Sitting on the sofa Kate curled up. The hype of Christmas was slowly getting to the kids and it took them ages to get off to sleep and she still wasn't sure that Grace was actually asleep. She could hear a faint muffled giggle above them and where they were sat was below Gracie's room.
"drink" Mike smiled
"please" she smiled, watching as Mike walked round the kitchen pouring 2 glasses of white wine.
Carrying them over he also had brought over a box of chocolates.
"i thought we were saving those for Christmas she said looking at the box as he placed them on the table
"well why not. It is Christmas and I thought we could tuck in whilst watching a Christmas film" he smiled lifting the remote.
Scrolling through the list he stopped on Die-hard.
"i thought you said a Christmas film" Kate said
"yeah, and this is a Christmas film" Mike said just about to press play
"no, it's a film that came out at Christmas, there is a difference" Kate smiled
"actually it came out on the 6th of October 1988" Mike grinned looking at her
"exactly Christmas films have to come out after Halloween" Kate laughed reaching across grabbing the remote. "and you watch Die hard every year. Time for a new film" she said scrolling through the list "what about this one, last Christmas" she said clicking on it to load up the synopsis. "based on the hit Wham! Song of the same name, a young woman Kate meets a Charming man Henry who tries to show her the meaning of Christmas and of life"
"sounds like it will be predictable" Mike said
"come on it sounds perfect and I though you liked a bit of George Michael" she said pressing play
"fine but we will watch Die hard" he grinned watching as she reached for the chocolate before she pulled her knees right up.
Watching the film Kate smiled listening to all the songs. Last Christmas was one of the best all time Christmas songs and it always would be.
"well that wasn't at all predictable" Mike smiled as the credits began to roll
"hey its still a nice film and so true we all spend so much time just looking at our phones and if this year has shown us anything then it is we all just need to look up at what is around us" Kate smiled
"yeah" Mike smiled "anyway" he said looking at the clock "what is the little sod going to be doing tonight" Mike asked looking at the elf sat on the shelf. He hadn't moved for a few days as Grace was acting up so he stayed still and didn't move,
"well, I picked these up in Coles today" she said holding up a box of present bows and ribbon "i thought he could do 'climbing up the door" she smiled
"okay, which door shall we use"
"what about the pantry door so he could be trying to get the sweets. The one could be climbing up and the other could be holding the ribbon guide rope" Kate smiled
"that is mad" Mike laughed "but actually might work" he laughed "lets get started and then we can go to bed"
Tying the ribbon around the one elf's waist Kate sat it on the floor whilst she added the bows up the door making it look like a climbing wall. Hooking the other elf in to two of the bows she then tied the other end of the ribbon around its waist.
Stepping back she looked up at it admiring her handy work. She was quite pleased at what she had done and it looked fab and would make the kids laugh when they came down in the morning. With just under a week to Christmas it was becoming more hard to think of original ideas. She would have to scroll through Facebook or Instagram to see if there were any good ideas she could pinch.#
so sorry its a super short one but my insperation just ran away with me. i had a idea and just forgot. anyway last christmas is the best christmas film to come out of late (it was last year) and i loved it although it was predictable and the plot was predicted 3 months before the film came out and then there were the really odd predictions about it. and i dont care what you say die hard is NOT A CHRISTMAS FILM there i said it. (i actually never watched it but still)
hope you enjoy x
