I'm glad people enjoyed the last chapter, I knew it would be important to show Sasuke and Itachi's reunion but to also show that things aren't magically perfect. Also, Jiraiya's definitely gonna be in trouble when she doesn't make it home on time-Naruto may have forgotten the time limit for their training trip, or at least how long she had left, and after all someone's gotta go warning Kumo and Kiri about the Akatsuki.
And it'll never be simple with Naruto, after all she's not the type to take anyone's crap.
Shibuki had given Fu 55 million Ryo-it was a fairly high bounty for such a small village but it made sense given just what Kakuzu had done and what he was capable of.
Of course Fu had given Naruto the money, since she was the one who had killed him.
Once that had been sorted the newly formed duo headed directly to Kumo, though it was at a much slower pace than Naruto and Itachi had traveled, they had time, even if it wasn't that much, and it took them just under two weeks to reach Kumo-and while Fu didn't bother to disguise herself Naruto decided it would probably be a good idea not to go in wearing her coat and showing off so to speak-she knew some of her parents history with Kumo. Her father had fought the current Raikage and his brother and she knew Kumo had made one kidnapping attempt, which her father had foiled, rescuing her mother and killing the kidnappers back when he was younger, when her parents had been little more than teens.
So, with much regret she tucked her coat away into a seal and she cast a henge over herself, giving herself slightly more tanned skin, shoulder length black hair and no whisker marks on her cheeks-though she was still wearing orange as they entered the village and set to work exploring as they tried to figure out the best way to deal with the situation, to get to the Kage and warn him about the Akatsuki, after all they weren't there on behalf of the village which made it somewhat harder to actually get an audience with the man.
Of course Naruto should have predicted that it would happen in an unorthodox manner- namely her and Fu being dragged to see the Raikage by a very angry Jounin who's name Naruto hadn't quite caught.
And for the first time it actually wasn't Naruto's fault! It was Fu.
They'd been discussing their options while drinking some rather nice tea when a shinobi, perhaps a year older than them had made some comment about Fu's clothes-Naruto wasn't entirely sure, she'd been having a mental conversation with Kurama about their plans when they got home and then Fu had been on her feet punching the guy in the face-and from there it had turned into a brawl, and in a show of Jinchuriki solidarity Naruto had felt that she needed to defend her new friend so she'd gotten involved and then a Jounin who the guy called sensei had arrived and they were being dragged off to meet the Raikage-Fu was wearing her headband, unlike Naruto so the Jounin was angrily talking about the possible need for reparations since Naruto may or may not have accidentally burned down the tea shop with a fire jutsu when a couple of the assholes friends had gotten involved.
In any case they were soon dragged in front of the Raikage, who was sat down, looking very unamused, "Are you two the foreigners who burned down a tea shop?" he demanded sharply, and when Fu opened her mouth Naruto's hand flew out, covering the green haired girls mouth before she could put her foot in it.
"We're sorry Raikage-sama."
"I what are you doing here? We haven't invited any shinobi from Takigakure."
"I'm not from Taki." Naruto admitted, "And Fu-san is here with me... kind of on an unofficial mission-"
"You're on a mission in my village without my permission." the mans eyes narrowed, "Who the hell do you two think you are?"
"We're here to help." Naruto's eyes narrowed at the man, "To give a warning-"
"A warning?"
"Yes Raikage-sama." Naruto lowered her hand from Fu's mouth, "About an organization calling themselves the Akatsuki-"
"We know of them." the Raikage's voice was dismissive, "They're hardly a threat they're just a bunch of mercena-"
"They're hunting down Jinchuriki." Naruto interrupted the man, ignoring the outraged look on the face of the man, her eyes narrowed as she crossed her arms over her chest.
"What?" that made the Raikage hesitate somewhat, his eyes narrowed, "Hunting them down?"
"They're trying to capture the Jinchuriki and extract the Bijuu inside of them-which will kill any Jinchuriki who get caught by the way."
"Why?"
"Not a clue, I'm sure they have some reason but I'm not exactly friendly with them." Naruto remarked wryly."
"How do you know this?"
"Because she's already saved my life." Fu spoke up, "I'm a Jinchuriki-"
"Fu!" she resisted the urge to curse as the Raikage tensed up and the Anbu who'd hidden in the shadows stepped out of them, clearly ready to grab the two girls.
"A Jinchuriki! You come here unanou-"
"We're not here to attack or cause trouble!" Naruto almost yelled the words. Surely Fu should have realized how bad it would look to A. Jinchuriki's were usually seen as weapons, and she was in the room with the Raikage-of course it looked bad.
"Of course we're not-" Fu looked offended and Naruto kicked her leg hard.
"Fu-san just shut up a second!" she let out a breath, "Listen Raikage-sama. I know it seems bad but, and I totally mean no offense but if we were here to cause trouble then half of your village would be wiped out by now. But we're not. We are here because we want to make sure that the Akatsuki don't get their hands on other Jinchuriki."
"Who are you?"
"I..." Naruto hesitated before sighing loudly. "At this point I feel like a lie just risks making everything worse so-" she dropped the henge and A reeled backwards, a stunned look on his face.
"Namikaze-"
"No, but close." Naruto tucked her hair behind her ear, "I'm Nohara Naruto. Namikaze Minato was my father, I know you and your brother met him right?"
"Yes, yes we did." A was tense as he stared at her. "And... your mother-"
"Uzumaki Kushina. I have no doubt that you know of her too." that comment was pointed and A tilted his head, conceding that point.
"I had heard rumors that there was a girl who was the Yellow Flash reborn."
"I take it as a compliment." Naruto rubbed the back of her neck somewhat sheepishly. "Listen. I know this has all gone so badly but I really didn't come here to cause trouble."
"As you've said." A was clearly tense, "You're a Konoha shinobi. Our relationship with Konoha hasn't exactly been secure lately-"
"Yeah, well your shinobi do have a habit of trying to kidnap Konoha citizen's-"
"Slander-"
"Oh bullshit." Naruto snorted, "We both know that you're filled with shit Raikage-sama. Sure I doubt you had any say in the orders given to kidnap my mother when she was a teenager but I have no doubt that you were behind the attempt to kidnap
a member of the main branch of the Hyuga clan."
"I have no idea what you're talking-"
"Play dumb all you want." Naruto waved a hand dismissively, "That's not the point. Kumo don't overly like Konoha and Konoha doesn't overly like Kumo either. Currently our strongest political relationship is with Suna which is largely to do with my influence I'll admit, but right here and right now it isn't about borders or old grudges it's about keeping your Jinchuriki safe from a very dangerous group of S-rank missing nin okay? We came here in good faith to warn you about the threat, it's not exactly nice of you to repay us by getting pissy-" the Raikage's mouth dropped open in shock as he stared at the blonde girl, surging to his feet, but she kept talking before he could interrupt, "because honestly it would have made no real difference to myself or Fu-san if we had decided we didn't want to bother trying to help you and warn you about them, it would have been a lot simpler actually-after all we're risking our own safety to try and do the right thing and you owe us better than the disrespect and rudeness that you've shown us so far."
"You have some nerve." A snapped the words, "Talking to me like that-"
"And you have some nerve not to be thanking us for for it but there you go." at this point Fu and the anbu guards were gaping in shock as Naruto and A glared at each other.
Neither of them broke eye contact for several minutes-but eventually A looked away, scowling slightly as he did.
"Just leave." he ordered, "And try not to burn down anymore of my village while you're leaving."
"With pleasure." Naruto huffed and shook her head, "Just remember that you were warned when they do come after your Jinchuriki."
"You." A looked at one of the anbu. "Go get Nii Yugito. Tell her she has a mission, she's to escort these girls out of the village."
"Yes Raikage-sama." the man rushed off, and the Raikage lowered himself back into his chair, "You will wait here until she arrives."
"Ugh, fine." Naruto rolled her eyes, rocking back on her heels, glancing sidelong at Fu, who still looked shocked at what had just happened-it wasn't often that someone would have the nerve to lecture a Kage as she just had.
It was perhaps ten minutes later that there was a knock on the door and the Raikage spoke up. "Come in."
And a blonde woman entered the room-she had long hair in a black and purple blouse with clouds printed on it, a red sash tied around her waist, and Kurama spoke up in her mind.
"She's a Jinchuriki brat, she's got Matatabi sealed inside of her."
"Good to know, thanks fuzzball."
"Raikage-sama, you summoned me?" the woman looked at the two girls curiously as the Raikage nodded.
"I want you to escort those two out of the village immediately."
There was a slightly curious look on the woman's face but she was clearly very professional because she nodded and turned to the two girls. "If you'd come with me now."
"Sure." Naruto glanced at the Raikage as the woman led her and Fu out of the room.
Was it just her or was there, for just a brief second did he give her a very slight nod.
So he'd very purposely called for one of their Jinchuriki to escort her and Fu out. That could just be seen as a preventative measure in case Fu decided to attack, or, as Naruto suspected, it could be seen as his way of giving Naruto his permission to warn one of his Jinchuriki's of the danger in person.
Once they were out of the building Fu spoke, scowling, "I can't believe this Naruto-san he just kicked us out we were trying to help-"
"I'm sure Raikage-sama had a good reason." Yugito spoke up, her voice brooking no arguments.
"Fu." Naruto resisted the urge to roll her eyes when the green haired girl when to speak up, "He's not been as unreasonable as you think-"
"But we were just trying-"
"To warn the Jinchuriki." she saw Yugito tense slightly, though to give her well deserved credit the woman's steps didn't falter.
"Warn the Jinchuriki?"
"There's a group called the Akatsuki, they're hunting down the Jinchuriki in order to extract the Bijuu from inside of them for some reason."
"Oh?"
"A bunch of S-rank missing nin." Naruto explained casually, as if she wasn't talking about people who wanted all three of the women dead. "They tend to work in pairs from what I've seen, they're all pretty strong."
"I see." Yugito nodded slowly, carefully, "How do you know."
"They tried to capture me." Fu spoke up, glancing between Naruto and Yugito, "What's going on-"
"Yugito-san is a Jinchuriki Fu-san."
"What?"
"I am." Yugito nodded, "I assume that's why Raikage-sama asked me to escort you out of Konoha." she glanced at Fu, "You're one too then?"
"Yeah." Fu nodded, glancing at Naruto, who gave a very small shake of her head. She didn't think they'd have problems with Kumo, but if they did she'd rather they didn't know that she was a perfect Jinchuriki, that would be an amazing advantage for them to have over the other village.
"If they're so bad how did you get away?"
"She got away because of myself and an ally of mine." Naruto answered, "We handled the attackers."
"Oh?" Yugito raised an eyebrow, "I assume you're capable then."
"Very capable.." Naruto's lips twitched in amusement, "Despite my age."
"I'm sure Kumo's Jinchuriki will be fine." She paused, "Where will you go next?"
"I've already warned Gaara-kun. I plan on going to Kiri next, rumor has it that they have a Jinchuriki."
"Good luck." they'd reached the edge of the village, and Yugito nodded, offering them both a very small smile, "And thank you for the warning."
"We'll probably meet again someday." Naruto nodded, "I'll see you around Yugito-san."
"And I'm sure I'll see you both again someday." and with that they parted ways.
