November 7

This morning as I went to Kaede's house to bring her some herbs, there was an extra bounce in my step and a smile on my face as I thought of the plans Inuyasha and I had made this morning.

It was just after breakfast and I was getting ready to head out. However, Inuyasha suddenly pulled me into his arms for a deep, passionate kiss. Afterward my heart was beating fast and my chest rose up and down as I tried to catch my breath. There was a satisfied smile on his face.

"What was that for?" I asked.

"Because I love you, Kagome. I can't randomly give my wife a kiss?"

I giggled. "You could stand to do it again."

So he did, just as sweet as passionate before. After a few minutes, I had to pull away. I knew if I kept going I'd never be able to go do what I was supposed to do today.

"How about we go on a date this evening?" Inuyasha said.

"Of course!" I said with excitement. "Any ideas about where?"

"Where do you think we should go?"

"Hmm...I like the lake down the road from the village."

"Then we can go there. We'll do something extra special."

He had that mischievous glint in his eyes where I knew he was planning something. It made me even more excited. "I'd love that. I'll make sure to be back by this afternoon."

He pressed another kiss to my lips. This one was gentle but lingering. I knew I would be thinking about it all day until I saw him again. "I love you, beautiful."

My heart fluttered as it did every time I heard him say those three words. "I love you too."

After one more kiss, we reluctantly parted and I went to gather my herbs for Kaede. The whole time I was smiling as I thought about our date night. It was always so special when we got to spend time together alone like that and I was very much looking forward to it.

I got to Kaede's house and she let me in. "I brought your herbs."

"Thank you so much, Kagome. I really appreciate this."

"It's no problem at all," I said as I started to put them away for her.

"You look happy," Rin said to me from where she was sitting on the floor.

"You do," Kaede observed. "What happened?"

I giggled. "Oh, it's nothing major. Inuyasha and I are going on a date tonight."

"Ooh, that's so nice!" Rin said excitedly. "Where are you going?"

"Just to the lake down the road."

"That's cute. Inuyasha's so good to you."

"Yes, he is," I said with a happy sigh. Then I remembered something. "Oh, by the way, Rin, we saw Sesshomaru a few days ago."

"You did?"

"Yup. He misses you too. He said he's been very busy lately but he'll come to visit you in a few weeks."

Rin looked very happy about this. "I can't wait! I've missed Lord Sesshomaru so much."

"Well, I'm going to head home. I've still got some cleaning to do before we head out."

"Have fun with your husband, dear," Kaede said with a knowing smile.

I blushed a bit. "I will. Bye, you two."

I went home, still bursting with excitement about our date. Inuyasha wasn't home. I wasn't sure where he had gone off to, but it gave me plenty of time to focus on some cleaning. I spent some time dusting, sweeping, and mopping until everything was clean and organized.

By the time I was done I was covered in dust and cleaner. Since Inuyasha wasn't home yet, I decided to heat up some water to take a bath. After spending so many months here I'd gotten used to things like having to heat up water manually. Even though I've more or less gotten used to it by now, I still missed being able to just turn the faucet to run a hot bath.

Once I was done with my bath, I put on one of the lingerie sets Inuyasha and I had gotten when we were in my era. I figured this would make for an interesting night. Over it, I put on one of my favorite kimonos. I decided to leave my hair loose and I put on my favorite gold necklace that Inuyasha had gotten me.

By the time I was finished getting ready I heard the bedroom door open and Inuyasha came in.

"Welcome home, honey," I said as I turned to him.

A smile touched his face. "You look lovely, Kagome."

I felt myself blush a bit. Inuyasha has told me a million times how beautiful, gorgeous, lovely, and pretty he thinks I am but it makes me blush every time. "Thank you."

I stood up from my place at the vanity and went over to him. He pulled me into his arms and kissed me. "Are you ready to go?" he asked.

"Yes, let's go," I said. I was still bursting with excitement about the whole thing.

"You look happy," he said when we left the house.

I giggled and hugged his arm. "Because I love being with you, honey."

He hugged me back. "I'll make sure you have fun." Then he pulled me onto his back and started to run. I held onto him as he ran into the familiar direction of the lake. He ran past the place where we usually sat though.

"Where are we going?"

"Just over here." He went a little bit farther down and I noticed there were boats docked at the pier by the edge of the lake.

"I've never noticed these before," I said as I got off his back.

"You're very unobservant."

I laughed and pushed his arm. "Oh stop."

I followed him over to the pier. He stepped into one of the boats first and took my hand to help me in. Just as I stepped in I slipped and fell into his arms. I looked up at him with my face red from my clumsiness.

"Careful," Inuyasha said comfortingly.

A smile touched my face at that.

Then I sat down and he rowed the boat out into the lake. It was cooler out on the lake; a light breeze blew through our hair and the water sparkled under the evening sun.

I watched my husband as he rowed the boat. His long white hair blew lightly around his face. His gold eyes seemed to shine. He looked at me and I looked down blushing again but for a different reason this time.

After a few minutes, he stopped rowing and let the current carry us. When I looked back at him and we became lost in each other's gaze. Then he held my hands. We leaned towards each other as if there was a magnet drawing us towards each other. Heads tilted, eyes closed, our lips connected for a sweet gentle kiss. We pulled back for only a moment and kissed again much more passionately.

When we broke our kiss we looked into each other's eyes. His captivated me as they always do. "I love you," I said.

He ran his thumb across my hand. "I love you too, Kagome."

"Have you come out here before?"

"Well...once. It was a long time ago…" I noticed the way he looked past me, like he was trying to avoid making eye contact with me.

"When was it?" I asked curiously.

He hesitated for a moment. "Kikyo and I came out here once…"

I could tell he was reluctant to bring up Kikyo around me considering our past with her. But that's what it was, it was in the past. I gave his hands a comforting squeeze. "It's okay. That was a long time ago. We can make new memories together."

A grateful smile formed on his face. "You're right. We've made so many of them lately."

"And we'll make many more."

Something floated by in the water. He reached in and picked it up. It turned out to be a starfish. "I didn't know starfish were in here." He felt something tickling his hand and turned it over where the suction cups were. "What the hell?"

I giggled. "There's a lot of crazy things in the water."

He put the starfish back in the water. "I'll say. I thought there were only fish and tadpoles in this lake."

"You should see the things at the bottom of the ocean. There's actually a fish with a light on its head."

Inuyasha laughed. "That's impossible."

I shook my head. "No, it's not. I've seen pictures of it in my era. And there's a fish with giant teeth."

"A shark?"

"It's not as big as a shark though. I've always wanted to go underwater and see what it's like down there."

"But you'll drown."

"In my era, there are things that can make you go underwater for hours."

He rested his head in his hand. "Is there anything you can't do in your era?"

I thought about that. "Um…hmm, I'll have to think about that. Well, we haven't gone everywhere in outer space, only to a few planets."

"When I was young, I used to wonder if I went to another planet or another world, would they accept me as a half-demon."

"You can't do that," I said.

He raised his eyebrow. "Why not?"

I squeezed his hand again. "Because I'll be all alone."

"I'll take you with me. Then we can live together forever."

"I guess we'll have to settle for living together here."

"I can deal with that."

He reached over and kissed me again in response.

Then I looked out at the bright reddish-orange sunset. "The sunset looks gorgeous."

"You want to know what's even more gorgeous?"

"What?"

"You are."

I smiled. He never seizes to flatter me. "Inuyasha."

"You really are gorgeous Kagome. I've always thought you were."

"Really?"

"I couldn't imagine loving a more beautiful girl."

"But Kikyo and I looked just alike."

He shook his head. "You have something more. Your eyes shine more than hers did. And your smile lights up your face to make you the prettiest girl ever."

I kissed his lips. "You always know just what to say."

He looked up at the sky. The sun was still setting and it would be dark soon. "I guess we should head back before it gets too dark." He rowed the boat back towards the pier. Once there he got out of the boat and helped me out as well.

I put her arms around his neck and hugged him. "Thanks for taking me here, Inuyasha."

He hugged me back tightly. "You're welcome. Anything for you, Kagome."

We're back home now and I'm sitting here writing as usual. This was such a romantic evening. I love being able to spend time with Inuyasha like this. But now that we're back, I want to show him what's under this kimono I'm wearing. I think that will be the perfect way to end the night.
