Angel: I forgot to mention this last chapter, because I had to talk about the spinoff. If I didn't, people would continue asking me about it until it actually comes out ^^' I figured to just get my opinion out of the way sooner than later. Anyway, there is some new fanart out on Deviantart for this story to those who haven't seen it! There's fanart of Robertson, Mikey, and Hana fighting El Fuego now by jebens1 on Deviantart, so feel free to check those out!
Also, if you're interested, the Rise of TMNT movie has a release month of June. So it'll be probably like 4 and a half months before it's actually released. And it's supposed to take place after season 2, so I'm unclear of how much time will pass between the show and the movie in-universe.
Warning, mild swearing in this episode.
Baymax, the twins, Wasabi, Karmi, and Megan walk up the steps of Fred's mansion. "I still can't believe Fred's loaded! Like, stupidly loaded," Megan comments to Hana, who shrugs.
"I can't believe that you're now just finding that out. But then again, he's never invited you guys over."
"And yet he did. For some reason," Hiro murmurs to himself, rubbing his neck awkwardly. It was Fred's idea to invite them in the first place, and he didn't know why. Not that he hated their presence, but because of...stuff with both Karmi and Megan, he feels just a teensy uncomfortable hanging out with both of them at the same time.
Hana's about to knock on the door when Fred opens it for her. "Welcome to movie night!" He announces to the six of them.
"Yeah..." Hiro chuckles nervously, leaning in towards Fred. "But why'd you invite both Karmi and Megan?"
"Oh, we all know why, Hiro. It's only a matter of time," Fred boops his nose and his eyes widen in realization. He recoils back, clearing his throat awkwardly as he looks away. Hana smirks at his reaction, crossing her arms. Fred obviously wanted Hiro to spend time with both Megan and Karmi, as he sometimes calls it 'love-triangle development.' As long as he was happy, Hana herself would support whoever he chooses.
"Tonight's movie will be...the director's cut of Kentucky Kaiju!" Mini-Max announces from Fred's hand, holding a megaphone. Fred puts on a Kentucky Kaiju mask.
"The director's cut!" They both exclaim in unison.
"Of course it is," Karmi smiles a bit in amusement.
"The director's cut of Kentucky Kaiju the director's cut has a running time of three hundred and thirty-seven minutes," Baymax informs them, Hana staring at him wide-eyed.
"That's over 5 hours! 5. Hours!" Wasabi panics a little. Fred wraps his arms around Wasabi and Baymax.
"Yeah. Pretty sweet. That's why I went all out with the snack sitch."
"Behold! A plethora of fast food options for your consumption!" Mini-Max shouts as they're looking at WAY too many tacos and sweets and drinks in front of them.
"Yeah. We've got Mucho Monster Muncher Tacos for the main course and Sugarzilla for the dessert," He holds up a taco with lots of ingredients and then what looks like a crepe in a cone with whipped cream and fruit.
"No thanks," Wasabi shakes his head in denial. "I gave up fast food."
"And have we all forgotten that I'm a vegetarian and have been for months now?" Hana crosses her arms. "Fred, I don't eat meat anymore."
"Okay, but perhaps I did not mention Diablo style," He holds it out to Wasabi, who denies it again by pushing it away. "And don't worry Hana Banana, I got you covered on that front. I went ahead and ordered some Mucho Monster Muncher in vegetarian style!"
He gestures to a pile of bags nearby, and they're as big as the pile in front of them.
"Fred, I can't eat all that in one night," Hana shakes her head slowly. "I'd get sick."
"And while Yaki Taco is good, I prefer less of a good thing," Megan points out.
"Surely you do not object to frozen custard and juicy berries gently swaddled in delicious prep," Mini-Max tries to tempt Wasabi with the Sugarzilla.
"Back me up here, Baymax," Wasabi puts the smaller robot down.
"The Mucho Monster Muncher contains four times the suggested daily sodium intake. And the Sugarzilla has twelve times the suggested sugar intake."
"Fast food is, uh, tasty and all, Fred, but you can't argue with the facts," Hiro jerks a thumb to Baymax.
"And yeah, I do love custard, I just can't with the sugar amount..." Hana rubs her neck sheepishly.
"Same here," Karmi agrees with her. "I'd rather keep my sodium and sugar intakes on the low side of things."
"Mhm," Megan nods along with them, glancing at Hana. "I thought you were a strict vegetarian."
"I wanted to add dairy products to stuff I avoid nowadays, but I love ice cream too much to give it up...sure, it's sugar, but-"
"I can't hear you!" Fred stuffs some Sugarzillas into his ears, earning a blank look from Hana.
"Is he always this stubborn?" Karmi whispers in Hana's ear.
"All that and more..."
"That...is just weird," Mini-Max comments to him.
The twins both get a phone call, answering it. "Hey Judy," Hiro greets her first.
"What does Krei want from us now...?" Hana sighs slowly, pinching her nose. Unfortunately, they are still interns for Krei...sometimes he'd call them for stupid stuff if it wasn't Big Hero 7 related, and she just couldn't wait for the day that she gets to quit.
"Hey twins. Speaking of Krei, have you heard from him? He won't return my texts, and my calls go straight to voicemail."
Hiro sighs a bit upon hearing this. "Did he get lost in the warehouse again?"
"We must've told him a dozen times to put wifi down there, but no..." Hana silently rolls her eyes.
"No. He bought the old Sycorax building." Judy is actually sitting in Di's office. Ever since Di Amara and Chris were arrested, Sycorax has since been abandoned, and Liv has since built a new building for biotech. Not to replicate her clone's work, but to redeem it. She wanted to make amends for what her clone did, the anti-bullying cause was one step to that for her. Liv's Chris is actually managing that building instead of Liv herself, and he loves that job. "So we came by to check it out."
Hana freezes upon hearing this, growing very quiet. "Sycorax?" Hiro asks in surprise, Karmi stepping back a bit in alarm. "T-That place used to be a monster factory! He might be in real danger. You too. We're on our way."
As soon as he hangs up, Hana slowly places down her phone. It's suddenly very quiet for obvious reasons as the tension is high. They haven't been back there in so long that they didn't even know it was still around anymore. And why Krei would want anything to do with it is a mystery in itself. The news about the monster had made the front pages of newspapers and was broadcasted about for weeks.
The messy-haired girl rubs her arm awkwardly as they say nothing. Hana looks towards the ground as Karmi tugs on her hair a little.
"Krei...really needs you, huh?" Karmi finally breaks the silence, glancing at her friend. Hiro turns to the girls.
"You definitely don't have to go if you don't want to, you guys," He tells them gently.
"I would prefer not to," Karmi looks away, biting her lip. He then looks to his sister, who takes a deep breath.
"Let's go, you guys."
"You're coming with us?" Fred blinks in concern.
"Hana...you don't have to do this," Wasabi explains to her, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"I know...but honestly, over time, I've gotten over my anger towards Di. Don't get me wrong, what she did to us was awful," She narrows her eyes at the memories. "And to every other monster that was created there. But...the only way I'd ever be past this is to get closure. Especially since she can't do what she did to anyone else anymore..."
Hiro nods in understanding, though he can't help but feel a bit bad that she is being exposed to Sycorax for the first time since...she was about to become a monster. If that had happened, she would've been like Karmi, Nega-Globby, or Bessie before they all changed.
"I'll stay here with Karmi," Megan gestures to herself.
"Here? T-Together?" Hiro stammers nervously, unsure if that's a good or bad thing. After all, it's two girls that he has feelings for, alone in the same house.
"Oh, don't worry. We won't watch the movie without you, genius boy," Karmi smirks at him.
"Guys...get out the Ultra Armor. We're going back to Sycorax."
Thunder strikes from outside as rain falls onto Sycorax. Fred suddenly wipes it away, having a beard made out of cream.
"Sorry, I wasn't listening. What?"
Hana facepalms at him.
Then a small frown is on her face as she looks down at her helmet. Skymax had brought all of their Ultra Armor over, which they haven't used ever since the Trina/Buddy Guardian attack. A silent tear runs down her face as she remembers finding out Hardlight's true identity. Looking at this helmet, all she could feel was anger, sadness, fear...and now she was doing something she was afraid, which is putting the armor back on. It might seem silly to be afraid of it, but it terrifies her of what could happen by doing this.
But then she remembers another reason why she's doing it and takes a deep breath.
"Hana, you ready to go?"
She glances over her shoulder to see Hiro and the others standing in the doorway of Fred's closet. Karmi and Megan are already settled on his couch, watching them.
"Oh. Y-Yeah, sure," She slowly puts the helmet back on, walking past them. "Let's just go..." As she walks out the door to the bedroom, the boys glance at each other in slight worry.
"Good luck, guys," Megan tells them and Hiro nods.
"Thanks, Megan."
"...Make sure she's okay," Karmi glances to where Hana left. "She...seems really hesitant over doing this."
"We will," Wasabi promises her.
Krei Tech has been scribbled over Sycorax, which is odd since the real Krei Tech is still intact. The six arrive at the building and step inside.
"Oh, this place is somehow even creepier deserted," Hiro comments as he walks in.
It makes me almost not wanna be here... Hana thinks to herself as she follows after him silently.
"Wasabi, you are perspiring excessively," Baymax points out. "It may be due to anxiety."
"Oh, it is absolutely due to anxiety," Wasabi confirms, feeling more anxious than even Hana right about now.
"Here, this helps me," Fred tosses him a Yaki Taco stress doll. Wasabi squeezes it a few times.
"Let's start with sub-level nine," Hiro explains in the elevator, Hana closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. "Where they made the monsters..." He glances at his sister opening her eyes. Yes, he was uncomfortable coming back here too. After all, two people he's close with had very troubling experiences with Sycorax. But he's only here for Krei and Judy, and then they can high-tail it out of there. He didn't want to be here just as much as she did, and yet she agreed to come. In her Ultra Armor, no less, when she hasn't even touched her regular superhero outfit for weeks.
The doors open and they see all of the tubes with specimen inside. Apparently Liv hadn't bothered to clean the place out.
"God damn, this place just got creepier on a whole new level," Hana murmurs quietly as she wearily places a hand on her forehead. "Just…why did it have to be here? Why?!"
They step inside, with mostly silence between them. The only sounds were coming from Wasabi squeezing the stress doll and their footsteps. Fred jumps around while Wasabi looks scared out of his mind.
"Baymax, scan for Krei," Hiro looks up at the robot.
"Scanning," He surveils the area. "These walls block my scanning capability."
"Typical evil science thing," Fred shakes his head in disappointment. "Gotta keep everything secret."
Something rises from one of the cells, with a glowing green eye. It floats over to them and they stand ready to face it. It gets in front of Hiro and Hana, the former waiting for it to do something.
"Wait a minute," Hana furrows her eyebrows, gripping at the green blanket. She tugs it off to reveal that it's just one of the old food-serving bots.
"Oh. It's just an old food pod," Wasabi taps it lightly.
"Honestly, there shouldn't be anything new to expect. Every monster we've come across are either their human selves or they've left Sycorax for good." For example, the Mayoi, who have been moved to a Mayoi shelter. It was actually built by Liv so that they'd have a good home instead of being abandoned. It was one of her steps to redeem Sycorax's reputation.
The food bot hits Fred with a carrot, causing him to scream. "Gross. A healthy food pod."
Hana rolls her eyes, taking the carrot with a hand on her hip. She lifts her visor, taking a bite out of it like a cartoon rabbit.
"Eh, what's up with your low opinion on healthy food, Fred? Don't insult my palette against your obsessive fast food habits."
Hiro lets out a laugh and Fred pouts, crossing his arms. "We'll cover more ground if we split up," The boy walks over to the right with Fred jumping after him.
"Okay, but in monster movies, that's when the bad stuff goes down!"
"But this is real life, Wasabi. There's nothing to worry about," Hana shrugs at him, walking past him. He trails behind her, still afraid.
Fred is eating one of the bags from his snack pile at his house, walking past a control board. He sees a huge box and gasps. "Check it out, Mini-Max!"
"What are you doing, rash chum?" Mini-Max flies over to him.
"I'm gonna warm up my delicious meal in this fancy microwave!" He places the bag inside the contraption.
"This enormous and complicated machine could not possibly be a microwave!" Mini-Max gestures to the same machine that actually the monsters.
"I've been hanging out with geniuses for years, Mini-Max. I think I've picked up a few things about stuff," He looks back to the box, examining it. "Now where is the re-heat button...?"
A scream that wasn't any of them is heard, scaring Fred into accidentally pushing the green button. "Krei!" He runs off to go investigate, with the Yaki Taco bag being inserted as DNA. The Muncher Taco gets mixed in with scorpion DNA, while the Sugarzilla is mixed with a bird.
Krei is still screaming by the time the others find him. "Mr. Krei, a-are you hurt?" Hiro stammers in worry.
"What happened?" Hana asks next.
"No, I'm fine," The man stands up straight, annoying the twins.
"Mr. Krei is not injured," Baymax confirms to the others.
"So why were you screaming?" Fred couldn't help but wonder.
"I just found out my stock lost 2 and a half points today! This market is brutal!" His phone slips out of his hand and he tries to catch it, falling flat on his face. Hana holds out her hand and catches the phone with no issues. "Hey...why are you here?"
"Judy called. She said you went missing," Hiro explains to him.
"And that you weren't answering your phone," Hana tosses him back the phone. "Which, by the way, raises a few red flags to people."
"We were worried you were taken," Wasabi continues as Mini-Max flies in front of them.
"By a fearsome monster!"
"A monster? Don't be ridiculous," Krei pushes him away. "It's an office building! I mean, come on."
"This isn't exactly a joke," Hana crosses her arms, a bit peeved by his attitude by their concern. "Real, actual monsters were created here by Di Amara until she was arrested. I was almost one of them, Mr. Krei, and one of my friends is emotionally affected by it to the point where she's uncomfortable getting near the place. So you really should take it more seriously."
Krei winces at her words, rubbing his neck awkwardly.
The monster making machine comes to life, the doors opening. A clawed hand grips one of them from the green smoke.
Hiro presses a button to the elevator. "We gotta let Judy know you're okay," Hiro glances to the business man.
"Wait!" Fred calls out. "I almost forgot my lunch."
"That's probably for the best," Wasabi tells him as he starts to go back for it.
"Oh come on," Fred lifts up the top eye. "A little fast food never hurt anybody." His eyes widen as he looks at an unamused pair of twins. "Except those who suffer from bulimia nervosa, of course. T-That hurt them..."
"Nice save," Hana rolls her eyes at him.
The Taco-Scorpion lands behind Fred, roaring at him. He screams and runs back towards the group. The Sugarzilla Bird flies above their heads. Krei screams at the sight of them, jumping into Baymax's arms.
"What in the world are those things?!"
"It appears that the DNA of a scorpion and a vulture were merged with a taco and a crepe," Baymax explains to the group.
"How could that have happened?!" Fred wonders, only to get looks from his team members. Wasabi gives a small annoyed grunt. "Oh...the microwave, which looking back now, might not have been a microwave. Heh heh."
"You put your lunch into the DNA insertion part of the monster making machine..." Hana sighs slowly, rubbing a temple. Di must've had the DNA of the animals left behind and probably just had them stored away when she couldn't find a use for them.
"Hey, maybe they're friendly," He replies optimistically, only to be smacked away by the Taco-Scorpion's tail. All of them make a break for it as the two monsters chase after them.
"Not friendly! Definitely not friendly!" Wasabi holds up his plasma shield to knock away the Crepe Vulture. "I told you fast food is bad!"
The Taco-Scorpion attacks Baymax, knocking him to the ground.
"Incoming!" Fred jumps up from behind, landing on its back. It moves away from Baymax, trying to throw Fred off. "Ah! Oh god! Ahh!"
Hana pulls Krei and Hiro away as they run past the three. Fred is knocked off the Taco-Scoprion.
Wasabi runs away from the Crepe Vulture, ducking for cover behind another console. The two monsters go off to find them, the group hiding near the elevator.
"Where did they go?" Krei wonders as they look around.
"I don't know, they could be anywhere!"
"Judy's alone!" Hiro makes a break for the elevator.
"She could be in great danger!" Mini-Max exclaims as everyone else follows inside.
"We have to get to the top floor," The boy presses the button to close the doors and elevator music plays. Krei sways to the music. Hiro glances at his sister, who looks relieved to be out of there. But he couldn't help but wonder why she even came if she's this against even being here.
"Hana, you didn't have to say yes, you know," Hiro speaks up, getting her attention. "You could've avoided all this."
"True, but it wasn't just about me who needed closure. I wasn't the only one affected by what happened..." She says quietly and that's when it hit him.
"...You did it for Karmi, didn't you?" Hiro asks after a few seconds, earning a nod in return.
"She wasn't going to go, but...I could tell that some part of her wanted to. I understand why she said no, and it wouldn't have done us much good if both of us stayed. In all honesty, I would've never gone back here if she had said yes," Hana crosses her arms. "But...Karmi's done a lot for me, even when we were frenemies or when she didn't believe me about Di. And it's about time I returned the favor."
Hiro smiles at her gently. "You always have been a great friend, you know?"
She looks up and smiles in return, grateful for his thoughtful words.
"This song has a fresh beat, don't you think?" Krei breaks the family moment and she raises a brow at him.
"The only best I like is the rum tum-tum of my fists, on criminals!" Mini-Max answers him, glying onto Wasabi's shoulder.
"You've got quite the little violent streak, don't you?" Krei points out to the miniature robot.
"I do!"
A crash occurs and then they hear a creak. Hana slowly looks up at the ceiling, and then a scorpion hand breaks through, alarming all of them. Hana kicks away the scorpion hand as the Crepe Vulture ducks his head in. He grabs Krei by the blazer, lifting him up. Fred tries to grab him, but loses his grip.
"Baymax, sis, let's go!" Hiro points upwards.
"You guys take care of the scorpion, we'll get the vulture and Krei!" Hana jerks a thumb to herself, and it almost feels like she's back on the team. However, no one has time to comment on it as they have other things to focus on. Baymax and Hiro break through the ceiling, Hana thrusting herself into the air as she flies after them.
The Taco-Scorpion swings his tail into the elevator, Fred and Wasabi having to duck. Mini-Max hangs onto the tail.
"I have you now, spicy arachnid!"
Then the Taco-Scorpion crashes his way into the elevator, letting out a roar. It grabs Fred by the waist, throwing him up and down. Wasabi screams as he ends up in the scorpion's mouth, managing to get out and fight back.
They end up on another level, pushing the Taco-Scorpion out.
"Close the doors! Close. The. Doors!" Wasabi urges his friend once they're in the elevator. Fred rapidly pushes the button, closing it just in time.
The Crepe Vulture flies up the shaft with Krei in tow. Baymax and the twins chase after them. "Baymax, rocket fist!"
He fires it from behind, causing the monster to drop the business man. He lets out a scream as he falls. "Somebody help!"
Hana dives towards him and grabs onto his hand, throwing a line of electricity towards a pole. She slowly stops them by gripping onto their support. They eventually stop near Baymax and Hiro. Krei sighs in relief, hugging the girl.
"Please don't ever let me go."
"Uncomfortable..." She murmurs loudly enough for her brother to hear, handing him over to Baymax. He pats Krei on the head.
"There, there. You are safe now."
Once they've met up with the others, they enter the office. "Judy! You're okay!" Hiro exclaims in relief as she's just been sitting at the desk listening to music the entire time.
"Yeah, why?" She takes out her headphones while Wasabi checks the room.
"Looks clear. No monsters."
Krei steps out of Baymax's arms. "Finally, some good news." However, he's met with a flying napkin and yelps, jumping into Baymax's arms. Hana rolls her eyes as it flies past them and over to Judy. She removes the napkin to reveal another food pod. He reveals a salad to her.
"Ah, brought my lunch. Cool," She uses the napkin to tie it around her neck, grabbing her meal.
"We need to get the monsters into the containment cells on sub-level nine," Hiro states to Wasabi.
"They're too hard to hurl with just the six of us."
"That's true," Hiro couldn't help but admit.
"Man, Honey Lemon just had to throw another sticker party," Hana tsks to herself. And as usual, GoGo wanted no part of it, so she was probably nowhere near Sycorax at this point.
"Hm," Her brother rubs his chin and smirks upon seeing the food pod. He stands in front of a storage closet. "We're gonna need some...reinforcements," He opens up the doors to reveal dozens of food pods that got stored away.
The six return to the lobby and see no monsters.
"It's sooo...quiet," Wasabi murmurs at the empty floor.
"Too quiet," Hana glances around and Fred groans.
"Aww, I've always wanted to say that whenever we got to parody a monster movie in real life!"
Hana shushes him so as not to alarm the monsters, if they were there that is. They slowly walk in and something walks past, getting their attention. Then there's a small crash as the shadow walks past them. Fred lifts up his third eye as a shadow looms over him from the tree.
"Maybe they left," Fred whispers to the others, but that's not the case as the shadow completely engulfs him. Mini-Max turns around, nudging Fred. He turns around to see the Crepe Vulture and they all make a break for it. The vulture flies after them, with the twins pushing Baymax down the hall. The vulture gets close to Hana, who turns around and is about to attack. Suddenly, the monster fires a crepe from its mouth to wrap around her eyes.
"My eyes! I can't see without them!" She falls onto the ground, touching the floor and crawling around. The Taco-Scorpion stands in front of her, about to attack. Hiro slides to a stop and runs back, grabbing her arm and running off. The Taco-Scorpion follows behind the vulture and then Hiro presses a button from his wrist. The six duck for cover as the food pods fly out of the elevator behind them.
They reveal various vegetables and start throwing them at the two monsters.
"It's working! They can't handle the veggie onslaught!"
Fred breathes out some fire as he lands in front of them, Hana shaking off the crepe from her eyes. "I can't believe fast food would lose to healthy food!" Fred starts freaking out, shaking Wasabi. "Nothing makes sense anymore!"
"Getting them down to level nine isn't going to be easy," Hiro states while climbing onto Baymax.
"Nothing about this has been easy," Hana dusts herself off.
"We need those elevator doors open!" He looks to the doors behind the monsters. He flies forward with Baymax, flying past all the flying veggies. The robot almost reaches the button when the Crepe Vulture grabs onto his foot, hanging both of them upside down.
"Oh no..."
The vulture monster throws them over the three and they duck their heads. Hana rushes over to them, sliding to a stop in front of the duo.
"Are you guys okay?!"
Hiro gives a weak thumbs up in return.
"Mini-Max, rocket fist!" Fred points to the doors.
"Aye aye, courageous captain!" He fires his fist, which flies past the attacking food pods, and when it reaches the button, a finger just pushes it. The two monsters back away to the doors, Fred jumping past and knocking them inside. The food pods follow them. Hana walks up to the elevator and smirks, reaching inside and pressing the close button.
"Enjoy that elevator music!" She waves as she watches it go down.
"Mini-Maximum premature celebration!"
He starts bopping to music, swinging his arms around. He hops around and then swings his bottom around. Fred grabs onto him while he continues dancing.
"To the stairs!"
The two monsters are surrounded by the food bots, the Crepe Vulture screeching. Then it gets hit in the face with a carrot and it shuts up.
The team is back down in sub-level nine, minus Hiro. "So...any...anybody doing anything fun tomorrow?"
"I have ceramics class," Wasabi speaks up.
"I did not know you were a creator of pottery!" Mini-Max replies as a flush is heard nearby. Hana looks to her left in confusion. "Baymax, did you know?"
"I did not."
Hiro comes back in, holding his helmet and baffling his sister. "Did...did you just go to the bathroom in a creepy lab?"
"I couldn't hold it," He smiles sheepishly and she pinches her nose.
"I told you to go before we left..."
"Uh, what's going on?" Hiro puts his helmet back on.
"We just learned Wasabi has a secret hobby!"
"You doing anything tomorrow, Hana Banana?" Fred asks her casually, her reaction being...they didn't even know. Hana doesn't really do her old hobbies nowadays, not even playing her violin.
"Oh, you know...s-something," She stammers, darting her eyes around.
"What's the something?" Hiro questions the girl.
"I'll tell you in the morning..."
The monsters storm in, running away from the food pods. The Crepe Vulture continues to fly away from all the vegetables, the others just watching.
"Yeah, that's right," Wasabi holds out his hand for a high-five, which Fred gives to him. The Taco-Scorpion breathes out some fire and defeats one of the food pods. Hana opens her mouth in shock as they stare down at it.
"Oh no," Baymax comments what they were all thinking.
"Okay, that's new," Hana points at the Taco-Scorpion. The Crepe Vulture lands nearby and fires ice, freezing some pods. The Taco-Scorpion sets some on fire.
"Oh, why did I order Diablo style?!" Fred exclaims while dodging the two monsters. He jumps around while avoiding the fire. Wasabi jumps away from an ice trail, looking towards the Crepe Vulture. It flies right towards him and he runs off, only to be faced with the Taco-Scorpion. He ducks and rolls to a stop. Mini-Max grabs his arm, pulling him away from the Taco-Scorpion that chases after them. Fred lands on one of the machines, looking to his tail that's slightly on fire.
"Whoa!" He douses it and Hiro gets pushed away by the Taco-Scorpion.
"Ahh! Stick to the plan!" He calls out as the Taco-Scorpion gets wrapped around in electricity. They look up to see Hana trying to pull the monster back.
"Move!" She shouts while struggling, managing to get it back a few feet. They immediately run off and she lets go, causing the monster to crash into the console. She runs off as it roars and they all end up in front of one of the cells.
"Hold!" Hiro advises them and the monsters run up to them. "Hold!"
"I don't like it, but I'm holding!" Wasabi calls out as the duo get closer.
"Just a few more seconds," Hana watches them closely.
"Hold!" They wait for just a little bit more. "Now!"
The boys and robots dive out of the way while Hana jumps into the air. She frontflips over the monsters as they pass by, landing on her feet just a few feet away. Hiro pushes the button once the two monsters are inside the cage, trapping them inside. Hana sighs in relief as she stands up, dusting herself off.
"Mini-maximum mature celebration," Mini-Max swings his hips around.
Wasabi helps up Fred just as Judy comes in out of nowhere. "Cool. I've always wanted pets." They watch one of the food pods fly around until it lands in Fred's hands.
Hana takes off her helmet, wiping off sweat she didn't even know she had. She takes a small breath, relieved that it's over. Hiro turns to his sister.
"That was good work, sis. Thanks for the save."
"Oh," She smiles just a little. "No problem. It felt nice for a moment back there..." But as much as she misses it, she's still not ready to go back to being a superhero. She definitely felt better, though, and she just needs a little more time.
The food pod releases brussel sprouts into Fred's mouth, which he swallows in disgust. "Eww! I got brussel sprouts in my mouth! They're so...green!"
Hiro silently rolls his eyes as Hana steps over to him. "Fred, why don't you just take a moment and actually let the taste sink in?"
He does as suggested and realizes something. "You know what? Actually...they taste, uh, good-ish. Is this what it's like being a vegetarian, Hana Banana?"
"It's not just eating healthy food to me, but on some level yes," Hana glances away, since she can't really see Fred as a vegetarian. He'd probably rather eat cilantro than to actually give up meat. "Vegetables and healthy stuff aren't that bad for you, Fred."
They exit into the lobby with Krei and Judy.
"Well...Mr. Krei, you're officially monster-free," Hiro reports to him.
"And you're not hurt either," Hana crosses her arms.
"Thank you, Big Heroes! Now please show yourself out of my new building!" He kicks the twins away, earning small glares. "You're trespassing."
"Remind me why we're here again?" Hana whispers to Hiro.
"You were right, Wasabi and Hana Banana. Healthy food is acceptable. You know, in 'emergency' situations."
"Not the way I wanted that to go, but you're in the right direction," Hana smiles a bit.
"Good on you! Making changes!" Wasabi fist-bumps Fred.
"Yup! Tried a kale smoothie from the food pods." Hana shudders, suddenly remembering when Professor Granville had them eat kale. She doesn't hate kale, but it's not her favorite healthy thing in the world...
"Huh. Where...did I put that?" Fred looks at his empty hand.
"Oh no," Wasabi frowns knowingly.
Somehow, the kale smoothie ended up in the monster making machine, and it transforms the smoothie into a tiny plant monster.
Fred wakes up with a scream in his bed. He pants heavily as he looks up at his ceiling. He looks up and sees dozens of pieces of trash in his room.
"Okay...no more Mucho Monster Muncher Tacos before bed! Ehh, maybe one more bite of a Sugarzilla, though," He eats one bite and then takes another while sitting in bed.
The next morning, however, turns to be a surprise for all of them once Hana says something crazy.
"Guys...I'm gonna visit Sycorax today."
GoGo pops her gum onto her face in shock, Hiro drops his spoon into his cereal, Honey Lemon's glasses fall, Wasabi chokes on his water, and Fred gasps sharply.
"W-What?" Hiro stammers in disbelief. "Why?"
"I think what Hiro means is what brought this on all of a sudden? You haven't talked about Sycorax in months, Hana," Honey Lemon elaborates, some concern in her voice.
"When you take a break from superhero stuff like I have, you think about a lot of things. I just need some closure, that's all," She explains, though she's still deciding whether or not that's a good or bad thing. "And besides...other people we know as our friends now probably want nothing to do with it. Think about them, they're living happier lives now that they're free in our world, human or not."
They couldn't help but think she had a point as they think about Globby, Nega-Globby, the Mayoi, Karmi, Orso Knox, Bessie, Ned Ludd...They've all since moved on with their lives, but they never really got the chance to showcase their own feelings towards the building or the former clone.
"...Are you sure?" Hiro wonders after a few seconds, earning a nod.
"Positive."
The seven slowly step into the lobby of the abandoned building, Hana glancing around. She could vividly remember when she and her friends visited Karmi on her internship...some part of her would rather forget about the rivalry between Hiro and Karmi at the time, though. Especially after what happened the night after NBB and Trina attacked.
"It's so...charming deserted," Honey Lemon speaks up nervously. Hana takes a look around while walking, eventually going towards the elevator. Fred squeezes his stress doll as Wasabi looks terrified.
"Yeah. If by charming you mean creepy," GoGo rolls her eyes as the messy-haired girl descends down. She stares at the various floors while going down before she ends up exactly where she wanted to go. She steps into Di's secret lab, the damage from all the fighting still there. Hana slowly walks into the lab, taking a deep breath.
All of the memories down here...they definitely make her angry, but at the same time...if they hadn't uncovered the truth, Di would still be around making monsters today. Even if she was able to live peacefully with her clone, it wouldn't have stopped her.
Hana slowly stops walking once she sees the pod that Liv was kept in for several years. And then she remembers when they saw Di's true colors. Once she revealed herself to them, she didn't seem to care for anything, just to get her creator back. And that's something that still bothers Hana to this day. She was going to turn her and her brother into monsters after all. She almost became one, and she would've ended up like Karmi had she not had the will strong enough to stop it. If one more second had passed, she would've lost herself completely until Liv had stopped it.
She had been so focused on looking at the pod that she didn't even notice the others walking up behind her.
"You doing okay?" Hiro places a hand on her shoulder.
"I guess..." She bites her lip and Fred gently grabs her arm, wanting to get her away. He might not be a genius, but even he knew that she might get too emotional if she stayed here any longer.
"Come on."
"Wait! I wanna look," Hana stops him as they continue to stare.
"...Did you tell Karmi you were coming here?" Hiro questions after a few seconds.
"I did as gently as I could so she'd understand. She hung up afterwards," The girl states simply, not blaming Karmi for her reaction. If she didn't want to do it in the first place, Hana wouldn't have come either. But...after having the time she has now, she just couldn't stop thinking about the place. And how it brought so much terror into the city for a while. While the events did have a lasting impact on Hana, it did give her Karmi's friendship...well, a different kind of it.
"But why even do it?" GoGo asks as blunt as possible. "I thought you were done with this place."
"Oh, I am," Hana answers with a straightforward face. "But others aren't, and I have important things planned to help fix things. Even if it's not my business or place, the lasting wounds people carry can heal. If I'm gonna stay a citizen for who knows how long, I might as well give back to the people who've changed my life, for better or for worse."
"...Someone has to help, right?" Wasabi smiles knowingly at her and she nods.
"Yeah...Tadashi would've wanted me to do this too. But I'm taking it one step at a time."
"So what are you doing next?" Honey Lemon asks as Hana slowly turns around.
"Let's just say that I'm visiting and bringing back old friends. And I'll need your help for the most important one."
"Redemption stories!" Fred cheers, pumping up a fist.
"Not exactly, but just trying to make things right," Hana chuckles a little. "I'd really like your support too."
"Well...if you're really sure about this, then I'll help," Hiro nods in agreement.
"Yeah! You've always kept us together, Hana. We'll always be there to help," Wasabi tells her as they walk away towards the elevator.
"I'm just happy that we'll be a team again!" Honey Lemon smiles happily. "Just like we used to be."
"This is exactly what Phase 3 needs! Sugarzilla?" Fred offers her one from his Yaki Taco bag and she pushes it away.
"No thanks."
"I'll help, but if anyone messes with you, they'll regret it," GoGo cracks her knuckles.
"I will also provide assistance as well as medical attention."
After they've had a few more minutes inside the building, they step outside in the open to see Karmi waiting for them.
"Karmi?" Hiro's eyes widen at the sight of her. "What are you doing here?"
"Maybe to see you," Wasabi teases him, earning a small glare.
"Yeah, I thought you were working on the next 13 episodes of Big Chibi 7?" Hana asks as she walks down the steps. Karmi silently steps forward and hugs the girl, to her confusion. "Huh? Is everything okay?"
"You visited Sycorax today so I wouldn't have to...didn't you? You didn't have to do that for me."
Hana opens her mouth in shock, and then clamps it shut. That's exactly what she didn't want—to traumatize others even if they wanted the same thing that she did.
"Kind of...I know it wouldn't have done much good, but it's something...And besides, it wasn't just about me or my friends. It was for everyone who turned into a monster against their will."
"Thank you, Hana." Karmi pulls back from her, gripping her arm a little. "I...I actually wanted to visit, but I couldn't do it. I've been putting it off and focusing on the web series instead, but you didn't have to go in."
"I know. But some things are just worth revisiting."
"...Did it help?" Karmi wonders after a few seconds, examining the girl's face. She doesn't seem upset or angry.
"Yeah, a little," Hana smiles at her. "I'm starting to move on day by day."
"So, you still in?" Hana wonders after the twins look at her whiteboard in the garage.
"That's a little insane, if I have to be honest," Hiro rubs his neck. "Think about it, it might not work."
"True, but that doesn't mean it's impossible," She places her hands on her hips. "And we know where to find him by tracking his chip."
"We just gotta look for a new angle on how to do it, that's all," He suggests while rubbing his chin. "But, it's honestly not a bad idea. And...Tadashi would agree. He'd definitely be proud of you."
Hana smiles and hugs him, the boy returning it. "Thanks, bro. That means a lot."
"Twins! Dinner time!" Aunt Cass calls out as she's approaching, the two quickly standing in front of the whiteboard. Hana quickly glances at her computer screen and rushes to change it to the desktop picture. She peeks in to look at them. "I made crepe-tacos! The best combination ever! Well, maybe not, but I'd love some opinions."
"We'll be right there, Aunt Cass!" Hiro smiles nervously and they watch her leave. The two sigh in relief, Hana changing her screen back to the video feed.
"That was close."
"Well, let's go," Hiro waves her forward and she walks past her screen. On her computer is footage of the original Baymax, still stuck in the alternate dimension...
Angel: I'm sorry if any of the new episodes feel cluttered or like it's jumping all over the place. Again, I have to cram some material into these last episodes, and there's only 11 minutes for every stand-alone episode. And I apologize if I've gotten any details wrong, I'm currently ending two stories this month. Which are this one and my Amelia Smith: 9th Grade Kunoichi story. It has just gotten crazy lately with finishing this and finishing that, but at the same time, I also have to work on my new material that's coming out later on this month. Thanks for reading!
