Hey everybird! What's up!?

So first off I will say that yes I'm still alive and well! I just really needed a short break is all, but back to writing in general!

Anyway, decided to also get back to this series which I enjoy very much! And I hope you all are still liking this series as well! So without further ado, lets get to this short story!

Past Friendships Part 1

Egypt, the land filled with many thousands of years of history, a land once ruled over by the many pharaohs, now over as the country was now a major attraction for ancient history goers, as the remains of the past were quite visible, with many others still being discovered across the land. Along those eager for exploring was a familiar female Blue macaw, wearing tan colored adventurer clothing and a signature hat as she walked about in the streets of Cario, the Egyptian captain. It was a beautiful day, sunny as the sunlight shined upon the Nile River, the lifeline of the country, flowing steadily downward.

"I hope Cerberus is free for some time, it has been awhile since I seen him." Jewel said in her head as she navigated the crowded street markets selling various things like street food, carpets, and decorated vases.

Eventually arriving to where her friend's vendor was, Jewel saw the cobra's back turned as he was attending to the objects he was selling, the finest pieces of jewelry, done in the style of the past pharaohs. Jewel smiled as she walked up to the vendor and first cleared her throat to catch her friend's attention.

"Excuse me sir, but do you have anything for a dashing adventurer like me?" Jewel joked as her friend turned his back.

"Well, well, look who it is." Cerberus smiled as he went to give his friend a hug. "Long time no see Jewel, what are you doing in Cario, something up?"

"No actually, I'm just here for a small vacation, no baddies to fight for now and what better place for an adventurer than here?" Jewel asked rhetorically. "It also gives me an opportunity to see one of my best friends."

"Thanks Jewel, I appreciate that." Cerberus replied. "How about we go enjoy some tea and catch up, I was just about to close up shop for a little break anyway."

"Sounds good to me." Jewel agreed as Cerberus closed up his vendor before the two friends made their way to the nearest cafe, sitting down and getting some nice tea, the two friends sharing what they have been doing since they last saw each other, Cerberus enjoying hearing about the many adventures and places she has been, since Cerberus himself couldn't visit those same places.

"You know being here, reminds me of our grandfathers who started this friendship, in fact I remember they didn't start out as friends." Cerberus remembered as he took a sip from his cup.

"Yeah, my grandfather when he started out liked to work alone, to not be weighed down by someone else, just like me once." Jewel gave a soft chuckle as she remembered one of the stories her grandfather left for her, the time when he first became friends with Ammon all those years back…

Many years ago…

"Cario, Egypt…" Henry let out a breath. "I wish I was here for a vacation instead." The young adventurer commented as he just stepped off the plane that landed on the small airport next to the city, well not really… It was just a couple of hangars and buildings, with barely a proper runway for the plane to land.

Henry was here on business as usual, putting on his adventurer clothing instead of his professor's suit, Henry picking up word that there was a new secret underground tomb near the Great Pyramids of Gaza. And Henry was sure that his chief competitor, the infamous French archaeologist Dr. Thomas, who was rather a treasure stealer, would be bound to find it first.

"Well Thomas wouldn't attempt to steal the treasure during the day, he'll have to wait until night comes…" Henry thought as there was currently nothing much to do for now, so he decided to just stroll through town until the time was right. "Better be careful however, don't want to run into Thomas or anyone else he could have brought…" Henry reminded himself.

Walking through town, through the streets, Henry eventually came to one filled with open markets, asking around if they saw Thomas as Henry looked for a cafe to get a nice cup of tea. And after feeling a little tired, Henry found one, coming inside as there was a few others, Henry sitting down at an empty table as a nearby cobra eyed him with interest. As Henry got his tea and began drinking, the cobra came over and introduced himself.

"Hello there, my name's Ammon, you don't look like a local, in fact I seen your kind before, you are an adventurer aren't you?" The cobra spoke, noting Henry's clothing.

"What's it to you?" Henry eyed the cobra with unease, Henry having encountered cobras before on his adventures and usually they aren't the friendly types. "Do you know about a French man named Dr. Thomas." Henry reaching down a wing into his bag for his revolver just in case.

"No, I don't know who that is." Ammon answered. "I'm just a local interested in historical antiques."

"Very well than." Henry raised up his wing as he called over the owner of the cafe to pay for his tea. "If you'll excuse me than, I have work to do." Henry getting up to leave as Ammon stood up as well.

"Maybe I can help you in whatever pursuit you're doing, I can be your guide, I know this area quite well and know the ways." Ammon offered his services.

"No thank you, I can manage myself and I work alone, I don't need any help, especially with whom I'm dealing with." Henry replied, refusing any help as he left Ammon and continued his business, going to one of the motels in town and checking in, waiting in a room until night fell and Henry could go out.

As Henry sat in the room, preparing for the upcoming confrontation, he couldn't get Ammon out of his head for some reason, thinking that the cobra could have been lying and warned Thomas that he was here. In that case Henry knew he had to be extremely cautious, not that he wasn't in the first place, he was always prepared for anything.

"Well things almost always go wrong for me anyway and I come out of it every time." Henry reassured himself as the sun began to lower, creating an orange haze in the sky above the mostly desert country.

And as night fell completely, with most everyone in town having gone to sleep, Henry of course, didn't, as it was time to go prevent the undiscovered treasure from being stolen. Henry needing a ways to go as he had to catch one of the ferries across the Nile, then trekking his way past the Great Pyramids, to the untouched area that supposedly held a secret entrance to the tomb. If it was open already, that meant Thomas already was inside and figuring his way through, having beat Henry.

However Henry was determined to get there first as he opened the door of his motel room, looking around first to check for anyone as there was only a few locals walking about. Thinking it was clear, Henry began his real adventure, of course if he looked harder he would have noticed there were a couple of Thomas' minions hiding in the shadows as they began to follow the adventurer.

Meanwhile Ammon was heading home himself, having had a long day and looking froward to some sleep when he saw Henry… As well as two suspicious looking animals following him from a distance. Ammon continued to watch as he wondered what he should do, interested in who Henry was really, however Henry told the cobra he worked alone, but something told Ammon he should follow as well.

"This may be the worst decision of my life…" Ammon told himself as he followed, watching as Henry boarded one of the night ferries across the Nile as the two animals following him had their own boat and went downriver, out of sight.

Ammon watched as Henry made it to the other side, nothing happening yet as Ammon found another night ferry and took that one.

Meanwhile with Henry, he disembarked the ferry, making sure to pay the toll for the ride before taking out his flashlight and revolver, walking through the site of the Great Pyramids. Carefully going through the ancient site, he made his way to the untouched area, but well before he could get there…

"Oh no…" Ammon said quietly as he was also on the other side of the Nile, following Henry from a distance as the cobra saw Henry's light suddenly move about wildly and Ammon hearing a struggle and by the sound of it Henry lost, Ammon hearing the laughing of a group of animals as they dragged off Henry, to who knows where. "I have to help him, no matter what he told me…" Ammon making up his mind to go and help Henry, whether or not the adventurer wanted it.

And I'll leave it there!

A maybe short start, but hey I haven't done this series in awhile!

Anyway… With that…

See everybird later!
