her.

"Then I say again… what are you waiting for, Supergirl?"

And the hero just laughed softly. "Merry Christmas to me."
