It's a rare thing for me to write battle scenes, I don't know how I'll manage it. But there'll be no Night King, he is long dead (really dead), only a myth in this world. So the "killed that one and we win" tactic isn't an option.

Friends-to-be

Bran stares at the sky long after the three dragons have become too small to see.

Finally, Catelyn clears her throat. Truth to be told, she has also been lost in her thoughts for a while, but time does not stop. Both of them have things to look after.

Bran turns to her, still enchanted.

"Mother, is Shireen going to stay with us?"

"The Queen would like that, I believe."

Bran nods, content. He would like it to.

He tried to talk to her last night during the feast. But Shireen was… distant somehow. Brooding. Her attention wandered, it felt like she forgot Bran, immediately after she answered one of his questions.

It has not discouraged Bran, though.

Among his siblings he is the one who makes friends the most easily. Unless one counts Robb and Jon. But they have always seemed grown men compared to him so different rules apply to them.

Sansa can manage very well with adults and children. Boys, however, after a certain age start behaving… odd around her. Some of them become shy and strained, some of them become loud. But – according to Bran – they are equally irritating.

Arya makes everything a competition. And she gets angry when someone proves to be better even if she does not care for that activity, at all.

Bran loves stories. He has always loved them. Not just stories of books, but stories of people. All of them have a lot of it, either they are aware of that, or not. And Bran can offer his owns with good grace in exchange.

Regarding Shireen, well, she is the most interesting person Bran has ever met. (And he has met a wildling king and a real queen.) Shireen has a dragon and she can fly and she has lived in the south, moreover on an island!

So Bran knows they will be great friends. The only question is how to persuade Shireen about that. Quite a question, indeed. But he loves riddles, as well.

Author's note: In the beginning, Bran was watching Dany, Jon and Shireen flying towards the Wall.
