(The Nightly Bonfire)
*September 9th, 1918*
*8:00pm*
It was a chilly night as Kaede and The Peddler sat by a bonfire and ate some hot dogs that Kaede managed to pack for her journey.
"So how long is it gonna take until we reach the cave?" Kaede asked as she took a bit from her hot dog.
"My current projections say that it could take roughly seven days or so and It's quite a long journey" The Peddler replied while Kaede's expression became shocked and surprised.
"Seven days or so!? I can't make my friends wait this long!" Kaede exclaimed as The Peddler turned his direction to Kaede.
"Well that's just my estimate but I believe it will be worth it and Is your friends in a safe place?" The Peddler asked as he crossed his arms.
"My friends are safe but I'm worried that someone could harm them and I just don't know what to do with myself If my dear friends were to be harmed or worse" Kaede replied back as her tone became more sad.
"You must care about your friends don't you?" The Peddler asked.
"Of course and I am willing to do anything to save them from harm and I just don't want them to think that I abandoned them for selfish reasons" Kaede answered back as she looked down in sadness.
"If I must ask, Why do you think that? Was there an event in your childhood that may have triggered this?" The Peddler asked as he looked at Kaede with a rather more concerned look on his face as he noticed Kaede was silent and didn't say anything.
"If you don't want to talk about it then it's okay and we all have trials and many hardships in life but I'm sure your friends are people that should be kept in your heart" The Peddler said with a smile as Kaede began to speak.
"Thank you. It's just losing friends is one of my biggest fears and I want to find this sword as quickly as possible" Kaede answered back in a sad tone once more.
"Always have faith in your friends and most importantly yourself. I can tell that you are a joy to be around with and that no matter the odds that your friends will always have trust within you. Always remember that Kaede!" The Peddler said in a more motivated tone of voice as it seems that it struck Kaede as she looked back up at him.
"Thank you and It means alot to me and I know we just met but you are a good person. I can tell" Kaede said with a smile.
"And I can say the same for you" The Peddler replied back as the pair shook hands.
"He's right. I should have more faith in myself and my friend's trust and I know that Anastasia and the others care so much about me and they know that I won't ever leave them no matter the odds and I know it will be challenging however I just need to be remind of this moment" Kaede thought to herself with a smile.
"Say, Do you have more hot dogs? The Peddler asked as he formed a smile on his face once more.
"You bet I do!" Kaede said as she looked in her bag and proceeded to take out another pack of hot dogs.
"But I do wonder what the cave challenge would be and I wonder if I will pass it or die like the others…" Kaede thought to herself as she took the hot dog and gave it to The Peddler as he put it on a stick and roasted it.
"So about your identity. How long was it since you had forgotten your name?" Kaede asked as she roasted her hot dog in the process.
"I don't know and all I can remember is that my father was a peddler like me while my mother shined shoes for local townspeople alike however I don't remember my name" The Peddler answered back as he took a bite from his hot dog.
"Well just know that once I get that sword then surely you will remember your name but I'm glad that you are able to remember your parents at least" Kaede said with a smile as she stared at the fire as she roasted her meal.
"Do you remember anything about your parents as well Kaede?" The Peddler asked as he turned his direction towards her.
"I do and my mother sadly passed away last year due to cancer and it was quite hard for me and my father but we managed to stay strong through this terrible time and worst of all for her she had an accident during work and it caused her to be bond in a wheelchair" Kaede answered back in a more bummed out tone of voice.
"I'm terribly sorry to hear about all of this and may God bless you and your father and just know that your mother is always here with you" The Peddler said in a soft tone of voice as he pointed at Kaede's heart.
"Thank you and my mother always lives in my heart and the memories that I had with her will always be cherished" Kaede replied back with a smile as she took a bite from her hot dog.
"It seems we both needed tonight and It seems that you and me were destined to meet" The Peddler said with a chuckle as he yawned during the process.
"Tired right? Well It's best for both of us to get some rest because we do have a long day tomorrow as well" Kaede said as she smiled and chuckled.
"Agreed and have a wonderful night and see you in the morning" The Peddler said as he prepared his resting place and proceeded to lay down.
"Goodnight and thank you for cheering me up," Kaede replied back as she put out the fire and proceeded to rest for the entirety of the beautiful night.
