Nemuri adjusted the blanket over herself as she got herself comfy against the pillows.
"So, what else is there we can tell him about? Come on you two."
"Is all of this just gonna' be about us?" Shouta scoffed. "What about what your costume used to be before the Principal found out and permanently banned it?"
Hizashi burst out laughing.
"Hey, there was nothing wrong with that costume!" She defended.
Toshinori looked to the voice hero for context.
"It was just like a trenchcoat and then she was naked underneath."
The number one chuckled.
"Bold."
"Thank you." She grinned flicking through her phone. "I'm looking at my old photos to see if there's anything interesting."
"I don't think people would use the word 'interesting' to describe any of us in high school." Shouta replied.
"Awwww…"
Nemuri turned her phone around.
"What is it?" The erasure hero asked.
Hizashi smiled as he looked down at his husband in his arms.
"It's us on our wedding day."
He smiled, beginning to sign 'LOVE YOU' before motioning to his chest 'I LOVE YOU'.
"You know sign language?" Toshinori asked.
"Oh god no, just that and even something as simple as that took forever to learn."
"I remember when you broke that out at the altar, the whole place was already pretty close to tears anyway but the second you did your little love sign everyone started sobbing. You never do things by half do you, Casanova?"
Shouta shook his head with a smirk.
"I wanted to show him how much he meant to be in his own language."
"And the fact that you're willing to do something like that is just one of the reasons why I love you so much." Hizashi reached down and pressed a kiss to his husband's cheek.
The next morning Hitoshi groaned awake to a dead arm thanks to his cousin's head which apparently had been lying on it the entire night.
Kacchan cracked open an eye.
"Mornin'."
Hitoshi removed his arm, pins and needles flaring in it, before clambering over the explosion hero and out of bed.
"You want tea?"
"I'll come with you."
His cousin rubbed a hand across his eyes with a yawn before stumbling behind him out into the corridor. Reaching the common room they both stopped in their tracks.
All Might, Midnight-sensei, Dad, and Papa were all fast asleep on the couches, the couple cuddled up against each other.
Kacchan smirked noticing the empty bottle of sake on the floor beside Midnight-sensei.
"Yeah I think they had some fun last night."
Hitoshi laughed.
"You might want to make them numerous cups of tea, they're gonna' need it."
Walking over to Papa he noticed the hearing aids placed on the coffee table. Gently tapping him on the shoulder he was answered by a groan before the voice hero turned to him.
'MORNING'
Papa looked around before down at his husband.
'TIME WHAT?'
'EIGHT'
His eyes widened seconds later.
Hitoshi held out the hearing aids.
'THANK YOU'
Papa quickly popped them in before gently beginning to shake Dad awake.
"Shou… Shou, wake up."
"Mmmmm?"
"We need to get ready for class."
All Might was the next to awaken.
Kacchan chuckled.
"You might want to go before everyone else wakes up."
Shouta ran a hand through his hair in an attempt to make himself look at least slightly presentable.
"Nem!"
His call got no response.
"Oyy, Nem!"
Picking up the pillow from behind him, Hitoshi and Kacchan watched as the blind hero threw it at her with a surprising amount of accuracy.
Nemuri grumbled.
"What?..."
"Get up."
"Ughhhhh…"
Papa looked at his phone.
"I have two missed calls from Nezu."
"Oh boy."
Kacchan smirked.
"Haha, you're in trouble."
Shouta reached over the couch to grab his little brother and pull him over the top of it, the two of them laughing as they play fought before his cousin was pinned by the erasure hero.
"Okay, okay, you win!"
Dad smiled.
"You'll beat me at some point but not today."
"I'm gonna' send you flying so hard on your ass, just wait!"
Shouta scoffed.
"I'd like to see you try, Kat Kat."
"If you children would stop fighting we need to go report to Nezu." Papa stated.
"About what?"
"How the blackout went last night."
Nemuri groaned.
"How much of that bottle did you drink?" Shouta asked.
"Too much."
Papa turned to him as the teachers walked out of the dorm.
"We'll see you later."
Hitoshi waved. Having finished making the tea he handed a mug to his cousin before heading back towards the room they'd been sharing.
Kacchan flopped down on the bed, nearly spilling his tea as he did so as he burst into laughter.
He joined him on the bed, sitting back against the headboard.
"I can't wait for Nemuri's class today, she's so hungover."
"You don't call her Midnight-sensei?" He asked.
"I do at like school when everyone's there; she's basically another Aunt to me and Deku she's been around that long. I once called her Auntie Nem and she nearly had a midlife crisis so even though she sees us as nephews she isn't the biggest fan of the title."
"Do…" Hitoshi paused, unsure whether to continue. "Do you remember their friend Oboro?"
His cousin took a breath.
"It's weird like, I shouldn't because we were really young at the time, but yeah, a little. I didn't see him much because that was before Hisashi got arrested."
"Who's Hisashi?"
"Deku's piece of shit Dad, don't worry about him, he's not getting out of prison anytime soon."
"He got arrested?"
"Yeah, I didn't go around there much back then because Mom didn't want me around him; she knew something was off and that Auntie Inko seemed different but she didn't have any proof so she was just cautious. Shouza clearly knew exactly what was going on because he pretty much moved in with the Midoriya's in the last month or so before he got arrested. With him not being at our house much, Uncle Zashi and Oboro didn't come round, and Shouza didn't want them anywhere near Auntie Inko's. The three of them used to take us to the park so I would see him there, and my Mom has a photo of me wearing Oboro's goggles but I don't really have any memories that stick out, I just remember him being there, and then he wasn't. Then Hisashi got arrested after he hurt Shouza and a month later Oboro died during their placement."
His cousin turned to him.
"How do you know about Oboro anyway?"
"Dad took me to visit him and his Mom."
"Ahhh." He nodded. "I'm glad he's willing to talk about him a little."
"Did he not talk about him back then?"
"What after he died? God no, neither of them would."
It had been two years since Shouta had become a part of their lives. He'd grown so much in the time they'd spent together since they day they'd found him outside the restuarant they'd worked at back then, the teen becoming their first son before Katsuki burst onto the scene the year after.
So to recieve a call about how he he'd been involved in a villain attack had her losing all the breath in her lungs.
And then the news came about how Oboro hadn't survived and every parental fibre in her body flared as she rushed to grab Katsuki and head to the hospital. Attempting to call Masaru was unsucessful at first, the call going to voicemail so she quickly sent him a text before rushing for the car.
Her phone began to ring, she answered it in a second.
"I'm leaving work now but it'll take a while to get home, I'll be there as soon as I can."
"I'm going to have to take Katsuki with me. Inko isn't in the right place right now to go, and I can't leave him with her when she's already looking after Zuku on her own."
"It's not ideal but Shouta needs you there, he's already been alone for too long to begin with."
"He'll have Hizashi if his Mom's haven't already gone to collect him." Mitsuki took a deep breath as she scrubbed a hand down her face. "I can't believe he's dead, and Shouta could have died too."
"You need to stay strong, sweetie; Shouta needs you to have your brave face on."
"I know." She nodded. "I'll talk to you later; love you."
"I love you too."
It had been half-an-hour or so since they'd been brought to the hospital and Shouta didn't feel any less sick than when he'd arrived. He could hear Hizashi crying quietly to himself across the room and he felt pathetic in the fact that he couldn't bring himself to stand up and go comfort him.
Instead he just felt empty.
Voices in the corridor caught his attention.
"I blame the school, I mean, admitting a blind student in the first place was already a stupid idea, but then sending him out on patrol, no wonder that kid died, did he really have any chance of saving him?"
Everything inside Shouta seemed to come rushing to the surface in a matter of seconds before a thick, heavy sob burst from his lips as his head slumped to his chest.
And in that moment Hizashi lost it.
Shouta heard his friend's footsteps head across the room before seconds later the sound of something hitting the wall with a thud followed, which he quickly connected to be someone.
Hizashi cried out as the floor squeaked underfoot, and then there was a metallic rattle.
"Zashi?!" Shouta called in concern, hopping down from the bed and heading over.
"What the hell is going on?"
Two sets of footsteps approached.
"This kid just assaulted me."
Shouta's eyes widened.
"Are these the Purple Highness kids?" A softer voice asked.
"Stay out of this Tsukauchi." The guy who he guessed was holding down Hizashi retorted.
"Like hell, what did you do for him to resort to assault?"
"Nothing, we were just talking."
"Liar!" Hizashi shouted with a growl, clearly agitated.
"He's right." The guy they'd called Tsukauchi agreed. "So, Yamada is it? Why did you assault the officer here?"
"He was talking shit about Shouta, blaming him for Oboro's death because he's blind."
Shouta felt awkward as they talked about him as if he wasn't there.
"And would you look at that, there's the truth." There was movement. "Here kid." The metallic rattle could be heard again before he felt Hizashi come to stand beside him.
"Go back to the station, both of you, we'll discuss this later." The guy Shouta presumed to be the chief ordered.
There was a silence for a few seconds before the guy cleared his throat.
"Regardless of the prior circumstances I would never recommend assaulting a police officer, especially when you're on the hero track, UA is a well-respected school whose image is everything, if you're caught doing something like that then they'd drop you in a second."
He tried to reach out for his friend's arm; it took a few guesses before he finally made contact but soon found the arm moved away sharply from his touch.
And the action hurt more than Shouta was willing to admit.
"HIZASHI!" Came a cry before two sets of footsteps sprinted down the hallway.
Hana and Fumiko.
"Oh my goodness my little boy. I'm so sorry, I'm so so sorry, sweetie. You were so brave."
He folded his arms against his chest and lowered his head, hoping that everyone in the room would just forget he was even there in the first place as he tried not to cry.
"Can we take him home?"
"Of course, we'll be in touch at a later date."
"Thank you."
And Hizashi left without another word said.
Which left just him and the police guy.
"Do you know if someone's coming for you?"
And didn't that question just tear at every part of him.
His throat hurt as he held back a sob before stumbling to a reply.
"I don't know."
Because Mitsuki had Kacchan.
Masaru would still be at work.
Inko didn't leave the house.
And had Zuku to look after.
The only other option was Sakura but she had other kids to take care of.
So no, he didn't know if anyone was coming for him.
And a part of his brain was screaming that nobody ever would.
Oboro wasn't coming for him.
He wasn't going to be in the hospital like he was after his Mom died.
He wasn't going to be at school either.
He wasn't going to be in the park.
Or the pizza place in town.
Or at his house.
He was gone.
Forever.
But he hoped that someone would.
A whimper escaped his lips as he shook, hands scratching at his eyes as he began to cry. Hands came to keep him upright as the room seemed to close in around him.
"Woah, kid, you're okay, you're okay."
He's knees hitting the floor jarred every injury in his body but he just felt numb regardless.
He'd failed and Oboro was d-…
D-d-dead.
He was dead.
Oboro was dead.
He'd died.
He'd heard him die.
He was standing beside…
He and Zashi were.
And the blood…
He cried out, unable to stop the torrent of emotions overcoming him.
"Just let it all out, kid." The police guy patted him on the back. "It's okay."
"I-I'm sorry…"
"You didn't do anything wrong; from what I've heard, this was all just an accident with a tragic result. Come on, let's get you sat down, I'm sure the doctor wouldn't be too happy to see you out of bed."
Shouta allowed his weight to be taken at the police guy helped him to his feet and back across the room, supporting him gently down on the edge of the bed.
"Thank you."
"No problem; now I have to take some calls, are you gonna' be alright on your own in here?"
He nodded wordlessly.
"Okay, kid."
The door clicked closed behind him.
En route to the hospital, Mitsuki's phone rang.
'Sakura'
"Hello?"
"Mitsuki, I just heard the news, are you on your way to get Shouta?"
"Yes, I'm not too far away now."
"I had four missed calls when I came out of the meeting, my colleague back at the house took the message about everything for me but that was over an hour ago."
"They must have finally found my number, or spoke to someone who knew it." She shook her head. "Oh my poor baby, he shouldn't have had to wait this long."
"Let me know how he's doing will you?"
"Of course."
"Thanks, Mitsuki, I'll talk to you later; give Shouta my love."
"I will, thanks, Sakura."
Reaching the parking lot Mitsuki grabbed Katsuki from his car seat and lifted him into her arms before rushing inside the hospital.
"Shouta Aizawa."
A nurse in the corridor walked over with an expression of sadness.
"He's right through here; poor thing's been waiting a while."
Reaching the room she stilled in her tracks, her heart tearing at the sight of her son lying on his side with his back to the door all alone in the hospital room.
"Thank you."
The nurse nodded before walking off.
Slowly clicking open the door she entered inside and over to the bed.
Katsuki began to squirm in her grip, arms reaching out.
"Sho Sho Sho Sho!" He called.
The boy's head rose a little before he turned towards them. His eyes were dark red from crying and he looked pale as a sheet, but a small smile came to his face as he held out his arms.
Mitsuki obliged and handed over Katsuki.
"Hey, Kat Kat." Shouta began softly, allowing the boy to cuddle in against him.
"Sho Sho!"
Taking a seat beside him on the bed, Mitsuki wrapped an arm around her son and pulled him against her side. After a few minutes, his head came to rest on her shoulder.
"I knew you'd come." His small voice stated.
And she had to try very hard not to cry, sniffling back tears.
"Of course we were coming, you're our kid, never forget that, Shouta."
Gently bouncing the toddler up and down in his lap, the teen smiled.
"Thank you for loving me."
