Mitsuharu

Title: Mitsuharu
Rating: T
Fandom: Detective Conan
Summary: There were only three kids of the Akai Family, right? There was no way that Masumi had a third older brother. So why the hell were these people calling him Akai Mitsuharu? More importantly, how the hell was he even alive!? [OC Insert as Akai Sibling]

Haru, whose broken leg had fully healed, was with the Detective Boys when they passed by Sato and Yumi searching around the area for something. "Hey, it's Sato-keiji and Yumi-san who drives the mini patrol car. What are you doing here? Is it a case?" The kids asked.

"Nothing like that," Sato claimed. "Unless you count the case of Yumi throwing away her valuable object,"

"Eh? Are you stupid or something? You aren't supposed to throw away valuable objects, you know!" Genta insulted.

"It was an accident!" Yumi defended.

"You wrapped it in a plastic bag and threw it in the trash accidentally?" Haibara pointed out.

"No, I'd been using it as a bookmark for a fashion magazine and I threw the magazines away without taking it out!" Yumi responded.

Haru and Conan noticed the sign. "Today isn't recyclable waste day so if there were a bunch of magazines here, the building manager would've taken it back to the apartment with him, right? Once he found out that they belonged to Yumi-san, he'd have to put them back in front of your door,"

Once they reached Yumi's apartment, they found a pile of magazines and Yumi started to shift through them. "It isn't here! It's gone! I can't find it anywhere!"

"What are you looking for anyway?" Mitsuhiko inquired.

"One hundred million yen!" Yumi snapped.

"Actually, it was an important envelope which she had been using as a bookmark," Sato corrected.

"So an envelope containing a marriage proposal?" Haibara said flatly.

"That seems like the cliché thing Kichi-nii would do," Haru nodded. "I had twenty other ways to propose, but he decided to do the marriage registration form method,"

"Haru-niichan, why would you have twenty other ways to propose?" Ayumi asked. "Ah, were you planning on proposing to—"

'Don't remind him!' Conan quickly covered Ayumi's mouth before she could mention Jonah's name. "Anyway, was there anything written on the envelope?"

"It was closed off with a seal on the back," Yumi recalled. "And on the front, it had his name, Haneda Shukichi,"

"What if some nasty woman wrote her own name on the marriage form and took him to court saying they were married!?" Mitsuhiko exclaimed.

"Then we'd sue that woman back," Haru answered. "We'd get the best lawyers for Kichi-nii,"

"Aren't lawyers expensive though?" Mitsuhiko questioned.

"Oh, money's not a problem," Haru assured him. "But why don't we go and see if the manager has the letter? He might've thought it was important since it had the Taiko Meijin's name on it,"

Yumi rang the doorbell. "It's Miyamoto from Room 308! I've come to talk about the trash problem,"

Hachitsuka Koroku opened the door. "Ah, so you have finally come, Chacha,"

"Eh? Chacha?" The kids were confused by the nickname.

"I've told you before to stop calling me that!" Yumi frowned. "It's only annoying me!"

"Why does he call you that?" Sato asked.

"No idea!" Yumi shrugged. "Yesterday, Chukichi came to meet me and this old man saw the two of us talking outside,"

"He's calling you a concubine," Haru revealed. "Chacha is a reference to Toyotomi Hideyoshi's second wife and concubine,"

"Concubine!?"

"What's a concubine?" The three real kids were clueless about the word.

"Uh…don't worry about it!" Haru hastily told them.

"Oh, if it isn't Hidenaga," Hachitsuka greeted. "I have seen you on the news from time to time," He glared at Yumi. "You're the evil woman who has been distracting Taiko Meijin, am I wrong?"

"Ojisan, do you like playing shogi?" Conan asked.

"Yes! I consider myself equal to some of the professionals at least! I was very proud of my ability back then," Hachitsuka recalled. "About ten years ago, I heard that a junior professional shogi player had arrived at a mall, so I went there to play a match against him! As it turns out, it was the Taiko Meijin himself. Hidenaga had accompanied him and was watching from the side. I was completely outmatched by Taiko Meijin and admired the many strategies he used. I became a huge fan of his and I would follow his matches religiously and celebrate whenever he won a match…until I was arrested by Chacha here!"

"As much as I'd like to stay," Haru started walking away. "I have some errands to take care of. I'll be back in a bit," 'Miyamoto Yumi, when we asked what you had lost you immediately yelled out a hundred million yen. Is that all you think of Shukichi? Do you only want to accept the proposal for the money? Prove your love to him. Find the form. I already know the outcome, but I refuse to just hand it to you without proof of your determination,'

Haru returned when the code had final been solved. He had seen the news that his brother had lost the Osho crown. When he reentered the room, Yumi had just received a phone call from her boyfriend. "Chukichi, what are you doing!? You're not allowed to use mobile phones during your game!"

"It doesn't matter anymore. The game is already over. Yumi-tan…do you remember that envelope that I gave you? Please throw it away. It is of no use anymore,"

"Eh!? What are you talking about!?" Yumi exclaimed.

"Kichi-nii lost his title match," Haru informed sadly. 'It is quite sad that Shukichi actually lost. I wish he had won but then again, could the two of them actually get married right now? Mom wouldn't be able to attend the wedding in her current form and Pierrot-nii faked his death. It'd look weird if Chewy were to attend instead since he isn't that close to Kichi-nii,'

"'Always carry out your original intentions.' That's what my cousin, Haneda Kohji, and the shogi player I respect most, would say. It was his favorite motto,"

"Haneda Kohji?"

"Forgive me, Yumi-tan. Once a man has made a decision, he must never back away from it. So please discard the envelope,"

"Hmm…if you say so," Yumi tore it into pieces.

"EH!?"

"Right, let me tell you something. I've got no idea what was in this envelope, alright? In the future, if you want to tell me something, tell it to me straight, got it? I'll be waiting for you to collect your seven or eight or whatever it is. And once you've done that, you come back to me and I, Miyamoto Yumi-sama, will listen to whatever you have to say. So…you'd better make sure you never lose again you bald-headed mouse!"

"I won't!"

"So," Haru turned to Hachitsuka. "Did she prove that she was Nene and not Chacha?"

"She had help from the children, but I am sure she is Nene," The old man responded.

"It's a bit sad that Kichi-nii lost his title, but I'm sure he'll regain it in no time," Haru smirked. "After all, he is the Taiko Meijin and the successor to Kohji,"

"Haru-niichan, what errands did you have to do?" Ayumi asked as they left the apartment building.

"Uh…well…it's not important," Haru chuckled nervously. 'I literally just ran around the building until the news of the end of the title match came out,'

"Wait a minute!" Yumi realized. "That match for the Osho title is only held once a year, right!?"

"Yeah," Sato nodded. "So even if you do fill out a new form now, you'll have to wait a year for it to be valid,"

"I guess I should call all the caterers, performers, and the venue to inform them that the wedding is canceled," Haru chuckled. "Or at least postponed for a year,"

"I wonder how long it'll take for you to get married," Sato teased Yumi.

"Damn it!" Yumi took out her phone. "I don't care how many titles he has, I'm asking him to sign a marriage registration form right now!"

"Wait a second," Haru stopped her. "He can't marry you yet because he hasn't even bothered introducing you to the rest of the family!" 'I understand why he couldn't have introduced her to Mom or Pierrot, but why didn't he introduce Yumi-san to me or Masumi!?'

"Yumi don't call him!" Sato said. "It'll ruin the cool image you had!"

"Hey," Haibara asked Conan quietly, a few feet away from the rest of the group. "Have you heard of Haneda Kohji?"

"He was a really famous shogi player whom fans thought would achieve the title of the Seven Crown King," Conan replied just as quiet. "He went to America to participate in a chess tournament but was involved in some sort of accident and died there. He's also Haru's cousin. Haru said that a member of the organization was the one who murdered Haneda Kohji,"

"His name was on the list of people who were given APTX 4869," Haibara informed. "His name was two rows below yours,"

"What?" Conan stared at her with wide eyes. "APTX 4869?"

"The drug intended to kill without a trace," Haibara nodded. "The same drug that shrunk us,"

The next morning, Conan came over to the professor's house to research about Kohji's death. "Seventeen years ago, Haneda Kohji who held four shogi titles, went to America to participate in a chess competition which he played occasionally. But on the day before the match, he was murdered by an unknown assailant in his hotel room. The room was found to be in a total mess caused by a struggle between Haneda-san and his killer, but the cause of death was unclear. On the same day, in a different room of the same hotel, another murder took place. The victim was Amanda Hughes, an investor hailing form America. The cause of her death was also unclear,"

"Amanda Hughes had been a huge fan of Haneda-san and had been in touch with him before. On that day, Hughes-san's bodyguard had also disappeared and has never been found. The bodyguard was called 'Asaka' by Amanda, and is still the primes suspect in both murder cases. But he has yet to be found. The true identity of Asaka is also a mystery and Hughes' relatives and acquaintances are not sure how Asaka was hired in the first place,"

"The one who murdered them was Rum," Haru revealed. "He targeted the two of them because Hughes had contacts in both the FBI and the CIA," 'If Hughes had stayed away from Kohji, then he might've still been alive!' "I have a feeling that Asaka is Rum, but I'm not entirely sure," 'Why else would they disappear?'

"Hmm?" Conan scrolled through the articles and stopped at a photo. "There seems to be pieces of broken glass from what I think is a mirror. There's some writing on it,"

"It's probably Put on Mascara," Haibara informed. "There's a famous cosmetics company which gives out small mirrors with those words printed on them along with their products. My sister had one of those which originally belonged to my mother. But what confuses me is the state of disarray that the room was left in. If it were really the work of the organization, it is unlikely that they'd leave the room like that. Their style would've been to clean up the entire place and make it look like nothing had happened,"

"That's because Rum screwed up," Haru mumbled.

"Haru, how do you know it's specifically Rum?" Conan inquired. "It could've been any other operative,"

"The letters cut out of the mirror could be rearranged to form two things," Haru pointed out. "It could form ASACA RUM or CARASUMA. The head of the organization is Karasuma Renya,"

"Karasuma Renya!?"

"The same man who previously owned the Sunset Manor and killed the detectives he summoned to solve his code," Haru explained. "The same man who supposedly died forty years ago. But remember, age doesn't matter especially since Vermouth herself doesn't age. It's a possibility that Karasuma doesn't age either,"

"How long have you known!?" Conan demanded. "If you already knew who the boss was all this time, why didn't you say anything!? We could've find his location or his bases and launch a—"

"Sometimes you're too cocky," Haru told him. "Remember Haido City Hotel? Haibara almost died because you thought you were all tough and could prevent the assassination! I don't want you to just rush in like that! I don't want you or Shiho or anyone to die! For ****'s sake, your arrogance was what got you poisoned in the first place! You stupidly ran after Vodka and lowered your guard! You didn't even bother checking the surrounding area for Gin!"

The room was silent for a moment. "Oh, I need to head over to a crime scene," Professor Agasa recalled, trying to break the tension. "There was a murder this morning and the victim was found gripping a pair of scissors that I had invented. Inspector Megure asked me to come down to the scene of the crime and explain the function of the scissors,"

Haru left the room just as Subaru was about to enter. "Are you alright?" Subaru asked.

"I'm fine," Haru mumbled. "I just need some space,"

'He has no right to get mad at me!' Haru paced around his room a bit before deciding to attack his punching bag. 'He's been keeping his identity a secret from Ran and Kogoro-ojisan for their safety! Well that sure did great! Ojisan almost got killed in Black Impact!'

"Haru-kun?" Camel knocked on the teenager's door. "Are you alright? Akai-san wanted me to check up on you,"

"I'm fine," Haru told him. "I'm fine,"

'If he reacted like that just for withholding the fact that I already knew the boss' identity, how would he react to me knowing the entire canon timeline? How would Ran and Sonoko react? How would Masumi and Mom react?' Tears started to well up. 'It was bad enough when Shukichi got angry with me…I don't want to lose my family and friends. I don't want them to hate me,'

"Just keep up the act," Haru whispered to himself. "Don't reveal it to them. I've been doing it for nineteen years. I can continue keeping it a secret from them, even after the organization's downfall,"

Do you think Haru keeping it a secret is unhealthy?
