The Finals Begin
I don't own Digimon or Yu-Gi-Oh
"Alright, Battle City Finals here we come!" Joey cheered, walking between his older sisters who shared a smile as the young boy rubbed his ears gingerly, still recovering from their double pinch attack as he called it.
"But we don't know where the location for the finals is, unless of course you guys brought a map with you." Duke pointed out.
"No need to worry about that, we've got the map right here." Daisuke answered, holding out her six Locator Cards. "All I have to do is put these in my duel disk, like so." She said, activating her duel disk and placing the cards on it. "And voila."
Everyone gasped as the duel disk beeped and a beam of light shot from the base of it onto the ground in front of them. "It's projecting something." Tea said, the light soon took form, turning into a detailed map of Battle City.
"Congratulations on reaching the Battle City Finals, please stand by for coordinates to KaibaCorp Stadium." A computerised voice said from the duel disk.
"Man is there any building Kaiba doesn't own here?" Veemon asked, sharing a look with the other three Digimon who all shrugged.
"Got it." Daisuke said, pointing to the map where a beam of light was shining from a large red building. "That is where we need to go."
"No time to waste, let's get moving." Mai said, everyone nodded and set off for the stadium. At the same time, at the stadium, Kaiba, Mokuba and White Veemon were in another helicopter as it flew towards the arena and began descending.
"We've arrived Mr Kaiba." The pilot informed the passengers.
"Good." Kaiba replied, climbing out of the vehicle followed by his brother and Digimon partner. "My competition should be arriving here shortly, along with the remaining two Egyptian God Cards." he thought.
Unknown to him, he was being watched from the shadows by Marik and Odion. "Look at that fool standing there. Soon he will be a pawn in his own pathetic game."
"That's right Marik." Odion said.
"Listen closely." Marik told him. "The time has come to put the final part of my plan into motion and I will need your help." Odion nodded listening obediently to the man. "The Battle City Finals are about to begin, and everything that I need to gain infinite power will be in one place, I need now only to win."
"For countless millennia, the world has waited for the Ancient Pharaoh to return. As the ancient scriptures state, he will use his power to save the world from ancient evil like he did so before. Using the power of the Egyptian God Cards his spirit shall emerge from the chambers of the Millennium Puzzle to rule mankind once again. Now I shall fulfill that prophecy, by draining the Pharaoh's power from the Millennium Puzzle when I claim it, but I also need the three Egyptian God Cards, once I accomplish this task, I will be Pharaoh and the former ruler will wander the Shadow Realm for eternity."
"But I need your help Odion, I must hide my identity. Everyone shall think you are me; those fools already believe I am a friend named Namu, I'll gain their trust and crush them with the Winged Dragon of Ra." He finished, laughing for a moment which was heard by Kaiba and Mokuba.
"Turn on the lights." Kaiba ordered the two men standing next to them.
"Um lights?" one asked.
"Illuminate the building, now!" he ordered again.
"Right away sir." The man replied holding up a radio. "Turn on the lights!" he said and the lights in the stadium began turning on.
"What is it Seto?" White Veemon asked.
"I thought I heard something, no one should be in this arena without first reporting to me." Kaiba answered, looking around several times.
"Don't worry Mr Kaiba, we'll find any and all trespassers."
"Hey, here comes someone now." Mokuba called out, pointing to one of the entrances into the arena where he saw Daisuke, Yugi, Mai and the others walking over. "It's Daisuke, Yugi and Mai."
"This is it?" Yugi whispered.
"Most of this place is still being built." Duke said.
"Brilliant observation, we're fashionably early." Mai said as she, Yugi and Daisuke stood in front of the two suit wearing men.
"Welcome, please present your Locator Cards." one of them instructed.
"Check it out, we've got six each." Daisuke chirped, showing off her Locator Cards as did Yugi and Mai.
"Then here are your tournament ID cards, congratulations. You three are now officially Battle City Finalists." The other man said, taking three cards out of his pocket and handing them to the trio.
"We already knew that." Mai said.
"Now security is tight so please keep these with you at all times."
"Simple enough. Now where's the others?" Daisuke asked, taking one card and pocketing it.
"We expect the other four finalists shortly." The man answered.
"Here comes someone now." Willis said, looking to the entrance way he and the others had just walked through.
"I got a bad feeling about this you guys." Kari said, shivering slightly as Daisuke felt her birthmark heat up for a moment and she let out a soft hiss under her breath. Everyone kept quiet as they waited for the person to step into the light and sure enough, they did.
"This is the end for you Pharaoh." Marik thought as he smirked looking at the group who all looked at him for several moments.
"Hey, I recognise that guy." Joey said as he and Tea ran over to him while Daisuke followed at a slower pace. "You're Namu, ain't ya?" he asked.
"You saved Bakura's life." Tea said with a smile.
"Glad I could help. Where's Bakura now?" he asked her with a gentle smile.
"In the hospital resting." Tea answered.
"Excellent, I'll do anything to help someone in need." He replied while Daisuke looked at him, narrowing her eyes.
"I don't know why, maybe it's just because my mind is still reeling from having Marik controlling it, but I am not too sure about this guy." She thought. "With all the Rare Hunters running around, I don't know who to trust."
"So, Daisuke, it seems we both made it to the Battle City Finals, I never thought I would get this far but ever since I met you, I've been winning every duel." Marik said with a smile. "So, you'd better beware!" he thought, Tea's eyes glazing over and she softly gasped as she felt Marik's hold over her mind return for a moment.
"Yugi, meet our friend, Namu." She then said to Yugi as he walked over to them. "He's the one who saved Bakura's life and get this, he's also a Battle City Finalist."
"I've heard a lot about you Yugi, it's an honour to meet you." Marik said, shaking Yugi's hand with a false smile.
"Any friend of Daisuke and Tea is a friend of mine." Yugi said.
"What the heck are you doing here!?" Joey exclaimed and everyone turned to see the boy running over to a new arrival who they all recognised.
"Bakura!" Daisuke gasped, running over to the white-haired boy who was stumbling forwards, his hair covering his eyes. "What're you doing out of the hospital, papa told us you were in really bad shape."
"And what're you doing with a duel disk?" Joey asked, pointing to the device on Bakura's arm and the boy smiled.
"How else could I win six locator cards?" he asked, holding up the six cards which shocked Daisuke and the others.
"Perfect, the fool is doing exactly as I planned. He is dueling for me." Marik thought with a small smirk.
"I don't understand, you could barely walk. How were you able to duel and become a finalist?" Yugi questioned Bakura who did not answer as he saw Odion walking into the arena.
"Look, here comes the seventh finalist." He said, everyone turning to see Odion coming closer.
"That guy looks familiar," Joey whispered. He held onto Serenity's hand and stood behind Daisuke who narrowed her eyes at the hooded man.
"That's the guy who kidnapped me." Mokuba said to Seto who glared at the man.
"State your name right now." He ordered as Odion came to a stop.
"I am Marik." He answered, moving his cloak slightly to show the Millennium Rod making Daisuke, Joey and Tea all tense and back up slightly.
"I should kick your brainwashing keister for what you did to us ya creep!" Joey shouted pointing at Odion.
"You are no match for me fool." The man growled as he glared down at Joey.
"No, but I am." Daisuke replied, stepping forward. "I hope I'm dueling you in the finals, because that means I'll get to make you pay for daring to threaten my family. You got that?" Odion simply ignored her and walked off.
"May I have your attention please; seven out of the eight finalists have arrived so we shall proceed as scheduled. While you all have made it here, this is not where the finals shall be taking place." One of Kaiba's men informed the group.
"The actual location of the finals should be arriving shortly." The other man said, everyone shared a look before hearing a loud noise and saw in the air above them a giant blimp.
"Kaiba's blimp!" Tristan exclaimed over the sound of the engines from the aircraft.
"Kaiba-Craft 03, you are clear for landing."
The blimp began to descend, and everyone stepped away allowing the blimp to land. "So, we're dueling in the sky?" Yugi asked, looking at the Kaiba brothers.
"You got it. Four thousand feet in the sky to be exact." Mokuba chirped with a bright grin.
"Um, do you have barf bags onboard?" Veemon asked.
"I'm sure they do buddy." Daisuke reassured him. Everyone began to walk up the stairs onto the blimp while Daisuke stood beside Kaiba and Mokuba. "You really don't do things halfway when showboating do ya?" She asked Seto with a smile.
"Have you known me to not do that?" he answered with a smug smirk, glancing over at Willis, Kari, Serenity, Joey, Tea, Tristan and Duke he let out a small sigh. "And I presume you want me to allow your friends and siblings onboard?"
"If you'd be so kind. I mean Kari's learning to be a photographer, so chances are she could give you some nice publicity with the photos she takes of the finals. Plus, my sister really wants to see me duel in person." Daisuke said with a cute smile before clapping her hands together and bowing. "I'd owe ya big time Seto."
Seto flushed lightly before turning away with a huff. "Fine, but they'd better not cause trouble otherwise I'm throwing them off myself." He warned her and she grinned.
"Don't worry they'll be on their best behaviour." She promised before following him and Mokuba onto the blimp after her friends and siblings along with the Digimon picking up the rear.
"Well now what do we do?" one of Kaiba's men asked the other one. "We're still short one finalist."
"We'll wait five more minutes, if they don't show up, we'll leave without them and they shall be declared absent and forfeit their place in the finals." The other man answered. Both then turned upon hearing footsteps and saw another person arriving.
"I believe you gentlemen are waiting for me." The person who was a woman wearing Egyptian style clothing with a veil over her mouth. "My Locator Cards." She said holding up the six cards she needed.
"You qualify, welcome aboard." The man said, handing her the last ID card and she walked onto the blimp with the two men and the blimp began take off procedures.
"It has begun, the final confrontation has begun, and the fate of the world hangs in the balance." The woman thought, she stopped for a moment when the blimp shuddered before slowly lifting into the skies and it then flew off cruising at the height Mokuba told the others it would.
"Whoa check it out!" Joey said as he stood in front of the windows on the blimp, looking down at the city below with wide awe filled eyes as his sisters and Veemon who stood either side of him. "I've never seen the city from so high up before."
"The lights are so pretty from up here." Serenity said, looking over at Daisuke she smiled happily. "Thanks for convincing Kaiba to let us come on board Dai."
"Just one of the many perks of being related to a champion I suppose." Daisuke replied with a bright smile.
"That and the future Mrs Seto Kaiba." Joey whispered to Veemon, both beginning to giggle into their hands before yelping when Daisuke whacked them both on their heads knocking them down with large bumps forming as Serenity giggled.
"Serenity, Dai's being mean." Joey whined as their friends watching the family interact sweatdropped as Kaiba walked past them heading towards Yugi.
"Yugi, I have some advice for you that you should listen to." He said, glaring down at the shorter boy unaware Yami was appearing beside him looking at him also. "I know you've not played Slifer the Sky Dragon since you won the card from that Rare Hunter. But during the finals you had better have the card in your deck because I plan to defeat you and win it." He then walked off away from the group with Yugi watching him go.
"Man, this blimp is filled with hot air." Joey grumbled.
"But he does have a point." Daisuke said as she walked over to Yugi. "If we're going to be dueling against Marik in these finals it's a good idea to use Slifer the Sky Dragon, who knows what kind of tricks he has up his sleeve, not to mention the third Egyptian God Card."
"You may be right." Yugi said softly, placing a hand on his dueling deck box on his belt before the PA system in the blimp turned on.
"Attention all finalists, please proceed to your assigned rooms which you'll access with your ID cards." a voice said.
"Come on you guys." Daisuke said to her siblings and Veemon who walked off following her. "See you guys later."
A few minutes later the four arrived at Daisuke's room and she slotted her ID card into the scanner on the side and the door opened with a hiss. "Whoa!" Veemon gasped as Joey and Serenity ran into the large room that had a bed, some comfy armchairs, a table along with a fridge and counter.
"Check out our deluxe pad." Serenity said running to one of the windows and looking through it down at the city below. "If it hadn't been for you Dai, I wouldn't be able to see this right now."
"But you can see, and that's what matters sis." Daisuke said softly.
"There is no place I would rather be, it's kind of like a dream looking down at the buildings from up here. I'll never forget this sight, never." Serenity whispered, looking back at the city below through the window.
"Thanks sis." Daisuke said softly, turning her sister around to pull her into a hug.
"I'm the one who should be thanking you for all this." Serenity replied, returning the hug. "You're the best big sister ever."
"My allergies are acting up." Daisuke sniffled, her eyes tearing up and she pulled back from the hug and wiped her eyes clear. "But I could not have done this without your help, you and Joey gave me the support I needed to get this far. We make a good team, don't we?"
"Yes, we do, the best team ever." Serenity said with tears in her eyes.
"Amen to that sister." Joey chirped, hugging her legs and earning a giggle from her as Daisuke clenched her fist.
"I'm going to win this tournament with your support you guys, and I won't let anyone stop me from doing just that." She thought.
However, the moment was ruined when the room door slid open as Tea, Tristan and Duke walked in. "Nah, I think Yugi's room is bigger." Tea said looking around the room.
"What's the matter with you, haven't ya heard of a doorbell!?" Joey shouted at the trio.
"We need a place to crash while they try and find some rooms for us." Tristan said with a grin. "So, let's see what we have in the fridge." He said walking over to it and opening it. "Whoa you have no idea how hard it is to find this kind of cheese."
"Let's chow down." Duke said, rushing over as Tea held up a clipboard with a smile.
"Room service on Dai!" she added with a laugh.
"Come on guys, get out of here!" Daisuke shouted but her voice was drowned out by the three celebrating.
"Come on Dai, be a good sport they're hungry." Serenity told her softly.
"But how am I supposed to focus with these guys here?" Daisuke replied with a pout, she was then pushed out of the way by Duke who stood in front of Serenity.
"Hey Serenity, do you want to check out the view with me?" he asked, grabbing her hand, and leading her over to the windows. "Oh, look we're flying right over my game shop."
"Oh, that's so cool." Serenity said with a smile while Tristan was off to the side shedding tears at not being the one to be close to Serenity.
Daisuke sighed and slid down into one of the chairs. "So much for trying to focus for the finals." She thought as she caught a soda tossed to her by Veemon as the Digimon sat in her lap.
"Yeah, why couldn't you guys bother Yugi?" Joey asked.
"Oh well he has to focus for the finals, so we decided to leave him alone." Tristan answered, drinking his own soda.
"Dai's in the finals too ya know." Veemon told him.
"Oh yeah that's right." Tristan said with a grin and Daisuke grumbled before seeing Duke getting a little too close to Serenity and growled lowly glaring daggers at the game shop owner who felt a shiver crawl up his spine.
Meanwhile in Marik's cabin, the man stood up from his bed with a smirk. "My plan is going perfectly; I've manipulated so many people that I can't possibly lose." He thought. "Yugi believes me to be a friend of his, little does he know I still hold control over the mind of his friend." He thought, thinking of Tea whose eyes glazed over for a moment while she was watching Joey and Tristan argue about something.
"And in time I will seize that control. Then there is Bakura, rather than wasting my energy controlling his mind, I have fooled the spirit of the Millennium Ring into doing my bidding for me. So before long the three Egyptian God Cards and the Pharaoh's Millennium Puzzle will be mine, victory is assured with Odion and Bakura dueling for me and Yugi believing I'm his kind-hearted friend Namu I can't lose!" he thought.
He then caught sight of the fusion monster which had cast him out of Daisuke's mind in the window as he looked into it before his entire body spasmed and he let out a grunt of pain and fell to one knee, his right hand twitching as the Millennium Rod fell to the floor landing with a clatter as the feeling of his entire body on fire came back for a moment. "You will not harm my master again." The voice of the duel monster echoed in his mind.
"Be silent!" he snapped at the voice before he grabbed the Millennium Rod. "You do not scare me; you are a figment of my mind!" he glared at the figure in the window before it vanished.
Meanwhile Yugi was in his own room looking at the Slifer the Sky Dragon card in his hand. "Daisuke's right, if we're going to have a chance of winning the Battle City Finals, we will need to use this card." He said to Yami as the spirit appeared in front of him.
"You're right, using Slifer the Sky Dragon is our only option, but it is a powerful monster, and we must be careful. It will help us against the Egyptian God Card in Marik's deck and will also help us against Kaiba's own Egyptian God Card, Obelisk the Tormentor." He said before both heard the PA system come on again.
"Attention finalists, please proceed to the main hall at once." A voice said over the speakers in all the rooms.
"Time to go." Yugi said and Yami nodded, the Millennium Puzzle glowing and Yami took control and he walked out of the room, looking around he spotted Daisuke and the others were heading his way.
"Alright let's do this." Daisuke said to him with a confident grin and he nodded, both heading off together with their friends and family following them.
