Hey people! I hope you enjoy this chapter! And don't be too harsh to Naruto she's a kid with a lot on her plate trying to handle everything at once, everyone will be finding out about a certain psycho Uchiha within the next few chapters, for now we find out what happened with Danzo and certain other developments!

The news about Danzo broke in the morning, both about his actions, and it was much bigger than even those in the know had suspected, it wiped all of Naruto's thoughts about perhaps talking to Tsunade about about Obito out of Naruto's head, she had to focus on Sasuke after all.

Because not only were Danzo's crimes revealed, but the man himself escaped, it seemed he'd been tipped off that he was under suspicion, and when he'd been called in by Tsunade he'd sent a shadow clone in his stead.

By the time Anbu agents had started searching for him the man was already long gone. Sasuke had lost it when they'd been told that, had destroyed a large part of their favorite training ground in a fit of rage, but there was nothing they could do-Danzo was gone and all they could do was try and track him down, but that would take time, and people more skilled than the three teens.

Within hours of the announcement Itachi's name was cleared and Naruto and Sakura had had to drag the younger Uchiha away from a crowd of sympathetic onlookers who were determined to speak to the younger brother of the poor martyr who had been so hated for his crimes which had been to protect Konoha.

And Danzo was the most hated man in the village-especially because of the things that leaked about his Anbu Root organization, the stolen children and the brutal training and experiments.

It was all anyone would talk about-Naruto wished she could be glad about the fact that attention had shifted rather dramatically away from her but... not like this. She'd never have wanted it to be like this.

She and Sakura ended up forming a Sasuke protection squad whenever they did go out-which did give her an excuse to avoid her mom and Kakashi-sensei, a fact that she was unendingly thankful for.

Of course a week after the Inauguration Naruto and Sakura were called to the Hokage Tower. Kakashi knew something but he wouldn't say why, so the two girls headed to the Tower.

When they arrived they were set up to the Hokage's office, where Tsunade, Hiruzen and the proctors of the exams were there, and so was Shikamaru.

Tsunade was sat behind the desk, smiling slightly, with Hiruzen stood leaning on a cane next to her.

"I suppose you three are all wondering why you were called here." she spoke calmly, "It's due to the exams. Obviously with the extenuating circumstances there were some who said that we should consider the exams cancelled-since the third round wasn't finished but after some discussion with the proctors and my predecessor I have decided that-although the fights weren't completed those who's matches we were able to watch could be judged."

Naruto and Sakura exchanged looks at that and Sakura grabbed Naruto's hand, squeezing, "All three of you fought very well during your matches-and all three of you also showed impressive courage in the following battles. Nara Shikamaru-san, I was told that you fought your match very well, you won through your intelligence by out thinking your opponent, and you should feel very proud of yourself, especially when you stepped up into a leadership position alongside Sakura-chan, you have earned a promotion to Chunin."

"Hm. Troubl-"

Naruto kicked Shikamaru's ankle, though it was rather awkward with the fact that she wasn't stood too close to him, but she managed, and the boy shot her an annoyed look before saying, "Thank you Hokage-sama." he bowed his head, "It's an honor." as he spoke Anko was moving forward and handing him a green flak jacket which he took politely enough.

Then Tsunade's gaze was on Sakura, who was almost bouncing her green eyes wide and hopeful. "Haruno Sakura-san." Tsunade spoke up, "I was told that you won your match with skill and intelligence, you planned well and prepared for your opponents strengths and weaknesses. You also took control and led well when the invasion happened, and I have personally seen your strength and courage first hand and I don't think there are many candidates more deserving of a promotion than you. It's my pleasure to tell you that you're being promoted to the rank of Chunin."

"Yes!" Sakura leaped excitedly, pumping her fist into the air, "I'm a Chunin I did it!"

"I knew you could!" Naruto hugged her happily, a wide grin on her lips, "Congratulations Sakura-chan!"

"Thank you Tsunade-sama. Sandaime-sama! Proctors! Thank you!" Sakura bowed low, unable to stop smiling as a second flak jacket was produced and handed to Sakura, who gripped it tightly.

"And lastly, Nohara Naruto-san. Over the course of the exams you've proven your skill repeatedly from what I was told, as well as your courage, you have more than shown that the Will of Fire lives on in you. You also acted with tremendous courage to aid my predecessor in a fight against my old teammate, an act which he says undoubtedly saved his life, and I also personally witnessed your skill during your mission to find me when
Orochimaru showed his face. And so, under these circumstances I have decided to give you a double promotion-"

Naruto's eyes widened slightly in shock, her mouth dropping open, "A-"

"Double promotion. You, Naruto, will be made a Jounin, after all it would be silly to have someone capable of taking on S-rank threats be stuck as a Chunin for any length of time."

Sakura grabbed Naruto's arm tightly, bouncing slightly as Naruto stared in shock for a long moment and then she let out a joy filled cry.

"You're making me a Jounin?"

"Yep." Tsunade laughed- and then Naruto was launching herself across the desk and hugging her tightly, and the woman wrapped her arms around Naruto, grinning as she kept laughing.

"Thank you thank you thank you!"

"My pleasure brat." Tsunade laughed, ruffling the blonde hair, "You deserve it. You've shown leadership skills and excellent intuition during fights, you managed to convince three potential allies to aid Konoha during the attempted invasion and from what I've been told you were the one who formed the plans."

"She was." Sakura piped up eagerly, "She definitely deserves this."

"This is the best day ever." Naruto pulled away only to throw herself at Hiruzen, who chuckled and hugged her, "Thank you Sandaime-sama."

"There's no need for that." the old man patted Naruto on the back, a fond smile on his lips, "You more than earned this promotion. I suspect you should have been made a Jounin as soon as you arrived in the village but we had to go through the formal channels."

"This really is the best day ever."

"We don't have a flak jacket for you." Tsunade spoke up, "Your mom has it at home-along with a present for you I believe. She and Kakashi-san
knew about the plans for the promotion."

"Thank you Hokage-sama." Naruto pulled back, bouncing on the balls of her feet excitedly before she paused, "What about Sasuke-kun?"

"Sadly since he didn't fight in the final round of the exams he wasn't eligible for promotion, but he'll undoubtedly be placed with another team for the next exams and I'm sure he'll pass." Tsunade nodded, "Kakashi will have already spoken with him about the situation."

"Thank you." Naruto grinned, "You're the best Baa-chan-"

"Eh away with you brat." Tsunade swatted her over the head gently, "Now you three are dismissed, out of my office before I throw you out. Sakura-chan I expect you tomorrow morning for training."

"Yes Tsunade-sama." Sakura bowed her head quickly, and she grabbed Naruto's arm and they followed Shikamaru out of the office, pausing when the door closed behind them.

Shikamaru yawned as he looked at the two girls, "Congratulations I guess. This is too troublesome-"

"What, actually taking on some responsibility?" Naruto laughed, "You poor thing."

"Asuma-sensei will be pleased, he was worried he wouldn't be able to convince me to take the exams again."

"Sounds like a legitimate concern." Sakura pointed out, "Still congratulations Shikamaru-kun. We didn't see your matc-"

"I know you didn't." Shikamaru rolled his eyes, "I could see you were trying to sneak off without anyone seeing."

"You did?" Sakura blinked, "Is that why you made such a flashy entrance?"

"Figured it'd draw attention away from you and that Temari girl, seems like I did the right thing there."

"You did. Thank you." Naruto grinned, "We'll see you around Shikamaru-kun."

"You too." Shikamaru nodded, hesitating before speaking again, "Just-your parents, it's been annoying me, your mom adopted you didn't she?"

Naruto's eyes widened, "How did you figure that out?"

"My dads reaction to you, things you've done, oh and the fact that you look a lot like pictures of the Yondaime."

"Huh." Naruto grinned, "I guess you already know, there's no point in trying to hide it." she shoved her hands into her pockets, "Yeah, yeah I am his daughter."

"Good." Shikamaru nodded, "Glad to know." he turned around and walked away, hands stuffed into his pocket and shoulders hunched forward.

Naruto and Sakura exchanged looks and Sakura laughed, "If that boy was any lazier then he'd never get out of bed."

"Too true." Naruto grinned, "I'm a Jounin."

"I'm a Chunin."

"I wish Sasuke was promoted too."

"He'll get promoted next time." Sakura's voice was confident, "He's smart and strong he'll be fine."

"Right." Naruto nodded, "Of course he will." she brushed her hair out of her face, "Kami I... I thought I'd be made Chunin."

"You deserve it." Sakura said quickly, "You're totally badass Naruto-chan."

"And you totally deserved your promotion too." Naruto hooked her arm into Sakura's, letting out a happy noise, "Shall we go home now?"

"Yeah." Sakura nodded, "I'll have to go home to get some clothes later and tell my parents but I wanna see Rin-san and Kakashi-sensei. Thank them both for the training."

"Kakashi-sensei didn't train you much."

"Good point, you and Rin-san are the ones I should be thanking." Sakura remarked lightly, "So thank you-"

"My pleasure." Naruto grinned, and they fell into a comfortable happy silence as they strolled through the streets of Konoha.

It didn't take long for them to reach the Uzumaki estates, and together they made their way inside, and when they reached the house and Naruto opened the door there were several pops and streamers and confetti rained in the hall, there was a banner across the hall with the word congratulations written on it, and waiting in the hall were Rin, Kakashi, Sasuke, Karin and Jiraiya, and all of them were grinning.

Naruto laughed brilliantly, bouncing happily and clapping her hands, "Ah! Thank you guys!"

Sasuke was the first to reach them when everyone started moving, a small smile on his lips, "You guys better not think you're gonna be leaving me behind for long." he said firmly, grabbing Naruto and Sakura's elbows, a determined gleam in his eyes. The fact that we're all different ranks isn't going to tear us apart."

"Of course not!" Naruto pulled her arm free from Sakura's and threw her arms around Sasuke's shoulders, Sakura following her lead.

"Team Seven forever!" the pink haired girl cried happily, "Don't'cha think?"

"Of course." Naruto nodded quickly, and so did Sasuke.

"Family." his voice was firm, "You guys are my family, of course we're sticking together forever."

"See, see growth." Sakura grinned, "Back before we met Naruto-chan you'd have just been jealous-"

"Yeah well, I wasn't exactly coping back then." Sasuke admitted "Things are... they're not as bad anymore." it was true, as much as Sasuke was never going to be friendly as such he was still a lot better than he had been-admittedly he had no interest in making friends outside of his little family but still, that was worlds better than the boy who'd been terrified of getting close to anyone at all.

"You've grown up so much, all of you." Kakashi's voice was filled with pride, "I didn't expect you to do this well I'll admit, you've grown into a team I'm proud of. It's just a shame Sasuke didn't get to fight."

"I'll pass next time." Sasuke shrugged, "I'm pretty sure I'd have passed this time if I'd had the chance."

"You would have." Naruto declared, "I know you would have and you'll definitely pass next time."

"I'll arrange for a team for you to take the exams with." Kakashi promised. "Now, let's focus on the guests of honor."

"You two are amazing." Rin declared proudly. "I've never been so proud in all my life before."

"You're technically the youngest person to ever make Jounin." Kakashi spoke up, "Itachi-san didn't actually make Jounin until after he became a member of Anbu and Anbu ranking works differently.

"I didn't know that." Sasuke spoke up, "Huh, that's pretty cool."

"Oh it is so cool." Naruto laughed happily, "That's awesome."

"And I trained you." Jiraiya crowed proudly, "My student, you're gonna be legendary."

"Well duh." Naruto grinned, "I plan on it, can't become the next Hokage if I'm not legendary."

"Very try." Jiraiya chuckled.

"Now." Rin clapped her hands together, "I have a present for you. After all I feel like a promotion to Jounin justifies a wardrobe shake up."

"Oh?" Naruto tilted her head. "New clothes?"

"Well." Rin took a deep breath, "Considering the fact that the Akatsuki undoubtedly knows who you are by now and they're the biggest threat it seems silly to be too paranoid about people finding out who you are-who your birth parents were." as she spoke Kakashi was pulling out a package from the living room, wrapped in orange paper, and he handed it over.

"There's a few of them." He said gently, "But we had this one altered to fit you."

"What is it?" Naruto was incredibly curious as she tore open the paper wrapping the package, and her eyes widened in shock when she saw white fabric, and she pulled it out of the packaging entirely, her hands shaking as she held it up.

She'd seen it in photos, picture of her dad.

It was his white jacket, the bottom lined with orange and red flames.

It had clearly been taken in and brought up so that it would fit her, and when she turned it around instead of the word Yondaime on the back the names Nohara, Uzumaki and Namikaze were stitched onto it in orange, the Kanji vivid against the white fabric

"T-this was my dads?" her voice wobbled slightly, and Rin and Kakashi nodded silently as Jiraiya spoke.

"We kept some of them as they were but... I suggested it. I thought you'd li-" he was cut off when Naruto collided with him, hugging him tightly.

"Thank you! Thank you so much." she blinked back tears. "I love it so much."

"Put it on!" that was Karin, a wide grin on the red haired girls lips, "Let's see how it looks."

"I.. okay." Naruto nodded, carefully pulling the coat on and running her hands over the fabric. "How does it look?"

"Perfect." Rin was smiling widely, and Kakashi nodded.

"It suits you Naru-chan."

"It does." Karin said eagerly, "You're gonna kick so much ass and people will go running when they see you."

"Not that they didn't already." Sasuke piped up.

"Clearly Sasuke-kun and I need to step up our fashion game." Sakura declared, and Naruto brushed her hands over the coat again, letting out a breath.

"Today might just be one of the best days of my life."
