Mitsuharu

Title: Mitsuharu
Rating: T
Fandom: Detective Conan
Summary: There were only three kids of the Akai Family, right? There was no way that Masumi had a third older brother. So why the hell were these people calling him Akai Mitsuharu? More importantly, how the hell was he even alive!? [OC Insert as Akai Sibling]

Haru had received a phone call. "You want me to appear on your talk show with another detective?"

"Yes. The other detective's name is Soul Detective Hotta Gaito. We plan on solving the murder case of Haneda Kohji which took place seventeen years ago by calling upon the spirit of Haneda Kohji,"

Anger welled up in Haru. 'Liar! How dare you use Kohji's name for publicity!' "Sure. I don't mind being on the show," 'It seems like I was their first choice rather than Ojisan. It's most likely due to the fact that a lot of people call me Shin-kun's brother,' He was given the meeting time and location for tomorrow.

"Something important happening?" Subaru asked. He was visibly tired and seemed rather pale. He was also leaning against the wall for support.

Haru frowned. "Are you alright?"

"Peachy," Subaru shrugged.

Haru walked over to him and put a hand to the man's forehead. "You're running a fever!"

"I'm fine," Subaru claimed before falling forward.

"Chewy!" Haru caught him but fell to his knees from the sudden weight. "Chewy, wake up!" 'Has he been overworking himself!?' He lifted one of Subaru's arms and started dragging his brother to the couch. 'His bed would be preferable but I don't want to move him around too much. I'm not even sure if I have the upper body strength,'

Subaru started coughing. "H-Haru?"

"Why didn't you tell me you're sick?" Haru frowned.

"I'm fine," Subaru mumbled.

"No, you're not," Haru shook his head. "Do you think you can get to your room? I don't want you to force yourself to go up the stairs if you don't have the energy right now,"

"I…I can," Subaru told him.

"Are you sure?" Haru hesitated.

Subaru sat up and attempted to stand, though his legs were obviously unstable. "Yeah,"

Haru allowed Subaru to lean on him as they slowly made their way upstairs. Once they came to Subaru's room, Haru helped his brother to his bed. "Did you take any medicine?"

"Not yet," Subaru started coughing again.

"What other symptoms are you experiencing?" Haru asked.

"I'm fine," Subaru repeated. "Haru, you don't have to worry about me,"

"You're obviously sick, Shuichi," Haru addressed him by his real first name. "Don't try to deny it. You already have a fever and you can barely stand on your own. You literally collapsed into my arms moments ago. You're sick and I'm here to take care of you,"

"You have plans for tomorrow," Subaru told him weakly, removing his voice changer and his glasses. His voice was hoarse enough that if anyone overheard him speaking, they wouldn't recognize him as Akai Shuichi. "So don't worry about me,"

"I'll just tell them to ask the Sleeping Kogoro instead," Haru said. "This case also happened in canon so it'll be fine. Your health is very important, Shuu. You're my big brother. You're not a bother. You always looked after me so for once, let me look after you,"

"Was I sick in the original timeline?" Subaru inquired.

"Probably not," Haru replied. "You didn't show up in that chapter or episode. Hey, stop straying from the original question. What other symptoms are you experiencing? You're coughing, having a fever, fatigue…"

"Headache," Subaru listed. "Throat hurts and runny nose,"

"You probably have the flu," Haru noted. "I'll go prepare some soup. Stay in bed," He quickly prepared the chicken soup as well as some crackers and tea. He placed a dose of medicine on the side and brought the tray over to Subaru. "Eat as much as you can. If you get full, don't force yourself. You'll just end up vomiting,"

Subaru managed to drink half the soup, ate a few crackers, and finished the entire cup of tea with his medicine. "I keep telling you that I'll be fine on my own,"

"Shuichi, you're always helping me," Haru reminded. "So I'm going to help you. Remember, you say you'll be fine on your own but you are not alone. I lean on you and you lean on me,"

"That was amazing, Mama!" Masumi commented to her mother after The Spirit Detective's Murder Case was solved. "You managed to use Conan-kun's voice-changing bowtie!"

"It was because there were marks on the dial from when he had used that detective's voice before," Mary responded. "Granted, there were other well-used marks but after testing it out quickly, I found out that the other one was Haru's. To actually think that the boy would be able to speak in anybody's voice at will. The very thought makes my heart race. So, what was the information that Hotta had gotten?"

"Ah, Fukuri said that Asaka, the bodyguard who disappeared, was seen holding a small hand mirror," Masumi informed. "Hotta also believed that Asaka was a woman and that on his show, he was going to pretend that Kohji's spirit was yelling to him 'I am about to be killed by a woman!'"

"I see," Mary narrowed his eyes in irritation and disgust. "That man was only using my nephew's name to gain publicity. Let's start packing our bags. We need to leave at once,"

"Eh? Now?" Masumi questioned. "But I was happy that I was finally able to show Conan-kun the hotel where we were staying!"

"Although both you and Haru trust that boy, I don't," Mary warned. "He may be your guys' friend, but I refuse to trust him fully,"

"You let Haru-nii live with him for the past three years," Masumi pointed out.

"That's different," Mary said. "That was before they got involved by going after my life, and by the looks of it, going after his,"

'Asaka, the bodyguard, was a woman,' Conan thought. 'If she really is Rum, the organization's number two, one of the three descriptions Haibara said was Rum being an effeminate man. Did that mean Rum was a woman who was as strong as a man? Or is Rum possibly a man posing as a woman? If Asaka was the bodyguard seventeen years ago, she must be pretty old by now,'

Conan took out his cell phone and stared at the photo of Mary he had managed to take from when she was hiding beneath the balcony. 'Masumi-san called her 'Mama.' And her face…it's no mistake. This middle school aged girl is definitely Sera Mary-san, Haru's mother! But how did she end up taking APTX 4869?'

Conan: Haru, do you know what happened to your guys' mother? [Image Attached]

Haru: Yeah, I found out when we went to England.

Conan: Who gave her APTX 4869?

Haru: I don't know. I never asked her yet. If she never revealed herself to you, then I'm sure she doesn't fully trust you. I'm sorry Conan, but if she doesn't wish to inform you herself then I can't give her info away. She's my mother. You've met her when we were younger. Mothers are scary when angry.

"It looks like that guy who said he had information about the Haneda Kohji case, Hotta Gaito, is dead," Vodka told Gin.

"Hmph," Gin grunted. "That was a job which Rum screwed up seventeen years ago. It doesn't matter to me. More than that, I was intrigued by the detective they call 'Sleeping Kogoro.' It seems that he's gone and involved himself in this case as well, hasn't he now?

"They said they originally wanted the Replacement Detective of the East, Kudo Haru, to be on the show," Vodka recalled. "He initially agreed but problems came up so he had to suggest Sleeping Kogoro instead,"

"Both of them are suspicious," Gin said. "They're demons in the darkness. If they're demons, it's best to finish him off while they sleep,"

Haru was originally going to solve The Spirit Detective's Murder Case but I wanted him to care for Sick Shuu instead. Gin was only supposed to become suspicious of just Haru, but since I had Haru stay back to care for his big bro, Gin is suspicious of both Sleeping Kogoro and the Replacement Detective.

If Haru's epithet wasn't the Replacement Detective, what do you think it would be?
