"Livvie, what are you going to do?"
"I don't want to stay in the hospital."
"You can go home, but you have to stay home. You can't come see the babies every day."
"They need me here."
"You have to make a choice. You can stay home or stay in the hospital with the babies."
"If I stay in the hospital, can you make sure Karen is okay?"
"Fitz is here. She's fine."
"I don't know how long he's going to be here."
"Will you stop blaming that man for not being here. I know he wishes he had called and handled everything for you. He is here now. Let him be a husband and a dad."
"Mom, he cracks under pressure."
"So what are you going to do? Keep making yourself sick because you won't stay home? Livvie, you know I don't mind helping you with Karen when Fitz is not here. I'm not taking on that responsibility when he's here. That girl has a lot of energy, and momma needs a break from being a mom to your child."
Olivia looked out the window. It was a difficult choice. Stay in the hospital with the babies and not see Karen every day or stay home with Karen and not see the babies every day. She was waiting for Fitz to come back with Karen, the nurse and the babies.
Fitz stood back and talked to his mom while the nurse showed Karen the babies in the window. She was having a breakdown. The rescue crew found her sister, and she wanted him to come with her to Scotland to plan the funeral.
"I'm sorry. I can't go to Scotland right now. If I leave, Olivia will ask for a divorce. I can't disappoint her again."
"Doesn't she have family in DC?"
"Yes, but she shouldn't have to depend on her mom and her friend. I'm her husband."
"What am I supposed to do Fitz?"
"I'm sorry mom. You have to figure something out."
His mother hung up the phone. He knew she was upset with him. He had to make a choice, and this time he was choosing Olivia.
