Start of the green-lit party
Sakura took an Agatae to the party to arrive in style. It was being held on one of the very highest layer of Malfeas so she needed to fly for quite a while. What was stranger to her was how the green sun of the underworld changed as she grew closer.
Instead of growing hotter and harsher, the light seemed to soften as she approached. The temperature didn't change but it didn't oppressive any more. She knew that the green sun was one of the most powerful demons she hadn't quite realised that meant the sun could shift how it's light would be taken. Ligier was apparently quite vain so it made sense but it still felt strange to her. Just another wonder of the city of demons.
When she arrived it was fairly easy to tell where the party was being held due to the fact that the entire layer seemed to be decorated in demonic style. They must have put a lot of effort to buy out the entire layer for this party.
She landed on the outer edges of the layer and ordered the Agatae to await her return.
"Your highness, how long do you expect to be?" the giant wasp asked.
She gave the demon a look and invoked the authority her charms gave her "I will stay here as long as I desire and you will wait for that no matter how long it takes."
The Agatae wilted "Yes your highness. As you command."
She began walking towards the "center" of the layer. Before she got too far however there was the sound of something heavy hitting the ground behind her. Sakura spun to look and saw a demon with a more human form but covered in ugly twisting muscles and veins just under the skin. In the demons hands was an artifact, a giant sword whose length was at least ten meters. The demon dragged it behind him in a way that made Sakura think that while he could wield it in combat it weighed him down quite a lot.
"Present your invitation or die screaming." The demon spoke with absolutely no emotion in it's voice. Sakura quickly pulled the invitation from her pocket and showed it to the demon who read it without showing any expression. They then looked up at Sakura as if trying to determine if she was in fact an Infernal Exalted. After a moment it nodded "Go in peace, your highness." before fading away into the air.
Sakura continued on and started to see more people and demons about. There were far more demons than people but that was to be expected. Supposedly only 50 Infernal Exalted existed at all but Sakura saw many more than that. Likely Akuma servants or demons with a very human form. She could also hear very good music playing from somewhere in the center of the party but there were buildings between it and her so she couldn't see who was playing.
When you were in the demon city there was near constant music. Sakura knew it was to drive away one of the Yozi that liked silence. Regardless most of the time the music wasn't very good unless there were musical demons in abundance. This however was very good music. Demonic jazz maybe?
And then a cannon went off somewhere closer to the center of the party. After a moment it did again and Sakura realised it was being used as an instrument.
Regardless Sakura stayed to the sides of streets as she walked towards the center of the party. She didn't want to be caught in a coversation without knowing the area of the party better. Any conversation partner at this party could likely hit her with social charms. While it was entirely possible she could resist it would bring her closer to Kimbery sending her another torment.
The decorations of the party were a little mad but that was to be expected in Malfeas. There was bunting made of the various elements of the Yozi (Burning green fire from Malfeas, shadows from the Ebon Dragon, frozen acid from Kimbery, a type of glass from she who lived in her name, etc) while around the streets were tables of food. Luckily for Sakura some of the food actually looked tasty.
The food included a lot of shellfish and poultry from the few creatures that existed in Malfeas that were not demons (At least not by creations definitions) and quite a few cuts of red meat that Sakura realised were probably from demons. On the plant side there were a lot of grain products in golden bowls. Sakura had eaten tree-grain before but she didn't like it that much even though it reminded her of rice, it had a taste like bone that made her sick after eating it. There was also platters of bloodmelons but Sakura hated those even more due to the fact there insides were raw flesh.
There was luckily food from creation too, many types and coming from all directions of creation.
She realised after a moment that she was quite hungry so she took a plate from a table and took some sliced multigrain bread along with some fish and a sauce that was served with the fish. She sat down to eat while looking around the party for people looking her way. It seemed no-one was looking right now but that may change.
Sakura finished her plate quickly and (after seeing what everyone else was doing with their plates) dropped it to the ground. She hated making a mess but didn't want to attract attention to herself by doing differently.
It was in vain however as after only a few moments she heard a voice greet her politely "Good day your highness." Sakura almost jumped when she turned around to see what appeared to be a bald young man holding a box. The man spoke with no expression though his voice held mirth "I am Sigereth, the player of games. May I ask your name?"
End of chapter.
This arc is going to be in multiple parts unlike most of Sakura's mini arcs. Also I wanted to touch on the food of the demon city and this felt like a good time.
