Black Sheep
"Hey." Cassie frowned, walking into the hospital room where Theo was sitting with his arm in a sling.
"Wow, look at your face." Theo raised his eyebrows.
"What a lovely greeting from my husband." Cassie smiled, "Thea said I looked like terminator."
"You do." Theo laughed a little as Cassie nodded, walking over to him, "What happened with your mom? Jude and Thea kinda filled me in." He said.
"Joey got into the house." Cassie shook her head, "The kitchen window is smashed so he got in the back way. He got into bed with her whilst she was sleeping." She said as Theo shook his head, "And then proceeded to try and rape her. I got there just in time. Literally, just in time." Cassie said as Theo shook his head.
"God, how is she? Stupid question, I know." Theo said.
"She's with my dad. I know she'll be ok with him." Cassie nodded, "I just… I can't stop thinking about what if I didn't go there. What if I went straight home?" She sighed.
"Well you didn't." Theo nodded, "You got there in time. And you got Joey. You did your job. As a… cop. As a daughter." He said as Cassie nodded, "Don't fuck with the terminator."
"I need people to stop calling me that." Cassie laughed to herself as Theo smiled, "How's your arm?" She frowned.
"Well the bastard pulled my muscle completely off the bone." Theo nodded, "So I'm gonna need corrective surgery soon, and I'll be out of work for… six months at least." He shook his head as Cassie sighed. She knew that would depress him.
"Six months will fly by." Cassie assured him as Theo shook his head, "It will." She cupped his cheeks.
"Did they take him to county?" Theo asked as Cassie nodded.
"Yeah. I got a statement from my mom, or what best a statement she could make. I also found out that whilst he had her kidnapped, she was asleep and woke up one night or day to him masturbating beside her." Cassie nodded, "So… explains the semen on the sheets." She shook her head.
"Why didn't she say?" Theo asked.
"She said she didn't know if it would make a difference." Cassie sighed, "She's been through so much these past few days. How can a woman that gives so much and… is so good to people around her, suffer so much bullshit?" She shook her head, "I also found out today that I actually might have another big sister." She nodded.
"What?" Theo shook his head. He was beyond comprehension for that kind of statement.
"My dad could have another daughter." Cassie nodded, "Before my dad went to prison the first time when he was nineteen, he cheated on my mom with Marina, apparently she had a daughter nine months later. Same time my mom had Thea." She shook her head.
"I uh… I maybe have a confession to make." Theo nodded as she looked at him, "Your mom asked me to get an address for her, but to not ask her any questions about it." He said, "It was for a thirty-five year old woman named Lucia Kelly."
"Oh, really?" Cassie looked at him, unimpressed.
"She told me not to ask questions so I didn't. I just gave her it." Theo nodded.
"Lucia? That's her name?" Cassie wondered, "Did you see a picture of her?"
"No." Theo shook his head, "So… that could be your sister?"
"Apparently." Cassie sighed, "Listen to this… her father is either my dad or Rio." She nodded.
"Well, I know what I'd rather." Theo nodded.
"It's just so weird. I mean… what if she is his daughter? What's he gonna do? Is she gonna be part of the family now? Are we gonna get to know her?" Cassie wondered, sitting down beside on the edge of the bed.
"I think it's probably up to her, and your dad. Are they getting a test done?" Theo asked.
"She's agreed to it, yeah." Cassie nodded, "It's just hard to believe. It's always just been the three of us. We know each other so well. Too well." She said as Theo nodded, "And now there's this girl."
"I think it's best you let your dad make his move first, and get the test done. I mean… she might not even be his." Theo said.
"I know but… there's a big chance." Cassie said as Theo nodded.
"I called my mom, she's keeping Chase for the night." Theo said as Cassie nodded.
"I don't want my face to scare him." Cassie nodded.
"Hey, you're still beautiful. Nothing wrong with warrior wounds." He nodded.
"I'm starting to get a lot of them." Cassie nodded.
"Welcome to the police." Theo chuckled as she smiled, placing her hand on his leg.
"How is she?" Jude asked, standing in the living room with her father and Thea.
"She's ok. She's asleep upstairs in the spare bedroom. She didn't wanna sleep in ours." Punk nodded, "But she was… talking to me a lot." He said positively.
"You guys could have really did with this vacation this week." Thea nodded.
"Yeah, tell me about it." Punk nodded, "I'm just glad she's safe, and Cassie got here when she did."
"Us too." Jude nodded, "Well if there's anything we can do for mom, let us know."
"I do think she needs to get away from this place for a bit." Punk nodded, "Not today or tomorrow, but soon."
"And what about my big sis?" Thea asked, looking at Punk with a small smile as Jude rolled her eyes.
"You told her?" Punk asked Jude.
"What do you mean her?" Thea scoffed.
"I had to. I had to tell both of them." Jude said as Punk ran his hand through his hair.
"Talk about not having any self-control, dad. Jesus Christ. Two pregnancies and one prison sentence within a month?" Thea raised a brow.
"Yeah, alright. Save me the lecture." Punk nodded.
"Are you and mom still fighting about it?" Jude asked.
"No… no, I don't think it's even on your mother's mind right now." Punk said as Jude nodded, "But we did have a huge fight again about it all. She told me how she really felt about it. It's really got to her that… this girl could potentially be my daughter."
"Well yeah, she's only potentially your daughter because you cheated on mom. I'd be upset about that too." Thea said.
"We worked through all of that." Punk said, "I guess this is just bringing it all back." Punk shook his head.
"What are you gonna do?" Jude asked.
"Well I gotta go see this girl. Lucia." Punk said, "I gotta meet her before we do this test at least." He nodded, "But I… I need to be here for your mom right now."
"What happens when it's a match, and you're her father?" Thea asked, "Will we be seeing her at Christmas?"
"You really don't help in these situations." Jude scolded her sister as Thea shrugged.
"I'm not thinking about Christmas, Thea. To be honest." Punk shook his head, "One day at a time."
"She is… right, though. What happens if she's your daughter? What do you do?" Jude asked.
"I don't know. Seriously." Punk said, "I… I gotta get to know her. I never knew she existed. If she's my daughter… I have to talk to her about what she wants… if she wants anything from me."
"Yeah and how did you feel when you met Dan after all those years? Did you want anything from him?" Thea asked him as Punk sighed to himself.
"No." Punk admitted as Thea nodded.
"So I think you need to be prepared for a girl that… might not even want you in her life. If she's been fine without you for this long." Thea shrugged, "Harsh but… it's true."
"Or she could be just as overwhelmed as you." Jude nodded.
"I don't understand why she never came to you sooner. If Marina told her that her dad was you or Rio, why didn't she come to you and find out?" Thea asked.
"Well, apparently she did." Punk said, "Whilst I was in prison. She came here and… Joey answered the door. Must have been when he was here with your mom." He shook his head, "She ran off." Punk shrugged, "Then Marina told her that I was in prison and I think maybe she made her mind up about me then."
"Well I'm sure you can understand why." Jude nodded.
"I just need to let it sink in." Punk said, "It's still really hard to believe." He nodded.
"For us too." Thea said, "It's always… just been the three of us." She nodded.
"Yeah, for me too." Punk assured her, "I need to just… meet her and then get the test done. And then move from there. Whether I have your mom's support or not."
"You will." Jude nodded, "Of course you'll have her support."
"I don't know." Punk shook his head, "I think this has really hurt her. And I get it. I don't know how I'd feel if… if she'd had another kid with another person. I don't know how I would feel about that kid or what I'd be supposed to be doing." He admitted.
"I think you would just… treat him or her as one of your own." Jude nodded, "Which I think mom will too. She's been through a lot, maybe now isn't the time to ask her about it right now but… I don't doubt she'll not want anything to do with it."
"We should go." Thea nodded to Jude, "It's late."
"I'll speak to you both tomorrow." Punk nodded.
"Well we'll come by to see mom anyway." Jude nodded, walking out to the door, "We'll get through this." She rubbed his arm as he nodded.
"I know." Punk said, giving her a hug as she wrapped his arms around him tightly. He looked on at Thea standing with folded arms, looking at him, "Too old for a hug?" He looked at her as Thea rolled her eyes, walking over and joining in on the hug.
"Idiot." Thea sighed, hugging him tightly as he kissed her head.
"Nothing changes for us." He reminded them both as they nodded.
"We know." Jude said, pulling out of the hug as did Thea.
"See you tomorrow." He nodded as Thea and Jude left the house, closing the door behind them as they walked down the path.
"What time is it? Thea asked tiredly.
"Eleven." Jude looked at her phone, standing outside the car, reading a message from Sean and smiling.
"What?" Thea looked at her as Jude turned the phone around, showing her the picture of Mirren and Leela fast asleep, "Sweet." Thea smiled.
"Wish that was me right now." Jude laughed a little as Thea nodded.
"Yeah I need my bed." Thea nodded, "Let's go." She said as Jude looked past her, noticing someone coming down the street, walking down the street. Thea turned around to see what she was looking at, noticing a woman beginning to slow down as she approached their parents house.
Thea turned back to Jude, both of them thinking the same thing as they estimated the woman's age and her appearance, which was that of Marina in certain ways.
"Is that here?" Jude whispered, watching as the woman began to notice them, pausing a little bit away from them.
Lucia looked over at Thea and Jude, pausing as she noticed them staring at her, figuring they had to be the daughter's AJ had told her about. She desperately wanted to run away. She felt like the black sheep.
Thea looked at Jude, nodding to her before making her way over to Lucia who stayed paused.
"Lucia?" Thea questioned, standing across from Lucia who nodded.
"Yeah." Lucia said.
"I'm Thea." Thea nodded bravely, extending her hand out as Lucia looked at it before shaking it. They were all aware now of what was going on, meeting each other was the last thing for them to do.
"And I'm Jude." Jude nodded, walking over as Lucia nodded.
"Hi." Lucia nodded nervously.
