(After 'The Past in the Present')

Thank you for reviewing my story. I appreciate it.

I don't own Bones.

Oooooooooooooooooooooooo

They had slept late the next day and after getting dressed, Booth carried Christine downstairs to get some breakfast while Brennan made a quick call to the Lab to make sure Cam didn't have any questions about the paper work she had given her supervisor before she left for vacation. Cam didn't answer so reluctantly Brennan left a message and joined Booth in the kitchen.

Booth was sitting at a table in the kitchen, holding Christine while she drank from a bottle. "Bones, I found the milk in the fridge."

"I see that." Brennan checked the fridge while Ann was busy at the stove.

"Dr. Brennan, I'm cooking breakfast for Agent Booth. Would you like some eggs and bacon too?" Ann didn't mind cooking breakfast at nine in the morning. She didn't get a chance to cook for guests very often and she enjoyed having company in the kitchen.

Spying the cups of fruit she had brought with her, Brennan took two and closed the fridge door. "No thank you. I'm a vegetarian, but I do appreciate the offer."

Vegetarian. Dr. Hodgins should have warned me about that. After she filled a plate with eggs over easy, crisp bacon, toast and some crispy hash browns, Ann placed the plate on the table in front of Booth. "I have to go to the market today. If you'll give me your food preferences I'll make sure to include them on my menu for lunch and dinner."

"I don't need you to make me anything special." Brennan sat down across from Booth. "I can eat whatever vegetables you cook for the others or a salad will do."

"Nonsense, I don't mind cooking special vegetarian dishes." Ann walked over to the stove to retrieve the pan, fork and spatula and placed them in the sink. "And really, I don't expect you to live on salads while you're here." Giving Brennan a piece of paper and a pen, she walked back over to the sink. "Just make your list and I'll see what I can do. It will be fun cooking something different for a change. Believe me."

Since Ann said she didn't mind cooking vegetarian dishes, Brennan wrote down a few items she'd like to see on the menu and wrote down a couple of suggestions for a vegetarian dish for Ann to make if she wanted to do it. "Thank you." Ann seemed like a nice person and Brennan appreciated her thoughtfulness.

"Not a problem, Dr. Brennan. Not a problem at all, believe me." Ann washed the skillet, wiped down the counter and the toaster and walked over to the fridge to check on what items it contained and made a note on a piece of paper to replenish certain items at the store.

"Great eggs, Ann. Love the bread too. It's Italian isn't it?" Booth loved Italian bread and slathered with butter he considered it a brilliant accompaniment to breakfast.

Pleased with the compliment, Ann nodded her head. "It's from Piantedosi Baking Company. They make the best bread. The market in town carries it. Steve likes muffuletas and I make them for him at least twice a week for lunch. Say the word and I'll make one for you too."

The thought of a muffuletta sandwich made Booth happy. "Please do, if it's not a lot of trouble. The only time I've had one of those is when I've been in Louisiana."

"Will do, Agent Booth." Anne continued to check the cabinets to see what she needed to purchase for her guests as well as the Hodgins and Steve.

Done with her cups of fruit, Brennan threw them away, took Christine from Booth so he could eat breakfast while she finished feeding Christine.

"There you are." Angela breezed into the room and sat down next to Booth. "Okay you two, what do you want to do today? We can go to the beach or go fishing or just a boat ride. Or you're welcome to do nothing at all. Jack plans to go golfing tomorrow morning if anyone wants to go with him."

"I'll go." Booth knew how to golf, but rarely got to do it. Between work and home life, some things had to be set aside and golf had been one of them. "I don't have my clubs, but the clubhouse should have a set that they can rent me . . . I hope."

Entering the room, Hodgins chuckled. "Don't worry about that Booth. I have some extra sets in the storage room. You can pick out the set you want to use. Besides my set, my father, mother, Great Uncle Thomas and Uncle Prentiss golfed and I never got rid of their clubs for just this reason. Angie uses Mom's clubs when she goes."

"Thanks." Booth kept his opinion to himself about Hodgins owning five sets of golf clubs. He knew the man was rich, but it was these little things that emphasized it.

"Brennan and I can go shopping and do the tourist thing tomorrow while you two get sunburn on the golf course." Angela only golfed when Hodgins couldn't find anyone else to go with him. She wasn't very good and she didn't enjoy it like her husband did.

That settled, Hodgins sat down next to Brennan. "Okay folks, what do you want to do today? Anything you want, the beach, watch movies all day and snack on Anne's famous chocolate chip cookies? You're our guests and we're open to suggestions."

"The beach I think." Brennan smiled down at her baby. "That is if you have a beach umbrella to protect Christine. She's too young to be exposed to the sun for too long."

"Oh, not a problem. We can access the beach behind the house. Steve built a cabana just past the staircase last year so Michael Vincent and Christine will be protected from the sun." Hodgins wasn't sure what he would do if Steve ever quit. The man kept everything running smoothly and the place looked better than it did when his parents were alive. "So, whenever you're ready to go to the beach, cross the backyard to the staircase, it will take you to the beach. I'm going up to change now. Steve is going to bring down a cooler of water and drinks and Ann is going to make sandwiches and cut up some fruit for us for lunch. Dr. B she can make you a salad if you want one or a vegetarian sandwich."

Pleased that Hodgins hadn't forgot she didn't eat meat, eggs or cheese, Brennan nodded her head. "A salad will be fine, no cheese or eggs, Ann. I can eat whatever fruit you provide us."

"Got it Dr. Brennan." Ann was done with her list. "I'm going to the store to do some shopping. I'll be back in time to make lunch. I might pick up a watermelon and chill it before I cut it up."

With plans made, the couples left the kitchen and went to their bedrooms.

Oooooooooooooooo

The beach was clean and the cabana was open on all sides so you could see up and down the beach. There was an old lighthouse down the beach on the right and to Brennan it appeared to be a working one.

Sitting on a blanket under the cabana, Angela held Michael Vincent in her arms and laughed. "He loves the beach and the water. He's a little fish. I have to keep a firm grip on him to make sure he doesn't get away from me. As soon as he's old enough, I'm going to teach him how to swim. In the meantime, I'll make sure he uses floaties and I have a hand on him at all times."

Michael Vincent was squirming in his mother's arms and pointing at the water in the distant.

"See what I mean." Angela loved her son so much. "I'm going to go in the water for a bit. You stay here with Christine. When my little daredevil gets tired, I'll watch him and Christine so you can swim."

"That seems like an excellent plan." Brennan watched Angela walk down to the water while Hodgins and Booth tossed a small football back and forth to each other on the beach. The day was warm and Christine seemed to be comfortable which was important to her. She knew that the comfort of the baby was important and she would make sure her daughter didn't have any unpleasant experiences while they were on vacation.

Hodgins decided to join his wife and son in the water, so Booth walked over to the cabana and lay on the blanket next to Brennan and their baby. "Want to go in the water? I can watch Christine."

"Angela plans to watch her after Michael Vincent has tired himself out." Brennan smiled at Booth. He looked so handsome in his bathing suit and since he was shirtless she enjoyed staring at his external abdominal oblique and his rectus abdominus. Booth exercised regularly and kept his body in great shape making her wish that they were alone at that moment and she could explore his body with her hands. Something she enjoyed doing when they made love. "Is that bathing suit new?" The black and gray swimwear was attractive and it made her hands itch to explore those too.

"Yeah, I didn't want to wear the old one here since it has a hole in one of the legs." Booth didn't want anyone to think he was some poor sucker sponging off Hodgins. Catching Brennan staring at his chest and stomach, Booth laughed and grabbed her hand. "See anything you like?"

Her blue eyes boring into his dark brown ones, Brennan nodded her head. "I always see something I like when it comes to you, Booth." She removed her hand from his hand and placed it on his chest. "Your body is . . . perfect." She didn't believe in perfection, but she found that word suitable when it came to her mate.

His eyes hooded, Booth looked around to see where Angela and Hodgins were and decided that the cabana wasn't the place to get too amorous. "Well, thank you . . . Your body is perfect too Bones . . . I think we should go to our room early tonight so we can . . . you know, enjoy our perfection together."

Amused, Brennan laughed. "What an excellent plan, Booth. We are on vacation and we should take advantage of the fact that no one will call us and interrupt what we're doing . . . yes, an excellent plan."

"I thought you'd like it." Booth leaned over and kissed his partner. "I'm glad you wanted to go on vacation. I'm glad for both of us."

Ooooooooooooooooo

Let me know what you think of my story. Thanks.
