"Aw yeah! We're back!" Ashido cheered, flinging the doors to the 1-A dorms open as she ran into the common room.
Kacchan immediately let out a loud bark, wagging his tail excitedly, as Kinu weaved between the students' legs to paw at Uraraka's feet, flicking her tail around wildly.
"Kinu!" Uraraka scooped the chinchilla up, "How were you this week?"
The chinchilla let out an excited chatter, as Bakugou huffed, before reaching down to scratch his Pomeranian behind his ears.
Koda immediately went to look for Yuwai, and Midoriya let out a silent, relieved sigh. He looked up, noticing that Uraraka was holding Kinu up, and the chinchilla patted his nose with her paw.
The green haired boy blinked, confused, and Shinsou turned in an attempt to stifle his laughter at the boy's bewildered face. Reiko let out a low purr, and used her own paw to gently smack Kinu's paw away, before she jumped off Midoriya's shoulder onto the ground.
Uraraka let Kinu go, and the chinchilla raced over to Reiko's side, the both of them chattering excitedly, and Ryuto fluttered down from Midoriya's shoulder to join them.
Todoroki stretched, and yawned, "We're finally back."
"Yeah. This week has been super hectic." Uraraka grinned, "Come on, let's unpack. I'm not sure if Lunch Rush would be making dinner, or we would be responsible for it."
"Yes! I shall ask Aizawa-sensei about the dinner situation! Even if we do not have to make dinner, we should still unpack! There are lessons tomorrow, and the earlier we unpack, the earlier we can rest and get ready for tomorrow's lesson!" Iida nodded, holding up a plastic bag with some sod bottles and chip packets, "I think there are also some leftover snacks and drinks from the bus ride back to UA! I will leave them in the kitchen, should anyone want some!"
"I..." Midoriya paused, unsure if he should continue, but that was more than enough to catch Iida's attention.
"Ah! Izuku! Do you need anything?"
Midoriya meekly pointed at the bag, "Can I... take a soda?"
Iida's face immediately lit up; for once, Midoriya was actually verbally asking for something, instead of just pointing or gesturing or using sign language! The bespectacled boy couldn't help but feel so proud of the smaller greenette; he had really come a long way from that shy, quiet boy who distanced himself from anyone and would always put others before himself, not even daring to talk or ask anyone for anything.
"Of course! Take whatever you want!" Iida grinned, opening the plastic bag for Midoriya to tale his pick, and the smaller boy could easily grab a bottle of lime-flavored soda, "If you need anything else, everything will be in the kitchen."
"Thank you." The greenette nodded slowly, before Iida turned around, waving his arms at Sero and Kaminari, "No running in the common rooms! Especially when there are so many people! You would run into someone by accident! Stop running!"
Midoriya moved to the side as Ashido decided to join the chaos, and the group just watched as Yaoyorozu tried to help Iida in wrangling the excited trio. Midoriya looked up at Shinsou, who just smiled down at him, gently ruffling his fluffy green hair.
"Do we have any homework that's due tomorrow?" Todoroki asked, and Shinsou thought for a second, before replying, "Yeah, that Mathematics homework that we all finished together. I think that's it."
"Oh, okay." Todoroki picked up his bag, "Well, I'm going to go unpack."
"Yeah. We have to do that too. Let's go." Shinsou stated, and Midoriya nodded.
Midoriya yawned, curling up around Reiko and Ryuto as he shifted in his bean bag, before he opened his eyes, peering around his room.
He was finally home, and he couldn't be happier that he was back in UA and out of Ketsubutsu Academy. Lunch Rush had made dinner for them, so all they had to do was wash their dishes after they had finished unpacking.
The smaller boy sat up, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, feeling the bean bag sink slightly under his weight, before reaching out to grab his phone. He had forgotten to set his alarm, but his internal alarm clock had woken him up as early as usual.
Glancing over to the side, Midoriya was initially surprised that Shinsou wasn't with him, but then he remembered the previous night that the taller boy had fallen asleep in his own room after he had finished unpacking, and Midoriya didn't want to wake him up, so he had just decided to go to sleep on his own.
Letting out another yawn, the greenette unlocked his phone, cuddling Reiko and Ryuto to his chest, and was surprised to see a message from Nezu. He hastily opened up the messaging application, and peered at the message.
06:12 - Nezu, Principal:
Izuku, Recovery Girl wishes to see you in the infirmary before your lessons start for the day.
She told me that she wants to take a blood sample.
Take care of yourself!
Midoriya blinked. Why on earth did Shuzenji want a blood sample from him?
Then again, it was winter, and that was when the flu was most easily spread around. Maybe she just wanted to make sure that he didn't catch anything while in Ketsubutsu, especially with his poor immune system.
The boy sent a quick reply to Nezu, before he started brushing his teeth and changing into his school uniform, noticing that Reiko had already woken up and was sitting on the bean bag, waiting for him patiently. Ryuto had just woken up, and the avian blearily preened himself, before puffing up his feathers.
"I need to go early." Midoriya muttered, gently scratching Reiko's head. He hastily scribbled a note on a sticky pad, and gently slapped it on his door so that Iida would know that he had left early and wouldn't be wondering why he wasn't in the dorms, before he scooped both Reiko and Ryuto up, grabbed his school bag, and raced down the stairs.
He quickly set about giving Reiko and Ryuto breakfast, before running out of the dorms towards the main school building.
Midoriya paused, before he fished his phone out of his pocket and sent a quick message to Shinsou on his whereabouts, before he resumed his sprint towards UA.
Shuzenji heard some footsteps echoing down the hallways, and she looked up, just in time to see Midoriya standing at the doorway to the infirmary.
"You didn't have to get here so early, you know?" Shuzenji sighed, "Come on in. Sit down."
The green haired boy gently sat down on one of the infirmary beds, rolling up his sleeve and held his arm out, watching as Shuzenji gently stuck a needle into his arm to draw out some blood.
"Do you remember what we talked about around a month ago?" Shuzenji asked, and Midoriya tilted his head to the side, thinking, his eyes idly watching the small tube that was slowly being filled up with blood. Shuzenji let out a small sigh, and pulled the needle out, before giving Midoriya a plaster with some cartoon characters to stick over the small wound, "The one on antidepressants."
Midoriya slowly nodded. He did remember that conversation, with both Shuzenji and Nezu.
Shuzenji noticed that Midoriya knew what was going on, and continued, "Basically, I'm going to start you on antidepressants when I get back to you, either today or tomorrow. But there are some basic things that you should know about these kinds of medication. Some kinds of medication wouldn't be compatible with you, but even with a blood sample, I won't be able to filter them out, and we can only see what works for you through trial and error."
Midoriya blinked. He... didn't really like the sound of that.
"The best scenario is that the first one that we try works well for you. You might experience some effects like nausea, dizziness, or some anxiety and agitation. You can search up more about them later. It's... complicated, but we can just see how it works out and then decide if the medication or dosages should be changed. The worst case scenario... you're not compatible with the antidepressants. The first time you take those kinds of antidepressants, they might make things feel much, much worse than normal, and they just don't do what they're supposed to do."
Midoriya froze up. That sounded absolutely terrible.
Shuzenji could swear that Midoriya turned as pale as a ghost, and she couldn't really blame him. She knew how bad Midoriya's episodes could be, especially after that talk with that external counselor that was a friend of Inui's, and having that increase in severity just sounded like a horrible experience.
Still, if she wanted to help Midoriya recover faster... this was their only option, since Midoriya could barely talk to Inui, and Nezu couldn't count as a therapist since he was too close to the greenette.
"If that happens, try to come and find me. I will inform Nezu and the other teachers of this arrangement, so they can also help before anything becomes too serious." Shuzenji sighed, rummaging around in her mini refrigerator for a small jelly pack to calm Midoriya down, "Also, you might want to inform a friend of two of what's going on, so at least, you'd have some support during lunch or during your training sessions."
Midoriya nodded, and gently sipped on the jelly packet. Shuzenji glanced at her watch, "You were here early. You can stay here for a few minutes before your lessons start."
Shinsou groaned, reaching out to switch off the alarm on his phone, before he noticed that there was something fluffy in his face, and he hastily swatted it away. Shirou let out an annoyed mewl, crawling off Shinsou's chest to find someplace else to sleep, and the lavender haired boy let out a yawn, before sitting up.
The boy was finally able to switch off the annoying alarm, and Shinsou unlocked his phone, noticing that he had a new message.
07:08 - Izuwu:
Good Morning, Hito.
I will be at the infirmary before I head to lessons.
Recovery Girl wants to see me.
Shinsou just blinked, before he brushed his teeth, and got ready for the lessons that they would be having that day. He hastily shoved his books and worksheets into his backpack, and changed into his uniform, before racing down the stairs to the kitchen.
He quickly grabbed some cereal and wolfed it down, before setting out breakfast for Shirou, just as Iida walked into the common room, fully dressed.
The bespectacled boy placed his bag on the ground, and turned to Shinsou, "You're early today, Hitoshi."
"Yeah. I got a message from Izu. He's with Recovery Girl right now, so I was hoping to go find him before lessons start." Shinsou replied.
Iida nodded, "Yeah. I saw the note on his door. I trust that he will be on time for lessons. Are you going to go find him?"
"Yeah... how did you know?" Shinsou let out a sheepish laugh, scratching his neck, and Iida rolled his eyes, "I've known you since we were ten, you know? You're not that hard to read, especially with regards to Izuku."
"Am I that obvious?" Shinsou raised an eyebrow questioningly, and Iida let out a sigh, "Unfortunately, yes. It's not like Izuku's any better. He's always looking for you for cuddling and hugs, and tries to get your approval for almost everything."
"Oh... really..." The lavender haired boy turned red, and Iida rolled his eyes, before he chopped his arm, "Wash your bowl before you leave for the infirmary! You better not be late; I expect no less of a UA student!"
"Yes, sir." Shinsou replied, finishing up the last of his cereal, watching as Iida raced up the stairs to wake everyone else up for lessons, before he quickly washed his cereal bowl, grabbed his backpack, and made a run for the infirmary.
Shinsou knocked on the door of the infirmary, and poked his head inside the room, "Recovery Girl? Is Izuku here?"
"Hello, Shinsou." Shuzenji turned around, and beckoned the boy into the room, "I was just finishing up with Midoriya, and explaining some things to him."
Shinsou nodded, and looked down at Midoriya, "So... what did she need you for?"
Midoriya just blinked, considering his options, before he glanced at Shuzenji. Getting the hint, Shinsou also turned to Shuzenji, and the nurse settled down by her computer, "For the time being, nothing too important. I was just filling him in on the possible negative effects of antidepressants, especially if they aren't compatible with him. I just want him to keep an eye out for anything, because even if I do a blood test to try and narrow down everything to all the best, most compatible options, I won't know what's really helpful to him until he takes them."
"Oh." Shinsou blinked, blanching slightly. He still remembered Shuzenji helping him out with the same problem when he was younger after some counselling from Inui, and while he was grateful to the school nurse's help... he still remembered the undesirable side effects from incompatible antidepressants.
Sure, Shuzenji did her best to correct the medication as soon as possible, but the lavender haired boy remembered feeling so terrible about his entire existence that he had to hide under the teacher's table, clinging onto Aizawa's leg for comfort, as the Erasure hero tried his best to finish his homeroom lesson without standing up to use the blackboard.
"I'll be informing the other teachers as well, so you don't have to worry too much." Shuzenji stated, fishing out a jelly pack for Shinsou, "You know how bad incompatible antidepressants can get. Just... keep an eye on him, okay?"
Shinsou nodded, and sat down beside Midoriya, the both of them snacking on jelly packs as Shuzenji tapped away at her computer. The taller boy looked down, noticing that Midoriya was using one hand to hold onto his jelly packet, and the other was by his neck, gently tugging at the collar that always sat around his neck.
Shinsou gently wrapped an arm around Midoriya, his arm brushing lightly against his collar, and they sat there in silence until Shuzenji turned around on her swivel chair, "Lessons are starting in about five minutes. You two better get a move on. I'm not going to write you a pass if you're late."
"Yeah." Shinsou turned towards Midoriya, "Come on, Zuku. Let's go for classes."
Midoriya nodded, and reached out, gently grabbed onto Shinsou's arm as the lavender haired boy stood up. He waved goodbye to Shuzenji, before the two students walked out of the infirmary, heading towards the 1-A classroom.
A/N Just a note, all the information I have is from the internet, and I also asked a couple of people about antidepressants. I'm not sure if all my information is accurate, but I tried to cross check it to the best of my abilities...
