April 25
The pregnancy symptoms have really been affecting me lately. The morning sickness is still really bad and I've been sleeping a lot during the day. I've been so out of it that I haven't even had the energy to write.
I did laundry and some other chores today with Nico dutifully following me around as he usually did. He's such a cutie. This afternoon I took the clothes off the line when they were dry. As I sat inside folding them I started to get sleepy again.
"I'm only going to close my eyes for a few minutes," I told myself.
So I laid down on the couch but what was supposed to be a few minutes turned out to be hours. When I woke up, I couldn't believe I had slept so long that the sun was starting to set. I still had to finish folding the laundry and surely Inuyasha would want dinner soon.
Speaking of Inuyasha, when I opened my eyes I found him sitting on the floor in front of me folding the laundry.
"Hey, you're finally awake," he said cheerfully. "How did you sleep?"
"I slept well...I didn't mean to sleep so long."
"It's alright. I came home and found this halfway done so I thought I'd finish it up for you."
"Thank you. I meant to make dinner too. I can go take care of that…"
"Dinner's already been started," he said.
"Really?"
"I knew you'd be hungry when you woke up," he said with a shrug as he finished folding the last sheet.
I sat up and tears filled my eyes. The next thing I knew, I was full-on sobbing and Inuyasha looked alarmed.
"Kagome, what's wrong?" He sat on the couch next to me and put his arms around me. "Don't cry, honey. I didn't mean to…"
"You didn't do anything wrong, love," I said. I felt stupid for it and I tried to get myself to stop crying but I couldn't. "I-I'm just so grateful, Inuyasha. Th-Thank you...thank you for taking care of me."
He kissed the top of my head and let me cry into his shoulder. "You're welcome, sweetheart. That's what I'm here for. Things are hard for you right now and I want to help."
"You're such a good husband." Finally, I was starting to be able to pull myself together. I sat up and wiped the tears from my face. "I'm sorry, I know that was a stupid reason to start crying."
"Well one thing's for sure, Miroku wasn't joking about those mood swings," he said with a slight laugh. Then he kissed me. "You stay here and rest. I'll finish up dinner." He turned to Nico who was sitting on the floor watching us. "Nico, keep mommy company and make sure she doesn't cry again."
