February 8
The past few days have been extremely unsettling.
My dreams have been filled with more of these visions of Inuyasha, similar to what happened at the shrine but they're all different.
I had one dream where Inuyasha and Miroku looked to be traveling through some kind of cavern. They looked tired and worse for wear as they ran. They looked like they were in a panic.
"This way!" Inuyasha said, turning around a corner.
"Something's coming," Miroku said.
They two turned around and a horde of what looked like one hundred demons was coming towards them.
Inuyasha jumped in front of Miroku with his sword in his hands.
"Wind scar!" The bright light of the wind scar was unleashed and the demons were destroyed.
In another one, the two were in a different place that I still didn't recognize fighting what seemed like an endless stream of demons that were coming at them. There was an evil laugh coming for an enemy that I couldn't see. Some kind of blood-red beam of light was shot at them and Inuyasha used the backlash wave shouting "You fucking bastard!"
But then the backlash wave seemed to be reversed and Inuyasha and Miroku's eyes widened in shock as it went straight towards them.
That one woke me up with a jolt in a cold sweat. I'd seen just what the backlash wave could do many times and I knew how destructive it was. A part of me wanted the vision to come back and continue so I could be sure that Inuyasha and Miroku got away. Another part of me didn't want to know.
The dream I had this morning was equally terrifying.
Inuyasha was fighting alone, which made me worry and wonder where Miroku was. Again he was up against an unseen enemy. He was hit by a particularly terrible blast and thrown across the room. Whoever this opponent was had closed in on him and his sword was lifted for the fatal blow.
Until Inuyasha grabbed that sword's blade with his bare hand. He began to fight again but something was different about him. His eyes had turned red. He was fighting with just his sharpened claws growling and snarling at the villain who taunted him with amusement. Inuyasha hit him hard and knocked him back against a wall. Just as I thought he was winning, the opponent came back at him and Inuyasha was thrown back and screamed.
I woke up again shaking and afraid. I had no idea what was going on or why I was having these visions. I lay on my side looking at the empty space where he usually slept next to me and desperately wished he was there.
Later today I went to Sango's house. I couldn't stand to be alone with my thoughts anymore. I also wanted to get Sango's opinion on what I'd been experiencing.
We spent some time taking care of the children and getting them settled down for lunch. After that, they were content with playing with Nico and Sango and I finally had time to talk.
"Are you okay, Kagome? You've seemed a little uneasy all day."
"I've been having these terrible dreams, Sango," I replied.
"What kind of dreams?"
"Dreams about Inuyasha and Miroku. In my dreams, they're trying to get away from some kind of enemy. Things just keep getting worse and worse every time. In one of them, they were hit by Inuyasha's backlash wave. In another one, Inuyasha had turned into a full demon while he was fighting."
Sango was very surprised. "That's terrible. Where is all of this coming from?"
"I don't know. It started at the shrine a few days ago and there was a demon who came in during the ritual so I thought it was because of that. But I've had them so many times since then and sometimes the same ones repeat over and over. It makes me wonder if these are really dreams or if they're real."
"I don't know, Kagome. Could it be because you miss Inuyasha so much and you're worried about him?"
I had considered that many times and I kept trying to tell myself that was what was going on. "That's probably it. These dreams are just so unsettling, it's hard to get past them.
"Inuyasha and Miroku are supposed to be home either tonight or tomorrow morning. I'm sure they'll be home safely and everything will be okay."
"You're probably right, Sango. I'm letting all of this stuff get to me. I'll be so relieved when they're home so I won't have to worry."
This evening, I still couldn't get those visions out of my mind so I decided to go out onto the front porch to get some air.
The sun was now setting and Inuyasha still wasn't home. As much as I told myself that what I was seeing were just dreams and that Inuyasha and Miroku were safely on their way home, I couldn't get past this gut feeling that something was wrong.
I felt something pinching my cheek. I put my hand to it and then Myoga appeared. "Myoga, what are you doing here?"
"I was just passing through and wanted to stop by. Where's your husband?"
"He and Miroku left a few days ago for a demon extermination," I replied. "They're supposed to be home in the morning."
"Ah, I see. How are you holding up here by yourself?"
"Well...not very well," I admitted. Then I started to wonder if Myoga would know anything about these dreams and figured it wouldn't hurt to find out. "Myoga, I've been having these dreams lately.
"Oh yeah? About what?"
"They're awful dreams about Inuyasha and Miroku. They're fighting some kind of demon and they seem to be trapped somewhere. This has been going on for days. They're so vivid it makes me wonder if they're really dreams. Would it be possible that I'm having visions about something that's really happening?"
"Hmm, that is very unusual," Myoga said thoughtfully. "There is also the possibility that you're too late and Inuyasha and Miroku are already dead."
I gasped. "What?! Myoga are you serious?!"
"Oh yes, that is certainly one possibility. Why else would you be having visions...ah!"
I picked him up between my fingers the way Inuyasha does and looked at him through eyes that were already filling with tears. "You can't be serious! Inuyasha can't be dead!"
"Well...if you let me down...I can tell you what I really think…"
I put him down on the porch railing and waited impatiently for him to speak.
"Although it is possible, I don't think Inuyasha is necessarily dead. It could be possible that as a priestess you're picking up on his demonic aura and it's showing you what's happening. Another possibility is that someone or something is planting visions in your head to disturb you or lure you into a trap."
"I see…"
"But knowing Master Inuyasha, whatever opponent he is up against will be no match for him and he will be home when expected."
"Right, exactly," I said, trying to assure myself again.
I figure I need to try to get a good night's sleep to try to clear my mind. Inuyasha will be home tomorrow and everything will be back to normal.
