Something To Tell You

"Get your hands off me!" Cassie yelled, shoving Mark, smacking her hand up against his throat as he grabbed her wrist and twisted it a little.

"Just calm down." He warned her, "I'm not gonna hurt you."

"Then let go of me." Cassie spat as Mark let go of her, putting his hands up and taking a step back, "What the hell are you doing here? Stay the hell away from me." She warned.

"I just want to talk." Mark said.

"I don't wanna listen." Cassie made clear, "You should be in prison. You know you should. How… How can you be a cop all your life and… and do what you did? Let alone worm your way out of punishment?" Cassie spat.

"I didn't worm my way out of anything. You gave me the lesser sentence and… my lawyer fixed me up with an appeal." Mark shrugged.

"You blackmailed me." Cassie spat, "You withheld information against me. I… I had no choice."

"I would have gave in eventually but… you were just that desperate, huh? How is mommy doing?" He smiled.

"Seriously, stay the hell away from me." Cassie warned, trying to get past him as he took her wrist again, "Stop touching me!" Cassie yelled angrily.

"Would you just be quiet?" Mark scoffed, "I'm trying to have a conversation with you."

"I don't want to speak to you. We aren't friends. At all. You… You took those pictures from my sister's case file and sent them to her. Do you have any idea what that can do to a person? As if… as if what she went through wasn't enough but to see it?" She shook her head, "I didn't think much of you before but… I certainly didn't think you could do something like that."

"I was just doing what I was told." Mark made clear.

"You were stupid enough to get involved with drug gangs. And I bet they were just using you. Using you to make sure they had a… a protective bubble around them. Happens all the time. Why'd you think we got so many PI's hanging around the streets these days?" Cassie shook her head.

"I don't gotta be here telling you this. I'm trying to do a decent thing right now." Mark nodded as Cassie chuckled.

"Impossible. I think you're beyond that." Cassie shook her head, "You sat there, across from me, knowing how much my mom means to me and my family, and you knew where she was. You didn't tell me. You had to gain something for it. For my own mother's life." Cassie spat, "You are a vile piece of shit." Cassie pointed her finger at him, "I really did think better of you before all of this."

"Yeah, that seems to be the general opinion nowadays." Mark nodded, "If you don't wanna listen then fine. But I think it might be something you'd wanna know." He shrugged as Cassie looked at him.

"Oh, what's this?" Punk smiled, lying onto the bed vertically where AJ had just gotten out of the shower and was applying some body lotion.

"Picked it up at the store." AJ told him, passing him the tub as he smelt it and nodded to himself.

"Coconut?" He guessed as she nodded.

"I swear you were a bloodhound in your past life." AJ shook her head as he smiled, taking some of the cream and putting it on his face, "No no… it's not for your face." AJ warned.

"Oh, it's soft." Punk smiled.

"It's body lotion. Phil, if you want face cream I will buy it for you." AJ rolled her eyes.

"No, I can just use yours." Punk mumbled, "How come women's stuff always smells nicer?" Punk scoffed as AJ looked at him, "Everything smells fruity or coconutty."

"Cause society has suggested that women should smell like flowers and be perfect whilst guys can be slobs and do the bare minimum." AJ shrugged, putting the lid on the body lotion.

"Am I a slob?" Punk laughed a little.

"No, you're perfect." AJ scolded as he smiled.

"There's always so much products, though. Like… what's toner?" He asked, "When I moved back in here after prison and all three girls still lived here, I would go into the bathroom and just… be confused. What's this stuff for?" He questioned as she chuckled.

"Well it's good for oily skin and good for your pours." AJ nodded.

"Ok but there was an eye toner and then just a normal toner." Punk said, "And what's a hair mask?" He questioned, "Because I figured it'd be like a hair net or something but I opened it up and it was just… more cream."

"You put it in your hair when you wash it. Keeps it healthy." AJ said as he nodded, "Don't lose sleep over it, though." She assured him as he chuckled.

"It's just a lot. I do not miss standing on hair appliances now that the girls don't live here." Punk nodded, "It was always Cassie's. She'd leave it right at her room door."

"Yeah they got their messy sides from their mama." AJ nodded, "I do miss them in the house, though. Don't you?" She thought to herself.

"Of course I do." Punk nodded.

"And sometimes I miss them being little. As great as it was to watch them grow up and start their own lives, I just… I miss them running around and messing with each other, making sure they did their homework, tucking them into bed at night." She frowned followed with a smile, "I miss that. That's why I love when the grandbabies come to stay."

"I know, plus we can always hand them back after a couple days and get a break." Punk said as she chuckled a little.

"That's true." AJ smiled, "I am ready for bed." AJ nodded to herself.

"You put all that fancy cream on and wash your hair just to go to bed?" Punk raised a brow.

"Yes." AJ nodded, "Move so I can get in." She nudged him as he shuffled to his side of the bed, watching her get under the covers.

"When are we going shopping for the party?" Punk asked her.

"Next week." AJ told him, "And you can stay at home if you're gonna complain the entire time."

"I just get bored." Punk shrugged.

"Then I'll go with Thea." AJ said.

"No I wanna go." Punk said childishly as she just smiled, "I'll behave I promise." He nodded, leaning over and kissing her sweetly as she kissed back.

The next morning, Thea was surprisingly awake bright and early for once. She took the kids to school and even had time to go into a coffee shop before starting work. She waited in line with her wallet, eventually ordering herself a coffee before leaving the shop to go back to her car.

"Hey, Thea." Vincent noticed her as he walking towards her.

Thea looked up, rolling her eyes as she unlocked her car.

"Hi." Thea said vaguely.

"How you doing?" Vincent asked her.

"I'm good, thanks." Thea nodded to him, "Really good."

"Yeah, you look it." Vincent smiled, "How's the family? Heard about your mom-"

"They're fine." Thea said.

"Look, I know your dad isn't exactly my best friend anymore but… I hope there's no hard feelings or anything between us." Vincent said with regret as Thea looked across at him.

"I don't even know you." Thea laughed a little, "You dealt me for a couple months. That was it. Just… doing your job, right?" Thea nodded.

"Yeah but I… I shouldn't have. Not to you." Vincent shook his head.

"What difference am I? I was just a dollar sign to you. You got what you needed, I got what I needed." Thea shrugged, "And that's that."

"Well I am sorry about it." Vincent assured her.

"Whatever." Thea just nodded, "I gotta go to work."

"Yeah… well tell your dad I said hi." He said as Thea just nodded, getting into the car and driving to the hospital.

She parked up and got out of the car, heading into the hospital and clocking in with her card.

"Morning, Thea." One of the nurses walked into the staff room.

"Hey." Thea smiled, taking her coat off and hanging it up.

"I think your cousin was admitted here last night. Chrissy?" She asked Thea who turned to her.

"Yeah?" Thea said in a questioning tone, "Why? Is she ok?" She wondered.

"Oh, well she's still here. She was admitted around 5am this morning. Broken eyebrow bone. She's not very talkative about it. Figured you could go talk to her." She said as Thea nodded slowly.

"Which room?" Thea asked.

"Downstairs. One fifty." The nurse told her.

"Ok. You can have that coffee. I've barely drank it." Thea pointed to her coffee, leaving the staff room and taking the elevator downstairs, heading to the room which her cousin was sitting in.

"Hey, it's only me." Thea smiled, walking into the room, closing the door over behind her as Chrissy looked up.

"Hey." Chrissy nodded to her, "Figured they'd send you down here." She said.

"That looks nasty." Thea walked over, looking at the stitches along her cousin's eyebrow, "What'd you do?" Thea asked casually.

"I just… tripped." Chrissy nodded to her as Thea nodded slowly.

"Have you called Brandon?" Thea asked, referring to Chrissy's husband.

"No. No, he's at work." Chrissy nodded to her as Thea sat down on the chair beside the bed.

"What's up, Chris?" Thea asked, noticing her cousin was acting strange, "Why'd you not tell the nurses what happened to you?"

"I did. I said I fell." Chrissy shrugged, "I didn't think it even needed stitches." She rolled her eyes.

"You had to have fallen pretty awkwardly to break your eyebrow bone." Thea nodded, "You drunk or something?" She said light heartedly.

"No." Chrissy smiled along, "No, just clumsy I guess." Chrissy nodded as Thea looked across at her, "So am I free to go?"

"Yeah." Thea nodded, "You want me to call your mom or dad?"

"No." Chrissy said immediately, "No, it's fine. I've got my car anyway." She said as Thea nodded, noticing some bruises on Chrissy's inner arms, until Chrissy pulled her sleeves down immediately.

"What about Sarah? Why don't you call her?" Thea nodded.

"She's working. I'm fine." Chrissy nodded, getting up from the bed.

"Ok, well… I'll walk you out." Thea nodded to her, leaving the hospital room with her, a lot going through her mind to say the least.
