It was proving to be one hell of a stormy night as Touya sat by the window of his room looking out at the city below. Nat and Shoto had come to visit him earlier with neither of them able to give him any details on Toshi.
To say he was worried would be an understatement.
Ever since the TV in his room had switched to an emergency evacuation broadcast for all families surrounding some downtown area across the city he knew something was wrong. He'd watched as the friend his little brother had talked about burst through the roof of the building with a small girl on his back fighting against the boss of the Shie Hassaikai, Overhaul.
He'd only met him once during his time as 'Dabi' while at the facility but in that short span he quickly came to the opinion that he never wanted to see him ever again. The man was a monster and he honestly didn't dare thinking about what his organisation had been up to.
When Toshi had appeared on the feed a short while later he'd first been relieved, thankful that he was still alive, but the sheer amount of blood covering him and such a pained expression he was sadly used to seeing from their time spent together at the facility, he couldn't relax fully. Something was really wrong with Toshi.
He'd tried asking his doctor but the hospital clearly had everything under wraps. All he wanted to know was whether his kid was okay but even that was met with deflection.
That had been a few days ago.
His doctor was talking about getting him discharged soon something which he thought he'd been excited about but now, faced with the reality, he was really feeling a wave of anxiety about being back out in the real world.
His Mother's doctor had also cleared him to visit her too.
Hearing the news had brought him to tears, the concept of finally seeing her again after so many years a beautiful gift he never thought he'd never get the chance to receive.
His thoughts were interrupted by an almost inaudible knock on the door. Furrowing an eyebrow he walked over, opening the door to reveal a truly terrified looking…
"Toshi!"
'SORRY. ME SORRY'
"What are you doing here?" Touya guided him into the room and over to the bed to sit down. He took a seat next to him, his purple-haired kid huddling impossibly close against his side as tears trickled down his cheeks.
What was he sorry for?
"Koneko…" He began softly. "What are you sorry about?"
But Hitoshi only cried harder.
And so he'd wrapped his arms around the kid and held him tight as he sobbed, it wasn't until there was another knock at the door that he got his answer.
"Come in."
Eraserhead.
In a true testament to how much the pro hero had come to know his son, even just the sound of his sniffle gave him the confirmation he needed of Hitoshi's presence in the room. He let out a relieved breath before taking out his phone.
"Call Zashi."
Touya continued to comfort Toshi as the voice hero made his way up to the room. He looked between the two of them.
"He was near hysterical when he arrived and he kept apologising."
Eraserhead sighed.
"Recovery Girl warned us that Hitoshi's lack of energy could lead to his quirk leaking; we were in the room together and then after that we both seemed to come back to ourselves at the same time and Toshi was gone. I guess he needed reassurance from his older brother." He offered a soft smile.
'Older brother'
There was a time when he was practically Toshi's Dad, and he still thought of the little terror as his kid, but in this new world where Toshi was loved so completely by these two pros and their families he was more than happy to fill the role his little Koneko was missing.
Touya looked down at the bundle of Toshi in his arms.
"Hey, you feel like talking yet kiddo?"
He nervously nodded in reply.
"We're not angry at you Tosh, what happened wasn't your fault, with everything that's happened, and the problems you have with breathing right now your body is practically running on empty and that's what caused your quirk to leak. You didn't do anything to us and we're completely fine, we were more worried about what might have happened to you after you'd left your room." Hizashi explained.
"We had a feeling we might know where you were. Thanks for looking after his Touya." Eraserhead offered a nod.
"No problem, he's welcome anytime, though I'd rather it be when you're not undergoing treatment to repair your lungs." He teased.
Hitoshi laughed a little with brought a smile to the faces of everyone in the room.
"I have some good news too, they're gonna' discharge me soon so if Eraserhead and Present Mic permit it I should be able to see you more often."
Hitoshi's eyes widened before a huge grin came to his face, diving forward and wrapping his arms around him in a squishy hug.
Touya softly stroked his kid's back, holding him tight.
"I'm really glad you're okay, Toshi, I've missed you so much."
'MISS YOU TOO'
