November 13

I've been a little sick over the past couple of days. It's not all that bad, I just find myself a little bit light-headed and tired at some points throughout the day. I think it may have something to do with how much the weather has changed.

Yesterday I tried to ignore it but today I've spent most of the day laying down and just trying to sleep it off. Medicinal herbs here work pretty well, although a part of me can't help but long for sickness remedies from my era: my mom's chicken noodle soup and a dose of Tylenol.

Inuyasha was out for most of the day helping out with some things in the village. While he was gone I slept and by the time I woke up it was evening and I felt well enough to make dinner for both of us.

I was just finishing up when my husband got home.

"Hey, Kagome," he said when he came through the door.

"Hi, honey. You're just in time for dinner."

He came over and hugged me and kissed me. "You're the best, Kagome. I love you so much."

"I love you too, Yasha. Come sit."

I made plates for both of us and we sat at the table. I giggled at how Inuyasha was digging into the food. "I take it you're hungry."

"For sure. I've hardly eaten today." He took a sip of his drink and then smiled. "You know, I remember a time where you were worried about learning how to cook here and you didn't think you'd do a good job."

"Well you've been eating my food this long so I guess I've improved since then."

"I'll say."

Oh no, had my food really been that bad a few months ago? "Gee, thanks, baby."

Inuyasha suddenly looked guilty. "Wait, I didn't mean it like that, sweetheart! Your food was good back then too, but you've gotten even better with practice."

I smiled and put my hand on his. "Thank you, honey."

"What have you been up to all day anyway?"

"Not much," I replied. "I've been home all day. I took a long nap."

"Are you feeling okay?" he said with concern.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I said. I didn't want to worry him too much. Whatever I had was minor and I didn't want him to get all worked up over it.

After dinner, I cleaned our dishes and Inuyasha put some more wood in the fire. Then the two of us cuddled on the couch and he told me more about our day. I put my head on his shoulder as I listened to him feeling another headache coming on.

"Miroku said we've been asked to do an exorcism. Seems like a demon has been in and out of a village fucking with people. Do you want to come with us again?"

As much as I wanted to come, judging by how I had been feeling lately I thought it would be best that I stayed home to focus on getting better. "As much as I want to come, I should probably stay at home. I haven't been feeling well lately."

Again he looked full of concern. "You said you were fine."

"I know. I didn't want to worry you."

"Stupid. If you tell me then I can take care of you." He put his hand on my forehead then put it on his. "Seems like you're not running a fever. What's been going on?"

"I've been a little tired lately. I've also had some headaches and dizziness."

"How long has this been going on?"

"Since yesterday."

"Damn it, Kagome. You should have told me. Have you seen Kaede about this?"

"I don't think it's that bad, honey. It's probably just a slight cold. I'll get over it soon."

"Well...I won't go with Miroku tomorrow. I'll stay home and take care of you."

"You don't need to do that, Yasha. Miroku will need you."

"The monk will be fine. You're my priority, love."

"You're the sweetest husband in the world, honey. I swear I'll be fine. You should go, bring home some money. Don't worry about me."

He studied me for a moment trying to see how serious I was. "Fine, I'll go. But I'll still worry about you."

I giggled and kissed him. "I know."

He put his arm around me and we were quiet for a few minutes.

"You know, this will be the first time we've been apart since you've been here," Inuyasha said. "Well, except for those days you were in your era."

I realized he was right and it made me kind of sad. "You're right. But I guess we have to eventually. I'll miss you."

He hugged me a bit closer. "This won't take long. I'll be back the day after tomorrow."

I know I'll miss him terribly while he's gone. It makes me sad to know I'll have to spend a night without him. But at least this time, I'll know he's going to come back unlike when I was in my era and had no way of knowing whether the well would reopen or not.

I've made some tea with medicinal herbs and I've been drinking it while I'm sitting here writing. Inuyasha is sitting on the bed watching over me. It's sweet how protective he is of me. I know he'll worry about me just as much as I'll worry about him while he's gone.
