yukihimebmf asked:
following the prompt that anon made, what do you think anna's first day/ week as the queen of arendelle was like?
The redhead rubbed her temples with a long sigh.
Elsa's ice statue tilted her head sadly. "Anna, once again, if you want me to come to the castle, just ask..." She insisted in a crystalline voice, the magical sound reverberating like she was talking through a tunnel of glass.
Which, in a way, was kind of what happened, except that the tunnel was distance and the system was magical, but Anna didn't have the time to think about how it worked nor the time to admire her sister once more for her skills, because she was utterly busy. However, she dismissed the suggestion with another hand gesture.
"No, it's fine, I can handle it."
She looked at the numerous piles of letters and books on the desk, which now was her desk - a notion she would have to get used to, and it was really weird for now - and sighed once more.
The ice statue walked closer, its magical aura reflecting on the wood like the source of light that it was, in every meaning of the term. Anna saw it at the corner of her eyes and lifted them. She had a sad smile, and flipped some of the mess surrounding her.
"Seriously, I insist. If I can't handle a little paperwork for the transition of power, then what will it be when the meetings will come?"
Elsa didn't add anything, simply looking away. Anna thought she was thinking in introspection, but she noticed that her ice blue eyes seemed to stare at something.
She frowned. "Excuse me, are you staring at a letter on my desk? I'm still unfamiliar with that whole distant magic thing."
The ice statue straightened, and smiled. "Oh, no, it's just that Bruni is playing around with dead leaves, and I'm making sure he doesn't start a fire." She giggled, and the sound of it magically echoed in the room.
Anna grinned. "I'm glad he's up there and not here. If he had set my papers on fire, I'd have gone mad."
The Snow Queen laughed. "Don't worry. I'll make sure that nothing disturbs you. You don't want my help, so it's the least I can do."
Her laugh ended up vanishing, and a silence passed as Anna sorted the papers. She could tell that Elsa was awkwardly waiting to say something. Of course, she was magically standing right in front of her in a statue, and it was almost still, yet it was perceptible that Elsa was still active at the other end of the communication.
"What is it?"
"Uhm?" Muttered the ice statue.
"What do you want to tell me?"
She hadn't lifted her gaze as she searched for a reference in one of the books, and when she finally looked at her elder's ice eyes, she saw astonishment. The redhead chuckled. "Elsa, please, I know you. And the tension is perceptible since the early afternoon. What's on your heart?"
She hesitated, then spoke.
"Do..."
Another silence passed, and Anna swore that if she genuinely was next to her sister, she would hear her gulp. She looked elsewhere to help her be comfortable asking.
"Do you enjoy this?"
Anna froze in her page flipping to stare at her elder. "What do you mean?"
"Do you... Genuinely enjoy this new role? With all that it implies?" Asked Elsa in a sad voice, gesturing not only to the desk, but to the room in general and the legacy that came with it, and also the formal attire Anna was wearing since her public speech that morning and the responsibility that came with that.
Anna sighed, but against all odds, she smiled tenderly. "The paperwork? Of course I don't. You know me as well as I know you. But the rest of it? I do. With all my heart. This is why I want to succeed in this study stuff. It dislike it, but it helps for everything else on my schedule. I'll ace it, don't worry."
Another silence passed, and Elsa had an expression in between distress and pride for her younger sister. She looked down, and Anna knew this time that it wasn't to look at something on her side.
"Say, is that a tear that I see running down your cheek?" Smirked the redhead.
The Snow Queen blinked, lifting up her head and rubbing her skin confusedly. "...What? No, there's nothing..."
"Come on, I saw something. Or maybe it's the ice that is melting..."
Now Elsa frowned magical eyebrows. "That can't be. You know well that my ice is unmeltable."
Anna brought her hand to her chin, mimicking a deep thinking as she stared at her sister's pout. "Hmmm... Then why is your mouth falling down at its sides?"
Her elder widened her eyes. Was it? It couldn't be possible, because she had perfectionned this technique! How could- Then it hit her.
"Wait, you're teasing me, right?"
The redhead cackled, slamming her hands as she laughed. "Yes! Oh gosh, your confusion. That really was hilarious."
"Not funny." Groaned the elder. "I'll freeze your butt."
"Ha-ha-ha. Keep that for next Friday."
Another look of confusion passed on Elsa's face.
"What, you think that because you live in the forest now, you will escape family game night? Nope, I have set myself the goal to find a game where you're good at and I will not give up that easily."
"Anna..."
"By the day you'll come, you'll see; I'll master those pompous letters."
Elsa smiled tenderly. "I can't wait to see that."
