Mitsuharu

Title: Mitsuharu
Rating: T
Fandom: Detective Conan
Summary: There were only three kids of the Akai Family, right? There was no way that Masumi had a third older brother. So why the hell were these people calling him Akai Mitsuharu? More importantly, how the hell was he even alive!? [OC Insert as Akai Sibling]

Haru was dining at Café Poirot with Ran, Conan, Sonoko, and Masumi. His leg was still injured and in a cast so he wasn't allowed to continuing working until it was healed up. "The three of us should form an all-female band!" Sonoko announced.

"Why the sudden interest?" Masumi asked.

"I saw it in a move last night," Sonoko answered. "The girl band which featured in it was so cool!"

"Sonoko-neechan, what instrument can you play?" Conan inquired.

"I can play the drums," She claimed. "Also, the female drummer in that movie resembled me! She was so cool!"

"Then what shall I play?" Ran questioned.

"You have long black hair, Ran, so naturally you'll be the bassist!" Sonoko replied. "Even the bassist in the movie looked similar!"

"But…I've never played the bass before…" Ran pointed out.

"Ran, why don't you be the keyboardist?" Haru suggested. "Masumi can play the bass,"

"A fired of my brother once taught me how to play it," Masumi agreed.

"We're going to perform at the Beika Festival at the end of the year!" Sonoko declared, holding up the poster. "We're going to take the entire competition by storm and we're going to win!"

"That sounds fine but we don't have anyone in charge of the guitar," Masumi reminded.

"Oh yeah, nobody in our class knows how to play the guitar either," Sonoko looked to Amuro who was currently clearing a table. "Azusa-san, you can be the guitarist in our girls band! One of the women in the film's band was also named Azusa and she was very proficient at playing the guitar!"

"That's not really good reasoning there," Haru sweat-dropped.

"I don't have any experience in playing a guitar," Azusa said. "Besides, I'm a little too old to be called a 'girl',"

"No problem!" Sonoko told her. "If you just slip on our Teitan High School skirt, then no one will know the difference! It won't be too hard, even your face looks like a cute loli!"

"B-But isn't it really difficult to learn to play the guitar?" Azusa hesitated.

"It'll be a piece of cake!" Sonoko assured her. "Just practice often and you'll be able to strum to it in no time!"

"A piece of cake, huh?" The men from a nearby table held up his electric guitar. "If it's such a piece of cake, why don't you play it and show us? Here, I'll lend you mine. It's a new model and it's got a good amplifier. Let's see what ya got,"

Sonoko attempted to follow the placement she saw in the movie but when she strummed, it sounded very off-key. "Heh, I knew it," Man #1 scoffed.

"So she was just a load of big-talk. It can't be helped," Man #2 added. "After all, she's just a girl,"

Seeing his friend was close to tears, Haru stood up before Amuro could approach her. "Give me the guitar," He winced as he put pressure on his broken leg. "Lastog, I don't like those that make my friends cry," He started playing Bleach Opening 9, Velonica, surprising everyone. "With enough practice, I'm sure my friends can play as well as me," He returned the guitar. "Right?"

"Y-Yeah…"

"Haru, you'll be the guitarist in our band!" Sonoko declared.

"Broken leg and it'd look weird sitting on the stage," Haru pointed out. "Not really interested either. What about Amuro-san?"

"Ah no, I don't really want to attract any attention," Amuro refused. "But I do know how to play a guitar. I could tag along with you for your practice session. How about we go to the recording studio now and conduct a rehearsal?"

"I'm heading home," Haru yawned. "Have fun,"

"This leg is such a pain," Haru groaned.

"You need to be more careful," Subaru advised.

"I tried, okay? I even used a special suit to help me," He fiddled with the power enhancing boots of his Scarlet Dragon suit. "Unfortunately, I wasn't able to fully test run it before Darkest Nightmare happened. I…" 'Curacao…' "I wanted her to live,"

"It's not your fault, Haru," Subaru told him. "You can't save everyone, remember?"

"I know," Haru nodded. "I know and that's what hurts so much," He leaned back to stare at the ceiling. "Will I ever succeed in saving anyone?"

"You saved Akemi," Subaru reminded.

"I'm gonna be honest with you, Chewy," Haru sighed. "If Akemi hadn't befriended me, there's a high chance that I might've just let Akemi die,"

"But in reality, you saved her," Subaru said. "She's alive. Forget about that what-if. Akemi's death was in the canon timeline like you said. This isn't the canon timeline,"

"I don't even know if Dad's alive. He was just listed as missing and presumed dead in the Detective Conan World wiki," Haru placed his tools back down on the table. "Hey Chewy?"

"Yes?"

"At the start of Dimensional Sniper, I encountered the woman who summoned me and Jonah to this world," Haru recalled. "I had the chance to ask one question. I could've asked how to defeat the organization. I could've asked if Dad was really alive. I could've asked how to revive Kohji. There were so many things I could've asked. But do you know what I actually asked her? I asked her if my parents from the Real World also reincarnated into this world!"

"Did they?" Subaru questioned softly.

"No," Haru shook his head and blinked away the tears. "They didn't. I was the only one of my family to reincarnate here. My parents…Marinette and Adrien Field…they died and stayed dead. I often thought that there was a chance that I'd eventually meet their reincarnates in this world, but I had confirmation that they didn't reincarnate. I wasted my one question on something so stupid,"

"It's not stupid to want to know the status of your family," Subaru told him. "I know I can never truly understand how you feel. You lost both of your parents and ended up also losing your life that day. Even though Akai Tsutomu and Akai Mary are your parents too, they can never replace Marinette and Adrien Field. All four of them are your parents,"

"I never really mourned them when I first reincarnated," Haru admitted. "When I realized I was reborn and started recognizing some of the people around me, my thoughts immediately forgot about my parents and instead focused on my new family. I was like 'Oh Arceus, I'm part of the Akai Family! What the hell is going on!? Masumi only has two older brothers, not three!'"

"There were too many things happening at once," Subaru reminded. "You were overwhelmed by the multiple events,"

Haru finished repairing one of the boots except for repainting them. "Even though you started training me in Jeet Kune Do, I still ended up being so weak,"

"You haven't mastered it yet," Subaru pointed out. "Did you think Masumi became a professional at it in just a couple months? No, it takes years of practice. And of course there are some people who are stronger than you, especially those that are armed with weapons. Given the fact that you are my younger brother, reckless, and also the Replacement Detective, I know you're bound to end up in dangerous situations,"

"Oh Arceus, why do people still call me by that title," Haru groaned. "Can someone come up with a cooler name?"

"Nicknames aren't really important," Subaru told him.

"Maybe not to you because Silver Bullet sounds way better than Replacement Detective," Haru rolled his eyes and he started to work on the other boot. "The farthest I remember is the Shogi Players Murder Case. After that…after that I won't know what will happen. We'll be continuing life blindly,"

"That's how life is," Subaru said. "Life is unpredictable. We just need to choose how to deal with the events we experience,"

"It's terrifying to know that the organization exists but not know what major events they'll partake in," Haru sighed. "The Shogi Players Murder Case seems so far yet so close at the same time,"

"Fear of death is worse than death itself," Subaru placed a comforting hand on his brother's shoulders. "Don't let your fear cause paranoia. And remember that you're not alone. You have your family and your friends by your side. We'll get through the unknown together,"

Haru really needed a pep talk.
