STAR WARS REBELS

The New Spectres

Justin, Junior, and a Crazy Neighbor

NEW YORK - 2031

The Felth Brothers were in the shoe store along with Josh Myers, AP-5, and BB-8 who was hiding under a chair as Chris attempted to fit shoes on a woman who had commented rather sarcastically on his trademark Yankees hat. While Josh would have responded with an insult or two about her weight, Chris simply suggested that she must be a Mets fan.

"How's Caleb?" Chris asked Justin.

"He lifted a car off the street last week with The Force. It was blocking me in and I had to get something for dinner. I told Lucy about it, ran to the supermarket, got what I needed, and came home to find that the PPA was in the process of towing it because Caleb put it down in front of a fire hydrant." Justin replied causing Josh to completely lose it and bust out laughing.

"These shoes are too big." The woman said.

"Are you trying to cut off the circulation to your toes?" Chris asked her.

"Emergency Rooms aren't fun places to be." Justin added.

"How would you know?" She asked Justin.

"He was 14 when he busted his ass playing around on my skateboard. Ten stitches and ten hours in the ER to close the back of his head. I told you to wear a helmet." Chris explained.

"I remember that. We had two ambulance crews respond. Luckily your dad was trained in basic First Aid. In your case, they might just decide that it's easier and cheaper to chop your feet off. You know how Health Insurance companies can be about costs." Josh chimed in causing the woman to scowl at him angrily.

"That's it, I'm taking my business elsewhere." She said and got up.

"May I suggest a liposuction consultation." Josh told her as she stormed out of the store.

"I take it you're in town to see Junior." Chris said to Justin.

"You can come out now, the beached whale is gone." Josh said causing BB-8 to appear from under the chair Justin was sitting in.

"Yeah, he hates coming here. I didn't even know BB-8 was under there." Justin told them.

"That's his thing when the Hutts come in here. Either under a chair, behind the register, or behind Chris when I deal with them." Josh said.

"Tori said she threw a hippo out for something involving the Lobster Bisque. I told her about what just left here. They take their Bisques seriously over there." Chris told them as he read a message on his phone and sent Tori a reply.

"How's Caleb's potential unborn future sibling?" Josh asked Justin.

"Last I heard from Darius, mother and baby are doing fine. We're trying to tame Caleb's Force Abuse before they bring another baby into the house. Now that he's moved from food to droids to cars. Mace was not happy about the car even though Caleb had a good reason to do it given how long it took that tow truck to arrive." Justin replied as Jacen Syndulla walked into the store.

"Jacen. I thought you said you'd never shop here." Josh said to Jacen.

"Josh, you've had seven years to come up with bad jokes and nasty insults about the color of my hair. If you haven't come up with them by now, I doubt you ever will. Plus, I know you have standards, since you've never made fun of Eli Vanto being considered an honorary Chiss. On to business. The soles on my boots cracked and broke, I need new ones and nobody in this city seems to have boots in my size. My choices were narrowed down to you guys or see if Tevin can help me the next time I see him about Chris' flying lessons." Jacen told him and held up a rather beat and battered boot with a broken sole.

"AP, see if we have any good boots in this size." Josh said to the droid as Jacen gave him the boot and sat down next to Justin.

"Do you fly like Lucy or Dad?" Justin asked Chris.

"Probably Lucy since Jacen and his Mom trained her." Chris replied as AP-5 returned with Jacen's boot and a box. He put both of them next to Chris who fitted the new boot on Jacen.

"How does that fit?" Chris asked.

"Very comfortably. How much?" Jacen replied.

"For you, $30 with the Family Discount." Josh said as Jacen paid for the boots and left the store.

"You and Junior? Seeing as Josh and Junior are both as much a part of the family as Master Windu is, you can tell us." Chris told Justin.

"Don't forget about Jacen." Josh chimed in.

"We just like hanging out together. Bars, clubs, fun stuff like you and Tori do. What stories did Caleb make up about us now? I think he's still mad at me for using his middle name at his school's Holiday Lunch. Unless Mace explained to him what anger does to a Jedi."

"It was actually Major Schlager who said something about you two. He had the family under surveillance for some reason when he wasn't busy having unarmed civilians shot for no reason. One of the reasons Dad and Uncle A.J. were quick to ship him off to the Russian Front when they found out what he was doing." Chris explained.

"Actually, he wanted Schlager court-martialed, shot, and then sent to the Russian Front." Josh added as a customer walked in.

"I need shoes." The customer who was a heavyset woman said.

"I didn't know Hutts wore shoes." AP-5 told her.

"How dare you call me a Hutt. If I wanted to be abused, I would go to the soup stand." She snapped at the droid and stormed out.

Justin eventually made his way to the Pratchards and joined Junior in watching an episode of The People's Court.

"One of Dad's first cases. The Defendant loaned money from the Plaintiff for a lawyer because he got arrested for DUI. Now he won't pay it back." Junior said as he explained the case they were watching to Justin.

"I asked her for the money because I didn't want a Public Defender." The Defendant testified.

"Why does everyone knock on Public Defenders? I started my career in the Law as one." Judge Pratchard said.

"They had to reschedule the case twice The first time the Prosecution wasn't ready." The Plaintiff testified.

"What happened the second time? I want him to answer."

"I was hungover from the night before." The Defendant said.

"Hungover? The official report says that you were a real idiot moron fool and showed up to court drunk and they arrested you again. Did you sign an agreement to repay her the money or were you too drunk to remember that?"

"Um..." The Defendant began to say, but was cut off by the Judge.

"Um is not an answer. Do you have an agreement in writing with this drunken fool?" Judge Pratchard asked the Plaintiff who produced what appeared to be a paper plate and handed it to the Court Officer who gave it to the Judge.

"I love this. She actually wrote a loan agreement on a paper plate with a crayon and you signed it. Verdict for the Plaintiff, $5,000." Judge Pratchard said and banged the gavel. Junior lowered the volume on the TV as the Defendant complained about the Judgment to the interviewer in the hallway and the legal consultant explained the law.

"Something bothering you?" He asked Justin.

"I think my brother and Josh know. The RSB guy who had the guy in Philly shot back in October had us under surveillance. One of the reasons my Uncle is now in charge of RSB and Major Schlager is in Russia counting his blessings that he wasn't demoted or worse."

"You could have told Chris the truth."

"He was talking to me in between customers. The only one I would've felt comfortable saying it in front of was Jacen Syndulla since Josh considers him part of the family. He needed boots and Josh was the only one who had his size in stock. Believe it or not, Josh actually has standards when it comes to what he says about people. He hasn't made fun of Jacen's hair, the fact that Admiral Vanto is considered an honorary Chiss, and he was quite accepting of Colonel McKnight telling him the same thing. As well as finding out about Darius being a Jedi."

"We only found out about most of those things after I called Josh an idiot for the first time because he pulled a prank on Jacen and then ran his mouth."

"I think my nephew already has an idea of what's going on with us too and he's prone to making up stories. What?" Justin said as Junior turned off the TV and moved closer to him.

"No sense in keeping this secret now that Remnant Security has it in some file somewhere, your nephew and those ghosts that haunt your sister's house probably snooped on us, and most of all I'm now convinced that Josh won't make a joke out of it." Junior told Justin before pushing him down and giving Justin a kiss.

"If anything, Josh was waiting for this to happen. Chris and Darius too probably." Justin said and then kissed Junior again.

PHILADELPHIA - 2031

Lucy let out a small giggle as she heard one of her neighbors arguing with Schultz about her car being towed and the paperwork being lost. Eric looked at her and decided that he didn't need to know what happened, but he was interested in the procedure being followed.

"What regulation is this?" He asked.

"The one where the PPA can't release a car that we ordered towed from impound until we issue a release and the paperwork is done."

"My car was not parked in front of no damn fire hydrant." Lucy's neighbor could be heard screaming at Schultz from Lucy's office.

"Is this the car Caleb moved with The Force because it was blocking Justin in?"

"Yeah. She's lucky I didn't have the Fire Department come and smash her windows out too. Either way double parking or hydrant, she was subject to towing." Eric had to stop himself from cracking up at that. He knew the Felths had a history of being vindictive. He just didn't know how entertaining it was to watch the aftermath of a Felth being vindictive.

"Where's the paperwork?" Eric asked her.

"I filled it out and gave it to Schultz. Where it went from there, I don't know. Maybe she owes money on tickets or something popped when it was entered into the PPA system. I don't think Justin's the first person she's done this too. Just the first person who had her towed for it. They won't release a car without a licensed driver, valid registration, and valid insurance." She replied as Ty walked into her office.

"Is that your neighbor who's been yelling at Schultz for the past five minutes?" He asked Lucy.

"That's her. If I knew she was going to be this much of a drama queen about it, I would've had the Fire Department stop by and bust her windows out too."

"If she doesn't stop screaming at Schultz, she's gonna be escorted out of here or she's gonna be arrested, charged with Disorderly Conduct, and locked up. One of the two and I'm going to tell her that." Ty said and headed to the lobby joined by a pair of Stormtroopers.

"Are you in charge of my Bitch Neighbor? Tell her I want my car back." The woman said.

"Your car is at the PPA Lot. The paperwork was filled out on our end. You have to talk to them. Now, you have to stop yelling at my Sergeant or you're either going to be escorted out of here or you're going to be arrested for Disorderly Conduct." Ty explained. At this, the woman completely flipped out and threw one of the plants at Ty. The two Stormtroopers grabbed the woman and placed her in handcuffs before she could get her hands on anything else.

"Now you don't get your car back until you post bail. You're being charged with Assault and Disorderly Conduct. Make sure she knows her rights." He told the Stormtroopers as they dragged the woman off to a holding cell as she screamed threats towards Lucy's office.

"Make sure the PPA has her paperwork. I have to add a charge to that woman's booking sheet." Ty told Schultz and headed back to where Eric and Lucy were.

"Is she always that crazy and loud?" Eric asked Lucy as Ty joined them.

"I collared her for assault three years ago. She beat her ex-boyfriend with a frying pan because she thought he was cheating on her with a cashier at the supermarket. She got Probation for that." Lucy replied as Ty giggled.

"Bad news for her. Ms. Forbes has been assigned as our regular AUSA. I have to fill out the paperwork on her for throwing a plant at me and screaming what she plans to do to Lucy when she gets out. I wonder if I can put her under a 302 given that she threw a plant at me, threatened Lucy, and has a past history of unprovoked violence against people. I'll ask Ms. Forbes when I tell her about this case." Ty told them and went to his office.

"I should have filed a 302 on her during the Summer when she set her last boyfriend's stuff on fire during a screaming fit about how he thought she was crazy. Luckily, I had Darius take Caleb shopping while she was doing that." Lucy said to Eric.

"We can do that?" Eric asked.

"Same as the police can have someone held for psych. Technically, Darius could file a 302 on her if he ever saw her acting crazy. I guess some of your former associates at RSB would have just had her shot on sight."

"Probably. Especially Schlager."

Shirley Forbes stopped by the office later that day after receiving a copy of the complaint about Lucy's neighbor. She found the three in the kitchen discussing another case.

"Is it my understanding that you want to file a 302 on someone?" She asked them.

"You're here about Lucy's crazy neighbor." Ty replied.

"Lucy's been telling us stories all day about her." Eric added.

"What has she done in the past 30 days besides this?" Shirley asked them.

"Pulled an Angela Bassett on her last baby's daddy. Gotten into two fights over how she parks her car which is just about anywhere she wants. Cursed out her own children and threatened to beat them bloody. I called Child Welfare on her for that one and they took the kids away from her. Last week, she threw a brick through someone's car window." Lucy explained.

"Where is she now?" Shirley asked Ty.

"In a holding cell awaiting transfer to either a hospital or the jail uptown. She's still in handcuffs so she can't hurt herself or throw anything else at anybody." Ty replied and handed her a file.

"Well, I have no issue with you filing a 302 on her. If anything, the Court can order her into treatment for at the very least Anger Management since it sounds like she won't go to that on her own and there's likely to be more incidents if she doesn't get it. How on Earth did she get Probation for assaulting someone with a frying pan? I would have asked for jail time. Multiple blows to the head with a frying pan can do some serious damage Of course, I would've charged her with attempted murder instead of assault." Shirley explained as Ty led her to the holding cell where Lucy's neighbor had been placed. The woman was still carrying on and Ty was surprised that she hadn't lost her voice from all that yelling. Two Stormtroopers stood nearby with blasters ready in case the woman needed to be stunned.

"You letting me out?" She screamed at Ty.

"No I'm not. This is Miss Forbes, she's going to explain some things to you."

"She letting me out of here?"

"You're being placed under a 302 Hold for a psychiatric evaluation and treatment based upon your behavior today and the past 30 days. The General and his staff believe that you pose a danger to yourself, others, and the public at large. You will be taken to a hospital where you will be evaluated and then transported to a secure facility for further treatment. You are also being charged criminally with two Felonies. One for throwing the plant at the General and one for screaming terroristic threats at you neighbor." The woman responded by spitting at Ty through the bars and was stunned by the Stormtroopers.

"Spit mask and hog tie her until she's transported." Ty told the troopers who quickly carried out the orders before the woman recovered and acted out even more. Once this was done, Shirley followed Ty back to his office so that the paperwork could be started.

"I won't repeat what she said about Darius and Caleb Carpenter when she described what she was going to do to them, other then that it's in the report."

"Write it up as separate charges for each one of them. Darius and Caleb are going to be filed as Hate Crimes against members of the Jedi Order and I might consider filing a racial bias charge for what she called Justin Felth too. Whenever she gets out of the psych ward, she's going straight to jail." As Shirley finished explaining to Ty what she was planning to do with the woman, Lucy walked into Ty's office.

"I'm taking some of Justin's things up to New York so he can lay low at the Pratchards or my parents for a few days. Tomorrow is Darius' late day so someone has to pick up Caleb and I guess bring him here since no one will be at home." She told Ty.

"Your crazy neighbor is 302 and then off to jail after that. She just spit at me. There's no need for Justin to stay in New York now."

"I guess I'm the last person on that block she's going to screw with." Lucy said.

That evening, the three Carpenters had dinner as was usual.

"Where's Justin?" Darius asked.

"New York. If he's not back by tomorrow morning and barring any new business, I'm going to pick Caleb up and bring him to my office after school." Lucy replied.

"Could send Schultz."

"Which would allow Caleb to have a bag full of unexplained candy about which Schultz would say he knows nothing. In other news, Ms. Forbes has been assigned as our regular AUSA and already has her hands full. Our psycho neighbor will be away for the next several years."

"What did she do now?" Darius asked.

"Came into the office, screamed at Schultz, threw a plant at Ty, screamed that she was going to do things to us, and spit at Ty when told she was being put under a 302 Hold. Forbes is filing numerous felony charges on her."

"So we won't have to worry about her teaching Caleb bad words." Darius said as Caleb moved the ketchup bottle with The Force only to have it intercepted by Darius.

"He'll be in his teens or older when she gets out of prison." Lucy told him.

"Happy?" Darius asked Caleb as he put some ketchup on Caleb's plate. Later that night after Caleb had been given his daily bath and put to bed, Lucy joined Darius on the couch.

"I didn't tell you over dinner, but Justin and Junior are finally getting together." Darius told her.

"What or rather who convinced them?" Lucy asked him.

"Josh, Chris, one of our resident Spirits I suspect Bryan Khayman, Landon, Mr. B., maybe Jacen Syndulla, and possibly Caleb." Darius replied.

"In other words, just about everyone who knows them."

"Justin also told me something about Major Schlager putting the entire family under surveillance as revenge for being sent to the Russian Front by Dad and Uncle A.J. after he had that guy blasted for no real reason."

"I guess he's up for demotion now. Dad already had one RSB Creep demoted and another one held for a mental fitness evaluation." Lucy said and let out a giggle.

"Dad also transferred Eric out of there before he turned into one of those three creeps. That makes four RSB men who were demoted, reassigned, or relieved of their duties pending a fitness evaluation." Darius added.

"Five, you forgot the one who tried to hijack the Ghost from Jacen and then got put on a 302 by Ty after he showed up here waving blasters and threatening to shoot people. I count four because Eric wasn't transferred out of RSB as punishment for something, but as me, Dad, and Landon thinking he wasn't happy or fitting in there. I think Admiral Vanto might have shared the same opinions." Lucy said. Justin showed up as Darius did his usual Midnight raid on the kitchen, checked in on the sleeping Caleb, and airing of concerns to Mace who was usually lingering in Caleb's room seeking some form of quiet after having to settle the latest argument between Kanan and Bryan over something.

"I'm resisting the urge to have Master Yoda smack those two with his stick." Mace said.

"What were they arguing about now?"

"Who knows. I didn't want to listen to it. It sounded like something Bryan started."

"Send Bryan to the Russian Front if he keeps it up. Kanan has a reason to be here, Bryan really doesn't. His kids are in New York last I knew." Darius told his great-grandfather. Mace simply nodded and disappeared as Darius went back to bed.
