"I love mom."
Olivia read the card. It was two weeks later, and everyone was happy. After Karen came home crying, Olivia spoke to Mellie. She asked Annalise to speak to Karen. Olivia made it clear that Mellie would not be seeing Karen again. Mellie tried to explain and Olivia cut her off before she could finish her sentence. Olivia didn't care how Mellie tried to explain the situation to Karen. She only cared about her child crying. She was willing to end their friendship if Mellie couldn't accept that.
She also let Fitz know that she would send him packing if he insisted on Karen having a relationship with Mellie. He agreed with Olivia. Karen was getting to know more about Annalise growing up in an adopted family and she wasn't asking about Mellie anymore. The last time she spoke about Mellie, she said that Mellie is Kelly's mom.
"Thank you. I love you too Karen."
"Can we go to Build A Bear?"
"Yes."
"The babies are staying home with dad?"
"Yes."
"Let's call grandma and ask if she wants to come with us."
"Grandma is on a cruise ship."
"When can we go on a cruise ship?"
"How about we go for your birthday next year?"
"Can we go on a Disney cruise?"
"Yes."
"Is dad coming with us?"
"No, he's staying in DC with the babies."
"When can the babies take a vacation?"
"We're going to the beach house for Christmas this year. The babies are coming with us."
Olivia left Karen downstairs for a few minutes. Fitz was okay with them going to Build A Bear. He needed a few hours to himself to look for a job. He was getting tired of not earning a paycheck.
It was very awkward living so close to Mellie. She didn't call Olivia, so when they saw each other at the grocery store Olivia didn't know what to say. Mellie always smiled and she proudly showed her baby in her car seat sleeping next to her groceries. She didn't ask about Karen.
When they arrived at Build A Bear, Olivia let Karen show her around the store. They stopped walking when Karen noticed Mellie standing in the checkout line with a stroller. She snapped a picture of the bears and continued texting. Before Olivia could grab her hand, she ran over to Mellie.
"Is that bear for Kelly?"
"Yes, I'm decorating the nursery. How are you Karen?"
"Good. Mom is giving me a new bear."
The cashier put the bears in a bag and waited for the next customer.
"They're buy one get one free. You should get two bears. I'll see you around Karen."
She looked around for Olivia and waved hello when they made eye contact. Mellie was at the exit when Olivia got to the checkout line and held Karen's hand.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I want two bears."
"How about two bears and an ice cream cone after we checkout?"
"We should get bears for the babies."
Olivia was happy Karen was still smiling. It meant that she wouldn't have to worry about her being upset seeing Mellie around DC.
"I want two ice cream cones."
