Addendum 4: Character Profiles and Miscellaneous Letters

By SodiumChlouride12, derived from Fire Emblem, owned by Nintendo.

Hey! It's me, Sodium here. I had some leftover days to write this week, and so I included some extra content I couldn't quite squeeze into a single chapter. Below, you'll see some additional character profiles found from Kishuna's library, alongside some letters written by minor characters in the cast. I hope that this serves as a decent appetizer to keep y'all busy until Friday.

As for me, everything is going along very well! My life is content, and my health is great. I don't see myself taking any breaks for a while, unless I get burnt out or something crazy happens. Lately, I was thinking of doing an Author AMA. Presumably, this would be a sound opportunity for y'all to tell me how y'all feel about the story, and perhaps some plot suggestions. I don't know how I would go around on doing it, though my guess would be either on here or Reddit. More info TBA.

Note: I've decided to write the written portions without italics. Writing half of an entire addendum like that felt weird.

[The following are excerpts from several character profiles found in Kishuna's Library, unread by either Florina, Erk, or anyone else in the main story.]

Samuel, the Enigma.

Name: Samuel Castillo.

Hometown: Little Elm, Texas. (Earth)

Appearance: A tanned individual of mestizo descent, and of slightly above average height (5'10"). Eyes are heterochromic, while the left may be morph gold or emerald green, the right will always be dark brown. Build varies, though usually lean and fit. Approximate weight varies between 140-175 pounds. Possesses dark, thick, curly hair.

Age: 19-20 years of age.

Battle Tier (F-S): Starts off initially at an F, but may scale to S if allowed.

Summary: Outsider from a planet named Earth. Born May 5th, 2020, Samuel was born to two Mexican-American parents in the city of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Spent the first few years of his childhood there before bouncing between the states of Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota, and Iowa again until the year 2008. The Great Recession occurred then, and his parents moved to Little Elm in hopes of better opportunities and to get closer to family living nearby. Lived there for most of his life and considers the town his home. Because of the initial instability in his adolescence, Samuel associates living in one place as an indicator of stability, and strives to obtain a home for this purpose.

Was rather close with his family growing up. Had a younger sister and a twin brother. He and the brother did not join each other in college, as Samuel stayed in Texas to pursue Architectural engineering while the other went to Vermont. The separation brought Samuel much distress, though this went unresolved by the time of his death. Cause of death was an automobile crash. Fault remains unresolved.

Samuel can be described as possessing above average intelligence, though not enough to classify him an outright genius. He can be arrogant, disrespectful, and at times, utterly lazy. The latter stems from his lack of motivation, so it's recommended he form relationships with ambitious individuals. When motivated, nothing can stand in his path. He can also find common ground with other intellectual types such as Erk and Canas. In nine out of ten trials, the former emerged as the best friend figure. This comes from their matching intellect, aloof attitudes on life, and notable lack of conflicting love interests. It should be noted neither share a potential spouse (Lyn/Florina), (Serra, Priscilla, Nino).

He has many weaknesses and strengths. As a morph, his bones possess increased density, granting him superior durability over his peers. However, he's also incredibly reckless, and when placed in enough volatile situations, especially ones involving his friends or partner, he tends to tack on injuries. These injuries may stack on over time as his morph biology also makes healing staves less effective on him, and holy water will burn through his skin if not outright kill him in higher volumes. Thankfully, his impulsive tendencies only apply towards his own personal welfare, and do not extend to his war tactics. His rationale blossoms as a tactician, and his high value assigned to his allies pushes him to be rather conservative in his orders, though he will be aggressive if he needs to. Loves to innovate.

Unknowingly possess an allergy to almonds. Distrustful of authority, especially nobles. Capable of lying, though those close to him can find out based on "tells" he gives off. Loves children. Finds it very difficult to learn how to tie different types of knots. Favorite fruits are peaches. Hates pineapple on pizza. Ambidextrous...

Kent, the Red Knight.

Name: Kent.

Hometown: Caelin, Lycia.

Appearance: A tall individual with reddish hair. Usually wears his combat armor at all times, which is red. Quite muscular and of decent build. Has a sharp, authoritative face.

Age: 20

Battle Tier (F-S): A

Summary: A cavalier hailing from the canton of Caelin. Comes from a long line of knights before him. His family is unknown, though it is assumed both his parents are deceased. He may have a younger sister involved with the Church. Grew up with a rigid set of rules that only grew more rigid when he became a squire. Respects authority entirely, but will question orders if he judges them unjust. Extremely dedicated and proficient in his craft. Has the potential to become the best paladin in the entire army.

Kent can be described as the very example of a medieval knight. Quiet, stoic, and honorable, the red knight carries with him a poise unmatched by anyone else. He's incredibly loyal to his liege, Lyn, and will gladly do anything to secure her safety. It's possible for him to overstep his boundaries, however, especially if Lyn were to find interest in a rebellious character, such as Samuel. In regards to the tactician, Kent will almost certainly be at odds with him at some point. Their disagreements originate from many things. They have different viewpoints in subjects such as strategy, outlook on life, and most importantly, their opinion on the status of authority. Kent's opinion is that authority should be followed at nearly all times, while Samuel interjects that it should be questioned constantly. This already strenuous rivalry can be exacerbated if the tactician chooses to court his liege. Despite his good composure, Kent is not immune to jealousy.

Fundamentally, Kent is a well-meaning, good individual. He's hardworking, honest, and considerate of others' emotions. His moral compass is among the strongest in the army, rivaling Samuel's in his commitment to it. In some trials, the two can come to a consensus on this detail. This can bring about mutual respect, though the two will never be friends.

Kent can form friendships with nearly every knight in the army, including Heath. He can also marry Lyn, Fiora, or Farina. Kent also possesses a high tolerance for alcohol, though unfortunately, he hardly ever has the opportunity to flaunt this talent. His strict, self-imposed discipline discourages partying...

Nino, the Gifted Mage.

Name: Nino.

Hometown: Town Unknown, Etruria.

Appearance: A cheery, bubbling young girl with straight, green hair. Rather short for her age (due to malnutrition). Small build paired with piercing blue eyes.

Age: 14

Battle Tier: (F-S): S

Summary: Nino was born to her father, Juge, and mother, Iris. The two were incredibly powerful mages, noted for being one of a half dozen magic users who could use a spell barring a tome without immediately collapsing to Total Magic Deprivation. Nino and her brother, Kai, lived peacefully with them until Sonia arrived at their door. The morph held the young infant hostage and used her to interrogate her parents for knowledge on dragons. Afterwards, she killed her entire family, but spared Nino as Nergal thought she held some use. From then on, Sonia would become Nino's unwilling "mother", (despite their lack of similarities, it's a wonder anyone believed this ruse. Come on, Sonia has black hair and gold eyes. What are the odds that none of these traits passed on to h—) and Nino would suffer under her abuse and neglect. From then on, Nino's life would be one of struggle and longing.

Nino suffers from subtle, albeit noticeable trauma brought upon by her upbringing. Sonia's constant verbal insults have amounted to her possessing low self-esteem and some anxiety. Despite her cheery demeanor, secretly, she holds little regard to her own wellbeing, and will sacrifice herself for a perceived greater good. But there is a hope for the young girl. Compliments do well to improve her morale, and she'll hold those that give them to her in great respect.

Nino can bond with many characters. She can fill the familial void in her heart by connecting with Canas (step-uncle), or associating with Florina (pseudo-sister) and Samuel (pseudo-brother). She can also find common innocence with Rebecca, and form fulfilling romances with Jaffar and Erk (though the both are questionable due to the age difference). Her interactions with Legault will only bring Nino more pain, however...

(The following is a letter Rebecca wrote to her father, the magistrate back in Pharae).

September 10th, 982

Dear Father,

I apologize for my late reply. Everything's been so...chaotic lately. We departed from Badon a week ago, and I'm sure Lord Eliwood had already sent you a letter of what happened back in the isle. I just want to tell you...everything is okay. The injuries I suffered were serious, but I've recovered well. Serra says I only need a few more days of rest until the pain in my head goes away...

You...mustn't worry for my safety. Lord Eliwood ordered me to stay away from the battlefield from now on. Serra said if I suffered any more injuries like that, I'd be done for. This revelation pains me a bit, but I think I'm still useful. The army lauds Sir Lowen and I for our skills in the mess hall. Seeing my friends eat something scrumptious and nutritious brings me so much joy! Tell me, Father, do you remember our time eating together? Our happiness when we used to eat mother's meals?

I...must admit. I think about her much. It felt like just yesterday when the sickness took her. But...I suppose we shouldn't languish over the past. A friend of mine consulted me to focus on the present, and I think I'll heed his advice. There's enough sadness in this army from our failed mission, so why not smile?

Something interesting happened to me in Badon. While we were there, Wil decided to take me and Dart out to town. I saw so many shops, ate so much good food, and even observed the breaking of a new ship into water. We had so much fun; I don't think I can ever forget this for the rest of my life! Wil can be such a drag sometimes, but inside, he's still the same friend I've always had. As for Dart, he reminds me a little bit of my brother...Dan.

There's...a lot of murmuring from the truth about our tactician. I don't know what to feel about it, but privately, I feel like there has to be some reason behind his past. I just cannot see this man as anything other than the friend he was to me. I've already told you plenty about him alongside Lowen from our past correspondence. What do you think? Is Samuel really the demon everyone says he is?

As for Lowen...I thought about the question, you asked of me earlier. Do I love him? The answer is...I think I do. When I see him, I think about all the things mother told me to see in a man. Well-mannered, honest, and a good cook! He's all these things and more. Oh, how my heart beats every time I see him. Serra instructed me to play hard-to-get, but I find it so hard to restrain myself when I'm with him...

Oh, blimey. Here I go again. I'll just leave that as it is. I'd cross it out, but there's only so much paper on this thing.

I long for the day that I can see you again, Father. I think after this little adventure of mine, I'll settle down with you in our village. Perhaps Lord Eliwood will give me a job at the castle. Anyway, I'll wait patiently for your next reply. I love you, Papa.

Love, your gracious daughter, Rebecca

(The following is the letter Samuel left for Lyn, of which he assumed would be his last message to her).

Dear Lyn,

In this letter, you will find my final message to you. By the time you read this, I will have already traded my life away for my niece, Laniakea...

First off, I just want to say I am so...so sorry. As of writing this, I can only imagine the despair you will deal with. Well...perhaps not. In many ways, you could say I've already experienced such emotions to the extreme. However, I wish not to dwell on myself. I'd rather talk about you. Lyn, you are the most beautiful, most amazing person I've ever had the experience of meeting in my life. There is no one else I would have rather spent the little time I had in Elibe with, and no one else I'd rather have given my heart. You are truly a goddess worthy of worship, and the best to share a bed with. My only regret is that I couldn't have spent more time with you. That I couldn't have created a family with you and Lani, and fathered the children you sought.

Secondly, I must talk about Laniakea. There is much you must know about her. Despite her appearance, she is not a normal child. Her red eyes and white hair are traits she inherited from her mother, a woman who was half human and half dragon. She, herself, is three quarters human and a quarter dragon. Due to this, Lani's has the body and mind of a six-year-old despite being alive for twelve. To my understanding, her father was a bandit from Sacae who pressed himself onto her mother without consent. Lani's lived most of her life void of love as she was separated from her mother long ago. Lani...deserves happiness. My hope is that you don't direct anger at her and instead allot her the love and support she so desperately needs. If you cannot, I'm certain Canas can look after her, though I would much rather this task befall to you. I trust you.

Thirdly, I want to declare that I will leave most of my possessions to you. I have a standing bank account in Araphen with some funds, of which I wish for you to use for Lani's welfare. If you choose to go there, tell the teller my full name, and claim you were my fiancé. They should give you access to it without fuss. Also, as for my spare mechanical hands and other magical items, I think it would be best if I left them to Erk. The mage will most certainly want to reverse-engineer my device, though I doubt he will succeed.

Lastly, I want to reaffirm that...I am truly sorry. I let everyone down. Please take care of yourself. Move on. Find another love. A woman like yourself doesn't deserve to be depressed for her whole life due to the actions of her impulsive fiancé. I never deserved you. There are plenty of other men who are much more worthy than I.

I'm going to leave you with an old quote my mother once told me. I hope you enjoy it as my last message to you. Forgive me if it sounds a bit weird, for I must translate it from her native tongue to ours:

Life never stops moving forward. Stay focused and never slow down because of regrets. Smile, forgive, forget, and move on.

I love you, Lyn. Persevere and be happy.

(The following is a letter sent from Serra to her superior, Mother Helena. Mother Helena is the head cleric in Ostia).

November 2nd, 982

Dear Mother,

Hiiiiiiya! How are you doing, Helena? I can assure you I'm doing just fine! So maybe I don't have to send you letters as often, huh?

Heh, I think I already know the answer to that. You always were a strict one, Mother. I know that you require me to write to you at least once a month. But, you mustn't worry for my safety! As the prettiest and most respected woman in this army, men come crawling to my aid! I haven't a scratch on me...well...perhaps unless you include that debacle at the Isle. I think I'd rather not talk about that.

I've thought about what you told me earlier. About making more friends. And no...not just with men. I've found some enjoyment by conversing with this little pegasus knight named Florina. She's. So. CUTE! Her hair has the most adorable shade of lavender, and her skin is as clear as ice! I MUST find out what she puts in her hair. Erm...for research, of course. It's not that I think she's prettier than me or anything. She's incredibly shy, and she wants me to teach her how to be more confident. I'll whip her into shape in no time!

Hey, so...about my earlier question. I've been...feeling sick lately. It started about a few weeks ago and well...my body just feels different. I've felt a loss of energy, some nausea, and my taste preferences have changed. I scoured through our medicinal scripts and searched through the symptoms of what it could mean, but I came up inconclusive. If anything, I think this scares me more than anything else. I don't know what it could be, but our army has a quarantine policy that makes large outbreaks of horrible diseases unlikely. I think I will consult with Rebecca and ask her what she thinks. I'll send you an update if we get anything. Whatever this is, I don't think it's contagious.

You needn't worry about Erk. Despite my wording from my earlier letters, he's just...a friend. A very good friend. He can never be anything more than that. We took our vows, didn't we, Mother? We shall never marry a man or conceive his child. That's how it's always been, ever since Saint Elimine first took her's many years ago. When this incursion is over, I will return to you, Mother. I will return to Ostia, where I will scarcely see Erk again. As is our sacrifice as women of the cloth.

I hope you take care of yourself. I will most certainly do so myself.

Until next time, Serra
