February 19
After something crazy like an old enemy from the past returning and kidnapping my husband and threatening to murder me and all of my friends happens, it's kind of hard to settle down and rest.
I was honestly kind of jumpy all day yesterday thinking that every noise was something trying to break in and take him away again. I could tell Inuyasha was a little restless too. Normally when we're at home he leaves his sword in this neat little stand he bought at the market a few months ago. Yesterday, he had it in his belt for most of the day.
We've both calmed down a little bit today. Although I think the image of Inuyasha chained up and unconscious will haunt me forever.
This afternoon I was putting together some healing herbs to take to Miroku. He had been so badly injured by Byakuya and I wanted to make sure his recovery went smoothly.
After I finished putting together a bundle of herbs for him I looked up from where I was sitting at the table at Inuyasha sitting on the couch reading the book about weapons that he'd gotten for his birthday with Nico sitting on his head.
I started laughing. "Having fun over there?"
"This seems to be his new spot," Inuyasha replied.
"Well, your hair is really soft. I'm ready to go, are you still coming?"
"Of course." Inuyasha pulled Nico off his head and our cat whined. "Sorry buddy, you can't live in my hair. We'll be back in a little while."
We left the house and walked hand in hand as we always did to Miroku and Sango's house. When we got there the girls were running around and Shinichi was curled up on Sango's shoulder falling asleep.
"Hey you guys," she said. Then she turned to her twins. "Girls, didn't I tell you to sit down so your brother can go to sleep?!"
"Come to daddy, girls," Miroku said from where he was sitting on the couch. The girls ran over and jumped into his arms a little too hard and he grunted in pain.
"Bad timing?" Inuyasha asked.
Sango sighed. "They've been very restless all day. I'm going to go put Shinichi down, I'll be right back."
She went off to the children's room and I sat next to Miroku. "How are you feeling?"
"I've been a lot worse," Miroku replied.
"Like the poisoned wind tunnel?" Inuyasha said. "We were all surprised you pulled out of that one."
Miroku chuckled. "Oh come on, you all knew I'd survive."
"I've brought you some healing herbs," I said. "These should help you get better faster. It's usually best to make them into a tea."
"You're the best, Kagome. I really appreciate this," Miroku said.
"Just hurry up and get better," Inuyasha said. "There's no telling what Sango will say if you die."
"Inuyasha…!" I scolded.
"I was one hundred percent sure you were dead before they came and saved you," he continued. "You just have way too many death scares, Miroku…"
All of a sudden Sango came up behind him and smacked him in the head. "Shut up, Inuyasha."
"You women are so disrespectful," Inuyasha grumbled.
We stayed for just a little while longer and then we headed back home. On the way there Myoga appeared, this time sucking Inuyasha's blood until my husband smacked him.
"What's up, Myoga?" Inuyasha said.
"Your blood is delicious, Master Inuyasha," Myoga said. "I'm also glad to see you're alive. Kagome told me about the visions she was having. I was sure you were dead."
"And where were you when all of that was happening? I could have used your help."
"Hmm? Oh, well...you know…"
"Hiding from danger as usual," I said.
"After what Lady Kagome told me about her visions, I was sure that you were dead."
"Keh! As if I would let myself die that easily!" Inuyasha replied.
By this point, we had reached the house so I opened the door and we all went inside.
"And then you told me he was dead and made me even more worried," I said as we sat down on the couch.
Inuyasha glared at the flea who was now sitting on his knee. "Damn it Myoga! Why did you tell her that?!"
"I said you were probably dead though," Myoga said with a shrug. "Although Master Inuyasha, I think you're going to die soon anyway."
"What makes you think that?" Inuyasha said, rolling his eyes.
"Because you're so much like your father and he was young when he died. Think about it: you wield a powerful sword, you've fought very formidable foes, you married a human woman. Yup, it's only a matter of time before you die."
"You don't really think that's going to happen, do you Myoga?" I asked, now feeling slightly worried.
Inuyasha put his arm around my shoulders. "I'm not going to die. Don't listen to Myoga, baby. He's full of shit after all."
"You know, you're not like your father in one way. He was way more respectful of his elders than you are."
"Good, I don't want to be like my old man anyway," Inuyasha replied.
Myoga sighed. "One day you'll have some respect for your father."
All of a sudden Nico jumped into Inuyasha's lap and started eyeing Myoga. Myoga was clearly starting to get nervous.
"Heh, nice kitty…"
Nico then put his paw onto his and crushed him. Inuyasha started laughing but I picked up Nico and pulled him into my lap instead.
"Nico, be nice," I said to him. "Sorry, Myoga."
Inuyasha was still laughing at the way Nico was still staring at Myoga hungrily. "Nico's got the right idea."
"Just keep that cat far away from me," Myoga said, still looking at Nico wearily. "Even though he's a feline, he clearly takes after Inuyasha."
Nico tried to jump out of my arms to pounce on him and I held him tighter. Meanwhile, Myoga jumped back in fear.
"Nico, stop it!" I said.
"I'm not going to stick around until your cat eats me. I'll see you two around. Although I think Inuyasha will be dead next time I come by."
"Myoga…!" Inuyasha exclaimed.
"See you later!" Myoga hopped off and jumped out the window.
I looked down at Nico. "You're a bad boy, Nico."
Inuyasha rubbed his head. "I think he did great."
"You're bad too, Inuyasha."
