January 28
I was in our room putting away the laundry I had been folding before dinner. Inuyasha was in the main room putting wood in the fire. Or at least I thought he was.
When I came out, I found him on the floor rubbing Nico's stomach.
"Who's a good kitty?" he said as Nico rolled around on his back. "Who's a good kitty? You're a good kitty, Nico."
I held back a laugh. It reminded me of how he used to play with my family's cat Buyo years ago in my era. "Having fun?"
He blushed when he saw me watching him. "Um, yeah." Then he picked up Nico and cradled him in his arms. "He's just so damn cute, Kagome."
I kissed my husband and rubbed Nico's head. "He sure is. Everyone else should be here soon. They're going to love Nico."
Inuyasha laughed a bit. "Yeah, especially the twins. Get ready Nico, they really like to play with ears."
A few minutes later our friends arrived for our game night.
"Hey guys," I said when I let them in. Nico hid behind my feet and let out a little meow as he peeked around to look at them.
"Aww! Who's this?" Sango exclaimed when she saw him.
"Our new kitty," I replied as everyone came in.
The children immediately became interested in Nico and started to play with him. Kirara was also interested and they introduced themselves in their own cat way. I could tell they were really going to hit it off.
"When did you get him?" Miroku asked.
"Yesterday, officially," Inuyasha said, watching in amusement as the twins and their little brother played with Nico.
"He's been wandering into our yard for the past few weeks so we've decided to officially make him ours," I added.
"That's so sweet. He's adorable," Sango said.
"You know, Kagome," Shippo said. "I always thought you were more of a dog person."
Inuyasha angrily picked him up by his tail with his fist raised, to which Shippo shrieked and covered his head. "Why you littleā¦!"
I took Shippo out of Inuyasha's hand. "Alright guys, what are we playing tonight?" I said, in an attempt to calm them both down.
"That Loaded Questions game we played last time was fun," Miroku suggested.
We all gathered around while I set up the game. Inuyasha continued to glare at Shippo, still mad about what he said earlier. But everyone else was happy and the children continued to have fun playing with Nico and Kirara a few feet away.
Shippo has always been an absolute savage and I love it. His clapbacks against Inuyasha are legendary.
