January 25
Today was the day of Inuyasha's surprise party and I had to make sure everything went exactly according to plan.
First I woke up before him to make him a special breakfast. By the time he came into the room yawning I was all done.
"Happy birthday, love!" I said as I went over to give him a hug and kiss. "I made your favorite."
"Thanks, Kagome. You're the best," he said happily.
I led him over to sit and put a plate of food in front of him. "The best husband in the world deserves the best birthday breakfast." I kissed his ear and then sat next to him. "Any fun plans today?"
"Not really. I was kind of hoping to spend it with you."
"Well I'm going to be busy at the shrine for most of the day," I replied. "Besides, there are some important things I need you to take care of."
"Like what?"
"Well, we could use some more firewood. Also, I think some demons got into our shed last night. There's a huge hole in it."
"Damn, really?"
"Yeah, we really need that fixed, or else we'll have a shed full of snow soon."
"Alright, well I'll try to finish all of that as fast as I can."
"There's no need to rush," I said almost a little too hastily. He raised his eyebrows at my reaction. "What I mean is, I'll be at the shrine until this afternoon so there's no need to rush through anything. We'll hang out later."
"Sounds good to me, baby."
Phase one of the plan was successful. I was glad Shippo had agreed to blast a hole in our shed with his fox magic. I figured that, along with the firewood, would keep Inuyasha occupied for at least a couple of hours and give us time to set up for the surprise party.
Once Inuyasha had left to get the firewood, I grabbed a few containers of ramen and the decorations Sango and I got and went to her house.
Sango and Miroku had already started decorating when I got there. Shippo and Rin were there too. They were putting up the big "Happy Birthday Inuyasha" banner that Sango, Rin, and I had made.
"Looks, great guys!" I said as I put everything down.
"How did the hole in the shed thing go?" Shippo asked.
"It was perfect!" I said. "That will definitely keep him busy for a while."
"That's a lot of ramen you brought," Rin observed.
"Never underestimate Inuyasha's love for ramen," Miroku said.
"He almost loves ramen more than Kagome," Shippo added.
We spent a while putting up decorations. The gifts were stacked in one corner. I was designated to cook all of the ramen. I had also brought some chips and sodas for everyone to have as well. Kaede and Kohaku came and Sesshomaru was the last to arrive. By then everything was set up.
"I'm going to get Inuyasha," I said.
"Hurry up, that food smells really good," Kohaku said. He had been eyeing the ramen since he got there.
I went home and found Inuyasha in the backyard on the roof of the shed. "How are things going, Yasha?" I asked.
"Almost done," he replied. After a bit more banging he jumped off the roof. "Hopefully whatever stupid demon that did this will stay away now."
"I have a feeling they will."
He pulled me into a hug and kissed my lips. "Are you done at the shrine now?"
"Yup, all done."
"Good." He placed a very passionate kiss on my lips. "I want to cuddle with you now. Let's go inside," he said as he laid kisses along my throat.
He was very tempting but all of that would have to wait until later. "Actually honey, I just realized I left my scarf at Miroku and Sango's house. Can you come with me to get it?"
"Sure."
As we walked back to their house I was nearly bursting with excitement. I couldn't wait to see how Inuyasha would react to the surprise party. I guess I was making my excitement a little too obvious though.
"What are you smiling like that for?"
"Nothing."
He stopped walking and looked at me for a moment. "Are you hiding something?"
I shook my head. "Of course not…!"
"And why do you smell like ramen? Were you guys having ramen without me?"
I didn't expect that to be the conclusion he would come to but I went along with it. "Um, yes. Yes, we were. Sorry honey."
"You're all a bunch of traitors."
I giggled. "I'll make you some ramen when we get home."
We arrived at Miroku and Sango's house. I had instructed everyone to be as quiet as possible because with Inuyasha's good hearing any suspicion that there were more people there would give the whole thing away. I knew they had left the door unlocked and we went right in.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY INUYASHA!"
Inuyasha looked absolutely stunned. He looked back and forth between me and all of our friends, the decorations, and the gifts. "Wow…"
"Surprised?" I said.
"Hell yeah!" he said. "Thank you, everyone, this is so amazing!"
"We wanted to do something special for you," Sango said, giving him a hug.
"Do you want to open your presents first or do you want your ramen first?" Rin asked.
"That's a tough decision," Inuyasha said. He pretended to think for a moment. "Hmm...let's go with the ramen!"
