These next few chapters are some of my favorites in the whole story. I hope you like them too.
April 3
Inuyasha and I were in our backyard this afternoon. We were pulling up our latest crop of fruits and vegetables and planting new ones. Meanwhile, Nico was running around trying to catch birds.
The past couple of days have been a little hectic. We went to the market where some losers had some stuff to say about a priestess being married to a half-demon. It took a lot of convincing to get Inuyasha to not chop their heads off. Then there were some demons in the village yesterday which we quickly disposed of. All the while, I've been a little bit nauseous in the mornings. It must be something I ate.
I glanced over at Nico who was now trying to catch a butterfly. "I hope he doesn't actually hurt anything."
"He does it all the time," Inuyasha replied.
"Really?"
"The other day when you were out getting herbs he brought a dead bird into the house."
"Oh my god! Gross!"
Inuyasha laughed. "I was glad you weren't there for that one. I think you would have passed out. He looked so damn proud of himself for it too."
"I once read that cats do that as some kind of gesture of generosity because they think we need food."
"They probably do. He's a predator after all. I'm sure he's killed way more things than we know about."
I noticed Inuyasha's ear twitch as it does when he hears something and I looked at him curiously.
"Sesshomaru is coming."
Sure enough, Sesshomaru landed on the ground a few feet behind us. Jaken was also with him.
"Hi Sesshomaru, hi Jaken." I glanced at Inuyasha and he didn't say anything so I elbowed him. "Say hi to your brother."
Inuyasha sighed. "Hi, Sesshomaru."
Sesshomaru just sneered at him.
"Asshole," Inuyasha said, rolling his eyes.
Jaken scoffed. "You should really learn to have some respect for Lord Sesshomaru you know!"
"What brings you here?" I asked.
"Have either of you seen Rin?"
"We haven't," I replied. "She's not at Kaede's house?"
"No, Kaede said she went out and she hasn't been back yet."
"Did you try Miroku and Sango's house?" I asked.
"I have. She wasn't there either."
"She couldn't have gotten far," Inuyasha said. "She's probably just off playing with some of the other kids in the village."
"Lord Sesshomaru has been extremely distressed," Jaken said. "I swear, that girl gives him more trouble than she's worth…ah!"
Sesshomaru kicked him in the head to shut him up. I had to hold back a giggle. Especially when Nico started eyeing Jaken like he was his next prey.
"Nice kitty," Jaken said nervously. Nico tried to pounce on him and Jaken ran away. "Stay away from me!" Nico continued to chase him around the yard.
"Rin must be around here somewhere," I said encouragingly.
Sesshomaru may have been annoyed by it but Jaken was right, he did look very distressed as much as he tried to hide it. "I have reasons to believe that Rin may have been kidnapped."
Now Inuyasha and I were concerned too. "By who?" Inuyasha asked.
"I'm not sure," Sesshomaru replied. "I have many enemies who could have taken her hostage."
"If that's true, do you want us to help you find her?" I asked.
"I don't need your help," Sesshomaru snapped. "I can find Rin on my own. Jaken, stop playing around. Let's go."
"Yes, my lord," Jaken said, running back across the yard to his master. He turned to us. "Your cat is evil!"
Then the two of them took off.
"Keh, figures he doesn't want any help finding her," Inuyasha said as we turned our attention back to our garden. "She'd end up held hostage by some demons that want to eat her and he wouldn't be able to find her because he's too stubborn to ask for help."
"Inuyasha, you don't think that would really happen, do you?"
The news about Rin was really distressing. I was worried something bad really had happened to her.
"Nah, she's probably off somewhere picking flowers. He'll find her soon."
I hope he's right. I just want Rin to be found safe wherever she is.
