June 22
There's something about mornings where Inuyasha and I are cuddling in bed with the sun streaming through the window that's just really peaceful. This morning was certainly no exception.
As we lay there under the blanket in our pajamas, Inuyasha circled his hand on my stomach.
"You're starting to get a bit of a bump, Kagome," he said excitedly.
"I know, isn't it great?" The baby bump was small now but when I noticed it a few days ago I got super excited. My pregnancy had seemed a little abstract before as the only symptoms were being so sick all the time. But now that the baby was visibly starting to grow, it seemed a little bit more real.
He shifted so that his face was by my stomach then he pressed his ear to it. "Hey, I can hear the baby's heartbeat!"
"Really?!" I shouldn't have been too surprised with Inuyasha's amazing hearing.
Then he kissed my stomach. "I can't wait to see you, little one. I love you so much."
My eyes stung with tears at how sweet Inuyasha was. Once again, there was no doubt in my mind that he would be an amazing father. "Yasha…"
He moved back up to kiss me. "I love you too, sweetheart."
I definitely have the sweetest husband in the entire world.
We've definitely continued to enjoy our vacation. Sango was right about my symptoms getting easier by the second trimester. I've been so energetic since we've been here. For the first time in weeks, I haven't felt the burning desire to take a nap at some point in the day. My morning sickness has been reduced to nothing more than a wave of occasional light nausea when I wake up. Instead of feeling awful all the time, I feel ecstatic that the baby is visibly growing. It's been such a refreshing change.
This afternoon was particularly fun. We went to the beach again and decided to build a sandcastle.
What started out as a simple castle quickly began to get a lot more elaborate. Yasha and I were taking this very seriously. I built tall towers for the castle and he dug a moat around it and added a bridge across it. We added a lookout tower and cannon stations because, as Yasha said, they have to be ready for an attack at any moment. Then we went around the beach and gathered various seashells to decorate it with.
We had intended to only spend a little while on the sandcastle and then spend the rest of the afternoon having sex. However, it ended up taking hours for us to build the sandcastle. We had gotten so into it that we completely forgot about sex. But afterward when we stood back and admired our works neither of us minded.
"This is a damn good castle," Inuyasha said when we were done.
"It's the best sandcastle I've ever made. I wish we had a camera so we could take a picture of it." There were so many times I wished I had a camera. Sacrifices have to be made I guess.
"We can't take a picture but we get the pride of knowing we made the most badass castle in history."
"That's a good way of looking at it," I said laughing.
Inuyasha put his arm around me and kissed me. "After all that work, I'm starving. Let's get dinner."
So we went back to the house to get dinner and decided to come back out later to watch the sunset. But when we were back out to the beach we were in for quite a depressing sight.
Our castle was being destroyed by the tide!
"No!" Inuyasha exclaimed. He ran over to it to try to salvage it but it was too late.
"Our beautiful castle!" I said sadly. I couldn't believe that after all of that hard work, the tide had come in and destroyed it.
"Stupid tide!" Inuyasha said, stomping on the water as if that would hurt it.
I sighed. "I guess we know now not to build a castle so close to the water."
"That was such a good sandcastle!" Inuyasha said as he came out of the water.
We flopped onto the beach and watched as the water swept the rest of our castle into oblivion.
"We still have the pride," I pointed out.
Inuyasha sighed. "Yeah, but only a little bit of it."
