Chapter 90: Hell's Bells Part 2
Riley stared down his three opponents, his face stoic as usual. On his field was Film Magician and a face down, while his opponents each had a Triple Ancient Gear Hunting Hound. One of his opponents also had a Cyber Summon Blaster at the ready, leaving Riley with 1600 life points and them at 4000. It was currently Riley's turn.
"I'll start with Cards of Sanctity, letting us all draw until we have 6 cards in our hands. Next, I activate my trap card level Play. By tributing one monster on my field, I can reduce the level of all of your monsters by my monster's level, so now your Triple Ancient Gear Hunting Hounds are level 6. Then I activate Foolish Burial to send C/C Critical Eye to the graveyard. Next, I activate the spell card Monster Reborn to bring back Critical Eye, and Inferno Reckless Summon to bring out the other copies in my deck."
"Yeah, bring them on!"
"Yeah, none of them can beat our monsters, shrimp!"
Riley remained emotionless and he continued his turn.
"Next, I activate the spell card Montage Fusion. Now by targeting your Hunting Hound, my spell card treats itself as it and lets me use it to Fusion Summon C/C/C Rock Sword of Battle!"
"What? The brat can Fusion Summon?"
"Next, I activate the spell card Critical Tuning to target another Hunting Hound. Now my spell treats itself as a level 3 monster due to yours being level 6 and I can treat Critical Eye as a tuner to Synchro Summon C/C/C Rock Blaster of Battle! Lastly, I activate the spell card Critical Overlay. Once more, I target a Hunting Hound, copying it and treating Critical Eye as a level 6 monster so that I can Xyz Summon C/C/C Rock Armor of Battle!"
"No way! This kid can use all three summoning methods?"
"I've got a bad feeling about this!"
"I detach one overlay unit to activate Rock Armor's effect. Now he gains attack points equal to half the sum of all Earth monsters on the field (2500-7000). Now Rock Sword of Battle, attack his Triple Ancient Gear Hunting Hound! And when Rock Sword battles, he gains the attack of all other monsters on the field (2400-12,500)."
"Shit."
The massive rock sword rammed right through the beast, sending its owner flying.
Obelisk Force 1: 0000
"Now Rock Blaster attacks your monster. And when it attacks, it gains attack equal to the combined levels of all monsters on the field X200 (2200-7800)!"
The rock cannon blasted the machine to pieces, hurdling its opponent into a wall.
Obelisk Force 2: 0000
"Now Rock Armor, finish him off."
The last remaining soldier could only watch in horror as the demonic armor chewed up his monster and spat out the remains, pelting him with shrapnel as he joined his comrades in defeat.
Obelisk Force 3: 0000
Riley sighed in relief. He didn't have much time to rest, however, as another explosion rocked the building.
"DECLAN!"
Declan pushed his glasses up, not very impressed by his opponent's play.
"An impressive play, to be sure. But the bigger they are, the harder they fall."
"Tell that to your Marksman, because he's my monster's target! But first, I equip him with Super Strident Blaze. Finish off his archer!"
"I activate the trap card-"
"No you won't, because Super Strident Blaze makes it so you can't activate any cards or effects during the battle phase."
Declan's fiend stood no chance, disintegrating underneath the massive proton blast.
Declan: 1300
"I'll end my turn with one card face down and end my turn."
"Then its my turn. I draw!"
"Don't forget, thanks to your Gate's effect, you lose 1000 life points."
Declan grimaced as the lightning sapped away his strength.
Declan: 300
"I still have enough to win this duel! I summon D/D Ghost (600/300), but it won't be around for long, because by tributing it, D/D/D Oblivion Abyss King Ragnarok can banish your Cyber End Dragon."
After absorbing the small orange crystal, Ragnarok shot out strange appendages out at Zane's monster, mummifying it before warping it away.
"This duel is over! Ragnarok, attack him directly!"
"I don't think so! I activate the trap Ring of Destruction! Now your Abyss King gets destroyed, and both of us will take damage equal to your monster's attack points!"
"What? But that means..."
"This duel is over! If I can't defeat you, at least I can end this duel in a draw!"
A massive explosion rocked the building, sending both duelists flying as the dust settled.
Declan: 0000
Zane: 0000
DRAW!
"Declan!"
Riley ran up to his older brother, helping him to his feet as he clutched his side in pain. Zane turned to his platoon of soldiers, finding them moaning on the floor.
"Pathetic."
Marching over to the fallen soldiers, he readied his duel disk. Realizing what their commander had in mind, the soldiers cowered in fear.
"Please, no! Have mercy!"
He did not, remorselessly carding all three of them without saying a word, much to Declan's horror.
"Those were your own soldiers! They gave your life to serve you."
"And in the end, they were defeated by a mere child. Anyone who can't pull their weight may as well not exist. See ya later."
"Wait!"
But Zane didn't, and in a flash he was gone. Sighing, Declan slumped up against a wall.
"Damn it."
"Declan? Are you alright?"
Declan turned to find his remaining lancers, sans Yuya, running up to him.
"Are you okay? We saw this huge hole in the building, and-"
"I am fine, as is Riley. Where are Yuya and the others?"
"We don't know. We checked the whole place where they kept us, but found nothing."
Just then, Sam entered the room, fear all over his face.
"You guys might want to see this."
Worried, the Lancers ran into the next room, where a TV broadcast was airing. Roget was speaking to the city, with footage of the carnage playing in the background.
"Citizens of New Domino City, I am afraid that I have most terrible news. Terrorists have invaded our city and are taking no prisoners. And the High Council has done nothing to protect all of you. As such, I am declaring a state of emergency. Remain in your homes until further notice. Sector Security is doing all they can to protect our city. Good luck, and may god help us all."
The broadcast cut off there, leaving The Lancers staring in shock.
"Gong don't like this."
"Yeah, protection. Protection for the Tops, he means."
"Figures he would use a literal invasion as a means to procure power for himself."
"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go stop him!"
The Lancers were just about to head out when they realized something.
"Um, where is Roget?"
Julia sighed in annoyance.
"Well, so much for that plan."
"He lives in a tower on the outskirts of town. Shouldn't be more than a thirty minute drive, if you use a Duel Runner. There should be a few spares in the garage."
Everyone turned to Sam, a little creeped out by how nonchalantly he had told them this information.
"How did-"
"I sometimes have to go over there and clean the whole place. Its not fun, but its a living."
Nodding, Declan turned to the Lancers.
"First things first, we need to find the others. From what I've learned from the council, they're being held up in an underground holding facility along with the other losers of the tournament. If we free them as well, they may prove useful allies. Once we've gathered all of our resources, we march on Roget's headquarters."
"Right!"
With that, The Lancers departed on their desperate mission, knowing that if they failed all of their worlds were doomed.
