"Witches?" Bloom questioned sharply as she stared between her group of apparent friends and dormmates to the other girls around their age in the café at the moment.
"Problem with that pixie?" One green haired witch demanded glaring at Bloom who looked a bit pale but also tense, as if she was ready for a fight.
"Considering a trio of witches nearly sucked my life out when I was six I think I have a good reason to be wary!" Bloom said and that caused everyone in the café to pause, even the teachers looked startled at hearing that.
"What?" One of the other witches asked in disbelief.
"The Sanderson sisters nearly sucked my life out, literally, to keep themselves alive and young when I was six years old. It's only because of two teenagers, a cursed cat, another girl my age, and a freaking zombie of all things that the leader of the sisters didn't drain me dry." Bloom said and she was eyeing all of the witches warily while even her dorm mates looked surprised and horrified to hear about this.
"Sanderson sisters? That coven of three who sold their souls to some demons for powers after the accident that stripped them of their inborn magic?" One of the older women in the café asked looking at a green skinned woman who nodded her head slowly.
"Honestly that sounds like them. They were banished to Earth however and that was well over three hundred years ago if you look at the stories." The green skinned woman said and Bloom snorted slightly although it was a bit strangled as if she didn't mean to.
"Yeah they were hung back then but managed to cast a spell where if certain conditions were met on Hallows Eve then they'd come back to life. They'd die at sunrise if they didn't suck the life out of a child though." Bloom agreed making the witches wince slightly. Yeah they honestly couldn't blame the red head for being wary and distrustful of witches if she had an experience like that as a kid.
"Well you don't have to worry about that kind of thing happening because of our students. Anyone who tries to sell their souls like the Sanderson sisters did is immediately imprisoned in the worst prison the magical realms has to offer. The worst any of the girls will do is turn one of you into an animal or maybe a pumpkin…probably give you boils or pimples or something like that but definitely no soul stealing." The green skinned woman tried to assure the red head of that and Bloom took a shaky breath.
"I'll try to give you all the benefit of the doubt, can't judge a whole group by a few bad apples right? But if I see a spell coming at me without warning or someone tries to hypnotize me I will start hurling fire and do my best to set them on fire." Bloom said and her dorm mates looked confused for a brief moment.
"Bloom you haven't even managed to transform yet. How do you think you're going to be able to—" Stella was cut off by Bloom holding up one hand and it immediately caught on fire without so much as a single incantation or a few seconds of concentration.
"Apparently trauma makes it a hell of a lot easier to access your magic, and after the first few times I spontaneously ignited I started doing my best to learn how to control it. I'm actually a lot better at using my magic without trying to transform." Bloom said dryly and the witches winced slightly at hearing the part about trauma.
"Actually…most of the time when a magicals magic is awakened…the nature of that magic is decided by the circumstances of the awakening and how the child is raised by that point. Most witches were born to witches and raised to be witches, same with fairies…but since you were on Earth and so young you probably didn't have any inclination to either the darker magic or the lighter magic. It's possible that your magic became a hybrid due to that but since it awakened during a time of mortal peril and trauma…" The green skinned woman was staring at Bloom curiously for a long moment before she glanced at the woman sitting next to her who was wearing all blue that had stared at Bloom shocked for a moment before schooling her face as the fire was snuffed out.
"Zarathustra send a message to Griselda to have her and Faragonda arrange a meeting with a specialist for the young lady. It's possible her magic needs a shove towards the lighter side for a full transformation but if not and she turns out to be a hybrid or witch…" The green skinned woman trailed off and the other teachers in the café winced in understanding. Yeah it wouldn't be good to have a witch, or any magical who was leaning more towards the darker types of magic really, in a school full of light users. The way her magic would try to forcefully reconfigure itself to light would end up causing a lot of trouble for both the girl and everyone near her.
"I'll send it at once Headwitchress." Zarathustra said already beginning to compose the email to send to the fairy teachers about this.
"Good. Girl, relax. I doubt anyone here is dumb enough to provoke a magical who's element is fire of all things, much less one who has a very good reason to not trust or hold back on witches. Your teachers will probably be by in a moment to collect you and get you seen to by a specialist to make sure everything is on the level so to speak." The green skinned woman said motioning for Bloom to sit and relax.
Bloom glanced back at her friends who all looked at her and shrugged their shoulders.
"Whatever you choose to do is fine with us Bloom. Not sure if we would leave you alone here anyways after hearing about that." Stella said trying to give her friend a reassuring smile and making Bloom nod slowly and then glance back at the witches unsurely for a few seconds.
"Might as well enjoy the music and some drinks while waiting for me to get told I'm a freak." Bloom said trying to joke with a shaky smile on her face as she moved towards a table that was a bit away from most of the witches but wasn't completely isolating themselves away from everyone.
"Bloom you're a fairy from Earth who has fire powers strong enough that you're body temperature is hot enough to fry an egg on your bare skin. You have to have flame proof clothing because of your powers. You weren't ever going to be normal." Stella said smirking at the red head who blushed a bit at that and shoved her playfully.
"This coming from the girl who we don't even let near the science labs without having shields at the ready? And have you forgotten that you tend to glow in the dark because of your powers you living night light?" Bloom asked making Stella squawk slightly in indignation at that while Musa snorted loudly and Flora giggled.
"You both are powerful in your own rights and definitely far from any definition of normal that I can find. It makes no sense for you two to try and attempt otherwise." Tecna said coolly as she sat next to Stella.
"Oh you can bite me you walking laptop!"
The witches could only watch as the fairies sat amongst them and relaxed a bit as they began to bicker and snipe at each other as if it were an everyday thing amongst them.
Only the teachers noticed how Bloom was keeping a close eye on all the witches but seemed to relax more with her friends bickering around her.
