February 26
Today we actually went outside to play in the snow and things got interesting.
Miroku and Sango took the kids out to play in the snow and we joined them alone with Shippo. Our next snow family was coming along well. Every now and then Shippo would entertain the kids by using his fox magic to make the snow swirl around in little whirlwinds.
"So Miroku, you broke our cat," Inuyasha said to him as he put the center ball onto our snowman.
"What do you mean I broke your cat?" Miroku said from where he was on the ground next to him helping the girls make another snowball for the head.
"Nico got into the catnip last night," I said. "When we got home he had knocked it all over the floor and was rolling around in it."
Miroku and Sango started laughing.
"He only just started to calm down this morning," Inuyasha said.
"No more catnip for him I guess?" Sango said.
"No way. Any more and he'll have permanent brain damage," I replied.
Shippo jumped down the top of the other snowman he had just put a hat on. "You know, I wonder if there's an equivalent to catnip for dogs," he said as he side-eyed Inuyasha.
"Shippo, you have two seconds to take that back before I kick you into next week!" Inuyasha exclaimed.
"There is actually," I said to Shippo.
Now Inuyasha looked at me. "What are you talking about?"
"It's ramen," I said with a smile. "Just give him ramen and he's perfectly content."
Inuyasha became thoughtful for a moment. "I do like ramen...hey Kagome, can we have some ramen when we get home?"
"Of course," I replied before kissing him.
"I'm amazed that you still have any left," Sango said. She picked up Shinichi as he toddled over to her. "How much did you even bring back?"
"A lot," I replied. "There isn't much left now though."
"Don't remind me," Inuyasha said with a disappointed sigh.
All of a sudden we heard screams coming from the village.
"What's that?" Shippo said fearfully.
"Smells like some kind of demon," Inuyasha said, putting his hand to his sword as he looked around for the demon.
There was a roar and the sound of huge footsteps which seemed to be getting closer. The villagers were still screaming. "It's a snow demon!" someone said.
"A snow demon?" I said.
"We just fought one of those damn things yesterday," Inuyasha said in frustration.
I turned to Miroku and Sango. "Take the kids inside, we'll handle this," I said since Inuyasha and I already had our weapons.
"But our snow family!" Midori cried.
I bent down and hugged her. "Uncle Inuyasha and I will protect them." She seemed to be comforted by that.
Miroku and Sango grabbed the kids and went inside with Shippo just as the snow demon showed itself. This one was gigantic, about three times the size of the one from yesterday. Like the one from last night it had snow circling it but this one had so much that it looked like it was surrounded by a small blizzard.
"You stupid snow demons don't know when to quit!" Inuyasha said as he pulled out his sword. He sent another adamant barrage at it but the demon blew ice and snow at it and froze the adamants. "What the hell?!"
"Let me try it," I said as I pulled back an arrow. I let it fly but it didn't go as planned either. The demon stopped it and smashed it into the snow with his paw.
The demon shot more ice at us. Inuyasha grabbed me and jumped out of the way. The demon charged at us and Inuyasha went for it with his sword. However, the demon's fur seemed to be frozen solid so that when the tetsusaiga hit it, it just bounced right off. After being hit with the sword a few times to no avail, it smacked Inuyasha with his paw and threw him past me into the snow.
I ran over to him and bent down next to him. "Honey, are you okay?"
Inuyasha nodded as he shook the snow out of his hair. "What the hell is with this thing?" Then he seemed to get an idea. "Get on my back. We're gonna try something."
I did what he said and he started to run towards the demon. "Inuyasha, what are we doing?"
"When it attacks again, I'll use the backlash wave. Shoot your arrow into it."
"Got it!"
The demon swiped its huge paw at us again. Inuyasha dodged it and I gasped, gripping onto him tightly. I can't imagine what would have happened if those sharp claws had hit us.
"You okay baby?" he said.
"I'm fine."
"Get ready."
Sure enough, the demon shot more ice at us. Inuyasha used the backlash wave and I shot my arrow. The demon couldn't dodge this attack and was soon gone.
Once it was over I got off Inuyasha's back then took his face in my hands and kissed him triumphantly.
Our friends left the house and came over to us.
"That was super awesome!" Shippo exclaimed.
"You saw all of that?" I asked.
"We were all at the window watching," Miroku said. "You two are quite a team."
Inuyasha and I exchanged another loving kiss. We're a team in every way and I wouldn't change that for the world.
Inuyasha and Kagome really are an awesome demon-fighting team.
