Now it was Marilyn's turn in the stand. They had started by asking about her connections with the Braxton's, confirming that she was a babysitter for Kyle when him and his family were unable to look after Lillie due to work. They had then gone on to what happened the morning of Lillie's abduction, trying to understand how she didn't hear anything.

"Where were you exactly before you realised Lillie was gone?" Mr Langdon asks.

"I was in the laundry room getting Lillie's spare baby grow from the dryer." Marilyn replies.

"And what happened afterwards?"

"I went back out to put it in the travel bag when I saw the pram was empty and the front door was slightly ajar, which I know for sure I had shut it when I got home."

"And you didn't hear anyone enter in the time you got the baby grow?"

"No, nothing."

"What happened once you saw the pram empty?"

"I got straight onto the police to report it. They came almost straight away and started investigating, but nothing was coming up. There was no DNA, witnesses outside or anything on CCTV." Marilyn says.

"You didn't see anyone acting suspicious outside your house, on the street?"

"No, I didn't see anyone when I took her back to my house. But I'm directly next door and we're on the end of the street."

"Did anything seem different with Kyle when you went to collect Lillie from him?" Mr Langdon asks.

"Well he seemed a bit stressed out. He had increased his hours at work and was due for a meeting, his first one since Lillie was born. But when I got there, I was a bit early. He had already fed her and she had been changed, so all I had to do was put her down for a nap when it was time for it." Marilyn says.

"When you babysat for Kyle, was he always prepared to hand her over?"

"Yes, he always made sure she had been fed and her nappy changed. The travel bag was also prepared every time. Sometimes I felt like Kyle was more organised than me when I returned her." Marilyn says with a small smile.

"So you think he was sometimes too organised?"

"No, you can never be too organised. I thought it was good because then it's easy to know what's been done and what was due to be done. Kyle had a very clear schedule that was easy to keep to when Lillie didn't use those big eyes of hers to get out of naps." She smiles.

The rest of Marilyn's questioning went well and Mr Langdon was pleased with the reaction he saw throughout the Jury. They hoped it would continue to go well, but Casey was up next. They still weren't sure why, but Mr Davis was up to as questions instead of Mr Langdon, confusing the brothers.

"You were kidnapped by Kyle after you killed his father, Danny Braxton, is that correct?" Mr Davis asks.

"Yes." Casey sighs, hating where this was going.

"It says in your statement given to the police after your kidnapping that he left you to die in a desert after assaulting you, is this right?"

"Well, yes-"

"And you forgave him in the trial?"

"Yes."

"How was your relationship with Kyle after your eldest brother, Darryl, moved him into your house once the trial was over?" Mr Davis asks.

"It wasn't great. I was angry that he had just seemed forget about it, which I now know wasn't the case. I forgave Kyle in the court case, but I never expected to be living with him after it. I thought he'd go back to Melbourne and I could forget it ever happened." Casey replies.

"At what point did you both start getting closer, or do you still hate him and just not show it?" Mr Davis asks.

"No, I'm not faking it. Kyle's my best mate, we have a lot more in common than we thought and we put the bad things behind us, moved on for the sake of our family."

"Was your relationship made worse when you found out that you had no blood relation to him, Danny Braxton not in fact being your father like you believed since birth?"

"It was hard for a bit but it didn't matter to us in the end. We're brothers by choice and through our older brothers." Casey says.

"Did you kidnap Kyle and hold him hostage in the same place he kidnapped you not long after the original trial date for him?"

"What? No-"

"You took him to a forest and were both missing for a whole night. Is that not true?"

"I took him to the forest so we could talk in private, clear the air. He got into the car of his own accord." Casey says, lightly frowning at where this was heading, and if he was messing the case up for his brother.

"And what happened whilst you were out there?"

"Objection, relevance to the case?" Mr Langdon asks.

"Objection approved. Is that all, Mr Davis?" The Judge asks.

"Yes your Honour." Mr Davis says, taking his seat as Mr Langdon stands up to ask some questions.

"Where were you when you found out Lillie Braxton had been taken from Mrs Chambers?" Mr Langdon asks.

"I was travelling in Europe with my wife, Denny." Casey says. "We came back as soon as we heard what happened."

"When you arrived back, what were things like regarding Lillie's abduction?"

"She was only months old, we didn't know where she was or who had her, so you can imagine how worried we were. The police couldn't find any traces of DNA on the pram or the door they used to get in, so that made things worse." Casey says.

"And how was Kyle when you first saw him?"

"Stressed, exhausted. Took a lot of convincing to get him to try and get him to leave a bit of time for himself."

"And why was that?"

"His daughter was missing and he wanted to be out there looking for her. He blamed himself for not being there when it happened, to have some sort of lead on where she was."

"At what point would you say Kyle's mental health got worse?"

"I'd say it was after the police called off the search for Lillie. He never thought he'd see her again, none of us did."

"Kyle spent some time in a canine mental health clinic after self harming that led to hospitalisation. How would you say he was after he came home?"

"A lot different, but in a good way. He was finally focusing on himself and had no thoughts of self harm again. It was great seeing him returning to his old self."

"And once Lillie was found and returned to Kyle?"

"It was hard for the first part of it as they had to get their bond back. We were worried about Kyle relapsing as he stopped sleeping to make sure no one would get in and take her again, he didn't want to leave the house and he won't let anyone but us look after Lillie when he had appointments." Casey replies.

"By 'us', you mean you, your brothers and your wives?"

"Yes."

"Do you feel like it's more of your responsibility because Kyle is a single parent?"

"Not really, no. He may not have a partner to help him, but he goes above and beyond for Lillie. We help when he needs it but he's smashing this single parenting and Lillie's got the best person bringing her up." Casey says.

"Thank you, that will be all." Mr Langdon smiles.

Court was then adjourned for a break, giving them a chance to catch up. Mr Langdon thought that Casey speaking may have helped the case in a way, even though Mr Davis was doing it to jeopardise the case and get Ryan off. Kyle was due up after lunch and he wasn't looking forward to it, seeing how the others had been really tested by Mr Davis.
