Hidden Tales From The Chamber of Secrets - 98 - The Dark Harem

by Polydicta

A hyper-short story as an antidote to the current trend in dark HP fiction, and the preponderance of harem stories.

Hidden Tales From The Chamber of Secrets - 98 - The Dark Harem

.

The sun had gone down some hours earlier.

There was a click.

A female voice rang out, "anyone got a shilling for the electric meter?"

A/N:

Because people don't seem to get this, here is some history:

Back in the dark ages (1960's), coin-in-the-slot prepayment electric meters were not uncommon.

When the money ran out, there would be a loud click, and the electric supply would be cut off - including the lights. Usually, they required a shilling (£0.05) coin to pay for a bit more electricity. The usual cry was, "Got a shilling for the meter?"

Before they went over to electronic prepayment keys, coin-in-the-slot electric meters were taking 50p pieces.
