April 26

I was able to go to the shrine today and later give some care to a couple of children in the village. That seems to be the limit on the amount of energy I can exert these days. By mid-afternoon, I was completely drained and ended up taking another nap.

But after dinner, Inuyasha and I went for a short walk, and then we ended up sitting in a tree watching the sunset. With his arms around me and I leaning back into his chest, it was such a relaxing way to spend the evening. We also spent much of that time talking about the baby, which was our main topic of conversation these days.

"Who do you think the baby will look more like?" I asked.

"I hope it looks more like you."

"Really?"

"Of course. This baby has a beautiful mom, it should look more like you."

"I think it will look more like you. At the very least it should have your eyes...and your ears."

He laughed. "I know you would just love that."

"Do you want a boy or a girl?" I asked next.

"Doesn't matter," he replied. "Whether it's a boy or a girl, I'll teach them everything they need to know about life and I'll make sure they have a really cool sword to fight with."

I giggled a bit. "They're going to have an amazing teacher."

"What about you?"

"It doesn't matter to me either as long as we have a healthy baby. All I know is that it will be immensely loved."

Inuyasha was silent for a moment. "Do you think I'll be a good father?" he said after a few minutes.

"Of course," I said, surprised he would say that. I turned a bit to face him. "Don't you think so?"

"It's not like I've ever had anyone to show me." He placed his hand on my stomach. "I already love this baby so much and I want to be the best father I can. But I never had my father in my life, I have no idea what I'm really supposed to do. I want to give our baby everything I never had but I don't know if I would be any good at it."

"Inuyasha," I said as I gave him a comforting hug. There was so much worry in his eyes. "I have no doubt in my mind that you'll be an amazing father."

"How can you be so sure?"

"Because of everything you said. You love our baby and want to give it the world. Sure, you never had your father around to show you, but that's okay. You're already an incredible husband; you're so sweet and protective and you always take care of me. I know you'll be the same way to our baby."

A smile touched his face after that. "Thank you, Kagome." He kissed me, slow and passionate, and afterward, I returned his smile.

"I love you, Yasha. Never worry about a thing, and never forget how amazing you are."
