Chapter 70

Alessa grinned as she opened the door. "Tess is already here. She told me about your predicament."

"I'll say. I'm ravenous, could sleep through a nine-point-five earthquake, and my boobs are sore."

Tess chuckled. "Yup, you may be knocked up."

"I was spotting my last period, but I'm late this time."

"The egg could have been implanting," Alessa said. That can cause spotting and fool someone into thinking they are having their period. "Did you have a full period?"

"No, but that happens when I'm stressed and with all the decisions to make and the moving, I thought that was it. This isn't anything like with the boys. Besides, I had nausea with them, but not so early."

Tess handed her the test. "Well, time will tell. Good luck."

"Thanks! Did I mention my stomach is pooching? I had to go buy some bigger jeans. That's fast for me if it's true."

They watched her go into the bathroom and then did a happy dance.

"I can't wait," Alessa said. "I hate she's moving away. I won't be able to stalk that baby who you know is just going to be gorgeous."

"There's always visitation."

"When are you taking the plunge?"

Tess sat on a chair. "We're going to start trying in August."

"That will be good.

"I'm nervous, but I know Max will be an involved father."

"You'll be fine. You're good with Alana."

"She is the one who started messing with my clock in the first place."

Liz moved into the room. "Alright, we've got two minutes."

"Have you been sick at all?"

"I've been feeling run down for the most part, but I have been nauseous several times. Maybe I got pregnant after the last test a few months ago."

"That's possible," Tess said.

"Jason isn't going to let you out of his sight," Alessa said.

Liz groaned. "He already thinks something is up. I need to unpack and do things. I can't be sleeping all the time."

"Your body may not be up to it right now."

"I could come with you the first week and help out," Tess said.

"Me too. Drew is going to need help getting sorted as well," Alessa said.

"He's not coming until Danny is out of school." They had just made the decision.

"Then he can keep an eye on Aidan and Jake if he needs him."

Liz sighed. "Honestly, I'm more worried about Jake. He's doing well, but I don't want us leaving him for a month and a half to trigger him."

"He's doing well. Maybe he needs to know that he'll be fine on his own," Alessa said.

"True."

"Two minutes," Tess said.

Liz rubbed her hands on her pants and then took a deep breath. After a few months of disappointment, she hopes she's right and all their practice has made perfect.

As she gazed at the test, tears pricked her eyes and she turned and ran into the room.

They aren't sure if she's happy or upset.

"Liz, tell us," Tess said as she stood.

"I'm pregnant."

Delighted squeals filled the room and the women huddled together as Liz cried her eyes out.

"You're shaking. Sit," Alessa said directing her to a chair.

"I want to go tell Jason, but I don't think I can drive."

Tess pulled out her phone. "Jason?"

"What's wrong?"

Tess smiled. "Everything is fine. I'll pick you up. I'll be there soon."

"Where is she?"

"She's at Alessa's."

Jason is pacing making the boys nervous. "I want to talk to her."

"You will when you get here."

"I'll come now."

"You need to drive her home."

"Then I'll bring Cam or Jake. They can drive her car back. We'll be right there."

"Fine." She hung up. "He doesn't want to wait for me. He's on his way."

"I expected no less. He's probably going crazy," Liz said.

Alessa bent down and slipped off Liz's shoes. "Assume the position," she said pointing to the pillow on the couch.

"And so it begins," Liz mutters. Her independent life is over.

Tess snickered at her expression.

"You wait until you're knocked in a house full of Giambettis. You will hire someone to kidnap you."

"You're probably right. I'll just stay with you."

Jason practically broke every speed limit. The boys were quiet because they feared for their life. Aidan had come home, so he was yanked into the car right before they took off.

Finally, he broke the silence. "Where are we going?"

"Mom is at Alessa's and for some reason, she can't drive home. Dad is worried," Jake explained.

"Oh." His head swung around to find Cam gripping the seat. "Was she okay before she left?"

"No. She got dizzy."

Aidan almost growled. "And you let her go out?"

Jason sighed. "I fed her and then she said she was going on an errand with Tess. She didn't ask my permission to leave."

He crossed his arms across his chest. That was just unacceptable.

Jake would have laughed at his brother's indignation, but he is concerned about his mother too.

Jason tore into the driveway and squealed to a stop.

"Thank God," Cam said.

"Amen," Jake muttered as the boys quickly escaped.

Liz frown at the sound of the tires. "Was that Jason?"

Tess peeked out the window. "Damn, he looks intense and the boys look pale."

Liz grinned. "I bet he drove very fast." They were never in any danger. Jason is a great driver.

He didn't even bother to knock and when he saw her on the couch, a small whimper left his mouth shocking the women.

"Jason, I'm fine."

Her voice snapped him out of his panic, and he rushed toward her and ended up kneeling next to her. "Why are you lying down?"

The boys moved into the house and Alessa put her finger to her mouth to quiet them and pointed to her ears.

"Alessa insisted on it because she must have gone to your school of overreacting."

"Don't get saucy with me. You were shaking," Alessa said.

Jason swallowed hard. "I'm taking you to the hospital."

He started to lift her.

"Jason, stop!" Liz said.

He reluctantly let her go.

"I'm fine. I just—I took a test. I was thinking about my symptoms and we're pregnant."

He fell onto his butt, staring at her as the boys chuckled.

"Congratulations, mom," Jake said.

The boys ran to her and waited for her to sit up before hugging her.

"How do you feel?"

"I'm okay but not I'm worried that your father is catatonic."

Everyone stared at him.

After swallowing hard, he came back to life. "Are you sure?"

A tear ran down her face. "It was positive and while it seems like everything is happening faster, I have symptoms too. Just in case, I'll make an appointment with the doctor."

Alessa ended a call. "Already done. She can fit you in if we leave now."

Jason got to his feet and lifted her while Jake grabbed her shoes. "I love you. I'm so happy."

She smiled. "Me too."

The family went to the car and after Elizabeth was settled, they headed to the hospital.

An hour later, they left with several pamphlets and a prescription. The doctor thinks she's already moving into her third month which could put a damper on her packing activities.

"What did they say?" Cam asked.

"Well, I'm definitely pregnant," Liz said.

"She is experiencing a lot of symptoms faster this time around, so she'll be tired and probably have morning sickness," Jason said.

Liz sighed. "We need to finish packing up the house in the next few weeks. I can have an ultrasound in about two or three weeks."

"We have time."

They are standing next to the cars.

"Mom should stay with you in Tuscany. You'll just worry. Aidan and I will be fine. Uncle Drew will still be here."

"Jake…"

"I'm fine. Maybe I need to prove that to myself. Can you let me do this?"

She touched his face. "I'm so used to being by your side. I know you're a man now and you're doing so well, but in my heart, you're my little boy."

She started to cry, mumbling about hormones, so Jake held her close.

"I'm sorry."

"You don't have to apologize for loving me, mom. I get it."

She wiped at her face. "Okay. I'll go with your father." They are right. There is no way Jason won't have a mental breakdown if she's out of his sight for long.

"You're not lifting a finger though," Jason said opening the door.

"Jason," she groaned.

"Give it up, mom, you're packing days are over," Aidan said.

"We can handle it," Cam said.

Jason had already texted for help. "Larissa is coming. She is free and said she can help out."

Liz shook her head. "You already called her? When?"

He smiled. "I did it when you were getting undressed."

"Men…"

He shut the door and pressed some money into Jake's hand. "Go buy something to eat for dinner." He held up his hand and tapped on the window, so Liz opened the door.

"What are you craving?"

"A greasy burger will do."

Cam smiled. "We know just the place."

"I want a vanilla milkshake and fries too please."

"Got it," Aidan said as the boys climbed inside.

Jason got in and smiled. "Thank you."

She gripped her hand, thankful for their new adventure.

The party for the boys was bittersweet. Liz cried several times because she is so proud of them. They are maturing so much and can't wait to be involved in the business. She is so blessed that their family is so close. Larissa was a godsend. Alessa and Tess are coming along on the flight and will stay for the long weekend and help get things unpacked. Monica is moving around the time the boys do and told Liz she'll help her set up a nursery.

She is nervous, but it's not a bad thing. There's just a lot to do and she has been incredibly tired. With nausea came morning sickness worse than she has ever had. It would wipe her out for several hours. Of course, Jason is worried and insisted on leaving a little later. Francis will stay behind with the boys and oversee the next round of travel.

On their way to the airport, the group stopped at the hospital so Liz could get her ultrasound. Thanks to Vincenzo's wife, she already has a doctor who is close to their new home.

When the heartbeat sounded, Jason smiled. "It's so fast."

"That's normal," Liz said. Her eyes narrowed because she swears there is more than one.

The doctor smirked. She is thinking the same thing and it would explain why her patient is larger than normal. "You ready?"

She nodded.

The wand is pressed as it moves across her stomach.

Jason is watching with amazement. It's hard for him to make sense of it all but he's trying.

"Right here is baby number one. That is baby number two."

Liz gasps as Jason's jaw dropped.

"Congratulations. This certainly changes the game plan." Liz had already given her the information for the private hospital where she will give birth. It's smaller and will provide more privacy than a public hospital and Jason wanted the extra attention for his wife.

"I'll say."

"Did you suspect it?"

"No."

The woman smiled. "Well, this will mean increased calories and you'll have to work extra hard to stay hydrated. I will give you some information to read. It always means more doctor appointments."

"Is she in any danger?" Jason said finding his voice. She had issues in the past.

"Right now, her blood pressure is good but having twins can take a toll. She'll be monitored carefully to assure she is in good health. For now, just work on your diet, walking is okay but if the weather is hot, you'll need to drink more and make sure you don't get overheated."

"What about swimming?" Liz asked.

"That is perfectly fine and a great exercise throughout your pregnancy."

They have some reading to do.

"Can you tell him he doesn't have to carry me around?"

Jason rolled his eyes making the doctor chuckle.

"It's better to let her walk. Just walk beside her if she is having balance issues when she gets bigger."

Liz swore her man pouted.

"Any other questions?"

"I have a million, but I'll try reading. What do you recommend?" Jason asked. They will pass a bookstore on the way to the airport.

She jotted down a few books and handed him a list. "That should be good."

"Thank you so much," Liz said.

"I'm very happy for you Please send me a picture when you have them."

"I will."

They are left alone so Liz can get dressed.

"This is a lot considering everything else going on," Liz said as she slipped off the table under his watchful eye.

"We'll be fine. We'll hire someone to set up the store. If you're up to it, you can go in to supervise, but you'll probably need to hire someone capable of running things."

"Isabella has someone in mind. She can do the wine tasting. I'll bake here and there, and Aidan can over the summer while he is here. He likes the practice." He'll be going to his father's at some point.

"That will work."

They left and headed to their new adventure.

Alessa and Tess were such a big help. Liz assisted with some things, but to avoid an argument with Jason, she let them do the heavy lifting. They managed some shopping time to get Liz a wide range of maternity clothes, and bought some baby things, but Liz wanted to wait for Monica for the furniture.

Jason is bone-tired. There's a lot to learn and do and Liz is always on his mind. He found her in the nursery which is next to their room.

"Hey." He had just showered.

She smiled. "I was just thinking about how I wanted to decorate it."

"Are you going to paint?"

She nodded. "I located some pregnancy-safe paint and ordered it."

"What are you going to draw?"

"I want to wait until after we find out what we're having, but I may be able to make it unisex. I just have visions of princesses and fairies for a girl, but then I also saw some pictures of a tree with a swing and Winnie the Pooh on it and thought I could be several characters on the limb and a few on the swing and Bambie to the right."

He chuckled. "That sounds complex but cute."

"It shouldn't be too bad. I'll be careful not to overdo it. Who knows, I change my mind like the wind. I might just keep it very simple, but babies do like bright colors."

He moved closer. "True…"

They gently swayed as he held her.

"Did you call Jake?"

"Yeah. They are fine. Drew is over."

"That's good."

Her yawn made him grin.

"I can run you a bath."

"That sounds nice."

"Come on."

He led her to their bedroom and quickly ran the water and tested it. When she sunk into it, she let out a moan.

"This is perfect. Thank you."

"Anytime…"

His wife is so beautiful, even more, while pregnant with their babies. He's scared. What if something goes wrong?

"What?" she asked.

"Nothing. I'm going to go get you some water."

"Okay."

He went downstairs and Tess is in the kitchen.

"Is she still awake?"

"Yes. I ran her bath."

She smiled. "You're good at taking care of her."

"I try." He grabbed some water and some grapes.

"Jason, don't hold onto your feelings and stuff them down, okay? I know you're probably nervous. You should talk to Johnny or Francis, so it won't eat you up inside."

"That's good advice. I'll keep it in mind."

"Good. We can't have you going mental. She might end up killing you if you go too overboard."

He smirked. "I'll take my chance."

She winked and then went upstairs. They are leaving the next day. Part of her wants to stay longer. There are still things to do, but Liz doesn't want them to feel obligated.
