Mitsuharu

Title: Mitsuharu
Rating: T
Fandom: Detective Conan
Summary: There were only three kids of the Akai Family, right? There was no way that Masumi had a third older brother. So why the hell were these people calling him Akai Mitsuharu? More importantly, how the hell was he even alive!? [OC Insert as Akai Sibling]

"Why is it that delicate high school beauties like us have to clean an old, dusty house that belongs to a detective otaku and an anime otaku?" Sonoko complained as she dusted a bookshelf.

"Once in a while isn't so bad," Ran told her.

"I'm really sorry for asking you to clean the house," Subaru apologized as he brought a pail of water. "It's simply too big for Haru and I to handle alone,"

"That's okay, I love cleaning!" Sonoko's attitude shifted at the sight of the man.

'Oi, oi, you're not going to get my big brother's affection,' Haru thought. 'His heart belongs to Akemi. While he was sick, he became very emotional. He kept mumbling Akemi's name,'

"By the way, wasn't there a girl named Sera Masumi with you two?" Subaru inquired. "I take it she didn't come?"

"Masumi-chan said that she was too busy since she was shifting hotels," Ran informed.

"Ring, ring," Haru answered a nonexistent call. "What's that? You need help changing hotels? Big bro is on the way!" He attempted to run off.

Subaru grabbed his shirt collar. "Nope,"

If Haru had puppy ears, they would've drooped down sadly. He picked up a rag and started cleaning. "When it was just Shin-kun and I, we just hired a maid to come by once a month. Since Shin-kun's busy on a case and Chewy lives here now, it wouldn't feel right,"

"Haru do you know when Shinichi is coming back?" Ran asked.

"Who knows?" Haru shrugged. "I'm going to give you honest love advice, Ran. I am finally qualified to give love advice since I have…had…a boyfriend," His imaginary puppy ears drooped down again. "Never mind.."

"Have you seen anyone strange around Sera-san?" Subaru questioned, patting his brother's back to comfort him. "Someone who is always careful and skilled at bringing down their opponents. They go by the name 'Asaka' but I do not think they would reveal their name to others,"

'Way to be subtle,' Haru thought.

"I know someone like that but their name isn't Asaka," Sonoko winked at Ran. "Ran here is like a trained bodyguard!"

"Stop that," Ran said. "You're making me sound like some musclebound maniac,"

"Oh right, now that you mention the name Asaka," Sonoko recalled. "I heard that Hado Rokumichi, the famous rock singer, is going to release a new single named Asaka! It looks like he's finally set the lyrics to the tune he had composed seventeen years ago and he's going to perform it live,"

"But the title was pretty strange, right?" Ran brought up.

"Strange?" Haru tilted his head. "How?"

"Huh, Haru you don't pay attention to him?" Sonoko blinked in surprise.

"I decided to take a break from rock music ever since…Satan-sama…" Haru shook his head to avoid thinking of that case. "So how was it strange?"

"He kept the title in English for the promo he released online," Sonoko informed. "The title is Asaka but it's spelled CA instead of KA,"

When Subaru did the dramatic one eye opening thing, Haru immediately put a pirate eye patch over Subaru's closed eye. "I told you to stop doing that," Haru grinned cheekily.

"Hey, is that true!?" Conan demanded. "Why was the title written with CA!?"

"No clue," Sonoko was a bit surprised at Conan's outburst.

"There's got to be a reason, right!?" Conan insisted. "How can you not know!?"

"If you're so curious, why don't you go ask him directly?" Sonoko suggested.

"Sonoko, Haru, and I are planning on going to see him on the day before the live concert ourselves," Ran told him. "So you can come with us if you want,"

"If you don't mind, may I accompany you as well?" Subaru requested.

"Sure," Sonoko immediately agreed. "It's to make sure Haru doesn't get hurt, right? Because whenever you take your eyes off of him, he does something reckless like breaking his leg attempting a wheelie,"

Haru gritted his teeth and twitched an eye. 'I was helping to gather the bombs on the Ferris wheel! If it weren't for me, then the tragedy at Touto Aquarium could've been much worse!'

"Actually, I'm also a big fan of his," Subaru added in an attempt to preserve some of his brother's dignity. "By the way, when was that promo released?"

"About a week ago," The girls answered. "Since he's coming back after a long hiatus, it began to trend pretty quickly,"

'About a week ago,' Conan thought. 'That means it would have definitely come to their notice,'

"Visitors are not allowed to see him right now!?" Sonoko exclaimed. "B-But why not!?"

"I'm very sorry," Enjo Kanae, the manager, apologized. "The lyrics for the new song are still incomplete. Rokumichi-san said he wanted to write the lyrics on the stage right now, when it's empty and quiet. The other band members and staff have gone out for lunch. He said he'd finish it off in two hours,"

"Does he often ask for things like this?" Ran asked.

"Yes," Enjo nodded. "Once, he literally finished the lyrics for a song minutes before a concert and sung it without a single rehearsal,"

"Well, I suppose we can cut him some slack," Fuse Okuko, the director of the recording company, said. "This concert is most likely to be his last performance,"

While everyone was getting acquainted with the people who would be the suspects of the case, Haru snuck into the concert hall. 'Being left alone like that is the recipe for a case!' Once he entered and shut the door behind him, he saw that Hado was about to hang himself. He immediately rushed toward him and pulled the noose off of him before he could kick the chair away.

"W-Who are you!?" Hado exclaimed.

'I can't say that I had a feeling that you were going to die,' Haru just smiled. "I'm a huge fan of yours," 'I was actually expecting a murder but there were some suicide cases sprinkled into the series,'

"A fan, huh," Hado slumped into the chair. "I bet you're going to go on about how much my songs have helped you through hard times, right? So I shouldn't give up on life?"

"Nope," Haru shook his head. "You're hurting too, right? Would it help if you had someone to listen to your problems?"

"I doubt you would understand," Hado said.

"Even if I don't understand, letting it out can help relieve at least some stress, right?" Haru offered. "You don't have to force yourself to tell me if you don't want to,"

"The song Asaca was written for my unborn child," Hado revealed. "If they were alive, they'd be around your age, maybe a few years younger. I was on the brink of my debut and working day and night. I wasn't eating or sleeping properly. My girlfriend decided to talk to me when I was about to leave the studio. She tried to run after me but slipped and fell. As a result…"

"I'm sure you don't want to hear this, but it's not your fault," Haru told him quietly. "You didn't want Enjo-san to suffer a miscarriage. You didn't beat her until she lost the child. It's not your fault,"

"I know," Hado nodded. "I know but I'm still blaming myself. If only I hadn't acted that way and spent more time with Kanae instead…then our child would still be alive. Kanae wouldn't have had to chase after me like that,"

"The world is a cruel place," Haru sighed. "Trust me, I've had my share of misfortunes. Five of my family members were murdered," 'Although it was only two in this world plus Shuu fake dying, Mom and Dad from the Real World are still family to me,'

"How did you cope with your loss?" Hado asked.

"At first, I blamed myself for being so weak," Haru admitted. "I blamed myself for not being stronger, for not being faster, for not being smarter. But I continued living with life because I was not alone. I had my family and friends who cared about me. Hado-san, I'm sure Enjo-san still cares deeply about you and doesn't blame you for her miscarriage,"

"I don't understand how she could still love someone like me," Hado smiled sadly. "She deserves someone better,"

"My late brother once mentioned that I deserved better when he found out I was dating someone," Haru chuckled. "But you know what I said? The only person I love is my boyfriend not those that are better than him. I love him, flaws and all. Nobody is perfect, Hado-san,"

"It's been seventeen years," Hado reminded. "Kanae probably changed her mind,"

"If she didn't love you even a little, she wouldn't have continued being your manager," Haru pointed out. "Her staying by your side at least proves that she does still care about you, whether it still be as a lover or only as a friend,"

"Why did you save me?" Hado finally asked.

"Because there was a time where I suffered some weird form of amnesia," Haru recalled. "I had forgotten all my personal experiences with everyone. I knew who everyone was generally, but I could not remember or feel about them on a personal level. They were all strangers to me, just people who I happen to know facts about. When I finally regained my memories, I still can't fully shake their hurt expressions when I was suffering from amnesia. Now imagine, if I had died instead of surviving, they would surely have been sad, right? I didn't want you to die because as I said before, there are still people who care about you not as the rock star, but as a person,"

"You know, I couldn't bring myself to write the actual lyrics of Asaca," Hado said. "My fans will hate me. It was hyped all week,"

"It's not my place to interfere, but I could try helping you write the lyrics if you feel comfortable with it," Haru offered. "I know the song was meant for your unborn child so I understand if you don't want a total stranger to help write the lyrics,"

"Ran, shall we go home then?" Sonoko suggested.

"Yeah, we do have school tomorrow," Ran agreed.

"Eh? We're leaving already?" Conan asked.

"Perhaps it's for the best," Enjo agreed. "Especially since we can't say when the rehearsal will start,"

"An hour or two can't hurt, right?" Subaru said. "It's his last ever performance after all,"

"We really can't, Subaru-san," Ran and Sonoko told him. "It's not like we're die-hard fans like you,"

"Then who was it that gave you the idea of coming here?" Subaru inquired.

"That would be me," Amuro and Vermouth, disguised as Azusa, walked over to them. "Yesterday at Café Poirot, I happened to tell Sonoko-san that I was a huge fan of Rokumichi-san and was able to arrange this little meet up. It turns out that the Suzuki Zaibatsu is investing in the record label that Rokumichi-san belongs to,"

"Heh? You came too, Azusa-san?" Ran asked.

"But you didn't seem very interested in music," Sonoko added.

"Oh, I just hid it in the café, but I am very interested!" Fake Azusa said. "So I followed Amuro-san form the café all the way to the concert hall to see it myself,"

"I was just about to enter the hall when I received her call," Amuro claimed. "I was pretty shocked myself and after explaining at length to the security personnel outside, we were granted access. Speaking of shocked, fancy seeing you here Okiya Subaru-san. Thanks for that the other day. Do you remember me?"

"Oh yes, if I remember correctly," Subaru smirked, going with what Haru and Yusaku had started during the Scarlet Return. "You were the delivery man with the intent of seducing me, right?"

"Eh?" Amuro's eyes became dotted for a brief moment. "I told you that it was a misunderstanding!"

'Bourbon did what?' Fake Azusa was amused by the interaction.

"Was it really a misunderstanding?" Subaru egged on. "You claimed to be a deliveryman yet you had no package. You must have really wanted to see me,"

"On another note!" Amuro tried to change the subject. "Where's Haru-san?"

"Haru?" Subaru immediately started looking around. "Haru?" 'Where did he run off to!?'

"He probably got himself hurt again," Sonoko groaned.

"We've come to check the fire extinguishers," Two policemen opened the doors to the concert hall. "It's just a routine check-up,"

"Hey, wait!" Enjo attempted to stop them.

"Why is there a noose on stage!?"

At the word noose, everyone rushed over into the concert hall. "I guess we should've gotten rid of it before we started writing the lyrics," Haru chuckled nervously.

"Haru!?"

"I'll explain to them," Hado told them about his guilt over Enjo's miscarriage.

"Y-You were going to attempt suicide!?"

"But this kid here stopped me," Hado motioned towards Haru. "Kanae, will you stay by my side?"

"I've been by your side this long," Enjo told him. "Why would you think I would leave you now?"

"This sorta sounds like a proposal," Sonoko commented.

"Hey, is the band back yet?" Haru asked. "I think it's time for a rehearsal,"

"Haru…" Subaru grabbed his brother's shoulder. "What did I tell you about running off like that?"

"Not to…" Haru sighed. "But can we still watch them rehearse?"

"Fine," Subaru agreed. "But you're not leaving my side,"
