Hi everyone, just a quick thank you to everyone who has been leaving reviews on this story i love reading what people think about it. There's not many chapters left of this story and the court scenes were added as a last minute thing to help it make sense more. I hope you're all enjoying it :)
The break was over quicker than they wanted it to, it making them feel more stressed and nervous than they were expecting. Ryan had this all planned out, they knew he had, they just hoped they jury would see through it once everyone had taken the stand against him so he can pay for what he did to them. Tori was up on the stand, explaining the sperm donation further, adding bits Ryan left out.
"When Ryan and Jasmine wanted to see Grace, is it true you allowed them to have unsupervised visits?" Mr Davis says.
"Yes, but at the time I wasn't aware of what they were doing. I thought they just wanted to support me in bringing Grace up." Tori says.
"Jasmine had posted on forums sites acting as Grace's real mother, as well as in mother and baby groups." Mr Davis tells the jury before turning back to Tori. "Is it true, that after you found out she was pretending to be Grace's mother, that you still allowed them to see her alone?"
"Well yes, but I didn't want to believe that they would do that to me. They seemed so genuine about the whole thing, I had people warn me against it but I really wanted Grace to have a father in her life." Tori says. "Once I realised that they were going to take Grace off me, and then being there when they tried taking her, I took out an AVO to stop it."
"But it says here that you still allowed visits once the AVO was in place, is this not correct?" Mr Davis says.
"Okay, yes I did-"
"So you took out an AVO against a couple wanting to be in Grace's life for what I can see no reason?"
"They tried taking my daughter from me without me knowing! Jasmine was still posing as Grace's mother and kept a photo book of just her as Grace, captions as if she was her mother. If I knew the full extent of what was going on, I would never have agreed to let them see my daughter."
"You knew they had tried taking Grace, trying to get custody of her, pretending to be her real mother, you still allowed them to see her."
"I know, and I regret doing that. I stopped contact as soon as I knew everything and had people telling me what they were doing. I never wanted Grace to be in danger, and it's clear Jasmine was not in a healthy frame of mind. She was so convinced that Grace was her daughter, tried taking her from me. Ryan allowed it all which he shouldn't have done if he really wanted to put Grace first." Tori blurts out.
"If you knew Jasmine was posing as Grace's mother, tried taking her from you, surely you would have wanted her away from your daughter, not still seeing her under an AVO?" Mr Davis says.
"I just wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt. We spoke about it and she said it was a mistake and she wasn't thinking straight. I believed it, I don't despite that, but as soon as I knew she was getting in my head, made me out as an unfit mother. She got so controlling that I stopped contact but she kept coming round, forcing her way inside." Tori says. "Grace's welfare comes first for me, and I had to put that first."
"Once you stopped contact between them and Grace, what happened next?"
"I didn't hear from them after that. I'd heard from people that they had unexpectedly left that week and no one knew where they had gone. Jasmine had quit at the hospital with immediate affect and Ryan had applied for an immediate transfer but didn't want anyone to know where."
"You worked with Jasmine at your last hospital, is that correct?"
"Yes, she was a nurse there for a few months in the ED, where I was lead doctor." Tori says.
"Did you notice anything weird happen whilst she worked there? It says here that she was known for taking medical supplies without a known reason."
"Yes, we had medical supplies go missing but never knew who it was. It wasn't until Jasmine left that I realised it was her."
"And what kind of medical supplies were taken?"
"At first it was just small supplies like bandages and saline. Then as it went on, more major supplies like morphine and general anaesthetic was taken." Tori says.
"Once the major supplies started going missing, did you not put anything in place to stop it, find who was taking them?"
"I did but she was finding ways around it, putting down fake patients names to get her hands on it. We wouldn't have been certain until going through all the patients lists and the medical supply lists." Tori says.
"You said they left very unexpectedly and didn't tell anyone where they were going. When was the next time you heard anything about them?" Mr Davis asks.
"It wasn't until about a week after Lillie was returned to Kyle. The officers who helped me get an AVO out against them told me that had abducted a baby and had kept her as their own for months."
"And how did you feel when you found out?"
"I was so shocked. I couldn't get my head around why they would take a baby from her father like that. It could have been me, it could have been Grace they took if I didn't stop it. What disgusted me the most, is finding out they never thought once about returning Lillie to Kyle, was going to keep her, bring her up as their own for good." Tori says, feeling herself about to rant again, and she couldn't stop herself. "If Heath hadn't have put another search out, the police finding out where they were living, they would have gotten away with it. Kyle would've had to live the rest of his not knowing where his daughter was, or who had her. I never want to go through that myself, so I can't imagine the pain he must have gone through every single day she was missing. Ryan and Jasmine are a dangerous couple, and they should never be around babies again after what they've done."
"That will be all, your honour." Mr Davis says, sitting down, Mr Langdon standing up to ask some questions.
"Dr Morgan, is says here in the notes that you later moved to Summer Bay, transferred to the local hospital. May I ask why?" He asks.
"I couldn't stay at our last place any longer, knowing what had happened there. I went to visit Kyle after he got Lillie back, and fell in love with Summer Bay. The whole town is such a close community and it's a place I want my daughter to grow up in. I transferred to Northern Districts when I heard they had a space in the ED, and thought it could be a fresh start for us."
"You've formed a good friendship with Kyle and Lillie, is that right?"
"Yes. It's kind of comforting being able to speak to someone who's had similar things happen because of the same couple. I could understand what he was going through more than some other people may have."
"And how would you say Kyle is being a father to Lillie?"
"He's the best father to her. They have such a strong bond and it's easy to see the things he would sacrifice for her. He has great support from his family and they all adore Lillie so much. There's no other place she'd be better off, because they provide more love than anyone else ever could."
"Thank you. That's all." Mr Langdon smiles, sitting back down.
Tori was then taken back down off the stand for a break, feeling like she did the best she could. She met the others outside, and the Braxton's thanked her for praising them. Although Kyle's nerves were getting worse, knowing he was due to take the stand soon. What they weren't expecting was the Judge wanting Casey to take the stand at last minute's notice after Marilyn, as requested by Mr Davis.
