(A/N: Ok, this is really kind of funny/creepy. Like 5 weeks ago, I had a reviewer write a review that pretty much predicted this chapter almost to a T. No, seriously, I already had the rough draft for this chapter completely written, and then I read this review that predicted pretty much everything that takes place in this chapter. Am I just that predictable, or the two of us think alike. In any case, good job with the predictions, Silver. Let's see just how alike our minds are with what I actually ended up turning out.)

Chapter 149: Deep Discussions

Surprisingly, the teens didn't run into any problems with any of the Demon Lords' agents. Days passed where they only ran into Digimon who either ignored them or praised them for destroying four of the Demon Lords.

It was a little over a week after they set out from Laylamon's castle that they came across what appeared to be a city. It was, perhaps, the largest Digimon society they had cone across, and was, in fact, very similar to that of a city in the real world.

"This is awesome," said Takato. "We've never seen a place like this here yet."

Takuya raised an eyebrow. "Um, Machine Tower? ElDradimon? Several of the villages we've been to?"

"Oh, come on," Takato told him. "They were nothing like this. Most of the places in the Digital World seem rather, uh, primitive, I guess you could say." Realizing that he may have said something offensive, he glanced at Shoutmon. "Um, no offense."

The dragon Digimon shrugged. "None taken. From what you told me about your world, mine does seem more primitive. But we have different lifestyles, so it makes sense that our societies would be different."

TK looked at a Trailmon track that ran through the city. "Think we can get a Trailmon to take us to this fortress we're trying to get to?"

Shoutmon shook his head. "That fortress is so old and has been abandoned since the Second Catastrophe. No Trailmon tracks go there."

"How about a Blimpmon?" Kari asked, pointing at the machine Digimon in the sky.

The dragon Digimon gave her a strange look. "Are you kidding? Do you think any Digimon will go anywhere near a place where a Demon Lord might be?"

"Hey, don't yell at her!" Davis snapped irritably. "She was just asking a question."

Shoutmon looked surprised, then angry. "I wasn't yelling at her. Why are you yelling at me?"

"I'm not yelling! Let's just go."

He angrily stormed off, leaving his flabbergasted friends behind. This had actually become somewhat normal for Davis over the past few days. Ever since he had come back to their side, he seemed grumpy most of the time, and would often have angry outbursts.

At first they had been worried that there might still be traces of the Dark Spore inside him, but Shoutmon had assured them that that was not the case. And as the days went by, it became apparent that he was right.

When it came down to it, it seemed that Davis was just plain mad. And they supposed it made sense. He was still angry with himself for what had happened to him and what he had done. And, truthfully, who wouldn't be? While the others made it clear that they had forgiven him, despite there being nothing to forgive since he had been a victim, Davis very obviously hadn't forgiven himself.

They hoped he would soon, or would at least talk to them about it so they could help him work through it. They didn't want to bring up the matter themselves since they knew it was a sensitive subject though.

"Anyway," said Tai, trying to change the subject, "where should we stay tonight? It's a city, so we probably have a lot of options."

No longer looking angry, Shoutmon broke out into a grin. "Probably anywhere we want, free of charge. You guys are celebrities. And you've got the Digimon King with you."

Takato chuckled. "What happened to the whole 'I won't really be king until I defeat the ones who overthrew me' speech you gave Azulongmon?"

The dragon Digimon just waved this off. "Ah, details."

It turned out he was right. Once in the city, the teens were treated more or less the same as celebrities walking down the red carpet would be in the real world. There were fans and admirers that lined the streets as countless Digimon gathered around to show their gratitude and admiration to them for defeating half of the Demon Lords.

"This is really embarrassing," Takuya muttered quietly as he walked along with an overly large forced grin on his face as he waved at the crowd.

"Just smile and wave," Tai told him, wearing a similar grin. "Smile and wave."

"How much longer do we have to smile like this?" Kari asked in a whisper, also forcefully grinning. "My cheeks hurt."

"So do mine," TK grumbled. "I guess I never realized how tough celebrities actually had it, and it's only been a couple hours since we entered the city."

But it wasn't just fans that gathered. They were also swamped by what seemed to be the Digital World's equivalent of gossipers and reporters, and they brought an onslaught of questions that they threw at the teens.

"How did you come to the Digital World?"

"Is it true that you possess the power of the Guardians?"

"How did you manage to defeat four Demon Lords?"

Most of the questions were pretty standard and what the teens had come to expect. Some questions were even asked repeatedly and in different ways. But then came the one question that completely killed the mood.

"Is it true that a member of your party betrayed you and joined the Demon Lords?"

In a different scenario, the situation might have been funny. The loud crowd almost suddenly went silent as they waited for an answer. The teens came to a stop, their forced smiles falling from their faces. A few of them unconsciously glanced at Davis, who had suddenly gone pale.

Shoutmon recovered first. It seemed as if he had somewhat expected a question like this to come up, and had an answer ready. Producing his mic, he spoke into it loudly and clearly so that everyone could hear.

"I had a feeling that this would come up, and I want to completely clear the air on this." He glanced at Davis and gave him a wink before continuing. "This rumor of betrayal is a complete and utter lie. Everyone knows what the Demon Lords are capable of. There have been countless times where they have taken control of other Digimon and forced them to do their bidding, whether the Digimon wanted to or not. That is what happened to one of us. There was no betrayal. Our comrade temporarily fell under the control of a Demon Lord. But the moment that control was broken, they immediately rejoined us and opposed the Demon Lords once more. Which of us that was is irrelevant, just know that we always have and always will be on the same team. With that said, let's put that rumor to rest and never bring it up again."

He said this with such finality that it left no room for argument. A few moments later, applause broke out from the crowd that quickly spread. The standard questions began getting thrown around after that, which the teens proceeded to answer with their forced smiles back in place.

The only one who made no attempt to smile after that was Davis.

Celebrity status definitely had its perks, especially when it came to finding a place to stay for the night. As Shoutmon had said earlier, they could stay anywhere they wanted. As soon as it became known that they were looking for a place to stay for the night, the offers came rolling in for them, free of charge, everyone wanting the reputation of having the heroes who took out four of the Demon Lords to stay at their place.

It was too tempting not to take advantage of the offers after having been roughing it for so long, and so they ended up staying at the most luxurious hotel offered to them. And as a bonus, each of them got their own room instead of being shoved into one.

TK, however, couldn't sleep. Thoughts pulled at his mind, and had been for over a week now. And now that they weren't out in the wild and could actually relax for a bit, those thoughts were nagging him more than ever.

He couldn't stop thinking about how he and Kari and DNA Digivolved. It had been so indescribable that he couldn't put it into words. He could see why some DNA Digivolved Digimon would permanently and truly become one and share a single DigiCore after spending years merged together, because there was no longer a difference between the two of them. He and Kari had truly united into a single being with no distinguishing difference between the two of them, their thoughts, minds, personalities, and memories becoming one.

It was that last thing that was bothering him though. Their memories had been merged and become united, all the events of their pasts laid bare, and easily accessed just by recalling them. As one being, Kari and known of TK's past just as deeply and as intimately as if she had lived it herself. Just as he did hers. But only while they had been united.

That in itself wasn't the problem though. Those memories had been there, but they had still needed to be recalled in order to know them. At the time, they had been preoccupied with the battle with EvilbeastLaylamon, and so they hadn't really had time to think about anything else. But they had been there, easily accessible all the same, and that's what worried him.

What if Kari saw the memory of his meeting with AncientWisemon? The one where the mutant Digimon had told him that he wouldn't survive. He couldn't recall thinking back to that memory while they had been Magnadramon, and therefore, theoretically, she shouldn't have that memory now that they were separated, but what if she did, having unconsciously thought back to it when they were merged? After all, he had been thinking about it just before they combined. What if he only couldn't remember thinking about it while they had been Magnadramon? Then Kari would know too, even if his memories were no longer accessible to her.

This wasn't just some random worry. Kari had been somewhat distant from him since they had been Magnadramon, and he didn't know why. Was it because she had seen that memory and now knew of his fate, and her distance was her way of trying to come to terms with it? He didn't know, and it was driving him crazy. It had been bothering him over the past week, but tonight especially, since they weren't out in the wild and didn't need to constantly be on guard, the thought was especially bothering him.

Sighing, he rolled out of bed, deciding that he wouldn't be getting any sleep until he found out how much she knew. If she didn't know, then she was acting distant for a different reason that they needed to work out. If she did, well, then he would need to find a way to convince her that he would rather sacrifice himself than lose all of them and still end up dying himself, because he knew she wouldn't accept his death as an option.

Quietly sneaking out, he made his way over to her room and knocked on the door. He received no answer for the first few tries, but figured she was probably asleep since it was so late, despite all the nightly activity going on outside. He kept knocking though, and eventually the door opened to reveal Kari looking half-asleep.

"TK?" she muttered sleepily. "Everything ok?"

He nodded, suddenly feeling embarrassed. "Yeah, sorry for waking you. Can we talk?"

She cocked her head to the side. "Right now?"

He rubbed the back of his head. "I know it's late, but something's been bothering me."

She didn't say anything, she just stifled a yawn and opened the door more for him to enter. He did so as she went to turn on the lights, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. Then she made her way over to the bed, which was clearly built for a much larger Digimon, and sat down, patting the spot beside her. TK blushed slightly and took a seat next to her.

"So, what's up?" she asked, now sounding more awake.

He sighed, wondering how he should broach the subject. He'd planned to talk to her, but never actually thought about what to say. He couldn't simply ask her, as that would just reveal his upcoming death when she might not even know about it.

"I guess I was just thinking about when we… you know, became Magnadramon."

Her eyes widened slightly and a blush stained her cheeks as she shyly diverted her eyes. "Y-Yeah? What about it?"

"Well…" he began, trying to find the right words, "I was just wondering if there was anything you might have learned about me that may have… bothered you."

Her blush deepened, and she still refused to look at him. "I-I… No, not really. Why?"

He shifted uncomfortably. "It's just that… it seems like you've been acting distant from me since then. So I guess I was wondering if you saw something from my memories that bothered you."

"Oh," she said, looking back at him, seemingly less embarrassed. "No, not really. There wasn't much time to think about anything else with the battle going on. I mean, the memories were there, but you still had to think back to them, just like we do now for our own memories, but we were a little preoccupied with EvilbeastLaylamon at the time to think of anything else, and I can't see your memories now. So no, I didn't."

So she didn't know. That was a relief. "Then why does it seem like you're avoiding me? Did I do something wrong?"

She looked away again, blushing once more, only this time there was a smile on her face. "Of course not. I guess I'm just… a little embarrassed."

He cocked his head to the side. "How come?"

Her blush deepened. "TK, we became one person. Didn't it feel really… intimate?"

This surprised him. At the time, their had been more pressing matters to deal with, so he hadn't dwelled in it, and later, he'd had other things occupying his thoughts. Now that she brought it up, however, it had felt pretty intimate, albeit in a non-sexual way. They had shared one body after all. So now that they were two again…

His own cheeks turned red. "Y-Yeah, now that you mention it, I guess it was pretty personal."

Kari shifted around shyly. "It's not just that either. When we were together, we shared the same feelings. Feelings aren't like memories, you don't have to think about them; you simply feel them. And when we were Magnadramon, I… felt how you felt about me."

She was unable to keep the smile off her face, and hung her head in mild bashfulness. Both their hands rested between them, and she pinky crawled closer until her finger touched his. "I knew we've talked about how we feel about each other before, but to actually feel it, and to feel how deep they are, is different. Especially since I feel the same about you." She shyly looked back up at him. "And I know you could feel how I felt too."

TK's own face was burning right along with hers. When she put it that way, he could see why her feeling what he felt about her could be overwhelming, and that knowing that he had felt what she felt about him could be embarrassing. No wonder she had been distant; she probably hadn't known how to act around him after that, while simultaneously been trying to process everything. Putting a little space between them until she worked it all out made sense.

He too had had similar thoughts, but also, he had his upcoming death hanging over him. It was hard to think of anything long term knowing you were going to die soon, and it tended to keep him living in the moment and focus primarily on what he could do with the time he had left. Had it not been for that, then he may not have acted too different than she had.

Her pinky finger was curled around his, and he moved to take her hand in his. "Yeah, I could feel it. But I guess it didn't register to me that you felt what I was feeling too." Had he not been concerned about other things that is.

She let out a small giggle. "It made me happy. It was just a little… much at the time. A bit of an overload, you know."

He nodded. "I do, now. I just thought it was something else. I'd never merged with anybody before. It was pretty…"

"Intense?" she offered with a smile.

He chuckled. "That's one way of putting it." His thoughts then took a different turn, and the smile left his face. "You know, we never really did get back to the conversation we were having about DNA Digivolving after Azulongmon's appearance interrupted us. Do you think we'll be able to become Magnadramon again?"

She frowned slightly as she thought about it. "I don't know. Based on what Shoutmon said, it's not just a matter of simply Digivolving. When we Digivolve, it's like a door is unlocked, and we're able to walk through it anytime we want after the first time. With DNA Digivolving, we also have to be in sync with each other. I guess we can try and figure out how we did it. Maybe have some training sessions where we try and combine."

He nodded. "We could try that, but we'll have to be careful of when and where. It'd be just like the Demon Lords to come after us when we're low on power from practicing."

Kari nodded in agreement, and they fell silent for a few moments. With the topic of DNA Digivolving brought up, TK's thoughts turned to something else that had crossed his mind just before they had merged. He knew it would be a sensitive topic, but it still needed to be addressed eventually.

"You know," he said carefully, "us DNA Digivolving isn't the only option. You still have the ChronoCore that Chronomon gave you."

Her eyes widened and she looked away. "I've been trying not to think about that. The thought of wielding destructive power like that scares me."

He tried to lighten the mood. "Well, if you think about it, we all have scary, destructive powers."

She playfully nudged him. "You know what I mean, and you know this is different. After seeing what Chronomon's destructive nature did to him… I'm afraid that if I use it that I'll lose control and accidentally hurt someone, or even become corrupted by it."

He shook his head. "I don't think that the power alone made Chronomon destructive. He had a whole Digivolution whose very nature was tied to it, and so he used his power for destruction. That doesn't mean that it has to be used that way."

"I know that, but what if-"

She was cut off by a knock at her door. The two of them exchanged surprised looks before she got up to answer it.

Opening the door, she found Davis standing behind it with a nervous look on his face. He tried to cover it up by putting on a big grin. "Hey, Kari, hope I didn't wake you."

She shook her head. "No, I'm awake, but I'm surprised you are. You usually sleep like a log."

He shifted uncomfortably. "Yeah, well, I've had a lot on my mind, and I was hoping I could talk to you."

She chuckled. "Well, you're not the only one. I was just discussing strategy with TK."

Davis blinked. "TP's here?"

He looked past Kari to see TK sitting on her bed. The blonde boy gave him an awkward wave. "Uh, hey, Davis. I see you still can't spell 'TK'."

Eyes narrowing slightly, Davis looked back and forth between the two suspiciously. "What exactly are you two doing alone together so late?"

Kari moved to let him in. "I told you, battle strategy."

"Well, sort of," TK added. "It was mostly about us becoming Magnadramon. When you merge together with another person, you tend to have certain things to talk about. Personal things that are best kept private, and we haven't had much privacy lately."

Davis seemed to accept that answer as he stepped inside. "I guess that makes sense. Actually, I'm glad you're here; I've got some things I'd like to talk to you about too."

TK and Kari exchanged a look before shrugging. "Ok, what'd you want to talk about?" asked the former.

"Right, hold up. Kari, can you go sit by TK."

She did as he asked and sat on the bed beside TK. Davis nodded, satisfied, then went to stand in front of them. He stood up straight with his hands at his sides and his eyes closed before taking a deep breath and bowing to them both.

"I'm sorry!" he practically shouted.

Both TK and Kari jumped at his sudden cry, not having expected it. They glanced at each other in confusion before looking back at Davis uncertainly.

"Um, sorry for what?" Kari asked.

"What do you think?" he said loudly. "For all the things I while under the Dark Spore's influence. I know I did horrible things and that I've already apologized for them, but I feel like I owe you both an extra apology. And, Kari, I feel like I owe you an extra, extra apology. I'm sorry!"

A feeling of deep awkwardness feel over the other two teens. "That's really not necessary," TK told him, waving his hands. "Please, stand up."

"Yeah, you were under the Dark Spore's influence," Kari reminded him. "That wasn't the real you."

Davis stood up straight, his face a mask of emotional turmoil. "But it was. It really was. That was me the whole time. I just, I guess you could say, felt things differently, or saw things from a different point of view. I mean, I was going you kill you guys, and I felt nothing. No guilt, no remorse, nothing. Right now, the thought of even hurting my friends makes me sick, but at the time, I simply didn't care. I'd even go as far as to say that a part of me wanted to. Those thoughts and feelings were there, but I was the one in control, and I acted on them. Do you know what that's like? I hate myself for what I did. It's like-"

"Davis, you're rambling," Kari interrupted. "Just calm down, everything is fine."

Her brother's look-alike paused in his rant and began taking a few calming breaths, slowly settling down. "Ok, look, I know that the Dark Spore messed with my feelings and thought process, but I guess what really gets to me is that I was capable of doing such horrible things, especially to my friends, no matter what I thought or felt."

TK sighed deeply. "Davis, you're putting too much blame on yourself. Ok, yes, it was you in control of your actions, but your mindset was altered, and your personality warped. You weren't the same person you were before."

Kari nodded in agreement. "Yes, it's like you were sick or something. Just think of it that way."

TK snapped his fingers. "Yeah, that's perfect. Shoutmon described it almost like rabies. It makes the host go crazy and become violent. It's still the same person, but the illness affected them and made them act in ways they would never act otherwise."

Kari smiled, glad for the analogy, and looked back at Davis. "Can you look at it that way? That you were just really sick from an infection that made you act differently?"

Davis stared at the two of them for several long moments before letting out a sigh. "I guess I can look at it that way, and I guess that makes me feel better…" He closed his eyes, still looking regretful. "But that doesn't excuse what happened before that. That I actually let Laylamon trick me into getting infected."

The other two hesitated. They had also wondered how exactly that had happened. Based on what Laylamon had said, they got the gist of it, but they still didn't know the details.

"Then tell us what happened," TK suggested. "How exactly did she trick you?"

Davis diverted his eyes and rubbed the back of his head. He sighed deeply before looking back at them. "She contacted me through this Digimon with a TV for a head. I should have woke you guys up right away, but figured that I should at least hear what she had to say, if only to find out anything we could use against her."

TK nodded. "Ok, that sounds pretty reasonable."

Davis snorted. "Yeah, she certainly had a way with words. She started going on about how she didn't even consider us a threat, and was merely looking for some entertainment until she decided to kill us. Then she fed me this load of crap story of how since she was the Demon Lord of Lust that she tended to take an interest in other's relationship, and she was looking to stir up some drama to make things more interesting."

He seemed to have lost them a both with his explanation, as they both wore confused looks on their faces. "Ok," Kari muttered. "I guess I can see how the whole lust and relationships thing makes sense, and why someone like the Demon Lord of Lust would be interested in them, but what's that have to do with anything?"

Davis' eyes narrowed. "Motive. I didn't see it then, but I do now. She led me to believe that she was so unconcerned with us and could deal with us at any time that there was no reason for her to try anything sneaky to get rid of us, and that the only reason she was getting involved in our personal affairs was out of personal interest."

"That's… pretty insightful," TK admitted.

"It was a load of garbage, Davis growled. "I didn't trust her, but it did get me to lower my guard, because, well, it made sense, I guess. That's when she offered me the Dark Spore."

Kari nodded in understanding. "Very smart of her. She did a good job of making her motives appear like they weren't personal. So what happened?"

He sighed again, now looking remorseful. "You know how I feel about you, Kari. And I know you don't feel the same; you've told me enough times, even though I keep trying. Apparently, Laylamon knew how I felt too, and said that's why she decided to get involved, because she wanted to see how our relationship would play out if she stirred up a little drama. She told me that the Dark Spore would help me win you over. That it would give me what I lacked to get you to be my girl."

TK gave him an incredulous look. "And you believed that?"

"Of course not!" Davis objected loudly. "Geez, give me some credit. My first thought was that it was some kind of poison or something. But then why would she need to resort to poisoning if she really thought that she could just kill us anytime she wanted? And why trick me into taking it when she could have just spiked my food or something? And then why just me? If only one of us, then why me specifically and not a stronger member of our group?"

"Crafty," Kari once again reluctantly admitted to Laylamon's brilliance. "She really thought this out."

"And what more," he continued, "she said she had to be honest about what it was and what it did, because it had to be taken willingly or else it wouldn't have taken root." He scoffed. "Technically, she was honest about it, as the Dark Spore certainly made me willing to do what was 'necessary' in order to make you my girl, by literally any means. That sick bitch."

He ran his hands over his face, now looking dismayed. "I still didn't trust her, and there was no way I was going to take anything she gave me… But that still didn't stop me from thinking that if she wasn't lying and that if whatever she was offering me was legit and could actually help me win Kari over, then it'd be nice to have something to help me out, especially with the number of times she rejected me. Next thing I know, I was being filled with darkness."

"But that's not willingly accepting it," TK objected. "That was just wishful thinking on your part."

Davis shrugged. "I guess that was good enough though. I didn't make the rules, but apparently wanting something that technically did what Laylamon said it would do counted. Suddenly, I didn't care what I had to do or who I had to hurt to get the things I wanted, so I…"

He let out a deep groan and hung his head. TK and Kari exchanged sorrowful looks, feeling bad for him. What Laylamon had done was unbelievable cruel and despicably deceitful in so many ways. They really had been foolish for not finishing her off the first time when they had the chance.

"Davis, you can't blame yourself for this," TK assured him.

"He's right," Kari agreed. "You were tricked. Don't forget, this was a Demon Lord. They've used and manipulated those far smarter and stronger than any of us. Laylamon could have come after any of us; it just so happened that due to an opportunity presented that she chose you. And that whole thing about you needing to be 'willing' to take the Dark Spore sounds incredibly vague to me, if not pure nonsense. It certainly doesn't count as consent in my eyes."

"Nor mine," said TK.

Davis still looked frustrated with himself. "Well, one good thing came out of being tricked and manipulated like that, it made me realize that I need to change."

The other two blinked. "Change how?" Kari asked.

"I need to grow up. I really don't act my age a lot. I'm naïve, stubborn, arrogant, immature, I act too much like a child."

"That's not necessarily a bad thing," TK told him. "Being carefree and innocent are good qualities to have."

"We actually like that about you," Kari added. "It's good to have someone around who can always lighten up a situation and make life fun and entertaining."

"And besides, you always come through in the end. Whenever the situation calls for it, you always step up to do what's right. We know we can rely on you when we need you."

"And it's not like you're the only one who has their share of flaws. Everyone does. And those flaws help us grow as people and allow us to better ourselves."

Davis crossed his arms. "Well, I intend to do some growing. I'm not going to be that naïve, childish, little kid anymore."

TK gave him a smile. "Well, don't change too much."

"Yeah, we like you the way you are," said Kari. "Obnoxious, but lovable."

Davis smirked. "Lovable, huh? How about dashing?"

She cut her eyes at him. "Don't push it."

They had a good laugh after that. It was as if a weight had been lifted off all their shoulders, and just like that, the underlying tension they'd all felt was gone, and it was like the good old days again.

But the good times didn't last, and the sound of an explosion outside interrupted their merriment. Davis glanced at the window, wondering what the source of the loud sound was. "Geez, are they setting off fireworks or something?"

There was another loud bang, this one louder, and TK's eyes narrowed. "I don't think those are fireworks, they sound different."

They rushed to the window as another explosion went off. Looking outside, they saw that the city was under turmoil. Either a battle was taking place with no care of who got caught in the crossfire, or the city was under attack.

"The heck is this!?" Davis exclaimed. "Look at all that destruction."

"We've got to put a stop to this before someone gets hurt," Kari insisted. "Come on."

They rushed out into the hall, where several other guests were frantically running about. The rest of their friends were either already there or soon joined them, and they quickly found each other.

"Is this some kind of attack? Takato asked.

Tai nodded. "Looks like it. Come on, let's get to the roof; it'll be faster."

Another explosion was heard, and this time the hotel shook as a result. With no time to lose, the teens made a mad sash for the roof. It seemed as if their night of luxury was over.

(A/N: Well, this is an interesting turn of events, First a little heart-to-heart with TK and Kari in regards to their DNA Digivolving, and then one with Davis and how he behaved while under the influence of the Dark Spore. A while back, I had someone ask when Davis was going to get some character development since he kept acting so immature all the time. Well, this is it. We're going to start to see a more mature and responsible Davis. Don't worry though, he won't change too much, otherwise he just won't be Davis. We'll see how that goes, along with the possibility of TK and Kari DNA Digivolving again in the future. For now, it seems like they've got a situation to deal with. Our poor heroes really can't catch a break. I hope you're ready, these next few chapters are going to be a doozy.)
