Chapter 72 A New Approach

(Location: Solitas airspace Kingdom of Atlas Remnant)

The ship was still flying calmly through the dark skip, ever so relaxing. Even the engines were barely audible making the trip one to sleep it off. Velvet was wide awake not feeling like going back to rest. She slept enough and wanted to stay like this. Staying in her seat was getting annoying as the long haired woman decided to get up. The others were still sleeping. A smile spread her features, after everything they've been through they deserve the break. Better to let them before another long day comes. The former therion left the passenger wing heading somewhere else. A long corridor with windows where she could see outside. The sky looks so beautiful and peaceful, her eyes were all over the vast space.

Hard to believe so many things have happened in, one year. Almost a year and a half time sure flies. For the older Crowe it seemed like yesterday since the Fall of Beacon. Everyone fought their hardest, she fought her hardest and they still lost. Ending up in a coma, awakening in Atlas Hospital, leaving for Haven, the battle of Haven, the journey to Argus, the battle of Argus and now they were heading for Atlas. She was sure once they arrived, it was going to be hard to get any rest. Because she had that feeling that the situation there is more complicated than she thinks. Though, Winter hasn't said anything Qrow already has an idea and how Ironwood must be currently feeling. Only one way to find out.

It seems like this war with Salem wasn't planning to end any time soon. They secure all the relics, she won't stop until she has them in her possession. Now they were heading to where the Staff of Creation is at the Vault in Atlas Academy and hopefully the General has secured the Winter Maiden. It was all right Velvet knew the kind of person Ironwood is so the relic and the maiden are both in safe hands. Which lead to the big question, will Salem come here. Beacon and Haven were off her list leaving the school of Atlas and Shade in Vacuo remaining. It didn't matter who will be next, they all needed to be prepare. Inevitable fighting is bound to happen like an announced storm that is considered deadly.

For all she knew, they could be here already. Those that work for Salem. Emerald, Mercury, Hazel, that man called Watts. There was also that faunus that went after Ruby and her brother when they were traveling Anima. If it weren't for Qrow that was keeping an eye on them, they would have been in big trouble. Velvet rubbed her forehead here she was over thinking things and over worrying. She couldn't relax and take a break without looking at the dangers ahead. Her thoughts were on her older sister and Seres and the oath she made to the two. No more being reckless and attempt to push herself that she will die, no selfless sacrifice for everyone and no playing the big hero that is up to her save the whole world.

*Attention guest passengers* Winter spoke through comm device of the bridge.

*We have arrived in Atlas.*

The older Crowe smiled at the announcement, they were finally here. After all the trouble they went through to get here. The fight at the Argus limited train, the farm infested with Apathy and their crazy plan to steal a ship from Cordovin at Argus. Velvet was relief, maybe things will go all right from here on. But she wasn't going to jinx it. They still didn't know what was the current status of the kingdom. Winter wanted Ironwood to explain them the whole situation and she didn't minded. Better to hear it from the General himself. The former teacher and therion went back to the passenger area as something got her attention gazing at one of the windows.

The sight of so many Altesian battle fleets all over the dark sky accompanied by the aurora and smaller ships flying around. They were all in attack formation it's like they were ready for an invasion. An attack from Salem to be precise so Velvet didn't blame Ironwood for acting this way. Unfortunately this wasn't going to be a pretty sight for the citizens. Seeing the whole military stationed they will know something was really wrong. They might worried or panicked, leading for Grimm to show up. So much for being discreet.

As the former teacher arrived at the passenger area. Everyone was gazing from the windows as they were able to see Atlas for the very first time. Of course with the exception of Weiss since this is her home. Velvet followed shortly staring from the nearest window. A city floating in the sky and holding it down were huge cables coming from below. There was another city, where the cables were all connected to every part of it. Next to the city in the land there was a big crater. Obviously it's the original spot of the floating city. It was the first time the older Crowe was seeing such a city. Though she was in Atlas once, she didn't got the chance to have a better look. Due that she was in a hurry to leave the last time. Around the two cities the terrain was covered in snow and mountains. The continent of Solitas is known for being the coldest in all of Remnant. Still the long haired woman thought it was beautiful having that unique look.

"I read from Remnant's history that Atlas is being kept floating thanks to gravity dust" said Laphicet.

"It's similar to those floating islands in Lake Matsu" Velvet recalled when she and Weiss were traveling that part of Anima.

"They must be using a lot of it to keep a whole city in the air" followed Ruby.

"I also read that the name Atlas originates from a man who was punished by the Gods and he was condemned by holding the world of Remnant on his arms and shoulders" the younger Crowe kept with the history lesson.

"That sounds cool and painful" said Nora.

"It is only a legend though" followed Ren.

"What about the city below?" asked Yang.

"That's Mantle. It used to be the kingdom's original name of the capital before changing it to Atlas and it eventually became the capital after the Great War. It's also the largest city in Solitus" replied Oscar.

"I bet Ozpin told you that" the Valkyrie gave a smirk.

"He didn't. I had many books back at my home and I read them all" sweat dropped the farmhand.

"Enjoy the view while you still can. Atlas is known for the most advanced city in the four kingdoms when it comes all of the technology breakthrough. The others have nothing on this one. I'm sure you guys already know" said Qrow as he reached for his flask.

The Branwen open the lid before he suddenly stopped. Many thoughts ran in his head. Because he was drinking too much, getting drunk he screw up bad back at that farm. His nieces and everyone could have gotten killed if it weren't for Velvet. He think things through at Argus and decided to take a break from it. Now, he felt like he didn't needed it. Closing the lid he put the flask away as it was noticed by Ruby, Yang and the Crowe siblings. Both sister smiled at his choice, couldn't be more proud of him. The same for Velvet and Laphicet.

*We'll be heading to the military base to change ships. After we'll head to Atlas Academy* spoke the older Schnee.

Maria sighed great, just what she needed. She mainly came here so she could have her mechanical eyes checked like she usually every once in a while year. Instead she will have to wait a whole lot more than usual. Her patience isn't what it used to be during her younger days.

Minutes later they changed ships, taking a smaller one as it passed through the capital of the kingdom. The group was able to take a better look at the floating city that is Atlas. The buildings from a single glance was out of this world. Pretty much they got the idea that it was the most technology advanced kingdom from the rest in Remnant. It was enough hearing Qrow's lecture and they have also learned from gaining the usual knowledge from people and family. Weiss didn't bothered looking from her window nothing was new to her while Velvet was able to recognized some of the city structures since she was here. But she saw it after leaving the hospital with the Schnee heiress. But it didn't bother her to explore both this and Mantle.

The ship landed on the docking bay as everyone left gazing at the building that is Atlas Academy. They saw it in the distance but looking at it closely it seemed like Beacon was bigger. Winter lead everyone to the front gates of the building. Their eyes widened meeting a very elegant hallway. Even Weiss wasn't that surprised because it wasn't the first time she has come to the Huntsman school. This was originally where she wanted to go and train as a Huntress. But realizing she will still be here, in that manor, with her father like a caged bird. The white haired woman went to the reception desk as the female receptionist smiled at her, telling her something. The Schnee Operative signaled them to head for the elevator. Their destination, the headmaster's office.

Maria decided not to go. She didn't wanted to take the elevator, too many people and it didn't mattered if there was enough space. The old woman just wanted to have her eyes checked already. The former Huntress will wait here until they were done as she got seated on a nice comfy bench near the reception desk. The others didn't minded, they can fill her in after talking to the General. They have entered the elevator as Winter pressed the button for the top floor. The ride was quiet as no one said a word, guess they were anxious. Finally they will get answers to what's the status of the kingdom. They haven't forgotten the dust embargo was still in effect, the kingdom borders were still closed no air transportation could get in or out unless if there were ships from the military.

Ruby did her best to remain calm, guess this whole place was so new to her. First time in Atlas and she was close to have a nervous breakdown. The silver eyed petite still has the lamp of knowledge as it was strapped behind her. It wasn't safe to be carrying it out around. People who know anything unless those are aligned with Salem or Ozpin. But the relic was still dangerous remembering that they can attract Grimm. Meaning they couldn't stay in one place for too long. That's why as long as it was under their possession, it will get dangerous. A hand on her shoulder made her gaze at Velvet who assured her with a smile. The older Crowe was confident everything will go well believing in Ironwood.

"I wonder if things are okay here" thought Oscar.

("We will find out soon enough. Try to remain calm. I know James have done his best to look after Atlas and Mantle on his own.")

The bell of the elevator was finally heard as the double doors slide opened. Winter was the first to leave taking the lead once more. The group was walking a straight corridor reaching double doors at the end. They slid opened as the white haired women resumed walking and the rest followed shortly. Velvet gazed around, the office didn't had gear above and below like Ozpin's. It was circular with the middle of the ground stood the emblem of Atlas, a staff in the middle of a circle. The older Crowe realized now that was the relic of Creation fitting to be the emblem of the kingdom. The desk and the chair were nothing special and the glass window was really something. There stood a man gazing from it having the best view of the whole city.

Ironwood looked a bit different from the last time Velvet has seen him. He had a black beard wearing a similar attire to his previous military one. It was still white with some red and blue. But it was enough to give anyone the idea of his rank. The man has noticed their presence in his office as he turned to the group. Velvet and the rest saw his face, he looked exhausted. Like he hasn't gotten any rest in a while. Weiss was also surprised, he was looking more tired and stressed from the last time she saw him at the Beacon charity party. His expression changed as soon as his eyes laid on them. A smile spread his features while Winter walked over next to him. It was clear he was happy to see them again after a long time.

"Welcome. It is so good to see you all."

"It has been a while. That's for sure" replied Qrow.

"Only a few months for me and Weiss before running off" added the older Crowe.

"Velvet!" Laphicet gasped at his sister.

"It's all right. Though I understand why she chose to leave the hospital under the circumstances, it was still wrong to do. However, neither of you had bad intentions for doing what you did. Be lucky one of you is considered a hero by the people of Vale. Otherwise, you would have been sent straight to Atlas Penitentiary" his eyes went to the long haired woman.

"We did committed a crime after all" the former teacher didn't had a problem since they already added two crimes to the list.

"It was my plan to begin with. I'm the only one to blame" followed the former Schnee heiress.

Winter frowned at her sister. Yeah, great attitude to show to the General. She will be hearing from her later. But it will be rather hypocritical of her because she KNEW Weiss would be leaving Atlas with Velvet, escaping their father's wrath and she didn't told a word to her superior.

"When I got Qrow's letter, I was overjoyed to know the situation at Haven was handled better than how it was handled at Beacon. Pretty clear you were all prepared this time and knew the worse was bound to come. Though, it saddens me what happened to Leonardo Lionheart. He was a good man with some flaws and it was those flaws Salem took advantage of to lure him to her side. I'm not pleased to know I have lost allies I can trust in this war."

"We have some important matters to discuss" spoke the Branwen.

"Yes. That is the sole reason you're here. I see the lamp of Knowledge is in your possession after successfully defending Haven that's good. We must keep the relics safe from Salem's reach."

"We already asked Jinn one question. She can still answer one more" replied the older Crowe.

"I see. Ozpin told me how it works. After all three questions are answered it won't be able to answer any more for one hundred years. It is a very long time to wait."

"Not surprised Winter isn't…." started the scythe master.

"I was surprised when she told me she already knew of Salem, the relics and the maidens. That left me with telling Penny and the Ace Ops too. With Ozpin gone I need my own team of people I can trust. It was a bigger surprise to know it was Velvet who told her."

Ruby reacted hearing her robotic friend's name, it's been so long since she hasn't seen her. Though she had no idea who were these Ace Ops.

"It was the right thing to do at the time. Having more trusted allies to know makes it better to fight what we're up against" replied the former therion.

"True, I agree. I apologized for not telling her but I was simply carrying out Ozpin's request. He didn't wanted anyone else to know the truth. Because such revelation will out all of Remnant in big risk."

Oscar stood in thought. If people knew, it could result in complete chaos. The negative emotions will be out of control and Grimm will come in massive numbers.

"Since we have that out of the way. Tell me, what can I do for you?"

"General Ironwood, sir. We want...No, we must know the situation with Atlas and Mantle. We know of the embargo and the closing of the border. We think it could be bad and…." Ruby spoke.

"We want to know if everything's good in the kingdom. I think we have a right to know" Velvet turned to the petite with a smile.

Winter turned to her superior as he stood silent. The rest present in his office were waiting for his answers. Seriously they really needed to hear some good news because if they don't. It might be easier for Salem to attack this kingdom without putting any effort. It might even end up like Beacon or even worse.

"Until now, I believe it was impossible to truly turn the tide against Salem. Oz has pushed her back. Has kept victory out of her claws but she will keep returning. Stronger and stronger. Unless we destroy her."

"What about the Atlas relic?" asked the red cloak girl.

"You mean the Staff of Creation? It's safe inside the Vault."

"And the Winter Maiden?" added Qrow.

"She is secure and in stable condition" replied Winter.

"Stable condition, what does that-" started Yang.

"She's uh, not exactly a spring chicken" replied her uncle.

"I know how this all looks. Recalling my military, the embargo? I probably don't see the most trustworthy right now."

"Then why continue it?" asked Blake.

"Is it really that bad in Mantle?" followed Nora.

"It's the last place you would want to go if you're looking for comfort. I did all of this to make sure Salem doesn't infiltrate Atlas. And I wanted my military here. Protecting my people."

"Is it really protecting them?" said Velvet getting their attention.

"The entire military keeping an eye on them while there's an embargo that prevents anyone from distributing dust to the other kingdoms. People might have lost their jobs since I'm sure many must work for the SDC, unable to provide money and not being able to provide for their families, ending in losing their homes. The borders are closed, they will think you're keeping them here like they were prisoners. They won't be happy, they will held you responsible, they will fear you and they will hate you. Because of it there will be a lot of commotion. Anger, fear, anguish. I'm going to take a guess Mantle must be a magnet for Grimm considering the swirl of negative emotions it must be generating. I'm surprised nothing bad has happened to Atlas yet. If that's what you're doing James, you're not doing a very good job."

"That is not way to talk to the Ge-" Winter has gotten angry at the older Crowe.

"It's all right" he stopped her as the older Schnee kept her composure.

"It really is good to see you again Velvet. One with enough common sense to tell the truth of things."

"I'll take that as a compliment" the long haired woman crossed her arms, ignoring Winter's are you mad look.

"I admit Mantle has seen better days. Everything you've said is true. Ever since the embargo and the closing of borders it hasn't been the same. There are many people that work for the Schnee Dust Company and have been laid off due to lack of capital."

Weiss rolled her eyes she imagined her father's face being so angry for all the lien he was losing. He could care less about how much his company employees must be going through. Winter was also in the same boat.

"Many are barely keeping their homes and families together. They have been barely getting any food. Mantle is suffering and they're not happy. I have done my best sending the supplies but it's not enough."

The group didn't like the sound of that. The answer was so obvious, call off the embargo and open the borders again. Let them resume their work and earning money to keep their families and the roof over their heads.

"I have also sent security due that hostility has increased within the citizens of Mantle as well as constant Grimm attack" Ironwood hasn't forgotten of the discrimination with the faunus. Something that hasn't changed in many years.

Velvet shook her head, so she was right. The treatment they were getting because of the embargo and the closing border the people aren't happy with the military. Riots and Grimm attacks will bring the city to ruins. If this isn't handle, Atlas will shortly follow.

"James. You're not doing much for them or better yet, what of the council? Aren't they backing you up?" said Qrow.

"I have tried to convince them to provide more supplies and possibly, a list of available jobs. Unemployment has increased for months. It's all I can do with the power I have over the council."

"They're not going to do anything. Aren't they?" said Weiss.

"I guess all that matters for them is Atlas and not Mantle" followed Laphicet.

"That's horrible. How can they care about the people here and forget about those that leave down there?" said Nora.

"It's because the people of Atlas are the high class of the kingdom. Those that have money and power while the ones from the Mantle are considered the middle and lower classes. And we already know how they feel for them" the former heiress was so angry thinking her father was one of those that hated the poor and even faunus.

And she wasn't the only one as Winter has tightened her fists also thinking of her old man.

"Looks like things here are worse than we thought" said Cardin.

"I only control the military, this school and the two seats. My voice against the council's isn't enough. Their priorities are straight in only aiding Atlas."

"There has to be something we can do" said Blake.

"There is. Once my plan has been fulfilled I will make sure the council obeys in helping the people of Mantle."

"Plan?" said Ruby.

"Yes."

The General has pressed a button from his desk in the holographic keyboard. The shades were activated covering the window as it grew dark.

"Just as you all have been entrusted with the knowledge of Salem's existence, I need you all to trust me."

From the middle of the office a platform was raised as the group kept a distance.

"Ozpin believed the best way to fight Salem was to do in secret. Whether that was the right choice or not isn't for me to say. But we find ourselves in the position of needing, well, a new approach."

"And what do you suggest?" said the Branwen.

The platform was raised until forming into a table. Ironwood pressed a button from a small device as something appeared as a hologram in the middle of the tech table. A very familiar sight for everyone.

"That's Amity Colosseum" said Jaune.

"Where the Vytal Festival is held?" followed Oscar.

"Indeed. After it crashed, we managed to rebuilt it and it was no easy task. Though the CCT remains standing I feel the current system is outdated. Amity was built to bring the nations together. And it will serve that purpose once again."

He pressed the same button from the device as a tower has now appeared at the top of the holographic tower. Everyone kept staring as so far they didn't had a problem with his plan. But they needed to hear everything before telling him everything.

"I will establish a communication tower on top of Amity Colosseum. With it, it will increase global communications."

"By launching the tower high into the atmosphere, our scientists believe we can create a sort-of satellite out of reach of the Grimm, and capable of maintaining global even if we were to lose a tower."

"That is great" said Ruby staring at the hologram.

"James, you don't need the entire military for this" said Qrow.

"I will for the next part. Where I finally tell the people about Salem."

That's when everyone didn't felt comfortable. So he was planning to reveal to Remnant who Salem is. Velvet didn't like it one bit because it's such a great risk. It wasn't good it will only make things worse for them.

"Huh, so that's why you withdraw your troops, to handle the panic that will break out in Atlas" said the scythe master.

"Yes, panic is inevitable. And panic brings Grimm. But I believe we are ready. Once Atlas has come to grips with the fight ahead, I'll use Amity tower to spread the message to all of Remnant.

"But everything will feel apart! Grimm will be everywhere!" said the worried Weiss.

"You're right, but Atlas is willing and prepared to assist" replied Winter.

"Trying to hide the truth from the world will eventually kill us all."

Ironwood pressed the same button as the hologram vanished and the tech table went back to the ground the shades were released showing the some light shinning through the window. The emblem Atlas was back. The group were still concerned and in thought at what they just heard.

"Oz spent his whole life, many lives, keeping this secret" said the Branwen.

"I know. But since Beacon, things have changed. Without him here to guide us, all I can do is use my judgment."

Oscar stood in thought waiting for Ozpin to reply to him. But received none. Maybe the former headmaster was thinking things through. He better get an answer because he was sure the others will tell him that he has reincarnated and he's his new host.

"I agree."

The group turned to Velvet the former teacher and therion was in deep thought until now. She thought long and hard hearing the General's plan. The older Crowe knew what to do.

"I do believe fighting Salem in secrecy is a waste of time and its impossible. Keeping people in the dark isn't the answer and it will only put them in greater danger. It's crazy but it's even crazier telling the whole world about her. Have you thought how they're all going to take it? Of course they're going to panic and so many Grimm will be coming. But this isn't just in Atlas, but in Vale, Vacuo, Mistral, everywhere! You're being arrogant James, it's impossible for your military to handle so many enemies."

"We were able to reclaimed Beacon and Vale" insisted the General.

"Against how many Grimm, hundreds? If you thought the Fall of Beacon was bad you haven't seen nothing yet. We're talking thousands, maybe millions or more. Have you forgotten about the creatures from my world? The ones Salem recreated turning them into Grimm versions? The ones who are also stronger than any regular Grimm and immune to dust. The code red ones and the therion types, who knows how many other creatures she has recreated. I don't care how strong is the Atlas military but against a whole legion of them, you stand no chance."

"Velvet that's enough-" started Winter.

"No, someone has to tell him he is making a big mistake. This plan of yours is going to backfire in a very bad way. And then, you'll have no one to blame but yourself after so many people have been killed."

"But you agree that the world should know about her?"

"Yes I do but NOT like this! All of Remnant, its crazy. If you want to let them know of Salem's existence we should do it right. Telling one kingdom at a time to decrease the panic rate and Grimm attacks. We should start with Atlas. It's my opinion."

Everyone stood in thought as the tension that was growing seem to have died down. The older Crowe's suggestion wasn't a bad one as Ironwood really looked like he was thinking about it.

("Let me talk to him.")

Oscar was taken back not expecting Ozpin to interfered. Guess he has heard about enough. James has revealed his plan and the former headmaster probably didn't like it. He could be taking Velvet's side. The General noticed the boy with the group, he has never seen seen him before being a new addition. He seems to be young like Ruby and Laphicet or maybe younger. Age didn't matter when they were Huntsman and Huntresses fighting for the fate of the world.

"What is it?"

"I-Uh...He wants to talk to you."

The General stood confused, who wanted to talk to him. The others on the other hand, knew what the farm boy meant. So the former headmaster decided to emerged after all. Velvet was curious to know expecting he was going to remain silent, she was wrong. Laphicet was also in the same boat but he was glad. Ozpin is the only one who can actually get through Ironwood right now. His plan isn't the smartest one and he does agreed with his older sister that they should tell kingdoms one by one instead of telling them as a whole.

"I see. Go ahead. Let him take over" spoke Qrow.

There was a short second as the former headmaster has took control of the youth. Though he promised to give Oscar more control of his body he will ask him permission before interfering. Ironwood will probably not listen to any of them, maybe Velvet. But it was still hard to tell. Maybe he will listen to him it was worth the shot. And there was also the fact that he was planning in telling him the truth of Salem. No more keeping secrets, that's his resolve. Also he doubted the others will keep it a secret from the General. Not unless they want to make it worse for them and he doubted that's what they want. Jame didn't know what just happened as the boy had this different appearance in his face. It was a more mature one.

("It's been a while James.")

The General and Winter gasped in shock, his voice was no longer the same as the teen. It sounded different and very familiar for the man before him.

"Oz...You…."

("Yes. I have reincarnated, sooner than expected. Oscar here is my new host.")

Ironwood walked over to the possessed youth kneeling. Relief washing over his exhausted features.

"I'm so glad you're here! I could really need your help right about now. What do you think about my plan?"

("I'm sure you could use some help. Before I can give my opinion of it, there is something very important you must know.")

Everyone already had the idea. He was going to tell him about Salem's immortality. Things are bound to get really bad since they didn't took it well the first time. Team RWBY, JNR, Cardin and Qrow were very upset with Ozpin for keeping a big secret from them. Ironwood will obviously take it the same way. The man was tired, they could see it and his plan was downright insane. Everything he was doing to help Mantle was falling apart because the council only has interest for Atlas over the city below. James gave his complete attention to the man, the same as Winter. This piece of information could be important. Neither didn't know how right they are.

("I told you everything you needed to know because you're one of the people I trust and look up to. It was your sense of duty and courage that made my decision in letting you into my group. However...I left out some information you all needed to know. Glynda, Qrow and you. Forgive me James but Salem can't be stopped.")

The General was confused along with the Schnee Specialist.

("What I mean is she can't be killed. She's immortal.")

"Immortal?" his eyes widened.

("The Gods gave her immortality as punishment. She refused to accept Osma's death and the brothers wanted her to learn how important life and death is. A lesson, she hasn't learned till this day I'm afraid.")

Velvet glared. Every time she heard it, it angers her. She didn't learned the important lesson just she can manipulate and use people to do her bidding because their hearts are weak. And it hasn't changed ever since. Lionheart being his latest victim. The faunus headmaster feared her and obeyed her orders until he was no longer useful to her. Once he served his purpose she killed him without a thought, no regret whatsoever.

("I'm sorry James for hiding this from you. I really am. I know I shouldn't have, after so long. All of you had a right to know. I was...Afraid.")

Ironwood has gotten up in shock, taking a few steps back. Winter went to him shocked too. The rest of the group knew this wasn't good. They were waiting for the worse. His face was clearly that he wasn't expecting this. Then, his eyes narrowed as anger rose within him. Just as they were expecting. Maybe telling him the truth was a mistake.

"Is this true?" asked Winter.

"It's true. We weren't happy about it at first trust me. But I learn we can't just throw in the towel. It will be pointless" said Qrow.

("James?") started Ozpin.

"This is why you never did anything. It makes perfect sense now. You always stood in your school without making a move. Whenever I will asked you if you have any plans for attacking her head on, you will bring the we must be cautious and patient excuse. You never bother with a full scale attack because you knew there is no point. Fighting her is pointless because she can't be killed. It's all for nothing, in the end she's the one who wins."

("It is true, I didn't had a plan against her. But we must not let her get the relics for whatever reason she's after them.")

"So you don't even know what she wants with them? I'm not surprised. To think I used to look up highly at you as the one who will have all the answers. You let terrorists infiltrate your school and have their way without being vigilant. Velvet was the only one who did all the work. Your carelessness resulted in the Fall of Beacon and Vale being overrun by Grimm, and it was me and my military who took them back no thanks to you. I won't be needing your advice anymore Oz. Because you have nothing to offer. I don't need you, not anymore."

Those words crushed the former headmaster as he lowered his gaze. Without a word he went back in and let Oscar gain back control of his body. The farmhand looked back at the group in shock. Ironwood didn't care as he walked over to his window. Everyone was on edge, even Winter. She hasn't seen the General this riled up since they retreated after the Fall of Beacon.

"I suppose I should thank him. This revelation has really opened my eyes. I refuse to believe Salem can't be stopped and any fight with her will be meaningless. My plan is the only thing that can save Remnant. All there is left to do is to speed up the construction of the Amity communication tower. Time is of the essence to spread the word."

"You do that, you will be sending the world to its doom. I told you telling everyone of Salem will result in so much panic the number of Grimm will be limitless! You'll be destroying Remnant instead of saving it!" Velvet was livid.

"Then maybe you can help me. If my plan isn't good enough I'm willing to listen to what you have to say. I can no longer trust Ozpin but you, it's clear you're not giving up. You want to fight as much as anyone."

"Not just me, but so is everyone else. Everyone in this room chose to follow Ozpin even when finding out the truth. No matter how big are his mistakes, he wants to make the right thing. He hasn't given up on humanity, he's nothing like the Gods."

"You still willing to trust him?"

"He's been through enough crap already. Cut him some slack. For many years he's been nothing but a pawn to the Gods to unite humanity. The one who gets to fix their mess. He has done nothing wrong except believe that his former lover was still the same person from when he first met her. Cliche and naive I know, but at the same time he believed he was able to do something for the world. Since when it's wrong to do the right thing? We have all done our mistakes and screw up, our bad choices he's no different. But he's not giving up either. We should be following his example."

"Not me. You're right, we have all done our mistakes. It is what makes us human. I have made mistakes too but I won't regret breaking my ties with him. If you have a plan Velvet I'm willing to listen. Otherwise, I'll be resuming my plan."

The tension around her students and friends was getting stronger. It was hard to trust Ironwood after he changed. Finding out about Salem's immortality has really changed him for the worse. It was hard to tell he was an ally when he seems to be the opposite. The older Crowe thought things through. The communication tower wasn't a bad idea except if use to tell the four kingdoms of Salem. The main problem being what Mantle is currently facing. She kept herself calm down because the situation wasn't that bad. Ironwood may not trust Ozpin but he trusts her instead and that was good. She can still turns his crazy plan around for the better. She noticed her brother, Ruby, Jaune and the others staring at her with some hope.

"I do have a plan. First thing lift the embargo and open the borders, have the SDC hire the employees they had to laid off, if they don't want to return then convince the council to give more jobs to the people of Mantle."

"That is demanding and not easy. We'll be exposing ourselves if Salem does come. The kingdom will be open for an attack" the General stood in thought.

"She will find a way to infiltrate this place one way or the other. She did it with Beacon and Haven. Her people will still come no matter if the borders are closed and an embargo. Atlas is most likely the next target on her list we're that sure of it."

"Agreed. I am expecting she will make a move on Atlas any day hence why I have prepared under such conditions. As for the jobs I am sure they can reconsider though I'm not sure if the SDC would hire back their employees"

There was also the Atlas superiority complex with Mantle. They care little less about it seeing the city as inferior compare to themselves. At least the high class, there were members of the council who are unbiased and didn't care about it. While there were those that could care less about them. The floating city is all that matters to them.

"I'm sure he will hire them back without a second thought. I'm not certain if those employees would want to return though" said Winter knowing her father will do anything to reclaim all of that lien he has lost.

"Definitely" Weiss agreed with her older sister.

Both sisters also knew how strong the discrimination for the faunus is in this part of Remnant too including their old man. They wouldn't want to return to their old job even unless they get a good raise. Neither of them were involved with the dust company but they knew of it's "activities" aren't for the better.

"The building of the Amity communication tower should resume as you instructed. Like I said we should focus telling one kingdom at a time of Salem. We will start with Atlas or more precise, start with telling the council."

"What?" this really caught the General off guard.

"Telling those that hold the power over the kingdom should know first of this threat."

"I don't think that would be a wise choice…."

"Getting second thoughts?" Velvet raised an eyebrow.

"Seriously? You made your point wanting to tell the world of Salem earlier. Now you want to back down?" said Nora not happy.

"It won't be easy. They will obviously deny it before they will succumb to fear. It will be easier to use the communication tower to tell the four kingdoms than the council itself" the General rubbed his forehead.

"Still, it's worth to try. Atlas must know of the threat that is Salem. If we can't tell the truth to one kingdom what will be the chances of convincing the others? I'll see what I can do."

"That seems to cover everything that needs to be discussed. Or is there more?" said Qrow.

"There is one more thing. Earlier you said Mantle is being constantly attacked by Grimm. Shouldn't they have some wall to protect the city?" said the older Crowe.

"There is a wall. Unfortunately it's not strong enough to handle their attacks and they've managed to make a big hole allowing them to enter the city. Not to mention there isn't security on watch by the wall to take out any flying Grimm in the vicinity."

"The council will build the wall, right?" asked Laphicet.

"That is...A complicated matter. All our resources are going to the communication tower. And they already approved of the plan. The tower is only in it's final stages. And there is also that rebuilding Amity Colosseum cost quite the amount of capital which is why resources has been very limited."

"Convince them to try and save resources to build a better wall. I don't care about rich or poor the people of Mantle are part of this kingdom too. It's not just Atlas. When Salem comes, we're going to protect everyone not just the self privilege. We must work together if we want to stand a chance against her" now Velvet understood why they barely have anything to give to Mantle, food, money as well as resource to fortify their wall.

The General gave a nod as signs of exhaustion were pretty clear. This coming weeks are going to be more busy than usual as if worrying of Salem and the communication tower isn't enough. The Staff of Creation and the Winter Maiden was the least of his problems.

"Be ready for anything just in case I contact you. Something tells me I will be needing your help more than you think."

"General Ironwood?" Yang approached him as she touched her mechanical arm" I want to say thanks. My dad said you were the one that had this arm be sent to our home."

"I did gave the order to have it built and be sent to Patch it's the least I can do. I hope you give your thanks to Pietro too, who made it. I would like for all of you to spend the night here when you're tire. This school is your home. You will also be kept fed. We can't let the guests go hungry."

A beep coming from Ironwood's desk caught their attention as the man went to the holographic keyboard as the picture of the desk receptionist was shown.

"Yes?"

*Sir. I-*

*Excuse me but can you tell them to hurry up already?! I would like to finally have my eyes check sometime this year!*

Everyone sweat dropped at Maria's comment. Of course the old woman would be complaining by now. This meeting has sure taken a lot of their time so it shouldn't come to a surprise.

*This elderly woman has been insisting that she needs to go to Mantle.*

"That's all right. We're done. I'll contact you when something's up. I have a feeling I will be relying on all of you from now on."

"Would you'd be so kind to give us a ride there if it's not too much to ask sir?" said Laphicet.

"Of course. Winter please give them a lift."

"Yes sir."

"General Ironwood, sir?" spoke Ruby" do you know where Penny could be?"

"She's patrolling the Mantle perimeter. You might run into her on your way there" a smile spread his features.

"Oh thanks!"

The group were ready to leave. Oscar noticed the General staring at him making him feel nervous. Guess he will be upset with him or the person he's sharing his body and soul. Velvet has suddenly as the others were almost out of the office. They went to a rough start and she didn't blamed the Ironwood for the way he reacted after learning the truth of Salem being immortal. But just staring at him from a simple glance the man was obviously exhausted. It reminded her when she saw Goodwitch talking in that news broadcast. Stress must have hit him dealing with everything that has happened since returning from Vale.

"James…."

The man turned to her as there was a short silence between them.

"We can't be enemies. Fighting among us is the last thing we should be doing. If we do, Salem wins. She wants us to be divided. Humanity divided will make her job a whole lot easier. We can't let her win no matter what."

She finally left not wanting to bring Ozpin knowing it would be pointless to change his mind. The General and headmaster finally got seated on his desk. Giving a sigh leaning on his chair.

They walked the hallway heading to the elevators as Velvet catch up to them. Winter was next to her. The white haired woman's expression was one of concern and frustration. The former therion had a good feeling why she was like this. Ironwood is her superior and she has a right to worry for his well being.

"What was the last time he has gotten any rest?"

"A while. And don't get me started on when he eats" yup she wasn't happy.

Well she knew that was going to be the case.

Winter landed the ship in the military's docking bay. The group bid her farewell as Maria lead the way. The old woman knew where to go though, it was a little far from where they are. A little walking won't kill anyone. The older Schnee couldn't stay since she was needed. Her job will never end as she took off on the ship returning to Atlas. Weiss was happy to see her sister was all right and hope it won't take that long to meet up with her again. Taking a corner, the gang were now in the streets of Mantle. The buildings were dark and somehow, depressing. The whole setting, the streets and everything also has the same description. Or maybe it's because it was dark that it was depressing.

The first thing they noticed was the amount of security. Drones, robotic soldiers and even humans were patrolling the streets. And pretty clear the people present didn't like it so much. Talk about going overboard but they understood it was necessary because the city is suppose to be under Grimm attack frequently. The people were suddenly staring at them, every single one that was walking the sidewalk had their eyes on them. They were new here but it didn't meant they should be stared like they were public enemy number one. It didn't took the group long to realized they were staring at the white haired girl with them. Weiss noticed as they were whispering to others, murmuring pretty obvious they figured out she's a Schnee.

Not the best time to come to Mantle when so many SDC workers from the city were laid off by her father. They didn't had a job anymore and they weren't making money, unable to sustain their homes and families all because of the embargo. This was just perfect, the embargo screws her father's company and now his former workers will try to screw her over. More like glaring, shouting insults and even attempt to attack her. Though the last was impossible they won't try to do such with so many people around her. And they're all very experienced as Huntsman and Huntresses along with a professional and a former teacher. Maybe they will stop if she ignores them and they keep going. Boy she was wrong.

"Come on now, hurry! It shouldn't be much of a walk" Maria was sure in a hurry.

"The people sure seem livelier" Velvet like some sarcasm will light things up.

"Better be on our guard just in case" replied Jaune.

"Security is sure tighter than we thought" said Qrow.

"If Grimm will pop up any second, it shouldn't come as a surprise" replied the older Crowe

"Are those fans of yours?" followed Cardin to the former heiress.

"More like people who used to work for the SDC and no longer have their jobs" the white haired girl gave a soft sigh.

"When people are angry they would want to vent off their anger on someone" said Ren.

"And who's a better target then a member of the Schnee family?" followed Nora.

"It's not right. They shouldn't vent their anger on someone in the first place specially when that person has nothing to do with the issue. Weiss has nothing to do with her dad's company, she's not even the heiress anymore" Ruby's eyes widened as everyone sweat dropped at her last comment.

"Uh-I mean! It's a good thing you're no longer the heiress, no wait-I mean it's a bad thing but it's a good thing because it's a bad thing-"

"I get it you dolt, just stop beating around the bush" the white haired girl rolled while smiling.

"The people don't look happy. They're depressed like the appearance of the city" said Laphicet.

"You have to remember. The Kingdom had just lost the Great War. The people of Mantle needed a sign of a brighter future. And that sign was Atlas" said Maria.

"After all, a home in the clouds is about as bright as it gets" resumed the former huntress.

Yang was glaring at one of the security drones that was still staring at her through its camera lens. It even took a picture as the flash emerged from the lens. That was enough as the blond brawler going to take as she was about to kick that pile of junk to next day. Until Cardin stopped her, dragging her away from the drone. He Winchester sweat dropped this girl's temper hasn't changed and neither is her patience. They weren't suppose to bring a bad reputation not when they just met with the General.

As they reached a corner the traffic light turned red as a passenger truck passed them. Their eyes widened as they saw dead people all were faunus, on board as their faces were so dirty. Weiss knew those were employees of the SDC that work in the dust mines. Only faunus were the only ones allow to work there and she has heard some rumors about how they're treated. Long working hours, barely any breaks or food and she hated the fact that she couldn't do a damn thing about it. As the truck left the sirens of ambulances were heard as a couple passed them by in a hurry.

"Unless you're the one having to look at it" said Nora regarding Maria's comment.

"This whole city, it just seems awful" said Blake.

"Yeah?"

Some guy has suddenly emerged from a house. He has come from a gutter probably. With short brown hair, dark eyes with glasses wearing a long sleeve gray jacket, olive green cargo pants and black boots. His expression and his body language was bit off. He was holding a flask similar to the one Qrow has and that gave everyone the conclusion he was drunk.

"You don't like it here? There's plenty of space out in the tundra."

"Sorry, I didn't mean to-" started the raven haired girl.

"Atlas is the greatest kingdom in the world, all right?"

"Hey-" started Ruby.

"We can't cause a scene" spoke the cat faunus stopping the silver eyed leader.

"The embargo's got us in a rough patch, but it'll blow over, you'll see" said another man from the porch of the near house, he didn't sounded drunk like the other one.

"We try and help the other kingdoms, and this is what happens?" resumed the drunk man.

"I say let 'em rot!"

"I apologize. I didn't mean to insult you" spoke the amber eyed girl.

He spit in return" stupid faunus like you would under-"

"We don't want trouble" said Velvet keeping her anger in check, hating his hateful comment towards her faunus student.

"Uhuh. Hey, wait a minute" the man's eyes were on the white haired girl of the group.

"You...You're a...Schnee, right? Holy crap a Schnee is here, in Mantle" he started laughing.

"What of it?" asked Laphicet.

"What of it? Must be the first time one of those high and mighty bastards would come to a run down place like this one. At least, that's what you're family would say. Just like all high class stuck up assholes. Mantle is too good for them, coming here will ruin their popularity and credibility as valuable citizens of Atlas. You would rather cut your own body part than come here. So why would you be-"

"How about another drink, on us?" the older Crowe has taken Qrow's flask and handed to him.

"The good stuff…." he smiled having another flask to accompany him.

"You can take it. As long as you keep quiet about my Schnee friend."

"Oh I will! But I doubt the rest won't notice her right away. Better keep an eye on her if I were you. There are a lot of folks who currently have a grudge with the Schnees."

"We already noticed" said Jaune.

The drunk finally took off singing happily for having two flasks. He will spend the rest of the evening as a happy man.

"If you hadn't interfered, I would have thrown him into that trash bin" spoke the former heiress keeping her anger in check.

"I know but, we're not here to cause trouble."

"There it goes" Qrow wasn't sorry he lost his flask not he will be drinking ever again.

"I can't believe I used to be like him" Cardin was staring at the retreating drunk.

"You're not alcoholic" defended Yang.

"You know what I mean. I used to hate faunus that way. It sickens me to see people like that now."

"You're not like that anymore." The brawler friendly elbowed him.

The group passed through a few blocks reaching a building with a green door. Something on the wall caught Velvet's attention a couple of fliers with the same face of a person in all of them. A young woman with tanned, violet eyes and light blond hair. The words" Protect Mantle" were written in white. Protect above the woman's face and Mantle below. The green door opened revealing a female bear faunus with a mechanical left arm. It looked like a cheaper version from the one Yang has on. The faunus was very happy waving at the person inside leaving. Maria smiled as she went inside.

"Ah, it's good to see you again, old friend."

They entered the place looking like a workshop with books and all kinds of devices. There was someone seated on a desk as a stack of papers were covering his face. The person got up as he was staring at Maria. It was an elderly man with dark skin and short, balding white hair and brown eyes. Wearing a green cap with oval-shapped glasses. A red vest over a cream shirt with a pink bowtie. Dark mustard pants and leather boots match with his cap and red-brown belt. He put the stack of papers aside as he smiled at the old woman before him.

"Ah, yes, yes" he adjusted his small glasses.

"Have we met?"

The group sweat dropped, seriously.

"Well, this is off to a fantastic start" yes Ren was being sarcastic.

"Cybernetic optical implants" she reminded him pointing to the device acting as her eyes.

The man looked clueless as everyone sweat dropped again. So his memory is bad.

"You adjust them. Every ten years or so?"

And he kept staring at her before it hit him" Maria!"

The man has left the desk as everyone saw that he was on a mechanical chair that has four legs colored white, green with yellow accents.

"Yes, with the cybernetic optical implants them every ten years or so."

That's exactly what she told him.

"Doc, it's been a while" said the tall teen."

"Who are you?" the handicapped man didn't had a clue.

"You got to be kidding. It's me, Cardin Winchester? The guy that lost an eye and a leg and you made implants for me?"

"Winchester? Sounds familiar um...Oh yes! Of course Cardin my boy how are you doing? Are you having any trouble with the implants?"

"No. Both are working perfectly thanks again. And her implant is working perfect too."

The dark skinned smiled seeing one of his latest works being wore by the blond girl with lilac eyes.

"Glad to know it's working properly."

"You're the guy that made it?" said the surprised Yang.

"That's right. The latest prototype of it's kind using the most expensive materials in Atlas. First one I made so it's that special."

"I didn't know" the brawler was in awe.

"James wanted me to make you a real replacement for your missing arm and that's what I did. How is it working?"

"It's amazing I like it a lot. Thanks so much" the brawler felt like crying.

"Glad to hear it."

"Everyone meet one of Atlas' finest minds Pietro" introduced Maria.

That was hard to believe looking at the kind of place he's living in. This look like it was ready to crumble any minute. If he was such a fine mind he would be living in a better place. Or he should be in Atlas with the high class. The man noticed their expression as he chuckled.

"I know what you're thinking but I prefer being here. It's better to fit in with the locals than being high in the clouds. Besides I can work on other projects without the council telling me what to do. They understand when a man needs his space. Though with everything that has happened since the Fall of Beacon that is no longer the case."

"General Ironwood already explained the situation" spoke Ruby still trying to swallow everything he said.

"I'm glad to finally meet Team RWBY. My daughter has talked so much about you. It is an honor."

"Daughter?" blinked the red cloak leader.

"It's nice to meet you Pietro" spoke Velvet.

"Velvet Crowe. The Legendary Huntress it is also an honor to meet you as well. Your match at the Vytal Festival is one to remember. Though I also enjoyed Team RWBY's match."

The sound of an alarm was heard through all of the city as the group gasped.

"What's going on?" asked Jaune.

"Let's check it out. You two stay here" said the former therion to the old woman and dark skinned man.

As they left the building they saw so many people running for their lives. The Atlas soldiers were helping them calm down, telling them to return to their home and stay here. More soldiers arrived along with a group of robots. They had their weapons hot, releasing the safety. The group got the idea clear that this alarm was an attack warning. Grimm must have crossed over the broken wall. They have drew their weapons more than ready. They were willing to give support to the military. Velvet nodded to some of the soldiers present that they got this. It seems they have lost contact with others so the wave of Grimm might be bigger than they thought. Everyone hoped the people were taken to safety.

(Music: "Daemon's Assault" from the Tales of Berseria original soundtrack)

Both groups stood still waiting for the enemy to comes. They could hear opening fire from far away, they have already made contact. Roaring was also heard definitely not human. So many roars and the sound of fast footsteps made them keep their guard up. They could be coming from any direction or maybe they were spreading out to come at all directions going for the kill. Ruby readied Crescent Rose in firing mode as the others followed. Ren did the same with Storm Flower, Blake with Gambol Shroud, Weiss with Myrtenaster, Qrow with Harbinger, Nora with Manghild and Velvet with Vertex Rose. The roars and footsteps were getting closer as the first wave emerged from the opposite direction. The Atlas soldiers were already opening fire, while the others were supporting them.

The Grimm looked like the ancient creature known as the Sabertooth as read by Laphicet and Oscar. Mainly characterized by it's large and noticeable fangs. It's Grimm version is knows as Sabyr. And boy there were so many of them. A whole pack of these fast and dangerous creatures. The group and the soldiers fired, able to get a direct hit but there were too many of them. Some of them have reached the soldiers as the robotic ones were getting scrapped. Velvet knew this strategy wasn't working because there were more Sabyr than them. So she gave the order to spread out and see if they can separate the pack. They had the entire city to their advantage so might as well use it. So everyone went to different spots.

Jaune, Ren, Nora and Oscar took the east intersection as they were being followed by enough Sabyr. This made them worried as to how the rest of the city must be thinking there were way more of the creatures than they thought. The Valkyrie and the magenta eyed teen fired killing a few but the rest were able to surrounded and overwhelm them. The Arc went with Guardian Field hitting all of the Sabyr that attempted to lunge at them. The farm teen has blocked their claws and fangs with his cane, countering. More Sabyr were lunging as Ren and Nora, went for the attack, slicing and pounding with the blond and farmer hand aiding. Once more the blond leader used Guardian Field to break the sabertooth creatures apart.

"Don't let them get too close!"

The four were now working together attacking every Sabyr that will get close. Slowly decreasing their numbers with Jaune casting his artes. Their claws are sharp enough to probably cut through steet and he didn't wanted to bring those big fangs. Easily they can penetrate human skin and even take a chunk of aura. Not noticing Grimm have been killed by loud explosions, not yet. They kept on fighting until they weren't that many left a pair of long arms have taken one Sabyr before it got crushed by a hammer. One that wasn't the Vakkyrie's. The four were done when there were still of them around. But it looked like they didn't had to fight the remaining Grimm.

Two people were fighting what was left of the pack of Sabyr. At least the ones that were chasing the four. One was a tall man with short shaved gray hair, very pale complexion with light blue eyes. Several tattoos, including a third eye tattoo along the center of his forehead and chin. His attire has a similarity to Winter so this guy must be an Atlas Operative. A white double-breasted, partially unbuttoned coat with a board tail, navy blue accents, collar and shoulder flaps. A red sash running diagonally over his left shoulder meeting a second red sash around his waist under a large blue belt, and navy blue fingerless gloves that go up to his brachium. Navy blue pants tucked into a pair of navy blue thigh-high boots with steel toe and heel plating, a small pouch on the sides and kneepad detailing. For his weapon he had a circular base surrounded by rounded triangular blades.

The second was a tall young muscular woman with medium brown hair in a short ponytail, brown-tan skin, and brown eyes. Her Aletsian Specialist uniform is an open white, one-sleeved crop jacket with dark blue accents, shoulder flaps and collar and a dark gray shirt. Silver vambraces over her forearms, a red belt around her white pants and was barefoot with some martial arts footwraps alongside dark blue calf plates that cover the tops of her feet, the plates have three red straps tied around them. And silver hoop earring on her right ear. Her weapon was a hammer with two rockets on the back.

The four members stood in awe watching the two unknown Atlas officials take out the Sabyr with little effort. Well, they didn't had a problem fighting them but still they would give them credit. Because they weren't breaking a single sweat. Just like that they killed the creatures. The buffed woman dusted herself before hanging her hammer between her shoulders.

"It's not over yet" replied the paled man.

"Yeah. There was quite a pack of them that infiltrated the city."

"Oh my gosh that was SO COOL!" it was Nora's reaction at the two specially seeing the tall buff woman using her weapon.

"We're here to help. We don't mind if you give us a hand" said the tall woman.

They nodded not having a problem with teaming up if they are part of the Atlas Military.

Team RWBY were able to lure in the pack of Sabyr to an open area in the city. Thank goodness they haven't seen any citizens in the streets. Looks like the military did good in evacuating them to their homes until the threat is taken care of. The four girls managed to keep them at bay firing their range weapons even when there were more of them coming. Those that got close enough were sent to the air by Weiss as she used her black glyphs keeping the creature floating, Ruby and Blake teamed up to slice them in half. A few of the sabertooth Grimm were about to attack them from behind but Yang punched and blasted them having their back. One wasn't out yet as it lunge at the brawler only to get shot courtesy of her younger sister.

While they were engaging the Sabyr greatly decreasing their numbers, they could hear explosions and grunt noises coming from the other side of the street. Looks there were more Sabyr than they thought. Just how many of them broke through the wall. Or crossed over knowing the wall in Mantle was breached allowing Grimm to enter as they pleased. Might as well finish the ones they were dealing before deciding to help those that were fighting. Team RWBY got rid of the last of the sabertooth as they went to aid whoever was engaged in combat. Maybe some of their friends that separated to spread the large pack of Sabyr. As they arrived to the street they were wrong, not anyone they know.

Two people were engaging another pack of Sabyr Grimm.

One was a young man with long greenish-black hair and blue eyes. Wearing a double-breasted coat with silver buttons, dark blue accents, collar shoulder flaps with matching cuffs that have two silver buttons. A dark blue belt with a silver buckle around his waist with a dark blue pouch on the right side. A red ascot tied around his neck, a red shirt under his coat, dark blue trousers tucked his black knee-high boots. His weapon was a rifle but he suddenly changed it to a boomerang which he used to take out a Sabyr getting close to him. He followed with throwing hitting a couple as it returned to him. He had a dog tail colored dark and light gray making him a faunus.

The second was young woman with dark skin, platinum blond hair shaved on the sides that resembles a pair of rabbit ears and dark pink eyes. Wearing a sleeveless double-breasted vest with silver buttons and dark blue accents. It has a white and dark-blue chaps. The chap was exposing the inner parts of her thighs and the back of her calves. Blue fingerless gloves and dark gray trainers with black accents and a white stripe accompanied with white socks. White calf pads and dark blue kneed pads. Two dark blue straps fastened around the top of her vest. Her arms were covered by robotic arms, it was obviously her weapon. It definitely got Yang's attention.

There was no need for the team to help them because both seemed to be handling the situation quite well. The dark skinned woman was punching on the creatures at a fast speed. Together they were able to make a pretty good team. They knew they have to be with the military and definitely no amateurs. As they were done taking out the sabertooth Grimm they seem to have lowered their guard, before turning to the four.

"We-" started Ruby.

"We know. You can give us a hand with clearing any Sabyr in the city" said the dark skinned woman.

"R-Right!" the silver eyed leader nodded along her team.

So far Velvet, Laphicet, Cardin and Qrow were cutting through the Sabyr without breaking a sweat. Sure, there were a lot of them but their strength and teamwork was more than enough. They had the perfect plan switching between range and close range attacks. Even if they were winning they were worried. If having Grimm attack was on a daily basis they really needed to do something with that wall. Fix it and upgrade it. Make sure there was security to wipe out any flying types. It was also the fact at how stressed the people were due to living conditions. The embargo and those that work for the SDC, being laid off not earning a salary anymore. It was no wonder why negative emotions were in check.

A hook suddenly grabbed a Sabyr, sending crashing to a car. The four turned to see a young man with short brown hair and tealgreen eyes. Wearing a white sleeveless double-breasted coat with red and blue accents with ornate detailing shaped of the form of wishbones, broad tail with red lining and a four-leaf clover pin on the lapel. On his belt was a rabbit's foot keychain hanging of it. White pants, brown fingerless gloves, blue calf high boots with four dark blue straps and silver toe platting. He was holding a long iron silver fishing pole as he used the handle and length like a staff hitting the other sabertooth Grimm. The others stood in wonder of his weapon of choice. When it was hardly one at all. Then again Ozpin's cane wasn't consider much of a weapon either.

The rest joined him as they were able to killed the remaining creatures in the area.

(Music end)

"Friendly here" said the young man with the fishing pole.

"Yeah, we got the idea you're with the military" replied Qrow.

"Wish we could have met under better circumstances."

*Clover, more Sabyr have entered the city* A female voice spoke on his communicator.

"It won't end. Regroup at the destroyed part of the wall ASAP. Do whatever it takes to keep them from splitting up.

*Roger!*

"Since you're here. Mind giving us a hand?"

"Why not? Sounds like you could need it" said Velvet.

Velvet's group reunited with JNPR and RWBY minutes later with the other Specialists. They have all be ordered to come to where the big hole of the wall stood. When they arrived many Atlas soldiers have already engaged the massive pack of Sabyr. They were still coming, like there was no end to the creatures. The group was aiding the military to dispose of the sabertooth Grimm. Their numbers were still increasing it was crazy. If this keeps up, they might have to call for reinforcements. The group admitted this was one heck of a welcome committee for arriving to Atlas. It's been an eventful evening. A light green ray from above hit a Sabyr as the group had no idea what just happened. Multiple rays were fired as the military and the Specialists were still fighting. The rays resumed firing as it hit every single sabertooth Grimm and they vanished in black smoke.

Thanks to whoever fired those rays the Sabyr were all eliminated. The group still had their weapons drawn just in case any more showed up. A group of soldiers and robot went to patrol outside of the wall for any Grimm. Something came from above landing in rocket thrusters from their boots. They realized it was actually a person landing on its own. This has to be whoever was firing those green rays. Velvet and her group were the only ones staring at who could this person that was flying firing rays could be. While the five Atlas Specialist weren't that far talking to some of the soldiers. The older Crowe was the first to react smiling to mysterious flying person, yeah she knew who she was.

A young girl with long orange hair and curled inwards at the tips wearing a black fabric bow under a pink metal bow that has a golden outlined green orb. An olive green German styled dress with a black hem that is striped with emerald green. The abdominal region is black with four golden buttons with matching buckles on her shoulder straps, an off white blouse with puffy shoulders, frilled flared cuffs and vertical black lining down to the front center. On her collar piece does away with the green accents and is instead finished with a black ribbon. Black metal leg pieces that run up to her thighs, a green stripe that runs down the sides, with a large green circle at the top and a small one at the bottom. Both outlined with a gold and capable of lightning up too.

JNPR was shocked as they recognized the girl that came flying firing deadly green rays. They have seen her and she fought them during the Battle of Beacon over a year ago. Laphicet and Cardin followed recognizing her too. Team RWBY were more shocked specially the red cloak leader. Ruby stood wide eyed as a smile spread her features. After not seeing her robotic friend for so long she has finally reunited with her. True, not in the best circumstance but she will take it any day.

"Penny!"

The orange haired girl turned to whoever was calling her. A very familiar voice she hasn't heard in a quite a while. Turning to see the silver eyed girl in red and black. The first friend she made and accepted her for who she is. And the whole gang was present too.

"RUBY!"

The red reaper ran to her but the orange haired girl beat her to it being faster. She caught the petite giving her a big hug and poor Ruby was trying to breathe. Super robot strength is a real thing. Much to the petite's relief, she let her go as she was gasping for air.

"I'm so happy to see you again!"

"Y-Yeah...Me...Too" the poor girl was still catching her breath.

"Weiss, Yang and Blake too!"

They didn't had time to react as Penny has given the three the same type of hug. They were begging for air. And she break it as the smile never left.

"We're...Happy to see you too Penny" Yang managed to say between breaths.

"Jaune, Ren and Nora!"

Oh boy they didn't saw it coming either getting the big crushing hug from the orange haired girl. But sadly she wasn't done.

"Laphicet and Velvet!"

And she crushed the siblings while they were begging for air.

"I don't know you" she pointed to Qrow and you following it up gazing at Cardin.

"No hug I'm fine" nope the Winchester didn't wanted to end up like the rest.

"I don't know you and you too" the happy girl went to Oscar.

They were lucky.

"It's been so long since I've seen you guys. When General Ironwood said you guys were here I wanted to see you immediately. But unfortunately the Grimm came up and I've been very busy dealing with their attacks in Mantle. It's almost happening everyday."

"You haven't seen me in a few months. You shouldn't missed me that much" said the former therion.

"I still missed you either way. Having my friends from Vale here makes it all better."

"Penny you look so different now" Ruby noticed her attire and hair.

"Like it? My father decided to give me an upgrade if you want to call it that."

"Don't you mean make over?" asked Laphicet with a sweat dropped even if he knew what she was talking about.

"Yes, that!" she felt silly for almost letting it slip.

Ruby just smiled then it hit her she and Velvet were the only ones who knew her secret. That she's a robot when the former teacher signaled her that it was okay. Maybe it was time to let them know. But not right now as she wanted to know more about the Grimm attacks, the giant hole on Mantle's wall and of course the five people that helped them. While Penny was chatting with the silver eyed girl the five Specialist finally approached the group.

"Thanks for the assist. General Ironwood filled us in on you guys. More help is always appreciate it" said the man with the clover pin giving a smile.

"No problem. You guys seemed to had it under control" said Qrow.

"It usually doesn't get that bad. Tonight was an exception" spoke the dog faunus.

"We always have to expect the worse to come. Mantle is right now vulnerable to any outside Grimm attack" said the very pale man.

"The night is still young, who knows" followed the tall muscular woman.

"Let's try to keep it positive not the other way around" said the woman with the shaved hair.

"We're the Ace Operatives, the best Huntsmen and Huntresses Atlas has to offer in the military. This is Marrow, Harriet, Vine, Elm and I'm Clover. I'm in charge of this team."

The group saw as the leader Clover the one with said named pin on him pointed to the members of the Ace Ops. Marrow, the dog faunus, Harriet the dark skinned short woman with the shaved hair that resembles rabbit ears, Vine the tall and quite pale man and Elm the tall and buff woman. Afterwards they made their introductions minus Penny obviously starting with Team RWBY, JPR including Oscar, Cardin and Qrow. Laphicet followed and before his older sister could do introductions, Elm has approached her with shinny eyes.

"Oh my gosh Harriet it's HER!"

The dark skinned woman shook her head as the rest of the Ace Ops looked amused at their team member's reaction.

"Velvet Crowe! It is an honor to finally meet you! I'm a big fan!"

The muscular woman shaking the former teacher's hand so strong, she was basically shaking her like a rag doll. When she said big, she wasn't kidding because Elm was taller than Cardin by a few inches. Talk about a strong and mighty woman. Plus Jaune, Ren, Nora and Oscar saw her fighting and she's a force to be reckon with.

"I saw your match at the Vytal Festival and ever since then I became your fan! So strong and bad ass. Then we saw the footage from the fight in Vale and Beacon. Your speech lifted my spirits and it made me want to fight like I've never done before! You can say you became my inspiration to give it a hundred and fifty percent!"

"Isn't it a hundred and ten percent?" sweat dropped the Arc.

"Elm?" sweat dropped Marrow.

The woman noticed Velvet was so dizzy from shaking her hand too rough and finally decided to stop. Laphicet and Jaune were helping the long haired woman as everything around her was spinning so fast.

"I'm sorry for getting carried away."

"Apologies. It's been her dream to finally meet her" replied Vine.

"I'm sure she will never forget meeting you" Yang hide her smirk.

Clover's picked up and incoming transmission as he nodded a couple of times.

"Duty calls. I hope we meet again. We'll be in touch. Let's go people!"

"It was nice meeting you Velvet!" said the excited Elm.

The former therion was still dizzy as the Ace Ops left joining with a group of Atlas soldiers.

"Have you guys met my father yet?" asked Penny.

"We've only been in Mantle for like an hour, I think" said the silver eyed leader.

"You talking about the doc?" said Cardin.

"Pietro?" said Oscar.

The group suddenly was shocked as the orange haired girl was all smiles. They gazed at the Winchester, then Penny, then back at him, and forth.

"How do you know?" asked Yang.

"Just a guess" he won't say that she's a robot Pietro did told him of his greatest creation during his stay in Atlas.

"I guess we can return and check on him and Maria" said Weiss.

"Let's go everyone!" the orange haired girl couldn't contain her excitement.

To be continued

-It's FINALLY BACK BABY! In celebration of the release of volume 8. I am hoping you folks will enjoy my version of volume 7 of this story.

-Just from this chapter you can tell how different this volume will go. Ozpin told Ironwood the truth of Salem and obviously he wasn't happy but with this he won't make the drastic choice of taking Atlas and leave Mantle behind using the staff of Creation. Also the truth has broken his trust over Ozpin and right now his trust over Velvet is what's keeping him to continue working with the group. Also keep in mind Cinder is dead in the story so James won't be provoke further in going with his crazy plan at the end of the volume.

-Obviously they went to Atlas Academy first considering they were being brought by Winter before going to Mantle like in canon.

-Never like the whole thing Ironwood being seen as a villain when all of his actions since his debut in v2 were all just and with good intentions. Goodwitch even said it herself of him having a good heart. CRWBY just messing up the writing because they're bad at writing. They failed to make the true fans believed that he's a bad guy in just one volume.

-I just read the one thing that made me lose all hope that RWBY is going to get better in the future. The CRWBY commentary from v7 I face palmed, I head desk, I bashed my head to a wall. It was just so bad. They had good ideas, something that would have made the volume decent and worth getting hype for. Instead they went with the shitty ideas like Ruby in the original storyboard she gets angry at Salem when she mentions Summer's name. Instead she cries getting emotional. Marrow talking to Blake at how hard is being a faunus in Atlas that would have given her some character growth. But we all know they dropped the discrimination subplot. I'll leave it there I'm still upset about it.

-I made the fights in Mantle different as expected, the same with the Ace Ops meeting and the Penny reunion. I wanted to make it more funny than emotional with her giving the group crushing hugs lol. Better than Ruby being all awkward and the rest not giving a crap that she's back.

-I made Yang thanked Ironwood and Pietro because it is the RIGHT THING to do. Pietro built the mech arm under Ironwood's orders and he gave the order that it gets sent to Patch. I angers me that the fanatics are saying she should thank Ironwood shit because he's an evil dictator. Ironic that these fanatics are Bumblebee toxic shippers.

-I'm so happy to see the Valkyrie of Remnant got plenty of reviews thank you so much for the support. I haven't read the reviews yet lol but I will make some time during the week. The next chapter will be release this Friday thanks again.

-Haven't seen the new episode of volume 8 but I have seen reviews and it's a kinda meh episode not surprised. Maybe I'll watch it tomorrow or during the week not that hype TBH. And FINALLY it seems they're showing Cinder's backstory after seven volumes and too bad because I already killed her and I don't care.

-I'm aware I made a blooper because when Cardin met Pietro he wasn't dead from the waist down. Back then Pietro wasn't fully introduced and I was so sure he was that older man watching the Vytal Festival at v3 I don't remember the episode though.

-Replying to reviews:

*Gabriel443- me alegro que te haya gustado lost character shorts.

*TheEmeraldMage- I wanted to give Neo and Torchwick some relevance since it has been revealed CRWBY didn't had a clue what kind of relationship they would have. It sounds insane you create two characters who seems to have a close relationship and then you have no idea what to make of them. In my case I made Neo as a daughter for Roman to replaced his dead son. As always thank you very much for the constant support.

*Guest- thank you so much.

*NightmareKnight1- the main reason why I stopped accepting Betas. I thought they would have fixed the grammar only to have reviewers telling me it's not fixed. Other Betas just stopped sending me chapters without giving a reason and I eventually removed them from my list. I finally decided not to have any more of them because they will not do a good job. I may never find the perfect Beta so I'm screw. Also I wanted to make Velvet human because she deserves it after everything she went through. I wouldn't like it to keep her a daemon. Thanks for the review.

*CT7567Rules- thanks a lot glad you enjoyed all of the character shorts.

*SiegfriedXIII- thanks a lot on giving extra information on the disease. Yeah I'd figure Laphicet was 12 before the Advent. I guess in my story he should be 14 (Oscar's actual age when I changed that). But I went with 16 to make him grow up more. Thanks again.

*Grannster10- thanks a lot glad to know you're liking the story.

*TPoynt- let me say that thanks for the long review and I appreciate it. Yes its true I projected my opinions onto Velvet because I saw it as unfair why Ozpin got treated that way. Team RWBY and the others KNEW they weren't going to a school field trip. That they were getting into some serious shit. Real war. I was mostly angry with Yang's reaction when she said the main reason she joined Ruby is because she trusts her that's it. It had nothing to do with Ozpin at all. Second I got more upset at her hypocrisy she told Ozpin no more secrets or half truths and she got angry after finding out he was keeping more secrets from them. But if she hasn't told them that Raven is the Spring Maiden (because honestly we won't know I hate when RT do things off screen) then it makes her a hypocrite because I believe Qrow and Ruby deserves to know. Second I NEVER intended to follow canon events of v7 due that it was so bad. But if it comes to it I would never make her take "suppose villain" Ironwood's side. We all know where her loyalties lie. As I stated Ironwood is following Velvet's lead in her plan because he trusts her more than Ozpin. Whether the plan succeeds or fails it will be up to their actions in future chapters.

*Guest- thank you very much happy to know you're enjoying the story.

*OkamiGojiFan- no offense man it's okay if you like one series more than another. I respect your choice.

*Deathstroke283- THANK YOU because I didn't noticed until you brought it up. Talk about bloopers my bad thanks again. I will eventually be fixing that lol.

-Next chapter it will be a filler but something very necessary for the story focusing more on Mantle. I feel like CRWBY didn't gave it too much focus in v7, the same with Atlas. And I'm sure they might not do it in v8 either.

-Off topic I want to get this off my chest with what has happened with RT in over a month as I write this. Two employees that were kicked out of the company Adam Kovic for apparently showing naked pictures of himself to minors which I find it disgusting. And Ryan Haywood from Achievement Hunter who is also the VA for Peter Port in RWBY. Ryan confessed that he was cheating on his wife sleeping around with fans and among those fans were minors. Along that many of his fans have come forward telling their story. Others have called him a "predator". I think these bastard should all rot in jail. I feel sorry for the AH community who claimed they had no idea of Ryan's actions behind work and have decided to eliminated any past videos that include him also I'm sure they're going to edit RWBY scenes where Port is shown. I know they're going to make a horrible job and I don't care. RT has been slowly falling apart since Monty passed away in 2015 and it got worse since the company was bought by AT&T and Warner Media. My point is I don't see RT making it out alive in 2021 so many signs that they're heading to bankrupt big time. At this rate all I care about is RWBY what will happen to the show?

-As always thank you very much for all the favs, follows and reviews I really appreciate it.
