I just have to say that this is one of my favorite chapters. I hope you really like it too.

December 15

We just got home a couple of hours ago. Our days-long journey was a lot more action-packed than I ever would have expected.

The morning we left we said goodbye to Anana. Before we left she gave us a bag of supplies and food. "You've got a long journey home so you might need this." She also gave me a bow and a set of arrows. "You also might need this along the way since you left yours at home."

"Thank you so much, Anana," I said.

"You are very welcome. Have a safe journey home."

Anana waved us off and Inuyasha carried me on his back as we took off down the mountain. The first thing I noticed was that it was much colder outside of Anana's shrine. While we were there I had almost forgotten that it was almost winter.

"It's so cold out here!" I exclaimed.

"Do you want my robe again?" Inuyasha asked.

"No, you'll be cold. Besides, I already have a coat," I said. I was wearing one that Anana had given me. Apparently, she knew very well how cold it was outside of the shrine.

"Alright, but if you get too cold let me know. We've got a long journey ahead of us."

It wasn't long before I started to sense a demonic aura. "Inuyasha, there are demons nearby."

"I can smell them. Be ready for anything, baby." He put me on my feet and we walked for a while, on the lookout for demons.

All of a sudden we heard a roar and the next thing I knew Inuyasha picked me up and jumped out of the way as a huge foot landed where we were standing.

"That was close!" I said, my heart still pounding.

"You asshole!" Inuyasha shouted at the demon who was still eyeing us. "What the hell do you want?!"

"Your woman looks delicious," the demon said as it swiped its claws at us.

Inuyasha slashed his sword and the demon yelled as it cut his finger off.

"Stay away from her!" Inuyasha said.

The demon lunged at us again and Inuyasha grabbed me and jumped out of the way again.

"Alright, you son of a bitch! You're asking for it!" Inuyasha said. He charged at the demon, jumped into the air, and shot his adamant barrage at the demon. The huge diamonds pierced the demon and it fell dead.

Inuyasha sheathed the sword and came back over to me. "You alright, baby?"

"Yeah...look out!" I exclaimed as another bird-type demon swooped down towards us. There wasn't enough time for him to pull his sword back out and I acted quickly by putting up a barrier around us which repelled the demon.

The demon seemed to be angry now though and it came down on us again. I quickly pulled back an arrow and shot it.

"Nice shot!" Inuyasha said before kissing me.

"What's going on here? Why are there all of these demons everywhere?"

"I'm not sure where exactly they're coming from but there were a lot of them on the way here. Just be ready for anything."

We continued our journey and fought a few more demons along the way. They seemed to be circling us at one point. Inuyasha and I stood back to back, him holding his sword and me holding my bow.

"You gonna be okay, baby?" he asked.

"After all that training, I can take on a million of these."

"I'll hold you to that," Inuyasha said playfully.

And so went to town on the demons. We fought everything that came our way and defended each other every second of the way. I shot an exploding arrow at a demon that was coming at him and it was blown to bits. He jumped in front of me and used the wind scar taking out several demons. It was actually thrilling to be fighting demons like this alongside him. In the past, it was always him telling me to stay put while he fought to protect me but now I had the confidence and strength to protect him too and the adrenaline rush was amazing.

At one point during our journey, he was fighting a particularly large demon and that was shooting beams of energy at him.

"Inuyasha…!"

"Stay back, Kagome!"

I ran towards him anyway. The demon shot another beam at him and he used the backlash wave. Just for just good measure, I shot my arrow into it and the demon was very dead. It exploded and its demon parts rained down on us.

"Eww!" I exclaimed.

Inuyasha, however, just laughed.

Later in the evening, we ended up locked in another fight. There was a huge troll demon that was shooting acid at us. One of those blasts of acid landed close to us and I shrieked as the drops burned my hand.

Inuyasha quickly tossed his fire rate robe over my head. "Don't take that off."

Sure enough, the next time acid rained down I was fine.

Just as he got back to work on the demon another one started hovering above us. I tried to hit it but it was fast and I missed it. Inuyasha ended up chasing the troll down the side of a cliff. I ran after them to make sure he was okay but stood at the edge of it. It was quite steep and I'd never be able to get down there safely. Inuyasha used the wind scar on the troll and it was gone.

However, the bird demon was coming towards him next. "Inuyasha!" I shouted as I jumped off the side of the cliff. While in the air I shot my arrow at the demon. I know this was an extremely reckless decision. I had a feeling Inuyasha would catch me; one time I had jumped off Kirara's back from 20 feet in the air and he caught me. And if he didn't catch me this time...well, I'd have figured that part out later.

"Damn it, Kagome!" Inuyasha exclaimed when he saw me jump off the cliff. Sure enough, I landed safely in his arms. "Are you insane?!"

I kissed him. "I knew you'd catch me."

"You shouldn't make a habit out of this."

Soon it was starting to get dark and it was getting colder outside as well.

"What should we do for tonight?" I asked.

"There's a cave not far from here that we can stay in."

Sure enough, we found one close by.

"How did you know it was here?" I asked.

"I passed by it on the way," he said. "I didn't stop to rest though. I didn't know how long you had so I didn't stop anywhere."

I reached out and hugged him. He had been through so much those days when I was unconscious and I was extremely grateful that he took care of me.

We made a fire and had some of the food Anana had given us. Afterward, I spread out Inuyasha's fire rat robe on the ground and lay down on it.

"This is actually kind of cozy," I said. "Before I came to this era, I never would have pictured a romantic night as spending it in a cave but I like it."

He lay next to me and put his arm around me. "Good. I know it's not ideal, but we'll make the most of it."

I pressed my lips to his then looked into his gold eyes. "Don't you know as long as I'm with you, it doesn't matter where we are?"

"And as long as I have you, I don't need anything else, Kagome."

He kissed me again, deeper this time. When Inuyasha kisses me, I can feel all of the love that he has for me. It warms my heart, it touches my soul, and it makes me want to give him more. Sure enough, I was gripping the front of his shirt as my tongue entered his mouth to wrestle with his, becoming more aroused by the second. The urgency in the way I kissed him didn't escape him and he then rolled on top of me. The deep groan that he emitted turned me on exponentially.

"Yasha…"

"I need you," he moaned against my lips.

It was those three words that really lit the fire between us. One by one our clothes were discarded and strewn across the floor of the cave. Every kiss, touch, and caress brought us closer and closer until we were finally connected. Moving together as the firelight danced across our skin, we drove harder and faster while the cave was filled with nothing but the sounds of our love.

"Inuyasha!" I nearly shouted as he brought me there and the anticipation built up for him to bring me to that peak of pleasure again. With every moan that became louder with each thrust, every kiss I bestowed on his skin, and every movement of my hips meeting him when he came down, my desperation for him was greater than the need for oxygen.

When we make love, Inuyasha looks at me like I'm the most important thing in the world to him. With each position he worshipped me in that night, he made sure I knew that his love was only for me and it always would be. When we finally reached our climax and collapsed from exhaustion, we lay tangled in each other's bodies lost in such a moment of peace. Nothing needed to be said; everything we wanted to say was shown through the way we had just loved each other.
