Chapter 29: That Would be Enough
Amelia rolls over and smiles at Steve, he's awake noting in a journal. 'Hey,' she grins, burying her hands under her pillow and looking up at him. He leans down and kisses her softly. 'Good morning, how did you sleep?' Amelia groans, 'so well, amazingly well and you?' Steve nods, 'me too. I can't wait to wake up every day here with you.' Amelia laughs, 'it won't always feel like a holiday. Trust me.'
Steve gazes around the room, sunlight streaming in, 'no, I guess not. I do miss your pink walls, I must admit.' Amelia hides under the duvet, 'ughh, don't remind me! That was mortifying.' She peeks out, 'what you drawing?' He raises a brow, looking at his paper, 'I was penning a letter to Tony.' Amelia sits up sombrely, 'oh, can I see?' He passes her the pad and she takes it, slowly looking down. 'Steve!' She slaps his arm, it's a picture of her sleeping and Steve shrugs. 'I couldn't find the words, I was inspired by something else.' Amelia laughs and blushes, 'sweet talker, but please destroy that.' Steve appears offended, 'I worked hard on this, took a lot of imagination to picture you with your mouth closed.' Amelia turns bright red, knowing it's true, she's an unattractive sleeper.
'Hey, I can hear Rosie outside, on a bike?' Amelia smiles, 'must be my old one.' Steve looks down at her, stroking her hair. 'When is Tony expecting you back?' Steve doesn't answer and she looks at him sceptically, 'Steve?' He slouches down, cuddling close to her, admitting 'I didn't tell anyone where I went.' She acts shocked, 'you rebel, you.' She kisses his face softly, 'guess what? Me neither. I guess rebels do get results.' Steve pulls the covers over both of them, 'it's like we ran away.' He turns serious, 'yeah, that would be nice.' Amelia throws her leg over his, hooking him closer, almost forgetting the baby bump between them. Steve looks down at her, 'how you feeling?'
She rolls onto her back, 'achy, fat, hungry, hot, fed up, and all these things and more, honestly, it's like my birthday came early.' Steve laughs at her, 'will it be worth it?' Amelia nods, stroking her tummy softly, 'yes.'
'Can I ask you something?' Amelia asks innocently, he nods, pushing the comforter down. 'Do you find me… attractive, like this, you know, with child? Boobs, belly, huge nipples.' Steve chuckles, kissing her cheek, 'well I haven't noticed the last thing. But, and I feel a bit guilty, but yeah. You look different somehow, you seem to shine.' Amelia laughs heartedly, 'no, that's actual sweat!' Steve shakes his head, dismayed by her attitude, 'no, it's love. You're in love.' He nods to her tummy and she melts, holding her bump, 'I am. I love her so much already. If she was actually a he or had ten heads, I love everything about her or him! I can't wait to meet our baby.'
'I've got more of my classes soon, think you might be around?' Steve seems confused, 'you know plastic baby, Dad, get the ice chips. Dad, hold the hair. Dad, put a rubber on it next time.' Steve's brow creases, 'that sounds… fun?' Amelia grins, 'oh it isn't, but they recommend it. I met some nice people last time, we went for lunch every time after, I can't remember anything from the classes, but there's a sandwich place across the street.' Steve smiles at the way she mentions food on the regular.
'Hey, you want help with the letter to Tony?' Steve shakes his head, 'no, that's something I need to do by myself.'
He lies back and looks to the ceiling. 'Have you changed your mind?' She asks nervously, Steve sighs. 'Worryingly, I have no doubts. It's just when and how.' Amelia's tummy grumbles between them and she blushes, 'sorry.'
'Oh, can you help my dad out today? He wants to get the quad bike down for Rosie.' Steve looks panicked, 'Steve, it's basically a trike, don't overreact.'
They can hear Petch at the door and Amelia begs, 'don't let him in! Please! He's Kujo in the mornings.'
Steve hugs her close, kissing her cheek. 'You know we have that benefit gala in a couple weeks?' Amelia freezes, 'yes,' she snaps, lying. Then she deflates, 'noooo. I forgot, do I have to go? Can't I be at home, pregnant?' Steve kisses her nose, 'no, because it's not the forties and you just don't want to go, that's not an excuse.' Amelia shrugs, 'kind of an excuse.' Steve looks at her dryly, 'well I didn't want to vacation in New England last minute, but here we are.' She looks horrified, sitting up, ready to argue over that one, 'I'm kidding, relax.' She settles back down, 'good, because you bought a house here!' Steve looks around, swinging his legs out and jumping from the bed happily. He strolls to the window and peeks out the veil curtain, 'yeah, I did, didn't I?' It's like he can't believe it.
He can see Rosie playing and running around and Peter reading the paper. Steve looks back at Amelia, 'but how much rent to charge you?' He pretends to think, and she smiles. Steve strolls over to his bag, reaching in and pulling out a pair of jeans, hopping in, he asks 'so what do you want to do today?' Amelia sits up, 'I… what I really want? I want to go home, see Andi, make everything right.' Steve is shocked but agrees, 'that sounds like a plan, you wanna skip breakfast, head on now?' Amelia looks annoyed, 'you monster, no! And we can go after lunch, thank you very much!'
…
'So, this is the second scan and then she still has another to go?' Peter asks looking down at the sonogram image of the baby. 'So realistic, isn't it?' Steve smirks at his wording, 'yeah, super detailed.'
Peter holds it further away, 'I don't think I even remember my two's. Evelyn probably threw them out, not the most sentimental of people.' Steve looks around the cluttered garage, knowing the same can't be said for Amelia's dad.
'Now, you're sure I can keep the train set here?' Steve nods merrily, 'no problem, I mean I am getting a great deal.' Peter scoffs, 'don't remind me, I might change my mind yet.' Peter looks to the rafters, 'aha, there it is.' He points at the bike and Steve watches him nervously, 'Pete?'
The older man mumbles, grabbing a broom and trying to drag the quad bike to the edge.
'I wanted to ask you something else?' Mr Miller continues prodding the bike, spotting a metal bucket and deciding if he can stand on it or not. 'What else can I give you, son? Consider the patio furniture thrown in, Dana hates it anyway. We are in disagreement about the hot tub, damn thing.' Steve shakes his head, 'uh no. Maybe you should stop, sir. I can get that for you.'
'What I wanted to discuss was, well I…' Peter watches him, 'come on, Steve, get on with it, I want to get the canoe down as well.' Steve looks up again and then back to the older man. 'I want to ask Amelia to marry me,' he spills and Peter watches him.
He just shrugs 'yeah, ok.' Steve can't believe how easy that was, but then the older man turns back to him, 'will you need a ladder? Or can you reach? Len, next door has a very nice step ladder we could borrow. I'm hoping he may forget who he loaned it to one of these days.' Steve nods slowly, 'uh, I can reach.' Peter slaps his back, 'brilliant, if I get chatting with Len, I'll still be there in an hour. Leon, his son, is no better. You know him, right?'
Steve frowns, recalling the sate Amelia agreed to earlier in the week 'hmm, yeah, sort of.'
Steve is confused, shaking and clarifying 'did you hear… is that ok? If I ask her? You know, marriage?' Peter nods, 'yes, she's desperate to be asked, put the girl out of her misery.' Steve tries to hide his smile, knowing Amelia will curse her father for telling him that. 'Sargent Barnes, on the other hand, didn't ask me. He's in my bad books, will mention it when I see him. Probably on the big day now, he's very good at avoiding me. I thought we were fishing friends.' Steve smiles, 'Bucky has always been able to get what he wants and talk his way out of anything.'
'You got a ring?' Steve shakes his head. 'A plan?' Steve shrugs, 'not really.' Peter rolls his eyes, 'well I won't hold my breath then for this year, knowing you two.'
Steve grabs a stool and climbs up, looking across the rafters and pulling things down. 'I asked her a couple years back.' Peter looks up, 'oh, yeah, I know. After you kissed that blonde girl at the funeral, right?' Steve turns beet red, 'how do you…' Mr Miller laughs, 'Andi tells me nothing, Amelia tells me everything, too much maybe.'
They can hear a voice and Peter warns him, 'look sharp, it's the wife!' Amelia opens the garage door and Steve sighs, almost wishing he hadn't asked the man. 'You two ok? Taking a while?' She's eating a muffin and Peter nods, 'Steven here is a bit slow, but he'll do.' She looks up at him, spotting things on the roof, 'aww, my roller blades! Steve, can you get them down?' Steve looks panicked, 'you're not using them?'
'I might do,' Amelia strolls around the garage, 'right, well, we better make a move soon, actually, forget the roller blades, Steve.' He looks at her in irritation and throws them back up with a sigh. Peter claps his hands, holding the door open for her. 'We'll just get the canoe and meet you out by the car.'
She leaves and Peter smirks, 'didn't know if it was about to happen, just then.' Steve grimaces, looking around the old garage, thinking even he can do better.
…
'I hate it when you leave,' Dana admits, hugging Amelia close. 'No, you don't, we leave a mess and now you will probably end up canoeing this weekend.' Dana asks if she can touch Amelia's baby bump, cradling it softly between her two palms. 'You look beautiful, you're doing wonderfully.' Amelia once again thinks she's exaggerating, 'thank you for having us, really, it's been exactly what I needed, probably all of us.' She reaches into her bag and pulls out another copy of her second scan, 'this is for you, I'm sorry I never mailed any, I'm a bit crap. So, I'll see you for the dress shopping?' Dana stares at the picture, looking up 'yes, I can't wait, I'll be there, flying by myself for the first time ever, your dad offered to come but… let's just hope I'm not in a row with your mom.' Amelia kisses her cheek, 'no chance, she's an author, so she travels business.' Dana mouths an 'oh.'
'Send our love to Andi and Bucky, and just be careful, don't overdo it. Nathan was two weeks early, I was not prepared, kept working until the very end.' Amelia nods, 'well, Rosie was late and I think we are all banking on the same, otherwise it might be placenta and vows.'
Peter shakes Steve's hand, 'see you at the wedding, I expect, but who's? Yours or Andi's?' He jokes and Steve looks on in horror, checking Amelia isn't listening. He peers down at Rosie, she squints, confused, 'what wedding?' Steve suggests she climbs in the car and picks some music. Peter squeezes his shoulder, 'I won't tell her, don't worry and tell your buddy I want a word.' Steve smiles knowing Bucky will hate that.
'Thank you again for calling me that time about Mia,' Peter says sincerely and Steve nods, 'thank you for calling me a couple days ago.' Peter stares across at his oldest daughter, 'there's something else I wanted to say…' Steve looks at him, waiting for the imparted wisdom. 'Find a hobby. Two girls and their mother, it's a challenge. Also, they aren't always right, stand your ground, son.'
Steve watches him, as Peter walks away to hug Amelia close.
…
Amelia and Steve pile in through the front door, Rosie asleep on Steve's shoulder. Amelia turns to him in the hall, yawning, 'I'm exhausted, but I had fun, thank you for coming to get me.' Steve smiles down at her, 'you are welcome, turned into an expensive trip.' Amelia sighs and looks around, knowing now starts their final months in this house. 'No second thoughts?' He asks her and she smiles warmly, 'no, only happy ones.'
'Heeeeey, don't freak out' a voice whispers and they both looks across to see Andi. She creeps in from the dining room and Amelia clutches her heart, 'crap, I think my waters just broke.' Steve looks down at her, panicked, before realising she's kidding. Amelia starts to speak, intending to question why she's there, she suddenly softens and pulls her sister into a hug. Steve smirks and wanders past them, carrying Rosie up the stairs.
'I'm so sorry that I shouted, are you ok? I'm just really sad that you're going, I'll miss you. But I'm so, so happy for you, you're in love, your job is good, your wedding will be amazing, everything's perfect.' Andi offers a weak smile, unintentionally her sister reminding her how perfect things were just two days ago. 'Yeah, let's move on. Did you have a nice time, do you feel better?' Amelia grins soppily, 'it was just what I needed, I missed you though. Oh, and I saw mom.' Andi gasps, 'oh good for you, that's our quota done for at least a year.' Amelia chuckles 'not quite, don't forget dress shopping next week.' Andi blanches, 'uh, yeah, maybe.' Amelia picks up on the tone and wonders what that means.
Steve returns and Andi looks between them. 'So… We need to talk.' Steve looks up at her in concern, 'we?' Andi nods, she pushes past them and walks to the back door, tapping it and beckoning someone in. After a short time, Bucky appears, double taking at the two new arrivals and finishing his cigarette, throwing it into a plant pot.
'You're smoking?' Steve asks in shock and he just shrugs, coming inside and wiping his feet on the mat. 'They're Mia's.' Amelia pales, then blushes, 'I don't smoke, they are from that party, years ago. Wait, did you go in my desk?' Bucky grumbles and kicks off his work boots.
'You two ok? Nice time?' Bucky asks, coughing and not looking at them. Steve nods half-heartedly, 'we. Are. Fine. What about you? What's the smoking about?' Bucky wipes his hands roughly, 'oh, I'm done now, I finished the pack, I'll buy you some more.' Amelia flushes deeply, 'I don't smoke, it's fine.' Bucky holds her gaze and she looks between all the adults, 'umm, what's happening here?' Andi suggests they sit at the dining table and Steve tries to make eye contact with Bucky.
Amelia peers about the table, piles of paperwork covering it. She pulls out a chair, hissing in pain a little. 'Just my back, I'm fine.' Bucky stares off, not engaging at all. Steve takes a seat, 'what is all this? What's wrong?' Bucky nods for Andi to take over and she babbles, 'really? I think, surely you…' Bucky bangs the table with the flat of his palm, making Amelia jump. 'Sorry. Just do it, kid, tell them.'
Andi passes Steve the letter and explains, 'Bucky has been suspended due to a sexual harassment accusation pending full investigation and most likely disciplinary procedures.' Steve eyes the document, looking up at Andi is surprise. Amelia leans across, 'what?' She can't believe it and she skims the typed complaint.
'Who wrote this?' Steve asks firmly and Andi poises her hands on the table, 'Victoria Haynes, Bucky's last communications operative.' Steve and Amelia look to him and Steve drops the letter, 'well it's nonsense, all lies.' Bucky can't look at them, 'it's not all lies.' Steve is panicked, Andi quickly explaining, 'the sexual harassment parts are, but Bucky is quite upset about some of the more character based elements, shall we say.' Steve appreciates her attempted tact and he looks over to his friend secretly. Amelia leans back, 'but you can fight this? Put a case together, deny it? Right?' Andi nods hopefully.
Bucky interrupts, 'I don't know that I'm going to.' This is news to Andi and the three stare at him, 'you have to, Buck. This is defamation of character.' Bucky laughs, 'doesn't matter when your record is as black as mine, just another nail, hey?' Steve shakes his head in frustration, Andi looks on sadly, any headway she thought she made, swept away. 'This is slander, Bucky. I know that,' Amelia announces.
He looks over at her and they share a look. She catches Steve's intense glare. Bucky nods and gives her permission with his eyes and she reveals, 'I knew she kissed him.'
Andi just wipes her face, 'great. Well, that's no help and quite upsetting, but this isn't about me, so let's come back to that bit later.' Steve watches Amelia, surprised that she kept it from him. She reaches for his hand under the table, whispering, 'I wanted to tell you, he was scared, he didn't want you to think bad of him or worry.' Steve nods stiffly, shaking her away. Turning back to his friend, 'if you want out, then leave, do something else. But not like this, this is an insult, and we can fight it. We've fought worse.' Bucky looks up slowly, he offers a tiny nod. 'Aren't you tired of fighting?' Bucky mumbles and Andi is the only one who hears it.
'I'll talk to Tony. When did this happen?' Steve asks heatedly, Bucky confirms, 'two days ago.' Steve's brow pinches, 'you should have called, we would have come back.' Amelia agrees, looking to her sister, 'are you ok?' Andi brushes her off, lying, 'I'm fine. Tony sent me home, I'm back in tomorrow. But I uh, I saw her.' At the last line Steve's eyes widen, 'tell me you're kidding? You did not speak to her? By saw her, you mean at a distance?' Andi scoffs 'no, she's mad. Of course I spoke, I had to. She's besotted with Buckeroo over there and completely fake in every way. Not to mention a bare faced liar.'
Steve looks at her firmly, 'no more chatting with her, no more name calling or assumptions. She's not mad, she thinks she's right, for whatever reason and we will respect that, stay away, Andi. I mean it.' The blonde sister baulks, swallowing and nodding in agreement. 'Ok, I hear you. I'm sorry.'
Amelia looks down sadly, 'I knew a girl at college who… her tutor made a move, she was so upset, it was terrible... he got fired…' Andi looks at her, wondering why she'd bring that up, Amelia defends 'I'm just saying, it does happen, obviously I believe Bucky here, but this kind of thing happens and to a lot of people, it's awful. I don't know why she would say this if it's not true, do people really do that?'
Steve ponders Amelia's words, his gut tells him to believe people when this kind of thing occurs, but looking at Bucky, he just can't believe this.
'Bucky, we will sort this. We will await their decision and go from there. Now, you guys staying for dinner?' Andi and Bucky look to each other, she meekly admits 'he's been kicked out, he can't stay at the tower until this is sorted and…' Steve looks up, wondering how this can get worse. 'And the arm is on hold,' Bucky chimes in. Amelia covers her mouth, suppressing her emotions.
Steve shakes his head, 'I'll never forgive, Tony.' Bucky stops him, 'don't. Stark was actually, well, he was on my side. The only one.' Steve watches him despondently, 'that's not true, everyone will be on your side. She's just misunderstood a few things you've said.' Bucky tilts his head, 'it's more than that, read it. You'll recognise the person she describes.' Steve pushes the letter away, 'I don't need to right now, I know you didn't lay a finger on her.'
Bucky nods, appreciating the blind faith. 'You all may have backed the wrong horse on this one.' Andi and Steve share a look, 'definitely not,' she confirms, reaching for his hand.
Bucky looks down at their joined hands, 'there's something you should know…' His eyes flick to Steve and Andi frowns, realising he means her. She peers between them, 'what else could there possibly be?' Bucky appears anxious, opening his mouth and struggling for words, he pleads to Steve, 'can you?' Steve agrees, clearing his throat, explaining, 'when Bucky returned… you know there was a hearing, but after that he made a deal.' Andi doesn't move, her mouth agape, her stomach plummeting. 'The thing is, the trial… no, the hearing, well, he was found not of a sound mind, or in control of his own actions, but other things started to come to light, of the same nature and there was only one other option. A deal.'
Andi shrugs, confused, 'sorry, a deal?' Steve nods and continues, 'Bucky was to work for… how shall we say it, a good cause? and the Avengers initiative was deemed suitable for that. A deal was set up with the CIA. Bucky agreed to five years' probation, on their terms, in return he would work with the team, a sort of penance for his… uh, for the Winter Soldier's crimes.' Andi is frozen in confusion, wondering how she didn't know this. Amelia just stares at her lap and her sister can't tell if she knew or not. Andi's face contorts in confusion, 'so, when you say things like you don't want to be here, you actually mean, you don't want to be here, but you sort of have to be here.' Bucky doesn't move and she begins to pull her hand away from his. Staring up at her with begging eyes, he declares, 'I wouldn't change what we have, and I meant what I said, I have found something. I only have eighteen months left and then I'm free, really free.' Andi's brain can't keep up, asking 'and then what? You would have left? What then?' Bucky shrugs, 'I thought about staying, keep going, keep working, turns out I don't hate it like I thought I might. But we can still be us, you and me, that's my choice, you're my choice.'
Steve eyes them worriedly, 'if for whatever reason the work with the team was to fall through, Bucky would be looking at other CIA projects, we don't know where or details. He could end up anywhere they see fit.' Amelia covers her eyes, turning away.
'Who else knows? How do I not know this?' Andi demands as softly as she can. She's trying to keep her emotions in check, but this all feels too much. Bucky grumbles, 'Fury set it up, signed it off, only he and Steve know. It was meant to help with my "rehabilitation" back to normal life,' he grimaces, 'hmm, that worked.' Andi starts to speak, Bucky cutting her off, 'I didn't want anybody to know, I just wanted to be treated like everyone else, and maybe… maybe forget for a moment that I'm still someone else's instrument, still at someone else's beck and call. But you and me, that's real, this is real, all of it, believe me, please?' Andi weakens, squeezing his hand and nodding slowly. She eyes Bucky, as he stares at their entangled hands, she didn't know about this kiss or any deal and suddenly she feels a seed of doubt beginning to flower into do you know him at all?
'Mommy?' A sleepy and confused Rosie calls from upstairs and Andi insists she will go, keen to get away 'I could do with a break.' Amelia struggles to get up, Bucky watches her leave with a sad sigh, Steve stares hard at his friend, 'ok, I'm going to call Tony.' Bucky ignores him as he leaves the room.
Amelia stares down, shaking her head, 'I should have made you report it, log it with someone. I'm so sorry, I…' Bucky looks at her dryly, 'don't make this about you, Miller,' he jests and she cries a little. 'How can you be like that, what they've said about you!' She scrabbles for the paper and reads aloud 'bullying nature? That's not you. This is just plain wrong. It's utter crap.' She gets more and more upset and he reaches for her hand, 'hey, hey! Stop crying,' he's firm and she eventually nods, 'sorry, I just…'
'I know,' he sits back. She places a clammy palm on the paperwork, 'some of this is Steve, the shouting bit and Andi, fraternising… I mean are they in trouble as well?' Bucky shakes his head, 'no, I took the rap for that part.' Amelia's face crumples again, she pleads 'stop being a hero, put yourself first.' He scoffs at her, 'like you do?'
She stares at him, 'ok, so I don't, but this week I did, annnnd I found some peace, I'm in a better place for it. Proof! Please, just promise me you'll fight this, for the love of God fight for this, this is your life. I know it might not feel like it, but you're in the driver's seat. You made it this far.'
He laughs at her bitterly 'you are the one who says it's who you are, not what you do.' Amelia agrees, 'I know, but this is about you, this is slander, Steve's right. I'll run it as a fucking lead story, if I have to. If you don't fight it, I will. We all will.' Bucky smirks a little at her, heavily pregnant and fired up. 'You need to calm down,' he half jokes, her fists shaking and she growls, 'I can't, I cannot believe anyone would do this to you.'
Bucky shrugs, 'that's what I get, I guess, for trusting people.' Amelia's stomach churns, 'no, it's not. Who was the last person you trusted?'
'You,' he admits, and she softens, 'and I'm still here and I kept my promise, even if my boyfriend isn't speaking to me now.' Bucky sighs, 'he will come around, tell him I threatened you into it.' Amelia giggles, 'he won't believe that.' Bucky throws the letter across the table, 'this Bucky would have threatened you.'
Amelia bangs the table, 'that Bucky doesn't exist. Now, you staying here for a while or what?' He looks at her sadly, 'I don't have anywhere else to go.' She stands up slowly, struggling and he's pained just watching her. She waddles over to him and hugs him close, pulling his head against her bump and he gradually relaxes, closing his eyes and denying that it's tears on his face.
His eyes re-open and he focuses on the movement against his cheek. 'She's telling you to fight,' Amelia whispers.
Steve stops beside the door, watching his two loves sadly. Amelia holding Bucky tightly, 'you ok in Andi's room? She kicks at night,' Amelia grins and he nods as she pulls away.
They both look up, spotting Steve. 'Don't hate Amelia for not telling you, I begged her, I had to tell someone who wasn't compromised.' Steve steps further in, putting the phone back on the hook, 'Tony's not there.' Andi jogs down the stairs, returning and looking between them all.
'You're still getting married?' Amelia asks suddenly. Andi debates, 'well, actually, I was going to say, if Bucky wants to postpone…'
'No.' They all look over at him, 'no, we can't let this wreck anything else. If everything goes royally bad, you are all I have and… and that's enough.'
…
Bucky later finds Andi, changing her sheets, frantically remaking the bed. He watches her silently from the doorway, leaning his head against the wooden frame. 'Hey?' She looks up at his deep voice, 'oh, hey, just uh, sorting this out, you know.' Bucky sighs, 'look, I'm sorry I didn't tell you.' She throws a pillow onto the floor, asking firmly 'which bit?' He accepts that.
Bucky poises himself, 'the kiss, the deal. I was wrong, I should have told you about Victoria, we might not be in this mess now if I had, but I didn't want you to think I did something… I felt by telling you I was making it big, giving it space it didn't warrant.' Andi stretches the new sheet across the mattress, moving hastily, like she's trying to distract herself. It flies off the corner across from her and she stands with a huff, 'you should have told me all of it, we swore not to keep secrets. Having said that, I understand the feeling of thinking you are doing the right thing, I kind of get it. I want to be supportive.' He looks hopeful, agreeing quickly, thankful for the reprieve. She nervously inquires 'so, with this deal in mind, I guess you have a fair bit riding on all of this?' Bucky just shrugs as she bites her lip, 'why is it so secret? If anything, you are doing your time, repaying in kind, it's a good thing, you do good work.' Bucky looks at the floor, 'I guess. I think it was so it might feel real, like I was free for once, choosing to be here, be with Steve, fight the good fight. But it can't all be bad, it led me to you, after all.' Andi softens, 'Bucky, it's your life, you can be whoever you want to be.' He shakes his head, 'I just want to be a good guy. For me, for Steve and now for you.' Andi sits on the unmade bed, 'no more secrets, ok? Unless the world is ending, I think I'd rather not know that.' Bucky takes a seat beside her, smirking a little. 'Ok, I can do that.'
'Wait, does Natasha know about this deal?' Bucky just shakes his head, she's shocked, 'ok, so it really is top secret, that makes me feel a little better.'
AN: Poor Bucky Thanks for reading. Rosie will keep him busy!
