February 25

We've got a lot of snow over the last couple of days. The night we gave Nico the catnip it snowed lightly for a couple of hours and then this morning we woke up to at least a foot of snow on the ground.

Inuyasha and I have spent this snow day indoors. After rolling around in bed all morning, the rest of the day consisted of relaxing and cuddling in the house.

This afternoon he was making us some tea and I sat at the table with Nico on my lap. As I rubbed his back, it made me think of something. "Honey, did I ever tell you about The Lion King?"

"No, what's that?"

"It's a movie in my era about lions."

"How did they get lions to be in a movie?"

I giggled. "It's an animated movie."

"What's it about?" Ever since we went to the movie theater last year, Inuyasha has been endlessly fascinated by my stories of different movies in my era.

"So the lions are the rulers of Pride Rock and the great Mufasa has just had a son named Simba," I said dramatically. "But his jealous brother Scar hates him and thinks he should be the king instead."

Inuyasha snickered. "Remind you of anyone?"

"Hmm?" Then I realized he was talking about him and Sesshomaru. I laughed a bit. "Oh yeah!"

"I'd totally be Mufasa. But go on."

"So Scar comes up with a plan where he leaves Simba alone in a gorge as a trap and starts a stampede. Mufasa goes down to save him but then Scar throws Mufasa off a cliff into the stampede and he dies."

"Damn."

"Then Scar tells Simba that it's his fault that his father was killed and tells him to run away and never return."

"That's horrible."

"Simba runs away and meets new friends and lives with them for years to try to forget his past. Them his old friend Nala comes to find him and they have sex."

Inuyasha raised his eyebrows. "What kind of movie is this?"

I laughed again. "Okay, so they don't actually have sex but it's heavily implied. Nala tells Simba to come home because Scar has taken over Pride Rock and is ruining everything and all the animals are dying. But Simba feels bad about what Scar told him so he doesn't want to come back until he sees his father in the clouds and he tells him 'Remember who you are.'"

"Um, okay…"

"Simba goes back to fight Scar. And Scar tells him that he was actually the one who killed Mufasa. So they fight and Simba pushes Scar off a cliff and he gets eaten by hyenas."

"This is a really intense movie."

"But then it's all good and Simba and Nala have a baby. And after that, they hold the baby over Pride Rock to show all the other animals like this." I demonstrated by standing on a chair and picking up Nico as they did in the movie.

Inuyasha started laughing. "You told me all that just so you could traumatize Nico?"

Sure enough, Nico was fidgeting as he tried desperately to get out of my hands. "Well, I needed to give you some context."

I got off the chair and when I put Nico down, he immediately ran off. Inuyasha handed me my tea and kissed me. "You're weird, Kagome."

I kissed him back. "You love me though."

We sat on the couch under a blanket with our tea. Nico soon recovered from the trauma and came over to join us.

Sometime after, there was a knock on the door. When we answered it, we were surprised to find that it was Takero.

"Takero, what are you doing out in weather like this?" Inuyasha asked.

"I hate to bother you two, but we really need your help," Takero said. "Some of the villagers have spotted a snow demon around here over the past couple of days."

"A snow demon?" I said.

"Yes, it's been lurking around the village lately. I saw it in my yard last night and it nearly gave me a heart attack. Hanama told me it almost ate her son."

"Where is this snow demon?" Inuyasha asked.

"Last I heard of it, it went in the direction of the old bone eaters well."

"We'll take care of it, Takero," I said with determination.

"Thank you so much! I knew I could count on you two."

Takero left and Inuyasha and I geared up to go find the snow demon.

"What do you think this snow demon wants?" I asked as I put on my coat.

"What any demon wants, to find some humans to eat for dinner," Inuyasha said, wrapping his knitted scarf around his neck. He stuck his sword in his belt. "Are you sure you want to come with me?"

"And miss all the fun of fighting a giant beast in the freezing snow? Not a chance," I said with a smirk. I grabbed my bow and arrows. Then I kissed him and headed for the door. "Let's go, love."

We went outside and I was immediately struck by how cold it was but I continued on and told myself that I probably won't freeze to death out here.

Inuyasha and I trekked through the snow towards the well on the lookout for anything that resembled a snow demon.

"Do you know what a snow demon looks like?"

"Oh sure, I was almost eaten by one when I was 10."

I gasped. "Really?"

"They're big and furry and have huge claws and teeth."

"Like that?" I exclaimed pointing at the demon that was bounding towards us. The thing looked like a giant, white leopard with extra-sharp fangs and claws. It also had snowflakes and frost circling around it.

"Just like that," Inuyasha said as he pulled out his sword. "Alright you, stop terrorizing our village!"

He slashed at it with his sword. The demon yelled and staggered backward as its blood dripped onto the white snow but it wasn't down yet. It charged at me this time but I was also ready. I shot an arrow at it but the demon jumped high into the air over it and as it came down it was coming straight for me.

All of a sudden, Inuyasha grabbed me and jumped out of the way just in time. He placed a quick kiss on my lips then turned to the demon who was now about 100 feet away now and poised to attack.

"You've messed with the wrong person!" Inuyasha said. The demon charged again. Inuyasha glanced back at me. "Wind scar or adamant barrage, honey?"

"Adamant barrage!"

A smirk crossed his face. "Good choice." He jumped into the air and swung his sword. The adamant barrage shot from it taking down the demon entirely. When Inuyasha landed on the ground, he sheathed the sword then turned to me. "How was that?" he said proudly.

I giggled a bit. "That was perfect." I went over and jumped into his arms. He twirled me around and then kissed me.

"Ready to go home?"

"Yes, I'm so cold."

"Sounds like someone needs a hot bath."

"Only if you'll take one with me," I said, remembering what happened when we took a bath together on his human night.

"Gladly." He kissed me once again, then I climbed onto his back and we headed home.

When we got in the house, we were in for an interesting sight.

"Nico!" I exclaimed.

Nico had jumped onto the shelf and got into the catnip while we were gone. He had knocked it all over the floor and was now rolling in it high as a kite.

"I hope he's having a good trip," Inuyasha said as we went over to clean up the mess.
