Chapter 177

After Saraya's birth, Ahiga took a few days off work so he could stay home with Nesia to help her but, more importantly, so he could bond with his daughter. It was still scary, but now that he was holding Saraya, playing with her, cuddling with her and taking naps with her – it felt good. Salem got a picture of him taking a nap on the couch with his feet up on one of the arms and Saraya napping on his chest on her belly with her ear over his pectoral muscle listening to his heartbeat content as could be. Ahiga let Nesia see the picture of course, but after that it went straight into his wallet to keep. Oliver and Oscar were called and notified that Saraya was born so the two of them flew into Washington to meet their niece and also to welcome her to the flock. Oliver and Oscar presented Saraya with one of their feathers and stayed overnight for a visit. That same night, Freddie and Boss drove to Ahiga's house to meet Saraya and stayed long enough to have a beer with Ahiga out on the porch.

While Ahiga was outside on the porch with Freddie and Boss, Nesia was relaxing in bed with Saraya. She'd fed Saraya and placed her on the bed beside her so they could relax. She was on the verge of falling asleep when she heard something at the window. It was a loud tapping sound that startled her and Nesia turned in bed sitting up. She placed her hand on Saraya's belly protectively but she quickly realized the tapping was coming from Blu who was sitting on the window sill awaiting entry. Nesia lifted Saraya into her arms then went to the window so she could let Blu in. Once the window was open, Blu hopped in gently flapping his wings and hopping from side to side. Nesia smiled and adjusted Saraya in her arms so she was lying on her back. Blu flew up to her and landing on Saraya so he could look at her. Saraya was still asleep and didn't open her eyes but that didn't stop Blu from moving a little closer to get a better look at Saraya's sleeping face.

"Her name's Saraya," Nesia said and Blu started hopping, flapping his wings and tweeting for a moment with excitement then brought his tiny beak closer to her chin as if to give Saraya a little kiss. "Saraya, say hi to Blu," Nesia whispered to Saraya although she remained sound asleep.

Seeing Saraya sleeping so soundly made Nesia's eyes heavy and she wanted to go to sleep too. So she went to the bed and sat on the edge all while Blu stayed perched on top of Saraya. Nesia gently placed Saraya down on the bed and lied down beside her so she, Saraya and Blu could all relax together. She was asleep in no time and when she was, Blu snuggled between her and Saraya as though he were in a little nest. After Boss and Freddie had left for the evening, Ahiga went upstairs and saw Nesia still in bed with their daughter and the little blue bird snuggled between them. It was the cutest sight he'd ever seen and he was so upset that he didn't have a camera.

When Ahiga finally returned to work, his coworkers welcomed him back congratulating him on the new baby while throwing some light hearted jokes his way. After work, Ahiga went straight to the gym to train and when he got there, he took out the picture of him and Saraya on the couch together and taped it on the door of his locker.

"Hey," Boss said and Ahiga turned to look at him and Freddie. "How's the baby?"

"She's great," Ahiga smiled and pushed the door to his locker out so they could see the picture he'd just put in the door. "Courtesy of Salem," Ahiga said.

"Oh, how the mighty have fallen," Boss said with a light smile.

"How's Nesia feeling? We didn't really get a chance to say hi to her when we visited," Freddie said.

"She's doing much better," Ahiga said. "She's on maternity leave until the fall so we've got plenty of time to work out babysitting options."

"I thought Haseya was looking after her," Boss said with a puzzled look.

"She probably will, honestly," Ahiga said but then seemed to realize something. He couldn't remember if Haseya and Boss had talked to one another when he'd visited. Of course, they must have and he'd just not noticed. "We've got Natalie too in case mom's not able to for any reason."

"Always good to have free babysitting," Freddie smiled. "Alright, daddy, time to get in the ring. You've skipped a few days so I need to whip you back into shape."

"Now especially," Boss said knowingly.

"Now especially? Something you want to tell me there, Boss?" Ahiga asked eagerly.

"I'll tell you when I have something to tell, kid. Now ass in the ring," Boss said and Freddie led Ahiga to the ring so they could train with a few other boxers.

When Ahiga finally returned home, he was sweaty and stank to high heaven but he was in a great mood. Nesia was upstairs in their bedroom sleeping with Saraya on the bed with her. Saraya was swaddled in a little lavender blanket sound asleep so Ahiga got onto the bed as quietly as he possibly could and pressed a kiss to her cheek. Of course, when he did that, Saraya started to squirm and wiggle making little noises. Nesia groaned a little but didn't seem to be waking up, so Ahiga picked up Saraya placing her against his chest and the sound of his heartbeat seemed to immediately sooth her.

"We'll let mommy sleep, okay?" Ahiga whispered to Saraya and took her into the bathroom with him.

He grabbed the little baby tub so Saraya could be secure while quickly showered off before he picked her back up and got Saraya cleaned up. Now that she was in the shower with Ahiga, Saraya was wide awake moving her feet and hands around trying to lift her head. Ahiga had to make sure he had a hand on her head at all times to make sure she didn't accidently whip her head back. While he was washing Saraya up, Nesia came into the bathroom audibly groggy. With a smile, hoping to make Nesia laugh, Ahiga gently pressed Saraya's butt against the shower's glass door and sang Love of My Life by Queen.

"Ahiga, stop that!" Nesia said with a giggle. "She'll get cold." Saraya wasn't crying so she thankfully wasn't upset, but she was looking around the shower and making little squealing noises. Ahiga chuckled and readjusted Saraya so she was comfortable on his chest again and finished washing her up.

In the meantime, Roshad needed to make a trip to Tehran for business and would be there for a few months. With Kamron in school, Jaedynn and Ashti stayed in Washington with the children but fully intended to join him once school was out for summer vacation. Evalynn was super busy with school. She was in the final stretch of Med School with projects, school work and a residency spot she'd earned at the local hospital all on top of preparing for the LSAT. She had more nights than she would care to admit where she would be on the verge of tears calling Kyle with Dmitri and Heidi in the room trying to console her.

"Daddy," Evalynn would say, "I can't do this; this is too hard."

And Kyle would say to her, "Don't talk like that, Evalynn. There's nothing you can't do. You're almost over the finish line. Don't give up."

After venting to Kyle and sometimes to Caleb, she would pep herself up by saying to herself in the mirror, "Big girls don't cry. Get a hold of yourself," and go to bed ready to face a new day. Every now and then, when she had a free moment, she would call Shyann to check up on her, but every time she called, Shyann was out of the house. Sometimes she'd leave a message and when Shyann would call back, Evalynn was either at school or was out cold in bed and Dmitri would have to tell her to call back another time. Then her finals week rolled around and she couldn't have been happier for them. She had several labs and a few written tests and on her last day of finals, she didn't even have the energy left to celebrate and instead went right to bed.

Family called the apartment but Evalynn was already asleep and Heidi insisted they needed to let Evalynn be so she could sleep but promised she'd be able to talk to people the next day. When Evalynn finally woke up, it was nearly 11 and she fumbled out of her bedroom to the tiny kitchen table in her little apartment she shared with her great grandparents.

"Morning, doctor," Dmitri said with a big smile sitting at the dining table. Heidi was already in the kitchen making a big dinner of cabbage rolls.

"I'm not a doctor yet, grandpa," Evalynn said with a groggy smile as she sat down. "They haven't posted the grades yet. I won't know until Monday."

"I don't know why you're worried," Dmitri said, "You'll pass with flying colors."

"Let's not talk about school," Heidi said, "she's done nothing but worry about school. You've earned a break. The cabbage rolls will be ready soon. I'll make some eggs to go with them. Sunny side up: just the way you like it."

"Oma, that's too nice," Evalynn said.

"Shush; you've earned it," Heidi said and came over to give Evalynn a big hug and kiss on her forehead. "I'm so proud of you, Mein Liebling."

"I haven't passed yet, Oma," Evalynn said as she leaned against Heidi appreciating the sentiment all the same.

"You will," Heidi said and kissed her head again, "you will."

Family started calling that afternoon to talk to Evalynn offering their congratulations. Kyle and Evalynn were already on a plane to Connecticut for her graduation as was Kevin and Amber. Heather and Levi fully intended to go but would be leaving closer to the date. It also marked the one year point since Nadja had moved to the US to be with Levi. In all that time, he'd made a point not to force a decision. He let Seattle speak for itself and just hoped she would love it enough to stay. She definitely missed London, but after spending a year with Levi in Seattle and seeing how close he was with his family, how often they saw one another, his involvement with his pack and all around how much happier Levi was in Seattle, it was pretty easy for Nadja to finally make a decision.

"Nadja, have you seen my red tie?" Levi asked as they were packing to leave for Connecticut for Evalynn's graduation.

"2nd drawer from the bottom in the closet," Nadja answered as she was folding a little pink knee length dress along with her other clothes.

"Thanks," Levi said once he finally found it and packed that with his suit. They were packing in relative silence for another moment until Nadja spoke up.

"Can I ask you a stupid question?" Nadja said.

"Only if I can give you a stupid answer," Levi joked with a loving smile and Nadja giggled a little.

"What's it like living in a house?" Nadja asked. "I've only ever lived in apartments."

"I mean," Levi started. It was definitely an odd question and he wasn't sure how to answer at first. "It's a lot more spacious. That's for sure."

"Is it?" Nadja asked.

"Yeah," Levi said. "My sister and I both had our own rooms until the twins came along. There's plenty of privacy, we had a big backyard we could play in, we never really overheard our neighbors like we do here and we were really close to a park: I liked it a lot."

"It sounds nice," Nadja said thoughtfully. "How much does a house cost?"

"Depends on what you're buying," Levi said. "A house is a big investment so regardless of the size, there's a big to-do with buying a house. Buying a house and getting set up with a mortgage is as good as giving blood if I'm honest. You need a lawyer, you need a realtor, an inspector – it's a lot."

"Geez," Nadja said. "Is it worth it?"

"If you buy a house you like then I would say so," Levi said.

"Do you think we could afford a house?" Nadja asked. Levi looked at Nadja finally realizing where she was getting at but also not wanting to jump to conclusions.

"It depends on what we want," Levi said. "Housing prices in Washington aren't so bad. Seattle's higher but that just comes with being in a city. I'm assuming London's housing prices are pretty steep too depending on what you're looking for but they're probably fine outside the city. Why do you ask?"

"I was thinking," Nadja said and sat down on the edge of their bed, "wouldn't it be lovely to own a little house nearby? I could be near the theatre, you can be near work and we could have some extra space. Maybe adopt a dog…..start a family." Levi didn't answer right away. He was staring at her for a moment almost scared he was mishearing her.

"If we bought a house here, it would be a big commitment," Levi finally said in a quieted tone. "We'd be living here for a really long time. It's a huge process selling a house if that's what we wanted to do later down the line."

"Hm," Nadja hummed and gently nodded her head. "Seattle's growing on me," she finally said. "I think I could handle living here permanently."

"You mean it?" Levi asked after another brief silence.

"Yeah," Nadja said with a loving smile, "I mean it." Levi was a little still for a moment. He was so happy but still in disbelief. Finally, when he knew he wasn't dreaming, his smile broadened and he swallowed a lump in his throat that was starting to form. "Well don't leave me hanging here, Levi. What are you thinking?" Nadja asked teasingly.

"Sorry," Levi finally said, "I'm just a little nervous. Stay right there for me?"

"Sure," Nadja answered and Levi walked out of the bedroom going to his desk in the living room area.

He unlocked one of the drawers and grabbed a large box. He'd been sitting on this for months ready to present it at a moment's notice. He'd wanted to save it for when they'd made a decision of whether they would be staying in Seattle or returning to London. Now it was finally time to present his gift and he was so nervous he was shaking. He'd had to call in a big favor from Roshad for all the materials – especially the organic materials – and he just hoped Nadja would love them. More importantly, he hoped she'd say 'yes'. Levi returned to their bedroom and Nadja was right where he'd left her sitting on the edge of the bed with her legs crossed waiting patiently.

"Is everything okay?" she asked.

"Yeah, everything's fine," Levi said, "More than fine." He got down on his knees in front of her and held the large box in his lap.

"Oh, Levi," Nadja cooed, "You got me a present?"

"Yeah," Levi smiled nervously, "I've had this for a while. I was waiting for the right time to give it to you. All this talk about a house, a dog, a family – it got me thinking."

"About what?" Nadja asked as her teasing smile faded.

"About how happy I am with you," Levi said, "and how I want to spend my life with you." Levi finally opened the box and inside was a bracelet and matching ring. He'd had it made with white gold and pearls. The white gold Roshad was kind enough to make for him but the pearls needed to be ordered. They were all manner of colors: white, grey and some were a pale pink. The largest, whitest pearl Levi had set in the white gold ring. "Have I told you today how much I love you?" Levi asked with a silly smile.

"Not since dinner," Nadja mumbled as her eyes started welling up with tears.

Levi gently shook his head, "I can't believe it. I'm sorry, Nadja."

"It's alright; no one's perfect," she played along. Levi took the ring and the bracelet out of the box then gently took a hold of her left hand. He released it and Nadja held it there while he wrapped the bracelet around her wrist.

"Well," he said, "I love you, Nadja."

"I love you too," Nadja answered with a gentle smile as Levi secured the bracelet. They smiled at one another for a moment in contented silence before Levi finally spoke again.

"Nadja Rimsa," Levi said and slipped the ring on Nadja's left ring finger, completing the set, "will you marry me?"

"Yes," Nadja answered without hesitation as tears finally started to fall down her cheeks. She fell into his arms wrapping her arms around his neck as he stood so he could lay her down on the bed coming on top of her. Levi pressed a kiss to her lips that quickly became passionate and packing their bags fell to the backburner in favor of losing themselves in one another.

Grades were posted shortly after finals week and Evalynn almost jumped for joy when she saw her grades: straight A's. The eight long years of late nights, hard studying, internships and sleepless nights had finally paid off and she'd gotten through Med School. She'd received her cap and gown – both black with two black velvet lines down the front of the gown on three bands of black velvet lines on the top of each sleeve – and a hunter green shawl and tassel. The morning of the graduation felt like a circus. All her great grandparents (Heidi, Dmitri, Afton and Chelsea), her grandparents (Dante, Amadora, Jacob and Renesmee), her parents, her uncle Kevin, aunt Amber, Levi, Nadja, Heather and Embry were there with William in tow, Caleb and Ashley were there – it was a huge crowd in her tiny apartment as she was getting ready. She hadn't expected Shyann to come, but she was still sad not to see her.

"How's Shyann doing?" Evalynn asked Kyle while she was putting on her graduation gown. "We keep missing each other when we try calling each other over the phone." Kyle didn't immediately answer her and she noticed his silence right away, "Daddy?"

"Sorry, I didn't hear you," Kyle lied and then said, "what was your question?"

"I asked how Shyann is doing," Evalynn said.

"She's doing alright," Kyle said. "She still lives in Port Angeles. She got a new job not too long ago."

"That's great!" Evalynn smiled. "What's she up to these days?"

"She works at a nightclub," Kyle said.

"Sounds right up her alley," Evalynn smiled. "Do you suppose she'd mind if I visited her where she works?"

"I would recommend calling first just to be sure," Kyle answered. "Right now let's worry about your graduation."

The whole family finally left the apartment going to the school. Evalynn went to join her peers while her family found places to sit. Heidi, Dmitri, Afton and Chelsea needed to wear turtlenecks, hats and gloves to make sure they remained covered from the light and they took seats towards the back so their hats weren't blocking anyone's view while the remaining family members sat further up. Evalina was closer to the front with her last name placing her towards the front of the group. Some alumni and professors gave motivational speeches congratulating the graduates for their hard work and wishing them luck in their future endeavors before they were told to stand one row at a time to come up and accept their diplomas.

"Evalynn Black," the Dean said from the podium and Evalynn walked up to shake his hand and accept her diploma while looking at the crowd knowing her family was taking pictures. She stepped down from the stage going back to her row and sat back down once all the people in her row had returned to their seats.

Once all the students received their diplomas, the Dean gave some final words congratulating the Class of 1978 and the graduates and their families applauded while the graduates threw their caps into the air in a celebratory display. Evalynn talked to her peers as she moved through the crowd of people while her family reconvened and waited for her to reach them. When she did, she went straight to Kyle and gave him a big hug.

"I'm so proud of you, Evalynn," Kyle said.

"Thanks, dad," Evalynn said and hugged him tighter. She moved on to her mother then got to Kevin giving him a hug.

"You're still going to Law School?" Kevin asked as he was hugging Evalynn.

"Yup," Evalynn said, "I'm scheduled to take my LSATs on Wednesday. Hopefully I pass."

"You will," Kevin said. "If you want it, there'll be a spot at my firm waiting for you when you graduate."

"Let the girl relax a little before you start pressuring her, Kevin," Kyle said but he was smiling.

"She's outshined me enough, Uncle Kevin; don't make it worse," Caleb said with a playful smile and came to give his big sister a hug. "Congratulations, Evalynn. Only three more years of hell left."

"May God have mercy on my soul," Evalynn joked.

"If anyone can do it, you can," Heather said as she got closer to give Evalynn a hug with William swaddled in a blanket between them.

They all went out for dinner that night and, as an additional celebration, Evalynn took those that wanted to go with her to The Marmalade Bar. Amber agreed to stay behind and look after William returning to the hotel while all the grandparents and great grandparents returned to the apartment. Dante and Amadora returned to the hotel they were staying at and Kevin, Kyle, Evalina, Caleb, Ashley, Levi, Nadja, Heather and Embry joined Evalynn at The Marmalade Bar. Knowing it was her graduation day, the Queens and Kings had a field day with her bringing her on stage, performing with her and showing Evalynn an especially good time. It was also a great way for Nadja and Levi to celebrate their engagement although they ensured that did not overshadow Evalynn's graduation.

"Dad," Caleb said to Kyle while Evalynn was on stage with one of the kings singing, "Why didn't you tell Evalynn about Shyann working at a strip club?"

"Because this is her day," Kyle said. "I'm not going to ruin her graduation by troubling her with Shyann's misadventures. She's got her LSATs coming up and she needs to be able to focus. We can tell her when her future isn't on the line."

"So wait until she's back in Washington?" Caleb asked.

"Yes," Kyle said. "She's been stressed out for months. The last thing she needs is to stress herself over something she can't control."

"Good thing the two of them keep missing each other," Heather said. "I can't imagine Evalynn would blow up about it but she won't be happy. That's for sure."

"They're just friends so it's not as though Evalynn's really in a position to get upset with her," Nadja said.

"Regardless, no one bring it up around Evalynn," Evalina said.

Everyone at the table agreed they'd remain quiet on the topic and for the rest of the night they had a good time and never brought it up again. When they all returned home, Nadja finally called her parents to tell them about the engagement. Maritza was thrilled to hear Levi proposed and promised she would get to work setting something up with the Synagogue in London assuming they wanted a ceremony there. That was the one thing Nadja did insist upon: she wanted the wedding in London. Levi was happy to oblige but they still needed to have a Quileute ceremony especially since Levi was Kevin's heir. They agreed they would have a moon ceremony closer to when they would have their ceremony in London. The Quileute ceremony would be for everyone while their ceremony in London would be limited to anyone that wanted to go. Most likely just family.

The Wednesday after her graduation, Evalynn walked into the testing facility where the LSATs were being held. She'd spent months studying and even went to tutoring sessions to make sure she was prepared but she was still a little nervous. She was so burnt out she worried she might bomb the test from pure exhaustion, but she kept reminding herself to drop the defeatist attitude. She was prepared, she knew she was prepared and she couldn't let the nerves get to her. Heidi made Evalynn a giant breakfast that morning with a big cup of coffee to make sure she was alert and it helped to keep her focused through the whole test. She finished the test with twenty minutes to spare and went through to test double checking her answers but ran out of time halfway through checking. She handed in her test along with the others and they were all promised they'd have the results in about three or four weeks.

"Four weeks? Are you serious?" Caleb said when Evalynn told him. She'd called him that evening and the first thing he asked was 'how did you do?'

"Yeah, I'm afraid so," Evalynn said. "I didn't get to check all my answers like I was hoping, but I think I passed. I need a 175 or more."

"What's the best score you can get?"

"180," Evalynn said.

"That's probably what you'll get then," Caleb said.

"Don't jinx me," Evalynn smiled.

"That sucks though: going that long without knowing the results. Don't let the anticipation ruin your trip back home."

"I won't," Evalynn said. "I still need to find out when Shyann's free. I keep missing her and I wanted to make sure I see her while I'm home."

Caleb was quiet a moment before saying, "Look, Evalynn; there's something you should know."

"What? Is everything okay?"

"Everything's fine I guess," Caleb said and rubbed the back of his head. "Before I say anything, the only reason dad didn't say anything was because he wanted you to focus on your test and didn't want to ruin your graduation day. Anyway, when he'd told you Shyann was working at a nightclub, he was only telling you part of the truth."

"What are you talking about?" Evalynn asked.

"For the past several months, Shyann's been working at a place called Risqué," Caleb said. "It's a strip club." After Caleb told her, there was another silence that hung in the air.

"I see," Evalynn finally said. Her gut reaction was to be livid. The idea of being a stripper, to her, was so degrading and trashy. However, she thought about it and calmed herself down. For starters, she reminded herself, she and Shyann were not in a relationship. She had no business telling Shyann what she could and couldn't do. "I guess that sounds like the sort of thing she might enjoy."

"Are you okay?" Caleb asked.

"No, but what can I do?" Evalynn said. "Thank you for telling me. At least now I know. I suppose I won't be popping in on her at work."

"I mean….you could if you really wanted to," Caleb said, trying to lighten the mood. "You've been to so many drag shows, maybe it's time to go to a gentlemen's club and see a real woman perform for a change."

Evalynn managed a small smile, "I appreciate the sentiment but I'm not really interested in that sort of thing."

"If it's worth anything, she's not seeing anyone," Caleb said, "At least not as far as I'm aware. From what I've heard, she's got a few friends from work but that's about it."

"I guess I'll know for sure once I come home," Evalynn said. "Thanks for telling me, Caleb."

"Any time," Caleb said.

During all this, Boss and Freddie had Ahiga training like crazy. Boss kept saying he'd tell Ahiga what was up when there was something to tell but after a month of hearing that, he was getting worried. Freddie was being really tight lipped about it too, so he couldn't force information out of the man. After training one evening, Ahiga returned home and went to Saraya's room first. She was in her crib already asleep. He reached into her crib to gently rub her belly and she kicked her feet but stayed asleep otherwise much to his relief. Then Ahiga went into the bedroom and found Nesia in bed reading with Tina at her feet curled up in a ball.

"How was Saraya today?" Ahiga asked.

"A little stinker," Nesia smiled. "I couldn't put her down for a second without her starting to cry so I'm sorry if the house is a bit of a mess."

"Do you want me to clean up a bit before we go to bed?" Ahiga asked.

"No, it's alright," Nesia said.

"Don't we have a…..what is that thing called? It's that strap thing that goes around your chest to hold her?"

"It's a baby wrap," Nesia smiled, "And I know for a fact we do but can I find it? No, of course not. I searched the house up and down for that thing. I think it's actively avoiding me."

"I doubt it's sentient, Nesia," Ahiga teased with a light chuckle. "I'll tell you what – I'll take a shower and once I'm out I'll look for it."

"Thank you," Nesia smiled. "She's a month old but I still have pregnancy brain."

"I think it might just be 'parent' brain honestly," Ahiga said and leaned over on the bed to give her a kiss. "I'll be quick okay?"

Nesia nodded and Ahiga went into the bathroom to take a shower. Once he was clean and in fresh boxers, Ahiga started searching the house for the baby wrap practically tearing the house apart for it until he found something unusual in Tina's cat bed. He realized it was a long ribbon of fabric that he recognized as the wrap Nesia has worn to secure Saraya to her chest. He grabbed the wrap and brought it upstairs holding it up so Nesia could see it.

"You found it?! Where was it?" she asked. Ahiga glanced at Tina.

"Tina here thought the baby wrap belonged to her and she stole it and put it in her cat bed," Ahiga said.

"Oh," Nesia said, "Well no wonder I couldn't find it." Ahiga walked over and patted Tina's butt making her meow and start stretching.

"Stupid cat," Ahiga said with a hint of affection. "Do you want me to throw this in the washing machine?"

"No, I'll wash it by hand in the morning," Nesia said and took the wrap. "I can't believe I haven't asked yet; how was training today?"

"Great," Ahiga said and crawled into bed with her, "Boss still hasn't told me what he's been hiding."

"He's probably trying to put together a really big fight but doesn't want to get your hopes up if it doesn't pan out for some reason," Nesia said and rubbed her hand over Ahiga's strong chest. "Maybe he's trying to arrange another fight out of state. Maybe even out of the country."

"I wouldn't count on that last one," Ahiga smiled and took a hold of Nesia's hand so he could kiss her palm. "Maybe a fight in Mexico, but that's as far as I'd guess."

"I think going to Mexico for a fight would be a lot of fun," Nesia said.

"Boss hasn't been yelling at me to get a passport so I doubt he's arranging something out of the US," Ahiga said. He rolled over on the bed and gave her a kiss. "Let's get to bed while we still can."

Nesia smiled and turned off the light so they could go to sleep. Saraya was awake about an hour later and started crying. Nesia was eventually woken up by Saraya's cries and went to her room to change her and cuddle with her until she went back to sleep. Another three hours later Saraya was awake again and this time Ahiga woke up when he heard her cry. He'd hoped she just needed to be changed and wanted to cuddle but after changing her and trying to sooth her, Saraya was still crying and Nesia ended up waking up. She came into Saraya's room and took her from Ahiga so she could feed her. Ahiga and Nesia stayed in Saraya's room together until she finished eating and finally went back to sleep. By the next morning, Ahiga had barely gotten any sleep and went into the lumber mill half asleep and when he came back home that evening, he was still tired and took a nap on the couch with Saraya on his chest.

"Ahiga," Freddie said with a big smile on his face just as Ahiga was stepping into the gym. "Once you're settled go to Boss's office. He needs to talk to you."

"Sure. Is everything okay?" Ahiga asked.

"Sure is," Freddie said, patted Ahiga's shoulder, and then went to the ring to get some things ready. Ahiga went to the locker room, changed and locked up then walked to Boss's office. The door was slightly ajar and he could hear Boss from inside.

"I'm about to tell him," Boss said, still on the phone. "You're coming, right?" There was a brief silence. "Trust me; you'll love Chicago. If it weren't so fucking expensive, I'd move there." Another silence and then Boss chuckled a little. "I've been swearing my whole life – a little late to stop me. When we get a chance, we'll go to The Berghoff, just you and me. It's a German restaurant on Adams St – you'll like it." Finally, Ahiga gently knocked on Boss's door.

"Boss? You wanted to talk to me?" Ahiga said and stepped in.

"Yeah, I did," Boss said to Ahiga and then said to whoever he was talking to on the phone, "I'll call you back later." There was a brief silence and Boss smiled. "Sure thing. Bye," Boss said and then hung up the phone.

"You running away to Chicago or something?" Ahiga teased.

"We all are," Boss said. "I landed you a fight in Chicago for August. Kent O'Connell is his name. He's an up and coming Middle Weight who's earned a good name for himself and his coach was putting his feelers out for new competitors. I threw your name out there, he liked your resume and Kent wants to fight you."

"That's awesome," Ahiga smiled. "What's the earning?"

"Winner gets $7000," Boss said.

"Not half bad," Ahiga said with a smirk. "O'Connell can consider his challenge accepted."

"I'll let him know," Boss said. "We need to stay long enough to enjoy the city. I haven't been to Chicago in a while so I'd like to enjoy it."

"Sure thing," Ahiga said. "So who are you planning to bring?" he continued with a teasing tone, but Boss seemed to go a little stiff a moment.

"I wasn't planning to bring anyone," Boss said.

"Who were you talking to before I got in here? Someone out of state you were planning to visit?" Ahiga guessed.

"Yeah," Boss quickly agreed and nodded his head, "Yeah, just an old fling from back in the day. I knew her when I served in Nam – me a young and dumb soldier, her a Greenie with half a brain. You know how it goes."

"I'm glad you're nicer to her face than you are behind her back," Ahiga joked with a smile. "You're not messing around with a married woman are you?"

"Relax, kid, she's not married," Boss said and then walked over trying to shove him out of the office. "Get training; O'Connell's no pushover and the last thing you want is to get the wind knocked out of you in the Windy City."

Boss got Ahiga out of his office and they both walked to the ring so Ahiga could practice with Freddie. When Ahiga returned home, he was prepared to tell Nesia the good news, but she was out cold with Saraya on their bed beside her also sleeping on top of a little purple blanket. Ahiga took Saraya to her room placing her in her crib for the night and stayed in her room for a bit to make sure she stayed asleep.

"Daddy's fighting in Chicago, Saraya. Are you excited?" Ahiga asked her but naturally she didn't respond. "I know I'm excited," Ahiga smiled and gently rubbed Saraya's tiny belly. "Sleep tight, baby girl," he whispered then left the room so he could go take a shower.

Ahiga told Nesia about the fight in the morning before going to work and he told Haseya later that afternoon. She was excited for him and asked if he minded if she joined them in Chicago which Ahiga was happy to have her with them.

Evalynn flew into Washington the weekend after she'd taken her LSAT. She'd done everything in her power not to stew over what Caleb had told her about Shyann's employment and did her best not to let it bother her, but she couldn't help herself. Once her gut reaction of being upset had passed, it was worry that took over. She kept thinking back to their road trip and the motel in Las Vegas. After that, she couldn't understand why Shyann would ever want to work as a stripper. She knew Shyann was doing this because she wanted to. She wouldn't be working there otherwise. When she landed, Kyle, Evalina, Caleb and Ashley were there to pick her up and drove her home.

"Welcome home, Evalynn," Kyle said and gave her a hug. Evalina welcomed and hugged her next, then Evalynn hugged Caleb.

"How was your flight?" Caleb asked and released her.

"Long," Evalynn said. "Honestly, I just want to go home and sleep."

"After taking a test immediately after graduating, I bet you're exhausted," Ashley said and gave Evalynn a hug.

"Caleb said you won't have the results for another four weeks?" Evalina asked.

"Three or four," Evalynn said. "It's fine; I've got everything squared away with my counselors so unless I got lower than a 175 on the LSAT, everything will be fine. I don't suppose Shyann knows I'm in town does she?"

"I haven't talked to her," Caleb said and then looked at Kyle and Evalina, both of whom shook their heads saying they haven't talked to her either. "It's okay, Evalynn. We can always call her later. The spare bedroom's ready for you."

"I appreciate that," Evalynn said and they all got into the car together to drive back to the tribe.

When they got back to Caleb's and Ashley's house, their parents stayed for dinner to catch up but Evalynn was in bed by nine wiped out from the day. She woke up early the next morning around 5. She was tempted to call Shyann then and there, but figured she was still in bed and refrained. Shyann always seemed to call around 2 Western time so Evalynn kept herself busy with Caleb and Ashley until then. When she did call, she felt anxious as she waited for Shyann to answer the phone.

"Hello?" Shyann said when she answered the phone.

"Shyann, it's Evalynn," Evalynn said.

"Evalynn? Holy shit! It's nice to finally hear from you! I heard you graduated. Congratulations!"

"Thanks," Evalynn said, smiling at the sound of her voice. "I took the LSATs this past Wednesday so unless I didn't pass, I'll be starting Law School in the fall."

"Couldn't just be a doctor and call it a day could you?" Shyann teased. "So are you back home?"

"Yeah; I arrived yesterday. I'm in town for the next two weeks. I thought maybe we could hang out some time," Evalynn said.

"Definitely," Shyann said. "I'm working tonight but you're welcome to come by and see me. I started working at Risqué. It's a club in Port Angeles."

"Yeah, I heard," Evalynn said. She almost said no but she couldn't help herself. "I've never been to a strip club so I'm curious what it's like."

"It's what you'd expect, honestly," Shyann giggled. "My shift starts at seven, so come by anytime tonight. We're open until 2 in the morning. And don't worry about men being grabby. There are bouncers and I've seen them pick grown-ass men over their heads and toss them out by force, so you've got nothing to worry about."

"Good to know," Evalynn said. "In that case, I'll see you tonight."

"Can't wait. Miss you!"

"Miss you too," Evalynn said as a smile crept over her face and the two of them hung up.

"Do you want Ashley and I to come with you?" Caleb asked.

"No, I'll go myself," Evalynn said. "Can I burrow your car?"

"Sure," Caleb said.

Later that evening, Evalynn showered and got herself ready to leave for Port Angeles. Were she going clubbing anywhere else, she'd wear her tube top or a scarf top or anything more provocative, but given where she was going, she stuck with a one piece blue jean jumpsuit with cap sleeves that secured up to her collarbone. She wore her high, thick heeled shoes hoping her height would be intimidating, curled her hair to be presentable and kept her makeup to the bare minimum of gloss and a layer of concealer. Then she got in Caleb's car and made the nearly hour long drive to Port Angeles searching for the address she'd found in the phonebook. Of course, she knew she was getting close when she saw bikers and groups of men out smoking, drinking and standing around talking. She finally found a neon sign spelling Risqué in cursive letters and another neon sign below that reading 'Girls! Girls! Girls!'. She found a parking space further away from the building and the moment she stepped out of the car, she was being cat-called on her way in. When she made it to the front door, there was a bouncer sitting on a stool reading an addition of The Amazing Spider Man.

"Hey," Evalynn said so the bouncer would look up at her.

He looked her up and down briefly then said, "Did you have an interview with Bob, miss?"

"No," Evalynn shook her head, "No, I'm here to see a friend. Shyann Barker?"

"Oh, right," the bouncer said and stood from his seat, "Sorry, she told me to expect you. Can I see your ID?"

"I wasn't planning to drink anything," Evalynn said but still pulled out her ID and handed it over.

"Just in case," the bouncer said and looked over her ID. Once he was satisfied, he handed it back. "Alright, you're all set, miss. Have a good time."

The bouncer opened the door for her so she could step inside and the inside of the club was about what she expected: a big stage that jutted out through the center of the room lined with blue lights. There were two poles on the stage, one towards the center and another towards the end of the stage both of which currently had two girls dancing in high-waisted panties, thigh high fishnet stockings, one wore a bra and the other was topless with black heart pasties. Evalynn walked further into the club feeling eyes on her as she walked past everyone going to the bar for lack of anywhere else to go. Once she was sitting at the bar, just about every man sitting there was staring at her and she felt extremely uncomfortably. The man behind the bar, a man with a thick graying beard wearing a flannel shirt walked over to her.

"You waiting for an interview with Bob?" the man asked.

"No," Evalynn said. "A friend of mine invited me. She works here."

"What's her name?"

"Shyann Barker," Evalynn answered.

"I see," the man said with a nod. "Nice girl. Wouldn't think it by looking at her. Don't know when she's on but I can get you a drink while you wait. What'll you have?"

"What's the strongest you got?" Evalynn asked jokingly but she was being completely serious. With all the eyes on her, she decided she could use a little booze to help her relax if only a little.

"My dick," a guy sitting next to her said and started laughing.

"Shut it Gable," the bartender said. "I've got Everclear if you can hold your liquor."

"That might be a bit much," Evalynn said. She wouldn't normally ask, but she was so ill at ease she needed something comforting so she asked for the most childish alcoholic drink she could think of. "I don't suppose I could be a brat and ask for a Brandy Alexander or something could I?"

"With heavy cream or ice cream?" he asked.

"Ice cream," Evalynn said, "I mean, otherwise what's the point?"

The bartender chuckled, "Good girl," then grabbed a tall glass and got to work on her cocktail. She wasn't even mad he called her 'good girl'. He seemed like the big softy type anyway. She heard the sound of a blender from behind the bar then he came back with the glass filled to the brim with the drink and topped it with cinnamon. "There you go, honey. Brandy Alexander."

"I appreciate it," Evalynn said and accepted the drink. "What was your name by the way?"

"Name's Larry," the bartender answered. "What's yours?"

"Evalynn," she answered and even shook his hand.

"Pleasure to make your acquaintance, young lady. Did you want to keep your tab open?"

"Sure," Evalynn said.

Larry walked away to assist other patrons and Evalynn turned on the stool so she was looking at the stage. The dancers that had been on stage before were gone and another pair of girls had come on stage. Neither were Shyann though, so Evalynn continued to wait while trying to enjoy her drink and relax. With so many eyes on her, though, it was really difficult to relax. She wouldn't normally be bothered with so many eyes on her. It was the fact they were gawking at her that bothered her.

"Interesting place to come to pick up men," a guy said right beside her and Evalynn looked at the man in question.

"I'm not here to pick up men," Evalynn said. "I'm here with a friend of mine."

"Oh yeah?" the man answered. "I'll tell you what: let me pay for your drink and I'll keep you company while you wait for your friend."

"It's fine; I'll pay for my drinks," Evalynn said.

"Oh no," the man chuckled, "the independent type I see."

"Staunchly," Evalynn said.

"Rob," Larry said and Evalynn looked over her shoulder as did the man standing by her, "She ain't interested. Move along."

"What, are you her dad now?" Rob asked.

"I said move along, Rob," Larry said and finally Rob walked away begrudgingly. Evalynn smiled at the man mixed between appreciation and admitted irritation.

"You didn't have to do that," Evalynn said.

"It's fine," Larry said. "It is technically part of my job to make these boys keep their hands to themselves."

"Well, I appreciate it," Evalynn said. "The drink is fantastic by the way."

"Glad to hear it. Let me know if you want another one," Larry said and then walked away to assist another customer.

Evalynn waited another ten minutes sipping on her drink and watching the half-naked women dancing on stage. Finally, those dancers stepped off the stage and not long after, two more girls came on. This time, Shyann was one of them and when Evalynn saw her, her blood boiled. She sauntered out on stage with a bright smile and there were men in the crowd that seemed to favor her because they practically dove for the stage hoping to get her attention. Shyann was in a black corset laced up with pink and her breasts were heaving out with her nipples only barely remaining covered. She had on a pink thong and black stiletto heels. She blew a kiss to her regulars before starting her routine but she didn't seem to see Evalynn. Given she was likely blinded by the spotlight, it was understandable.

Evalynn took several deep breaths trying to ease her furry. She'd never experienced such a fit of jealousy before and she didn't like it. In keeping with the music that had been playing thus far, KISS came onto the speakers singing Calling Doctor Love. Evalynn watched as Shyann spun around the pole doing interesting tricks rather than just spinning around. She actually got onto the pole with her slender muscles flexing as she pulled herself up. She kept herself on the pole with only her thighs and slowly spun around at first then got faster as she was slowly sliding down. Once she got to the bottom, the men cheered for her and she stayed on her hands and knees accepting their money. Evalynn quickly realized why they liked her so much: each and every man she came across, she gave them a big smile, gently touched their hands as she took their money and even said 'thank you'. Some of them, she said, 'Thank you, daddy'. When Evalynn heard that one, she shivered a little.

Shyann finished out the song with money shoved into her panties from every angle and wads of cash in her hands and she walked off the stage blowing another kiss to the patrons and kicking her foot up behind her so the back of her stiletto touched her butt cheek which, for some reason, made them all go nuts. Shyann's eyes wandered up in Evalynn's direction. She wasn't sure how she managed it, but Evalynn smiled at her and lifted her glass to her. Shyann smiled back and waved at her then started running off the stage rather than walking. She went to the back through some swinging double doors and Evalynn waited nearly twenty minutes for Shyann to come back out. She'd changed into a pair of short shorts and a black tube top and she had her hair down and wavy. She'd let it grow out quite a bit.

"You came!"

"I said I would," Evalynn smiled and sipped her drink.

"What are you having?"

"It's a Brandy Alexander."

"Oh, I love those," Shyann said and took the straw with her lips getting a sip before Evalynn took pulled the drink away.

"None for you," Evalynn said, "least of all when you're on the clock."

"I'm not on the clock," Shyann said with a wink and a small laugh. "I'd told Bob I was having a friend come by and he said I could have the rest of the night off once you got here. I got a few dances in and I'm about $400 richer for the night."

"That's…..pretty good," Evalynn said weakly.

"It's better than 'pretty good' – it's two month's rent and then some," Shyann smirked. "Larry!" Shyann called out and got the bartender's attention, "How much is the Brandy Alexander? Evalynn's drink is on me!"

"It's $4," Larry said.

"Bleeding these poor bastards dry are you, Larry?" Shyann teased as she pulled four singles out of her purse and offered them to Larry.

"Don't give me that shit kid," Larry said with a chuckle as he accepted the money, "These guys get $1 beers so I'm sorry if the specialty drinks are a little pricy. Did you want another drink seeing as your friend's paying?"

"Just the Brandy Alexander," Evalynn smiled. Larry walked away to attend to another patron and Evalynn looked at Shyann catching her drinking more of the Brandy milkshake. "I didn't say you could have more."

"I just bought it for you; that entitles me to another sip of your drink I'd say," Shyann said with a playful smile and took another sip through the straw.

"Alright, you've had enough," Evalynn said as she took the straw away and brought it around to her lips so she could have her drink. "Once I finish my drink, let's get going."

"You don't want to see a few more dances?" Shyann asked. Evalynn glanced up at the stage. There was a topless woman on stage at the moment swaying along with the music and the men were shoving dollar bills into her thong. She was a pretty girl, sure, but the whole thing felt so cheap.

"Not really, no," Evalynn said, "I'd rather finish this and go somewhere else."

"We'll go back to my place. I've got booze stocked to the nines," Shyann smiled.

"Barely past 18 and you've already got a stocked bar," Evalynn sighed heavily.

"You bet your ass I've got a stocked bar," Shyann said. "I've even got the fixings to make you a Gin Fizz if you want."

"I might just take you up on that," Evalynn said and made quick work of the last of her Brandy Alexander, giving no care to the brain freeze she was developing. Once it was gone, she put the glass on the bar and hopped off the stool. "I drove my little brother's car here. So I'll follow you to your place?"

"Works for me," Shyann said and the two of them walked out of the club together. There were a few men outside waiting to come in and they started cat calling at Shyann. While Evalynn was mortified and annoyed, Shyann turned and blew a kiss to the cat callers and winked at them before waving goodbye to them.

"You shouldn't encourage them," Evalynn said.

"Those men are paying customers, Evalynn. If I don't encourage them, I don't get their money: simple as that," Shyann said and ran ahead a little so she could look at Evalynn while she walked backwards. "Besides," she continued, "I like the attention." Shyann turned around and went to her car standing by the driver's side door. "Where's your car?"

"It's that one," Evalynn said, pointing at Caleb's car in the corner.

"I'll back out and wait for you. Just follow me once you're behind me, okay?"

Shyann got into her car and turned it on then backed out of the space all while Evalynn was walking to her little brother's car. She got in, backed out of the space and got behind Shyann then followed her once she started driving. They made it to an apartment complex about ten minutes later and Evalynn parked next to Shyann in the lot. The two of them went into the building and Shyann guided Evalynn to her ground floor unit opening the door dramatically once they'd arrived.

"Welcome to my humble domain," Shyann said as she held the door open for Evalynn.

She walked into the apartment taking in the space. It felt like Shyann. There were movie posters and band posters all over the walls like Queen, David Bowie, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Meatloaf's Bat Out of Hell, the Halloween movie poster, The Exorcist was there as was Alien and so much more. Her couch was bright yellow and atop it was a blanket of the Arizona flag, the shag carpet was green and absolutely hideous. The kitchen was off to one corner behind where Shyann had her couch positioned and there was an enormous glass cabinet in the living room with booze up on every shelf as well as one shelf devoted to just the glasses. That wasn't what shocked her, though. What shocked her is there was a stripper pole in the center of the room.

"Why do you have a stripper pole in here?" Evalynn asked.

"So I can practice my routines," Shyann said. "You don't think I make the money I do because I shake my ass and spin around the pole lazily do you? No! I give them a damn good show and I get rewarded handsomely for it."

"I wouldn't think they care," Evalynn said.

"Oh no, they do," Shyann said. "They don't know it, but they do. Men love watching me bend in ways most people can't do. It gives them more to fantasize over."

"I guess," Evalynn said hesitantly. Shyann took in Evalynn's tone feeling the sting of her lack of enthusiasm.

"How about I make you that gin fizz?" Shyann finally said and went to her liquor cabinet to grab the bottles she needed then brought those to her kitchen counter to mix the drink. "So are you excited to start Law School?"

"Assuming I passed the LSATs, yes, I'm really excited," Evalynn said.

"Oh shut up – you passed," Shyann responded and poured the club soda over the gin and ice in the Tom Collins glasses. Shyann finished mixing the cocktails then brought them to the living room handing Evalynn one of the glasses. She tapped her glass against Evalynn's saying, "Cheers to starting Law School," then took a sip of her drink. Evalynn took a sip of her own. "So you're here all summer?"

"Yeah," Evalynn said, "until August."

"Good, good," Shyann said. "We need to go to another drag show together. That was a blast. In the meantime," Shyann continued as a smirk played over her face, "I actually have a date on Tuesday night."

"What?" Evalynn asked as she did her best to keep her voice composed. Regardless, Shyann noticed the surprise and felt a mild satisfaction that she'd taken Evalynn off guard.

"I have a date on Tuesday," Shyann smiled. "She's not really your type. She's a bit butch but oh my God! She's so cute! She's got this short pixie haircut, she's brunette, pale as can be but that's fine. She's got tattoos all over her arms and she's got a pierced tongue too. I'll ask her if she's got a friend and we'll go on a double date."

"I don't do blind dates," Evalynn said irritably despite her efforts at composure.

"Oh come on, Evalynn! It'll be fun! She's taking me to this bar called Lucille's and Tuesday's supposed to be ladies' night so our first drink is free!"

"Really, Shyann, I'm not interested in-"

"Please, Evalynn?" Shyann asked and even started looking at her all pitiful with puppy dog eyes. "I'm excited for the date but the truth is I don't know her very well and I'd love it if I could have someone with me I trust. It's only fair to make sure you have a date." Evalynn stared at Shyann a moment dazzled by those dark eyes of hers and how she seemed to make them sparkle on command.

She sighed heavily, "Fine."

"You won't regret it; I promise," Shyann said and took a swig of her drink. Then she said, "Hold on; I'll call her now," then went to her phone. She searched the counter a second until she found a small piece of paper and dialed the number on it. Another moment later, someone answered. "Hey Rachael," Shyann said in sugary sweet voice. "Yeah, I know; I'm sorry to call so late, but I wanted to ask a favor for our date on Tuesday." Another moment of silence passed and Shyann giggled. "Yes, I'm calling for a favor already. A friend of mine's in town and I thought it would be fun to have a double date. I don't suppose you've got a friend that would like to go on a date with a stunning woman fresh out of Med School and starting Law School in the fall?" Shyann was quiet again for a moment and her smile brightened. "Don't say things like that – that's so mean." Another moment passed and Shyann giggled. "Her name's Evalynn." Another moment passed. "Thanks Rachael. What's your friend's name? Madison? Great. I'll tell her. We'll see you on Tuesday." Shyann put the phone back on the mount and smiled at Evalynn. "Your date's name is Madison."

"Alright," Evalynn said. "So what time are we meeting?"

"Six," Shyann said, "and it's a casual date so don't worry about putting on a dress or anything."

"Not a problem," Evalynn said and gulped down her drink until it was gone.

Shyann came over and took the glass, "I'll make you another drink."

Shyann went to the kitchen to make Evalynn another drink and she watched her the whole time. Evalynn wasn't eager for the date and she wasn't thrilled about Shyann seeing someone either. It was jealousy, plain and simple and Evalynn knew it. When Shyann handed Evalynn her drink, Evalynn looked into Shyann's eyes trying to figure out what to do. Shyann noticed the way Evalynn was looking at her. It made her heart flutter and she felt butterflies in her stomach. She wondered again if maybe Evalynn could see her romantically – see her as an equal and not just some dumb kid. Maybe Evalynn was attracted to her and Shyann just needed to take the reins and be assertive. Then Shyann got an idea and smiled.

"I've got a routine I've been working on and I'd love an opinion. Could I trouble you?"

"Sure," Evalynn answered quietly.

Shyann batted her lashes at Evalynn and put her drink on a little side table. She kicked off her shoes and went to her record player grabbing a Fleetwood Mac album putting it on the player and turning it on. Once the record was spinning, Shyann got the needle on the record going for a specific spot and had Go Your Own Way playing. Shyann went to the pole grabbing a hold of it and leaning away from it while she spun around. Once she'd made a full turn around the pole, she lifted her leg up behind her so her legs were fully split then brought that leg back around to wrap around the pole so she could spin around again with only her leg holding her up as she spun. She let go of the pole so she could do a cartwheel with no hands. She landed confidently on her feet falling into a split then brought her leg around so both legs were in front of her and she pulled herself up and started spinning on the pole starting slow then increasing in speed like an ice skater.

She was slowly lowering on the pole as she was spinning and eventually slowed enough that she could hold onto the pole while doing splits upside down so she'd come to a stop then lowered herself back onto the ground. This, Evalynn thought, was impressive. There was talent, muscle, and hard maneuvering required in what Shyann was doing and it was radically more impressive than what she'd been doing at the strip club. Shyann ended her routine by holding onto the pole lifting herself up and brought herself to the top of the pole and kept herself up using just her thigh muscles. Then she brought one calf down to stay on the pole bringing her other leg forward and bending her back so she could take hold of her foot creating a near perfect circle as the song tapered off. Evalynn applauded gently as Shyann came down and even pulled out her wallet to pull out a dollar bill and offered it to her. Shyann wandered over and accepted the money with a sultry smile that left Evalynn breathless for a moment.

"So what did you think?" Shyann asked.

"That was really good," Evalynn said in a gentle voice. "You really do routines like that at the strip club?"

"Yeah, I do," Shyann said with a smile. "When bills are due, that's when I really turn it up a notch."

"I bet," Evalynn said. Shyann went to the record player to turn the music down but left the music on then grabbed her drink before sitting down on the couch with Evalynn. "So this woman you're seeing Tuesday; how did you meet?"

"We met at Denny's after one of my shifts. She was waiting on my table. I thought she was cute so I took a chance and started flirting with her and by the end of my dinner we exchanged numbers."

"Does she know you're a stripper?" Evalynn asked. "For that matter, does she know you're not 21? It seems like poor taste to take you to a bar when you can't drink."

"Yes, she knows," Shyann said, "And relax, I've got an ID. No one has to be the wiser."

"For fuck's sake, Shyann," Evalynn sighed irritably.

"Relax, mama bear, everything will be fine. As for my job, she seems to be under the impression I'm only stripping to pay my way through college, but I haven't told her otherwise."

"I assume she's in college then?"

"Yes, she is," Shyann said.

"What's she studying?"

"If she told me, I don't remember," Shyann said with a shrug.

"Okay," Evalynn said hesitantly, "do you know anything about this friend you're setting me up with?"

"I don't know any more than you do," Shyann said, "but that's what makes it exciting."

Evalynn nodded but she wasn't sold on the prospect of this double date. She had no interest in this other woman but Evalynn kept it to herself. Shyann was excited for her date and Evalynn didn't want to burst her bubble but Evalynn realized she couldn't keep her feelings to herself anymore. Evalynn chugged her drink to give herself courage but as soon as she was about to speak, Shyann giggled and took Evalynn's glass.

"Let me make you another drink," Shyann said and got off the couch before Evalynn could talk.

That was how the rest of the night went. The two of them had drinks of Shyann's couch, Shyann showed Evalynn several of her routines until the alcohol finally got to Shyann's head and she was too tired to stay up anymore. Evalynn helped Shyann get to bed for the night and once Shyann was in bed, Evalynn went back out to the kitchen and found a notepad writing a quick note for Shyann to find in the morning before leaving the apartment and driving her brother's car back to his and Ashley's house. Afterwards, she shifted to a wolf ready to help the rest of the pack if they needed her, but her focus remained on Shyann and keeping watch over her apartment complex. She'd not been able to lock the door before leaving and she wanted to be sure nothing happened although, if she were being honest with herself, it was more so because she was frustrated.

The next day, Shyann didn't wake up until nearly 11 and was extremely disappointed when she realized Evalynn wasn't there. When she came out of her room and noticed the notepad was out, she went to it to read Evalynn's message.

Shyann,

Sorry I couldn't say goodbye before leaving. You were really tired and I wanted to make sure you got to bed. I'm staying at my brother's house while I'm visiting. I've got the number down below in case you don't already have it. We'll talk later – looking forward to Tuesday.

Evalynn

Below Evalynn's signature was the phone number to her brother's house but Shyann, aggravated, slapped the note down on the counter and went to her record player putting on a KISS album then going to her pole so she could exercise and get rid of her pent up annoyance.

The following day, Evalynn went out to Ada María's bar with Caleb and Ashley to have a few drinks. Ariel was behind the bar, Nadeshka was tending to tables cleaning and taking orders and Gabriel was by the entrance carding people before allowing entry and keeping watch over the bar. Around nine that night, the door to the bar opened and Gabriel turned to welcome the person that entered and ask for their ID, but it was Emma Leigh.

"Emma Leigh," Gabriel said and she smiled at him, "I didn't know you were coming."

"I wanted to surprise you," Emma Leigh answered and went on her toes while Gabriel lowered his head so they could kiss.

"Did you just leave the salon?"

"Yeah, I had my last client twenty minutes ago," Emma Leigh answered. "So listen, I went to the doctor during my lunch break."

"Why? Are you okay?" Gabriel asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine," she said, "I felt horrible this morning so I went to Kyle about some of that anti-nausea tea. I had a general exam while I was there and, well," Emma Leigh smiled sweetly before finishing with, "turns out I'm pregnant."

"You're…." Gabriel began but he was stunned. They'd wanted to start a family, but it just hadn't seemed like the right time. Emma Leigh wanted her own salon but when she'd accomplished that, she became so busy that any attempt at trying was put on the backburner. "It's for sure?"

"Yeah," Emma Leigh smiled, "it's for sure and the baby's growing fast just like you and I would so we don't really have much time to prepare-"

"There's plenty of time," Gabriel smiled and leaned down to give her another kiss before taking Emma Leigh into a tight hug. "Have you told anyone else yet?"

"No, just you," Emma Leigh said and Gabriel released her then took a hold of her face in both hands.

"We'll tell our parents and we can make sure everything's prepared for when the baby comes," Gabriel said and gave Emma Leigh another kiss. Nadeshka overheard the news and went to the bar grabbing Ariel's attention so she could tell him. He told Nadeshka to go get Ada María and then muted the TV hanging from the corner and ringing a bell on the bar so he had everyone's attention.

"Ladies, gentlemen," Ariel said and once he had the bar's attention and Ada María came out, he continued, "I'm very pleased to announce our favorite bouncer, Gabriel, and his wife are expecting a baby! So everyone, please have another drink on the house!"

All the patrons cheered while they looked at Gabriel and Emma Leigh both to congratulate them as well as showing appreciation for the round of free drinks. Ada María went into her office to call the house and tell Nathan and Emma Leigh called the Cullen house so she could tell her parents the news as well. When Scarlet heard the news the next morning, she called Jaedynn who called Ivory later in the afternoon to tell her the news once she got home from work. Within 24 hours, the whole tribe heard the news and in about the same amount of time, Emma Leigh was already starting to show. She would work until the belly couldn't be hidden anymore which would likely be Friday that week at best then she would take a week off from the Salon at which point Rosalie and Alice would help prepare the baby's room with everything they could possibly need.

Come Tuesday, Evalynn was really anxious for that night. She wasn't concerned with the woman she'd been set up with. She didn't even remember her name. She was concerned with Shyann. She'd not called Evalynn not even to follow up about their double date. When it was closer to the advised time, Evalynn called Shyann but she got her voicemail so she left a message saying she'd meet them at Lucille's. Evalynn kept her dress casual wearing bell bottom blue jeans and a navy blue short sleeved shirt. She wore a raincoat and brought her umbrella and asked to burrow Caleb's car again making her way to the bar. She found a parking spot and went inside going straight to the bar. There was a guy manning the bar but it took a while for him to finally make it over to her.

"What can I get you, miss?" the bartender asked once he finally came to her.

"I'll have a glass of Lambrusco," Evalynn said as she took out her ID and presented it. The bartender glanced at the ID, nodded and then grabbed a wine glass which he filled with the red wine then handed it to her.

"Will this be all or would you like to keep a tab open?" he asked.

"This'll be it," Evalynn said. "How much do I owe you?"

"$2," he said and Evalynn pulled out two singles handing them to the bartender along with two quarters for a tip. Evalynn took a sip of her wine and glanced at the entrance but Shyann wasn't there. She took another sip of wine and stared at it once the glass was back on the table. She gently spun the glass between her fingers looking over her shoulder when she heard the door open but Shyann wasn't among the people that came in.

"Are you expecting someone?" someone said and Evalynn looked up at a blonde woman with long braided hair, minimal makeup and a pink knee length dress.

"Yeah," Evalynn said, "I'm supposed to be on a blind double date tonight but my dates haven't arrived yet." She found a clock on the wall and saw it was 6:10. "They're late I'm afraid."

"Would you mind if I join you for a drink? I can keep you company while you wait," she said then offered Evalynn a hand. "Name's Maggie."

"Evalynn," she replied and shook Maggie's hand. "What'll you have? I'll pay for your drink."

Maggie smiled, "I'll have a vodka gimlet." Evalynn nodded and waived down the bartender so she could order Maggie her drink then paid once the bartender gave the price of the drink. Maggie took a sip of her drink then smiled. "Thank you."

"Consider it my thank you for keeping me company," Evalynn said and sipped her own drink. "So Maggie, what do you do for work?"

"I'm a dog groomer," Maggie answered. "You?"

"I'm a student," Evalynn said. "I just graduated from Medical School and now I'm waiting for the results of my LSATs. If I passed, I'll be going to Law School in the fall."

"No shit," Maggie smiled. "Where are you going to school?"

"Yale," Evalynn answered.

"Oh wow," Maggie said as he r brow rose, impressed. "So are you home for the summer?"

"Yeah, I am," Evalynn said.

"I assume you're studying to become a malpractice attorney?"

"Yes, I am," Evalynn said. "By chance, are you going to college or have you been?"

"No, I've not gone to college," Maggie said. "I'm afraid I didn't really have an option. I'd wanted to become a teacher and I'd still like to be one someday."

"What's stopping you?"

"A lack of funds," Maggie said, "but I'm saving up for it. Barring incident, I'll be able to start going to school next year."

"I wish you luck," Evalynn smiled and tapped her wine glass against Maggie's glass.

"Good luck in Law School," Maggie smiled.

"Assuming I passed the LSAT," Evalynn said.

"If you made it through Medical School, I'm sure you did," Maggie said.

Evalynn heard people coming into the bar and she looked over her shoulder. Shyann finally walked in with two other women. She could identify Shyann's date right away. She had short brown hair with sculpted brows and she wore a masculine dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up so her tattoos were visible. She really was cute Evalynn thought to herself, but definitely not her type. The woman that walked in with them was more clean cut. She had shoulder length brown hair, she wore bell bottom jeans and a flowing pink blouse. Shyann, despite what she'd told Evalynn about casual wear being the plan, was dressed in a short thigh high skirt and a red tank top without a bra on. Shyann's nipples were peaking through the fabric from the chill and Evalynn wasn't sure how she managed not to flip out at the sight of it.

"Are they who you're waiting for?" Maggie asked and Evalynn looked at her.

"Yeah, that's them," Evalynn said. "Thanks for keeping me company."

"My pleasure," Maggie smiled, "and hey; if things don't go well, come hit me up.

"Sure thing," Evalynn smiled and finished off her glass then turned on the barstool so she could hop off and approach the three women. Shyann noticed Evalynn approach and she patted the other woman's arm and pointed at Evalynn.

"Madison," Shyann said, "this is Evalynn Black. Evalynn, this is Madison Founders."

"It's a pleasure to meet you," Evalynn said to Madison and smiled pleasantly. Then she looked at the other woman. "I'm sorry, what was your name?"

"Rachael MacArthur," she answered. "Sorry if we kept you waiting long. We came to pick her up at a quarter to five, knock on her door and find out she's not ready."

"Stop, I didn't keep you waiting that long," Shyann said to Rachael and smiled gently. Then she looked at Evalynn and finally Evalynn realized Shyann was upset with her although she couldn't figure out what she was upset about.

"Let's find a table," Madison suggested and then looked at Evalynn with a smile. "I hear you just finished med school and are preparing for law school."

"Yes, I am," Evalynn said and the four of them finally went to an empty table taking a seat. Rachael asked them what they'd have and went to the bar with their drink orders leaving Shyann and Evalynn alone with Madison. Evalynn gave Shyann a critical look for ordering a high ball but Shyann just smiled at her defiantly. "So Madison," Evalynn said after taking a deep breath, "are you in school or working? Or both?"

"I work at Denny's but my passion is art," Madison said. "I do oil paintings and whenever I can, I display my artwork at Seattle Central College. Sometimes, I even get to sell my paintings."

"What do you usually paint?"

"Whatever tickles my fancy," Madison smiled. "If I can afford a model, I'll paint portraits but most of the time I paint nature scenes and objects."

"How much do your paintings go for?"

"It depends on the size and the subject. My most expensive piece was a 36x60 full scale nude," Madison said. "That sold for about $350."

"That's damn good," Evalynn said. "I'd love to see your artwork some time."

Madison smiled as she blushed, "I would love to show you. Right now I'm working on a painting of the botanical gardens but I've been dying to paint another portrait."

"Have you done commissioned work?" Evalynn asked.

"Twice before," Madison said. "It's good money, but I admit I far prefer to paint what I want rather than what a client wants."

"I can understand that," Evalynn said. Rachael finally came back with everyone's drinks putting them on the table then sitting down next to Shyann. "So Rachael," Evalynn said once she was sitting down, "you're in college right? What are you studying?"

"Culinary arts," Rachael said. "Shyann said you just graduated med school?"

"Yes, I did," Evalynn said.

"And she's attending Law School next," Madison said with a bright smile.

"Yes, I know – I'm the one who told you that," Rachael said and the two of them laughed. "I assume you want to be a malpractice attorney?"

"Yes, that's the plan," Evalynn said.

"Rachael," Shyann said, "what's your favorite dish to make?"

"Roasted chicken," Rachael said but Shyann looked surprised and a little disappointed.

"Is that it?"

"There's a lot to be said about a perfectly roasted chicken," Evalynn said. "Believe it or not, it's the simplest dishes that show off a chef's skills."

"Exactly," Rachael said with a smirk. "Do you have a favorite dish you like to make?"

"Not a dish per se but I love making pasta sauce," Evalynn said. "It's one of the first things my mom taught me how to make. It's actually the first thing she ever made for my dad when they were first dating too – pasta sauce with homemade pasta, but when she'd made it for him she'd bought sugar instead of salt."

"Oh no," Rachael said as she started laughing gently.

"Daddy was too nice to tell her it tasted horrible so instead he slathered his pasta in parmesan cheese to add some much needed salt."

"I assume your mother's Italian?"

"Mostly," Evalynn said. "Mom was raised in Volterra, Italy and met my father when he was stationed in Naples during the war."

"So your dad's a veteran?" Madison said.

"Yes," Evalynn said. "He was a medic for the American army. What about you? Are either of your parents veterans?" Evalynn asked Rachael and Madison.

"My dad was in the Air Force," Madison said.

"My dad was too young. I think he was still in high school during the war if I remember correctly," Rachael said. "Shyann, what about you?"

"My great uncle was in the army," Shyann answered but she was clearly not losing interest in the conversation and seemed to be getting really frustrated.

"Her uncle fought in the 2nd World War and in Korea as a matter of fact," Evalynn said. "These days, he's happily married to a man he met during the war."

"Your uncle's married to a man?" Madison asked with surprise and delight. "What state are they in?"

"Arizona," Shyann said and took a gulp of her drink. "They're not married according to the state. They're married according to the tribe. Gay marriage isn't so sorely frowned upon among either of our home tribes."

"I love open minded people," Madison smiled. "So Shyann, you're originally from Arizona?"

"Yeah," Shyann said. "I came to Washington for school and never went back."

"And what are you studying right now?" Rachael asked. "You're going to college right?"

"No," Shyann said, "I finished high school and that's good enough for me."

"Not everyone has to go to college, Rachael," Madison said playfully.

"I'm not saying everyone has to but why else would you be a stripper if it weren't to pay your way through college?" Rachael asked.

"It's something I'm good at and like to do," Shyann said, "Nothing wrong with that."

"I hear," Madison spoke up, "that pole dancing requires the use of muscles most people don't even know they have."

"Just by watching her perform, I can promise you I didn't know anyone could hold themselves up using just their thighs," Evalynn said. "Shyann can bend in ways you would never think the human body was capable of." Shyann looked at Evalynn and finally, the barest smile crossed her lips. "In fact, Shyann's quite the gymnast."

"Are you really?" Madison asked Shyann. "I used to do gymnastics when I was a kid but I wasn't very good at it."

"It's a well loved sport in my tribe," Shyann said.

"And they're damned good at it too," Evalynn said. Madison was impressed but Rachael clearly wasn't. In fact, Rachael was noticeably more interested in Evalynn and when she noticed, it soured her opinion of the woman.

"Do you suppose," Madison started, "I could ask either of you to model for me? You especially?" she said to Shyann. "Maybe I could photograph you in a few different positions to use as reference."

"Do your models receive commission or a flat rate?" Evalynn asked.

"I will pay them a flat rate for modeling then I give them 10% of what I earned from selling the painting they were featured in," Madison said.

"Well, in that case it might be worth it to give her as many positions as possible," Evalynn said to Shyann who shrugged with a light smile. They all finished their first drinks and Evalynn offered to pay for the next round. She left the table walking up to the bar and placed the orders with the bartender although she refused to order Shyann another high ball. Instead, she ordered a coke for her. While Evalynn was waiting for the bartender to come with the drinks, Rachael came up to her side. "Did you want a different drink?"

"No, I actually wanted to have a chance to talk to you," Rachael said.

"About?" Evalynn asked hesitantly.

"Nothing in particular," Rachael said with a smile. "I'm glad Shyann suggested you join us. It's a pleasure to meet you."

"It's good to meet you and your friend too," Evalynn said.

"Speaking of friends, how does a woman like you end up friends with a girl like Shyann?" Rachael asked.

Evalynn looked at her a moment then said, "Shyann and I met one year when I came home from school for a visit. She's spunky and full of life and I've always admired that about her."

"That's a nice way to say it," Rachael said and glanced at Shyann who was talking to Madison now.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Evalynn asked and Rachael looked at her again. Realizing she'd been offensive, she held her hands up.

"Forget I said anything," Rachael said. "So how long are you staying before you return to Connecticut?"

"I go back in August," Evalynn said, not bothering with any concern over test scores.

"Are you planning to return to Washington once you earn your law degree?"

"Yes, I am," Evalynn said and then four drinks were put in front of her. Evalynn took out her wallet but Rachael did to.

"It's on me," Rachael said and pulled out ten dollars handing it to the bartender and he confirmed he'd be right back with her change. "So how about you and I go out later this week? I've got a test on Friday so I took the day off for that night. Maybe you and I could have dinner together."

"Shouldn't you be asking Shyann?" Evalynn said.

"I'd rather ask you," Rachael said. "Shyann seems like a good time in the short term when the bed's cold, but I'm more interested in long term and you're more my type."

"Sorry, but you're not mine," Evalynn said bluntly.

"You like the indecisive straight girls I take it?"

"I like a woman that has the decency to not to hit on her date's friend before the night's even over," Evalynn said harshly. The bartender returned with Rachael's change and she accepted the money then put it in her wallet.

"Sorry," Rachael said, "looks like I misjudged you. Whatever; I'll just schmooze Shyann for the night and be done with it."

"If that's your attitude, I suggest you go tell Shyann you had a great time but it's not going to work, take Madison and piss off," Evalynn said.

Rachael stared at Evalynn a moment a little surprised and visibly offended before grabbing her drink and gulping it down. Once her drink was gone, she slammed the glass onto the bar and walked away. Evalynn's eyes followed after her as she walked to the table. She said something to Madison and when she saw the surprise on Madison's and Shyann's face. Madison stood as did Shyann who started yelling about Rachael being her ride home. Rachael seemed unsympathetic and took Madison away from the table as Shyann looked right at Evalynn. She knew if Shyann could shoot fire from her eyes, she'd do it now. Shyann stormed over and Evalynn chugged her drink having a sneaking suspicion she knew what was coming.

"What the hell did you say to her?!" Shyann demanded once she was standing before her.

"I refused her advances and told her if all she planned to do was fuck and dump you that she could take Madison and piss off," Evalynn said bluntly.

"Well, thanks be to my white fucking knight," Shyann said sarcastically. "God forbid someone treat me like a woman and show me a good time for a fucking change."

"Shyann-" Evalynn started but Shyann was already walking away in a huff. Evalynn chased after her and when they were outside, Shyann noticed Rachael's car but she drove off without a glance and Shyann was stunned and furious all at once.

"I can't fucking believe you," Shyann said.

"Shyann," Evalynn said but Shyann didn't give her a chance to say anything and was walking away, but it was in the direction of the road. "Shyann! Where the hell are you going?!"

"I'm walking home," Shyann said.

"No you're not!" Evalynn yelled back. "It's nothing but woods for miles! You're not walking back to your apartment! Get over here and I'll drive you home!"

"I'd rather walk," Shyann said bitterly.

"God damn it, Shyann – either come to the car or I'll fucking carry you!" Evalynn yelled.

"Don't fucking tell me what to do!" Shyann yelled back. This time, Evalynn ran to catch up to Shyann and was about to grab a hold of her but Shyann averted her. "Fine! Fine, I'll get it the fucking car!"

Shyann turned to walk back to the parking lot and Evalynn followed after her. Shyann found Caleb's car and tugged on the door but it was locked. Evalynn unlocked the door and Shyann got in with a thud of rage as Evalynn walked around to the driver's seat. Once they were on the road, Evalynn finally spoke.

"I'm sorry, Shyann," Evalynn said.

"Save it," Shyann bit back. "I can't believe you told her to piss off."

"Excuse me, Shyann, but I'm not going to stand by and let her call you a slut," Evalynn answered.

"Big fucking deal," Shyann said. "You think I give a shit?"

"You should give a shit, Shyann," Evalynn said.

"Well, I don't," Shyann said, "and I don't need you 'defending my honor'. I'm so fucking sick of you treating me like I'm a fucking child."

"Well, maybe I wouldn't if you stopped acting like one!" Evalynn snapped.

"Fuck you," Shyann answered quietly. Evalynn looked at her and saw she was holding back tears. It took her by surprise and Evalynn drove the car to the side of the road with the tires of the left side of the car going into the foliage. "What are you doing?" Shyann asked but Evalynn didn't answer her. She brought the car to a stop and put the car in park before finally turning so she was looking at her.

"Shyann, I'm sorry tonight turned out the way it did," Evalynn said, "and I'm sorry if I spoke out of line."

"If? You're sorry 'if' you spoke out of line?! Evalynn, you told my date to piss off for saying she wanted a one night stand without even thinking, 'Maybe that's all Shyann wants from this bitch'! I'm so fucking tired of you treating me like a kid and acting like you have any business telling me what I can and can't do!"

"I said I'm sorry, Shyann," Evalynn said calmly.

"Well fuck your apology!" Shyann yelled and starting taking deep breaths trying to make sure she didn't cry as she looked out the window.

"Shyann," Evalynn started.

"I don't want to fucking hear it," Shyann said. Evalynn took a deep breath and leaned back against the seat. The two of them were quiet for a moment and the silence was uncomfortable.

"I'm sorry," Evalynn said again.

"I said I don't want to fucking hear it!" Shyann yelled. "Let's get this straight: I don't need you to fucking babysit me and I don't want you trying to run my life. You have no business telling me what to do, who I can be with, who I can sleep with or anything! That's my fucking business and you have no right trying to make it your business!"

"You're the one making it my business," Evalynn snapped back. "You flounce around like you fucking know everything then get pissed at me when I inevitably have to get you out of trouble!"

"What trouble! I was on a date and you ruined it!"

"You deserve someone that's not going to treat you like a fling, Shyann."

"What does it fucking matter to you?! I'd rather someone treats me like a fling rather than a child! That's all you fucking see me as!"

"That's not true, Shyann!"

"Bullshit it's not true! You act like you're so much smarter than me and like I'm this pitiful brat you need to look after; well I'm not!"

"You're right," Evalynn said and that statement stopped Shyann in her tracks as her face softened with surprise and confusion. "You're right," Evalynn repeated, "And I'm sorry. I worry about you – I can't help it, but you're right: I shouldn't treat you like you're helpless. You're far from helpless."

"You're damn straight I'm far from helpless," Shyann mumbled. "I don't need you acting like my knight in shining armor."

"Than what do you need from me, Shyann?" Evalynn asked, deciding to throw all pretenses out the window. Shyann looked at Evalynn strangely but she saw a spark in her eyes as though Shyann knew exactly how she wanted to answer.

"What are you talking about? I don't want anything from you," Shyann said, but Evalynn could hear the uncertainty in her voice.

"Shyann," Evalynn said, "I've been so protective of you because I care about you. It has nothing to do with thinking you're a child or a brat. I know I've been overzealous and I know I've frustrated you but I would rather do that then see anyone hurt you or treat you like you aren't worth anything. It's not true. You're worth more than you realize."

"To who?"

"To me," Evalynn finally said. "I love you, Shyann. I have for a long time."

"You love me?" Shyann asked with her eyes wide. There was a hint of anger at first but it was swiftly replaced with shock then hopefulness. However, the anger is what she led with, "You fucking love me? Are you being fucking serious?" Despite the anger, her voice weakened as it sank in.

"Yes, I'm fucking serious," Evalynn said. "I should have told you sooner. I'm sorry. I didn't tell you because if you wanted to be with me, I didn't want you in a position where you're in a long distance relationship with a woman putting her education above everything. I didn't want to tie you down but….despite my intentions-"

"Fuck your intentions," Shyann said but her voice was soft despite the harsh words. Then she undid her seatbelt and climbed over so she was straddling Evalynn's lap. Evalynn was taken completely off guard and didn't fight her as Shyann reached down so the seat would go back allowing her to sit in Evalynn's lap more comfortably.

"Shyann," Evalynn started but Shyann gently shook her head.

"Say it again, Evalynn," Shyann said. "If you mean what you said, then say it again."

"I love you, Shyann," Evalynn finally said again. Then, finally, Shyann smiled at her.

"Was that so hard?" Shyann asked and then leaned down to press a kiss to Evalynn's lips. Evalynn was shocked for a second but quickly fell into the kiss. Evalynn reached down to pull on the lever by the seat so the back would fall. Once they were lying down, Shyann pulled her lips away so they were looking into each other's eyes. "Tell me again."

"I love you," Evalynn said again.

"I love you too," Shyann said and then pressed her lips to Evalynn's again.

For just a moment, Evalynn thought she should tell Shyann to save it so they could get back to the apartment but she simply didn't want to. Shyann smelled and tasted so good. Shyann was so small and soft and her long hair curtained around Evalynn's face while they kissed. Evalynn trailed her hands over Shyann's body going up her thighs until she reached her hips. Shyann's panties were lace and felt so nice under Evalynn's fingers. Shyann reached down to go under Evalynn's shirt so she could reach up to touch her breasts. As soon as Shyann was met with Evalynn's bra, she reached around and Evalynn arched her back so Shyann could undo the clasps of her bra. Then she brought her hands back around to push up Evalynn's shirt and bra then taking her lips away so she could kiss between Evalynn's breasts before kissing her way up her right breast. Evalynn moaned gently from the feel of Shyann's lips on her skin. Evalynn trailed her hands around then slipped her hands into Shyann's panties and it made Shyann sigh contentedly.

"I've wanted this for such a long time," Shyann said against Evalynn's breast then took Evalynn's nipple into her mouth.

Evalynn moaned again then shoved her hand further down Shyann's panties so she could touch between her folds. Shyann was already wet and Evalynn slipped two fingers inside her and used her thumb against her clitoris. Shyann whimpered with Evalynn's nipple still in her mouth and reached down to the top of Evalynn's pants undoing the button and pulling the zipper down. Evalynn lifted her hips so Shyann could tug Evalynn's pants and panties down so she could touch Evalynn the way she touched her. Shyann slipped her fingers inside Evalynn using her thumb against her clitoris and once they were touching each other, their eyes met again. Shyann dipped her head down to give Evalynn a kiss then started to crawl away from her so she was tucked into the space on the floor by the petals of the car. Shyann pulled Evalynn's pants and panties further down then came up between Evalynn's legs so she could lick her way up the slit back to the bundle of nerves.

"Shyann," Evalynn moaned as her head fell back against the headrest.

Shyann slipped her fingers inside Evalynn using those fingers to find then press against her g-spot while continuing to twirl her tongue around her clitoris. Evalynn laced her fingers through Shyann's hair whimpering and moaning as Shyann guided Evalynn towards an orgasm. The closer and closer she came, the more her breathing became labored and she moaned more and more. Evalynn kept one hand in Shyann's hair gripping the strands while another hand flew up above her head and she grabbed a hold of the headrest as the pressure continued to build until her whole body snapped. She trembled as the core of her body convulsed from her orgasm. Shyann kept up her touching until Evalynn's body finally calmed down.

"Get on your back," Evalynn ordered once she had control again and took a hold of Shyann's arm to guide her into the passenger's seat with her back to the door.

Evalynn tore Shyann's panties away and dipped her head down so she could return the favor slipping her fingers inside her and pressing her tongue against Shyann's clitoris. Shyann's moaned and she lifted her hands up so she was pressing against the roof of the car. Shyann was much more vocal in her pleasure and she was also much more vulgar. She cursed as she moaned, she repeated Evalynn's name in passion as Evalynn brought Shyann closer and closer to release. When she was getting closer, Shyann's thighs closed in around Evalynn's head and Evalynn could feel just how powerful Shyann's thighs really were. She could crush Evalynn's head if she really wanted to. Her thighs did grip Evalynn's head when she'd brought Shyann to orgasm, but Evalynn was so distracted by Shyann's moans of pleasure that she didn't even care. Once Evalynn had brought Shyann to her own release, Evalynn climbed up to her and pressed a kiss to Shyann's lips. Shyann wrapped her arms around Evalynn's neck returning the kiss. When their lips parted, the two of them looked into each other's eyes.

"I love you, Shyann," Evalynn said again.

"I love you too," Shyann answered and gave Evalynn another passionate kiss.

"Let's get dressed and I'll take you home," Evalynn said once they parted.

"Stay the night with me?" Shyann pleaded.

"I have to bring Caleb back his car," Evalynn said, "but how about we get your car, I'll drop off Caleb's car and we'll go back to your place together?"

"Okay," Shyann answered with a smile and gave Evalynn another kiss.

The two of them got their clothes back on and Evalynn drove the rest of the way to Shyann's apartment so she could get her car. The two of them drove to Forks so Evalynn could drop off Caleb's car then she went back to Shyann's apartment so they could spend the night together. The two of them went straight to Shyann's room, undressed and were in each other's arms pleasuring one another until they finally fell asleep in each other's arms. The next morning, Evalynn was awake first and put on one of Shyann's oversized, torn to bits shirts before going to the kitchen to make coffee. She filled two cups and put cream in both then walked back to the bedroom. Shyann was still asleep so Evalynn grabbed a magazine to read while she enjoyed her coffee. Shyann eventually woke up closer to ten and turned in bed to see Evalynn reading.

"Morning," Shyann moaned and stretched. Evalynn smiled and leaned down to give Shyann a kiss.

"Good morning, lazy bones," Evalynn said and Shyann gently smacked Evalynn's cheek. "I brought you coffee."

"Thank you," Shyann said. "There's something I want to talk to you about. It's about us and how we're going to do a long distance relationship."

"I'll come back during holidays and the summer and I'll call you as often as possible," Evalynn said. "That's really all we can do for now. Assuming I passed the LSAT-"

"Oh, shut up – you passed," Shyann said and Evalynn smiled.

"Well, anyway, once I finish Law School, I'll come back to Washington for good. I fully intend to take the Bar exam in New York and in Washington so I can work at either firm as needed, but I intend to work for Uncle Kevin."

"And you've only got three years left right?"

"Yes," Evalynn answered.

"Okay," Shyann smiled, "I can deal with three years. Are you open to phone sex?"

"Yes, but it would have to be on nights when my grandparents are out and hunting," Evalynn said.

"Right, your grandparents live with you," Shyann said and sighed as her head plopped onto her pillow. "In that case," she continued then turned so she was back on her side and staring up at Evalynn with a mischievous grin, "we'll just have to make the most out of whenever you're home."

"That's true," Evalynn smiled and tossed the magazine aside then grabbed a hold of Shyann's legs forcing them apart and getting positioned between them. Shyann was still nude and her core exposed. "No better time to start than now," she said and then started the pleasure Shyann with her fingers and tongue while Shyann moaned with pleasure giving no care for any neighbors that might overhear her.
